Joanna kept moving along the passage with Artemis in tow, while the soldiers finished killing the spiders with Rebecca's help. "you won't need any meds," Joanna told artemis, grinning, "there are plenty of alternative therapy methods that ill be 'very' happy to help you with." her grin widened as she saw artemis blush deeply.
"I mean't teaching you to swim, what did you think I meant."
just then a spider fell out of an airduct in front of them and charged at them, Joanna quickly triple tapped it.

Artemis watched Joanna intently as they moved through the facility. She couldn’t help but be amazed at how well she handled herself in these situations. Even with the injuries she sustained she seemed to be able to keep her composure quite well. That made Artemis a bit flustered considering that she couldn’t even do that right now. As the spider dropped down in front of them she wasn’t surprised at how quickly Joanna had taken care of it, but at the fact that she couldn’t sense it like she had the others. Though when she thought about it she was a bit absent minded after Joanna’s comment. Her mind was going one direction as Joanna’s intentions was something completely different.
She couldn’t help but laugh at herself. As they reached the finally door one of the soldiers stepped in front of them to open it. The building around them seemed to shake violently and as the door opened a wave of water rushed in staggering the group. Artemis’ hands instantly gripped tighter on Joanna, and after she realized what she was doing she reluctantly loosened her grip. In the center of the room were the sub was sitting the water around it seemed to be bubbling up into the room. As they moved into the room the water seemed to still be rising. “Looks like the room’s pressure’s been altered from the place starting to collapse,” she pointed out.
Then she felt it. Since she wasn’t so focused on what Joanna said earlier she was actually able to focus on something else. “The water’s low still, but the higher it gets if we don’t move were going to have company,” she said as she looked at Joanna. “Those sharks are below us,” she pointed out. She allowed Joanna to lead her over to the wall and she leaned up against it. “The sub should be locked in place with clamps. The control should be over there,” she pointed to her left. “Once it’s in the water she should be able to access the hatch without problems.” She looked down at the water. Only knee deep, and she was still oaky with that but it was rising faster than she would like. Then depending on how big those sharks actually were would depend on the level of water they would need to get up here.

"Wolf, take care of the clamps. Squad, pop a phosphorus grenade through the door we came in then shut it. it'll give us some time with those spiders."
as everyone set about their tasks, Joanna moved towards the pool, pulling a grenade from one of her many pouches. it was an experimental grenade designed for water infiltration teams in shark infested waters. using a small phial of blood, it lured sharks to it, making them eat it, and 5 seconds after being swallowed, it detonated, hurling small flechettes and the concussion wave of the explosion into the shark that swallowed it, killing or severely maiming it, attracting other sharks to it, making an excellent distraction for divers. or in this case, a mini-submersible.
pulling the pin, she tossed it into the water, and moved back to Artemis.

Artemis leaned against the wall as the others worked around the room to get the sub free of its restraints. Two of the soldiers secured the doors leading into the room to try and keep the water from the halls from flowing in, but with the way the room tilted due to the deteriorating shaft that held it up the water was also flowing in through the pool below them. Artemis hand gripped her side tightly and fought with the dizzy spells that past over her from time to time. She knew she was bleeding again, but there was nothing they could do at this time nor was she going to say anything to Joanna. The room shook violently throwing everyone to the ground. As Artemis hit the ground she was met with a face full of water that gushed up through the moon pool, but what caused her to move and even forget about the pain were the sharp teeth that followed the water up. She quickly scrambled back as one of the sharks swam up through the moon pool toward them. Due to the water not being deep enough yet it got stuck on the ground, before it managed to wiggle itself back into the water. Artemis sat back on her butt and watched. Currently the water in the room wasn’t deep enough for the sharks to move up through, but it was getting dangerous around the moon pool.
Using the wall she tried to help herself, but the dizzy spell struck hard and as her hand went to her head everything went dark. It took her a long moment to realize that she hadn’t passed out, but that the power had went out. She removed her gun and quickly attached the gun light. She turned hers on just about the same time that everyone one else did. She swept hers around to see if some wire was broken lose, but the electrical circuits seemed just fine. She sighed a bit as she looked at Joanna. “The generators must have been taken out.” She looked up at the last clamp that kept the sub from the water. “Do you think you have enough explosives to take out that last clamp?” She turned to look back at Joanna, but stopped at her world took a turn for the worse. Instead of being cold from the icy water her body seemed to grown incredibly hot. She staggered forward as the gun dropped from her hand into the water. Hitting the wall she slid down to her knees. The world grew hazy as she tried to fight staying conscious.

"Artemis!" Joanna dashed to her, lifting her up. turning to the mini-sub, she started barking orders.
"Team! Get into the sub! Rebecca!" she tossed her her rifle, useless without the pin, but it still had the grenade launcher. she then tossed a 40mm grenade. "Take out that clamp! the further away from the sub the better, we don't want micro-fractures!"
"Got it!"
"come on artemis, don't clock out on me now." she told Artemis as she carried her towards the sub.
she got close before Rebecca blew up the clamp at the middle of its arm, causing the clamp to come apart, and the sub to drop into the water.
as soon as the sub hit the water, everyone started climbing aboard. as soon as everyone was inside, Rebecca went to the controls and started it up, while Joanna sat Artemis down, and started taking off her armor in order to get at the wound.

As soon as Joanna started removing her chest piece Artemis cried out. It seemed that with the chest piece in place it had added to the pressure against the wound to ease the pain, but once it was removed a new wave of pain shot through her body. As one hand gripped the edge of her seat tightly the other gripped Joanna's arm tightly. As the mini sub sunk below the water it rocked violently as the facility collapsed around it and the debri started falling around. Artemis held back a cry with a sudden jerk that jarred her side. Panting heavily Artemis fought to keep her consciousness, but the pressure in her head just seemed to be growing. She looked up at Joanna with a smile before passing out, but the grip she had on Joanna’s arm never loosened.
The sub again rocked violently, but this time it wasn’t because of the falling dabri. The sharks that were in the water were attack now. With each hit their fins were scraping the edge of the sub. The soldiers in the sub started to look over the controls they had access to without disturbing Rebecca’s driving. “We have no weapons on this sub. It seems like it’s just for observation,” one of them called out.

As she injected Artemis with a booster, Joanna quickly looked around the sub, and spied the distinctive outline of an APS underwater rifle.
gently removing Artemises hand from her arm, she quickly went and picked up the rifle, along with several magazines of its underwater ammunition. "Take care of her." she told the Squad medic while she went to the mini-subs small airlock. "Wolf! Get this tub to the surface as fast as possible!"
as the medic started to help artemis, he turned to her, "what about you?!" she got into the airlock before she answered, "Im gonna run interference."
Shutting the door behind her, she put on her rebreather while the airlock started filling up with the icy sea water, loaded her grenade launcher with a bangalore blade grenade and jacked a round into the rifle.
'well, here goes nothing.' she thought as she openned the outer door.
before she got out, she clipped a carabiner onto one of the rings in the airlock, securing her to the sub. Climbing out, she immediately aimed and fired her newly acquired rifle at an incoming shark. The needle like bullet speared through the sharks head, killing it instantly.
'one down.'

As one shark went down several quickly swarmed over the newly bleeding corpse. A couple others made their way toward the sub after the moving targets.
Artemis jerked slightly before barley opening her eyes, but instead of Joanna's being their buy her side it was the medic from the team. The pain seemed to have dulled greatly, but she also found that moving her body was hard. "What . . ." she trailed off almost in thought.
"I added a pain killer to the booster that Fury gave you. You may actually find it hard to move for a minute," he explained. Artemis looked around the sub but Joannas wasn't even there. "She stepped out to deal with the sharks." Artemis nodded slightly already figuring that, but not because she was missing but because she could feel.
Artemis closed her eyes for a moment. Too cold to play outside, she spoke lightly to Joannas. Your body won’t be able to handle the cold too long. So I'll help a little. When Artemis opened her eyes it startled the medic. Her eyes had shifted to an almost dull gold color.
Outside one of the sharks jerked momentarily as it fought for its own consciousness, and after a moment it stilled. When it started moving again it attacked another shark approaching Joanna from behind. As the sharks started to fight Artemis let go of the one she was controlling and took control of another.

As all this was happening, Rebecca was increasing the speed of their ascent. She reached for the radio and tuned into a secure channel.
“Valkyrie, this is Wolf! Can you hear me, Over!” Static, they were still several kilometres below the surface, though they were rising rapidly. She kept at it, all the while Joanna and Artemis were creating havoc with the sharks. However, their success also came with consequence, with the amount of blood being spilled, shark BOW’s were swarming towards them, more than they could possibly deal with. Pretty soon, Joanna was out of underwater rifle ammo, and was about to fire her grenade launcher when she noticed something attached to the submersible.
When she recognised it, her eyes widened.
Firing her grenade launcher she scampered as quickly as possible back into the airlock, going through the procedures as quickly as possibe, before going inside. “Rebecca! Go active ping on this sub’s sonar! NOW!!" Though she had questions Rebecca didn’t hesitate, activating the sub’s active ping.
The sub shook with the resulting sound, the noise almost deafening in the confines of the submersible.
The effect outside was worse.
The sharks surrounding them for fifty meters practically exploded, blood shooting out of every possible orifice. The sharks within 200 meters suddenly stopped, blood rising from their corpses. The ones even further than that started thrashing around in pain.
What Joanna had spied on the submersible was a military grade submarine sonar array, a very powerful one at that.
Joanna almost collapsed besides Artemis, giving her a tired grin, “well, I think we’re deserving of some R&R after all that don’t you think."

As the sub breached the surface Artemis felt a painful pop in her ears. She sighed heavily as she brought her hand to her eyes to rub them. She was tired, and in pain. Even the pain killers didn’t seem to be helping anymore, and the adrenalin shot that Joanna had given her earlier had worn off once she used her powers. She looked down at Joanna who was sitting on the floor and leaning against the chair. She smiled lightly. Joanna was amazing at how she handled herself in the situation below even with being hurt and tired. She never once seemed to show it, and to her it was truly impressive. When she thought about the situation; she had been through other situations similar to this before, but somehow it seemed completely different. Artemis felt her eyes growing heavy once again, and before she knew it she had passed out in the chair.
While the sub floated on the surface of the water one of the BSAA ships approached it slowly until Wolfe was able to gain communications with it. Once the sub was secured several members helped those inside the sub climb out. As one of the medics’s touched Artemis’ arm she jerked awake. She stared at him for a moment before slipping back into her pain induced sleep. With the help of another member they were able to get her out of the sub along with Joanna. All the members of the team that went below were escorted to the infirmary to be check out. Joanna to tend to her broken ribs and over excessive amounts of bruises, and Artemis’ wound and blood loss.
When Artemis woke up again it was groggier than anything else, but she would hear the noise of the infirmary. She shifted slightly but found it a bit more difficult to move than before. With a bit of reluctance she chose to remain still, and closed her eyes and listen to the noise around her.

Joanna was quickly done up with a sling and several pain killers, and after she was treated for her collapsed lung, she was told she could go, she didn't. Grabbing a chair, she sat down next to Artemis's bed, and took her hand in the one not in a sling. She knew Artemis was awake, she could 'feel' it through their mental link. She smiled slightly when Artemis's hand slightly tightened around her's. she opened their link, letting their emotions flow through and between each-other. it was relaxing, almost therapeutic. 'You did well.' she sent through their link, warm emotions following. 'Remind me to give you that reward later. I'm a bit tired right now.'
She slowly drifted off to sleep, knowing that it would be several hours before they would be back in the air, returning home. as she finally fell asleep, she didn't relax her gentle grip on Artemis's hand for an instant.

Artemis opened her eyes once she had felt that Joanna had fallen asleep. She looked over and smiled a bit before looking back at the ceiling. A lot had happened while they were below, and all these emotions that she wasn't accustomed to. She was only use to follow orders, killing without question, and to sacrifice everything for the sake of Umbrella. She knew well enough that she had these emotions as one point in time, because if she didn't then she wouldn't have struggled to become the way she was now. Everything she did up until meeting Joanna was to surpass her mother, and now she had thrown everything away . . . and for what? Looking at Joanna again she felt confused, but the warmth she felt in the hand that was holding Joanna's made her somewhat understand. In a short time of knowing her they had been through a lot.
"Damn," she moaned as she brought her free hand to her forehead. Her mind was swimming with confusion, but one thing that she was sure of. She didn't regret her betrayal, and Joanna seemed to help her mind come to terms with that. The one thing now was that she needed to come to grasp with these swarming emotions and become stronger. She looked up as a soldier approched. "Can I help you?" she wispered not wanting to wake up Joanna.
"The ship will be within range of the helicoptor within the hour. Your team will be leaving within two to head back to HQ."
She nodded and watched him walk away. She sighed as she looked at Joanna. "A vacation would be welcoming. I never had one," she said with a smile as Joanna opened her eyes. "Sorry I didn't mean for him to wake you up." With a bit of effort she sat up on the bed. Her hand going to her side for a moment before relaxing. Though something tells me we are not going to get to much of a break." She looked at Joanna. "Kyle said there were 10 more just like him, and if my father was one. Then I think I might know who the other ten are." She looked out over the room. "Are your ribs okay? I know you took a pretty good hit back there too."

"doc said they were all clean breaks, so they don't hurt as much as they could have. same with my arm and collar bone."
she looked around the room before settling on Artemis, and smiled. Ever since her second family died, she had felt broken, an empty vessel kept alive only by overwhelming emotions of sadness and hatred, and her torture had only furthered her down the path towards madness and self-destruction. yet ever since meeting Artemis, the cold darkness that permeated her being was slowly receding, replaced with warmth and light.
'Is this what happiness feels like?' she wondered as she looked upon this woman who had come into her life and in such a short time, had become important to her. she grinned slightly, and decided to throw caution to the wind.
“now that I'm awake, would you like that reward now?”

Artemis opened her eyes and looked up at Joanna she was drawing close. "No," she had said quitley almost under her breath. "But I would enjoy that reward." Artemis brought her hand up to the back of Joanna's neck and pulled her closer until their lips met. She closed her eyes as she enjoyed the moment of the kiss. Now, I believe this is what happiness feels like. She should wonder what true happiness would feel like. She had never had a chance to encounter it, but felt bits of it when she was with Joanna. An now this moment with their lips locked together, and their link opened she could understand it greatly. She let go of Joanna's neck allowing her to pull away from her. Though after expierincing that for the first time where it felt like it was truly meant her body seemed to burn. She smiled lightly at the thought as she looked at Joanna. "Now what do I have to do to recieve more rewards like that?" she asked with a grin.
About then a soldier walked into the medical unite and walked over to them. "The chopper for your departure will be landing in about thirty minutes. So you'll have about fourty minutes until departure."
She nodded in responce as the soldier left. Artemis then turned her attention back to Joanna. "So about those future rewards?"

she smiled, "just stay with me, then we can have all the rewards we both want," she grinned, and widened their link, showing her her thoughts, "and perhaps more." she laughed when Artemis whole face turned red from blushing, and got up. "we got 30 minutes to get ready, so Im gonna go get a shower, freshen up," she grinned saucily, "your welcome to join if you want."
she slowly got up, showing off her body for Artemis, without her armor and equipment she knew she was quite the looker, and through their link she knew Artemis was captivated. and grinned when she felt Artemis staring at her ass while she slowly strutted towards the showers connected to the infirmary. when she got to the door she slowly looked back at Artemis, and winked sexily at her, before walking in. stripping off, she turned on the shower and got in, luxuriating in the warm water falling down onto her face.
