Time: 12:00 Date: unknown sometime shortly after the infection took hold of the world Location: Dentano Ranch, 50 miles outside White deer, Texas
The Dentano ranch was a 40 acre piece of land in the middle of nowhere in the Texas panhandle. Surrounded by barbed wire and electrified fencing not many undead made it through to the house that had been set back 5 miles from the road. Behind the house was a pond and woods. Taya and her brother spent several a moment in those woods exploring and learning the land. On the ranch where two horses, they survived by drinking from the pond and eating the grasses.
The house was a 5 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 story home with an attic, inside the attic was dusty furniture, a sleeping bag and an old ham radio. A backpack full of Taya's survival gear, her bow and arrows all sat next to the pull down ladder. The second floor had 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. 2 of the bedrooms set up to be bedrooms while the 3rd was Taya's library. It housed all her medical books, and other books that interested her.
The first floor held the last 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom had been taken over by Taya's brother, and the second bedroom had been made into an office for Jack's work.

Taya woke late that day, the sun high in the sky. She quickly grabbed her weapons and her bag of gear. She had a plan to try as hunt for food today but wasnt sure if she would encounter any of those canibal crazies in her woods. As she checked her bag to make sure it had her ropes and a few bottles of water from her local well, she wondered if the people at the hospital where ok. Taya opened the access hatch and lowered the ladder before slowly climbing down with an arrow notched and aimed ready to fire at anything that tried to attack.
Once she was certain the coast was clear she stepped down and went downstairs to leave taking off down to the pond first to check the horses then to the woods. Game was still plentiful so Taya hoped she could get a deer. She had plenty of meat dehydrated already, and some frozen. As long as the power and gas lines still worked she wouldn't go hungry.

Four days had passed since the initial outbreak, according to her memory which seemed to be never wrong, it was also three days since she experienced her latest mutation with the virus that infected her bloodstream. Sure, she wasn't one of those creatures walking around that was mindlessly feasting on flesh with primitive instincts, but it's not like it was a whole lot better in Katya's predicament. No amount of ibuprofen or prescription pills could dull the pain that still remained in Katya's cheeks and jawline, so she decided to ignore it.
The cloth that was wrapped around her mouth hid the scarring, it made sure to not raise any questions that she didn't want to answer. At the same time, the bodysuit she wore probably would have risen more questions anyways as it hugged her curves without restricting movements. It was almost nice being infected as it decreased her exhaustion to bare minimal when crossing long distances. She stumbled upon a forest in the dreaded heat of Texas, she had just finished raiding what she could out of the town full of zombies only a half mile behind her now.
"Row...row...row your boat..."
Katya's voice sang gently as a child would, Russian accent loosely hidden behind her words. The words were muffled behind the cloth as she lifted the small backpack over her shoulders some more with the bare basics for food and water while the other half was filled with pain medication. It's not like it was going to help, but she strongly believed in the placebo effect.
She stopped at a small lake, not to take a breather but to listen to the world around. It was quiet, like it had been for three hundred meters now, and there didn't seem to be an infected in sight which was both good and bad. Good because she didn't have to deal with them, and bad because she had this strong urge to kill and eat the infected flesh that was the only thing that kept her sustained other than raw meat. Exhaling a shaken, yet calm breath she finished the other part of the song.
"...gently down the stream... Merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream..."

Taya softly stepped through her woods following the trail of a deer. She thought she had heard a voice but wasnt certain. It had been so silent lately that she had started hearing music in her head. The hustle and bustle of the hospital used to be all the noise she needed but now... The silence killed her inside, left her to her thoughts and memories. As she walked through the woods she heard the voice again, it sounded near the pond but she wasn't certain.
Taya abandoned the trail she followed and turned back hoping to find something besides another crazy rabid human. "Hello?" She called out loudly as she stomped back. Taya quickly secured her bow onto her shoulder as she walked not wanting to startle the singer. "I won't hurt you, just tell me where you are, I'll go to you." She called out again still walking towards the noise and the pond.

The sudden voice startled her, and she almost instinctively crouched down to go quadrupedal. Katya halted, moving behind a tree as she picked up a pebble. Time had made her wary, time had made her more cautious, yet also paranoid. Katya peered out from behind the tree and kept the hood over her head, in fact she used her free hand to pull it over even more. She waited until the person moved in sight and began slowly moving around the tree to stay out of the line of sight. Katya then peered out partially when she was certain the unknown person wasn't looking her direction and moved quickly to the next tree.
There was a disturbance in the wind from Katya's body moving, as well as the leaves that littered the ground, yet when looked in the direction, Katya went back into hiding. She slowly started climbing the larger tree, being careful to stay out of sight as she made sure to stay quiet until she was on a branch high up getting a nice view to examine whether or not the person was a threat. Suddenly her voice spoke, but was projected to another area, something she picked up from reading a few books on how to.
"Row...Row...Row your boat..."
The voice was coming from the lake itself, it was a trick though, something Katya got a childish pleasure out of watching people become confused over how some form of inanimate object was talking. She waited, then spoke again to see how the person would react, taking note of her actions and her equipment.
"Merrily...merrily...merrily.........Life...is but...a dream..."

Taya ran her fingers through her blonde hair, her turquoise eyes crinkled as she looked around. With no one in sight she felt like she had gone mad, then the pond began to sing, "now I know I'm crazy as hell.. Water doesn't sing.." She said looking around again. Still not seeing anyone she quickly kicked off her black boots and stripped down to her underwear to dive into the pond.
"Something may be in the water making the noise.. Plus a swim won't hurt" she said out-loud before diving in. Taya quickly swam to the center and looked around again, still not seeing a thing she began swimming back to shore. Suddenly something grabbed her leg and pulled her under. Taya wasnt sure what pulled her under but it seemed like forever that she fought to get loose. When she finally broke free and broke the surface she swam hard and fast to shore, the thing still grabbing at her foot as she went.
Once she was in shallow water she saw what grabbed her, but it wasn't possible was it? A muddy human figure growled and reached for her, but they couldn't be living because as long as they had been under they had to have drowned...
Soon Taya realized it was another weird rabid person like her brother, and the hospital "oh great.. She said stumbling backwards towards her bow, it moved slowly but she refused to take her eyes off it.

Katya refrained from a giggle, although the childish laughter could barely contain itself. Suddenly the woman was stripping down and going for a swim in the pond, Katya rolled slightly, legs wrapping around the branch as she swung silently into a hanging position. The branch vaguely moved, Katya's eyes watched quietly and kept a close eye as she saw the woman suddenly get pulled down. Waiting, she counted it out in seconds, then the woman broke surface and started swimming with an infected shambling after her heels.
"Row, row, row your boat...Gently down a stream..."
Katya spoke gently as she swung herself back up to sit on top of the branch. Coming to a stand, she somersaulted downwards with her right leg stretched out and left in a slight curve. Arms hung loosely in the air as she slammed into the zombie's back, crushing its shoulder blades and forcing it to the ground.
"Merrily merrily merrily..."
Crouching down and hooking her arm around the infected's neck, Katya gave it a nice fast twist to rotate it completely 180 degrees thanks to the rotting flesh and muscle that infected it. Looking up at the other female, Katya had a gentle childish smile with no malice behind it.
"Life, is but, a dream."

"This heat will kill me. I still not used to this American heat. Russia much cooler."
The strong Russian accent came for a tall heavy figure, which was stumbling through the woods. In search of just a bit of shadow, Ivan decided to walk through the first bit of forest he would approach. If he was lucky, he could find even a bit of water, as his bottles were nearly empty. He even hasn't touched his vodka bottles yesterday, as alcohol was making him sweat even more and he decided it might not be a great idea to risk getting dehydrated.
He was walking just in his vest and packed away everything else in the backpack. Even the nights were hotter than he ever remembered them. However, his AK was always in his hands and loaded, ready for action at any time. The world has gone crazy. People should be ready for anything at anytime. Just like at war...
Ivan stopped for a second to catch his breath. Actually, he would prefer being at war than this. He shook his head to remove all useless thoughts. He looked around him to study the environment. Ahead of him, between the gaps which the trees were making he saw spots of blue surface. However, there was no smile on his face. He knew very well that most of the water sources have been infected, so he shouldn't have his hopes up. It was still worth checking out though...

Taya fell backwards bow in hand when the woman came out of the trees and killed the zombie "bless my heart what in the name of Jesus was that??" She said referencing the fancy landing and killing of the infected. Taya noticed the woman's face held no ill will and relaxed slightly. Taya put away her weapon and stood up dusting the dirt turned mud from her bottom.
"Um.. Thanks? I supose.. What is that thing, and who are you besides incredibly mean for makin me think my pond can sing.." She said laughing slightly to break the ice.

Bringing herself to stand erect, revealing the entirety of the bodysuit that wrapped tightly around her frame. She looked down at the infected human, the one who was staring up at her with dead eyes and mouth agape. A small childish giggle escaped her lips as she looked up the the female who had bow in hand.
"A civilian, infected with the T-Virus by the Umbrella Pharmaceutical Corporation. Or perhaps it's the new C-Virus that was all the rage in China... Hard to say..."
Raising her left palm to rub gently against her chin, fingers massaged her lower jaw from the pain that was suddenly there. Fingers pressed against the cloth that hid everything below the eyes, looking up with luminescent purple optics as she scanned to her right. There was this odd feeling that someone else was coming, but at the same time, it could also be conceived as just paranoia that was constantly following her. Tugging the hood slightly over her forehead, it hid more of the ivory locks of hair.
"I didn't think anyone else would have survived here...These new infections are far more impressive than I thought, I was almost certain the world would have died from it all."

The memory is still fresh in his mind. Ambulances screeched towards the downtown area, where police had cordoned off an entire street to contain what doctors of that time describe as "a massive case of wanton cannibalism". Tim and all the available doctors were rushed to the scene and placed on standby to treat any wounded personnel. Needless to say, the cordoned area was quickly overrun, even with S.T.A.R.S. assistance. Tim barely managed to escape the hot zone, along with a few doctors and cops that are wise enough to flee. And that's what Tim is doing until now -- running, never staying in one place for so long, and surviving on what little scraps he could find -- him and his dog David.
"Huff.. Huff.. Huff.. Keep up, David!" The old man managed to say as he half limped and half ran towards an unknown area. Not that he needed to say anything though, as his dog was obviously faster and more agile than him. But he's not risking loosing any more of his friends than he already had. Close by three chompers (That's what he called them due to the fact that they all have a serious case of the munchies) were shuffling towards them.
Tim turned around and carefully aiming with his hunting rifle, shot one above the left eye. The zombie took a few steps more before collapsing in a jumbled, rotting heap. The other two tripped on the unexpected barricade set in front of them. That little stunt slowed them down. This time Tim knelt down, aimed again and fired, taking the forehead clean off the next zombie. By that time the third undead had stood up and with hands outstretched, rushed towards the doctor.
Tim stood up, albeit with some difficulty, and pushed on towards the forest. He hadn't gone very far when he felt the grip of his pursuer pulling at his hair. The doctor jerked himself free, unsheathed his machete, caught the muncher at the side of the head, and cracked his back in his ensuing victory. The zombie dropped but it was still shaking. Another blow stopped it for good. Then Tim limped on, holding his back in the process.
He burst through a clearing and beyond it the doctor saw what might have been a farm house, complete with barbed wire fencing. Finally, shelter! The old man shuffled towards the place, his dog happily prancing beside him. Then he saw he was not alone. Tim froze in his steps, staring at the group of people around the house.
Must be survivors protecting that shelter. They might be hostile, Tim thought to himself. "Stay close to me David," He crept nearer and hid behind some bushes, trying to observe them before showing himself.

After about fifteen minutes Ivan reached the lake. He looked around him. The lake was spreading a bit further down the forest, so it was not as small as he was expecting, but he could not see any further as there was a small hill. Ivan looked into the water, looking for signs of contamination. The water seemed clear, but he couldn't be sure. You can never be sure about anything in this mad world. He decided to walk a bit further down to check for contamination.
He walked about ten minutes and reached the small hill, which was covering his sight from seeing that is further down the path. Huffing and puffing, more out of habit than from tiredness, Ivan continued his stroll along the lake. Suddenly in the distance he saw couple of figures. He raised his AK and started observing the figures. From this distance he could not tell whether they were zombies or not, but as he could distinguish only two of them, they shouldn't cause him much trouble. He slowed down his pace while still his weapon aimed at the distant silhouettes.
As his was getting closer, he could tell that the figures were not acting as zombies and seemed to have a conversation between them. A smile appeared under his bushy beard and he loosen the grip on his weapon. After all this might turn out to be a good day. He picked up his pace rushing to meet them. He was so happy he wasn't alone.
As he got closer he recognized the figures were of two women. One really young, almost a child and the other one for some reason stripped down to her underwear. The kid for some reason was hiding her face under a cloth. Maybe she is just too shy. Or scared. Wouldn't blame her.
His little smile turned into a massive grin and his white teeth could be seen between the massive chunks of facial hair like a pale moon in a pitch black sky. The reason he was so happy was that there were still women alive. If there are women alive it meant that the human race maybe will live after all. And they were really young on top of that. Ah, what a glorious day this was. Of course, he is too old to be the father of new generation, but he manages to keep them alive for just even one more day that would keep the ray of hope for a bit longer.
As he approached to a point where he was sure they could hear him he shouted from eagerness to just speak to someone. His voice echoed around the lake, trembling a little bit from the happiness in his soul.
"Two beautiful ladies in this deserted place? I feel like teenage boy who birthday wish just come true! laughed Ivan and waved at the two women.

Taya looked at the girl as she messed with her jaw, for some reason she had half her face covered with a cloth. The woman was small and lithe, it was no wonder she could move the way she did. Taya listed to her explain what ha attacked her here in her own pond. "Are you injured?" She asked pointing to the cloth "I'm a nurse, I can help you. It's prolly one of the few things that's kept me alive, that and barricading myself in my home." Taya bounced from foot to foot a little nervous. She knew nothing about this girl, but was thankful she helped kill the infected person.
As Taya looked the girl over and talked another voice was soon heard, a male voice. Taya spun to the sound "another normal person?" She asked outloud, it seemed when you asked for it, you got it in spades these days. Taya wanted human contact, Taya got human contact. "Snow.. I want snow now" she said outloud laughing to herself.

William looked about the area behind the windshield of his Lincoln TownCar.A convenient little tool, the car was given to him upon request from an organization he was with,it was not needed. He was trying to decide if he would approach the seemingly secure area or keep moving until he found some other place. It almost looked abandon, abandon was no good for him.The gunshot he heard made up his mind very quickly. "Sounds as if test subjects will be available after all.Lets hope alive." Dr.William Mcloy,a remnant of the long decimated Umbrella Corporation.Hopefully the person,or persons, inside the forest wouldn't find his appearance a reflection of his past. The eternal Cheshire cat like smile appearing on his face as it inevitably did.He grabbed his suit jacket from the passenger seat, opened the door to the car and stepped out.He put his coat on neatly, despite the warmth of the area,to conceal his dual .357's.Gleaming silver in the sunlight, they would intimidate most survivors...he did not want to intimidate anyone, yet. He approached the gate and studied it for a moment,it was electrified. He gripped the fence and climbed to the top as quickly as he could. His hands frying from the electricity going through them.As he approached the top he clamped one hand down on the barbed wire and pushed it down so his suit wouldn't be torn as he slid over.He landed a little roughly on the other side, looked up at the top of the fence where a little of his blood remained.Mcloy looked down at his hands, the cuts and burns already healing, and wiped them on each other. As he walked towards the forest he continued to smile and adjusted his hat, humming a song from ages ago. "Well, how secure this place is.Truly remarkable for the times." (The name has a link the the character's profile.Would advise a quick read.)

"Nothing to be concerned of, it's nothing anyone can fix."
The sudden voice caused her to turn, five-seven's raised with her posture adjusting itself to a lower crouch for a more strategic view. When the tension was eased, she lowered the hands to holster the weapons once again. Exhaling gently, Katya raised her hands to grip the backpack as she pulled it over her shoulder a bit to secure it. Katya lowered down to pick up the body with surprising ease, the stench of rotting flesh triggered the elongated tongue to slide out slightly and lick at her lips. Yet there was disgust written across her eyes, yet she still dragged the body onto shore and chucked it up against a tree as she began searching the body.
"Teenage boy? You seem more like old dog lost in mother russia's ice."
She childishly teased, russian accent still loosely on each of her words. It felt odd, knowing there was another russian to pick apart her tongue. Katya merely picked up the accent she enjoyed more over other languages, shrugging it off as she pulled a wallet out of the dead man's pocket and chucked it. Katya resisted every urge to publicly devour the corpse and did her best to hide the fact she was fighting with her own body.
"If you're going to chat about the weather, would you mind taking it elsewhere? I prefer to be alone."
