Andy couldn't react fast enough. Madison had woken up and was quickly realizing what was going on and if she didn't calm down she might go into shock. "Maddie, you need to calm down for me. I am your friend. John is off on patrol and Wrey is gathering resources before it gets too dark. I'm Andy." He said as quick as he could. "John amputated your arm after the little girl bit you. It saved your life." He said simply before grabbing some more things from the medicine cabinet. It was antibiotics to kill any infection before it could set in and cause damage. He handed her two with an opened bottle of water before explaining what it was. "These will kill any infection before it sets in. Luckily I know that you'd need a tetanus shot just in case and gave it to you earlier." He hoped she was calming down but it was a lot to take in.
John stalked through the woods, not caring who or what was out here. He was mad but not dumb. He wasn't trampling through sticks and leaves. He was still silent. He hated this world and wished it had blown itself up long before the outbreak had happened. He wanted it to have just burned in radioactive fire but he wasn't that lucky. He had to see the ones he cared for turned into flesh eating monsters who couldn't even leave the spot they were in. He had to put them out of their misery. After some time he saw that the sun was almost gone and had come across a river and decided to wash the blood from his hands and face. He didn't know where he was but knew how to get back to where he had been.
The water turned red around his hands as he rinsed and watched it wash away. He tried to calm himself down as he watched it go down stream. He ran the water over his face once his hands were clean. After a while he was done and stood up. He was going to start heading back when a noise caught his attention. It was a quiet whimper which he went to investigate. As soon as he found it another noise caught his attention: the cocking of a shotgun. It was right in his ear and didn't know how this guy got the jump on him but he turned to see the man. Instantly he saw the relation and knew that the boy was this man's child. "What do ya want?" Asked the father.
John just shook his head with his hands by his side. The man looked John in the eye and snarled. He was protecting his kid and John understood but John was angry and didn't have time for him. Quickly, John grabbed the gun and aimed it toward the sky and he kicked out the man's leg, making him take a knee. John still had a free hand and used it to snatch the gun away before throwing it into the bushes. The man looked at John in confusion but instead of chasing after him let John go before grabbing his shotgun. John was starting to realize that people were everywhere and you can't escape them.

The thing was, Madison knew well enough that keeping calm was what kept her alive, but this was just too much for her. She had began to panic, and before anything could be done, she lay back and breathed heavily. As the man spoke, she began to calm down more and more. He wasnt going to hurt her, this was for sure. If he knew everyones name, then that meant they had all gotten to know eachoher. Her next though was how long had she been out for, realistic question she asked herself, but didnt bother saying it out loud. It didnt much matter. She was alive, just without the use of her left hand. Finally coming to the conclusion that this wasnt a nightmare, and this was for real, Madison spoke to the new face. "Thank you for everything you did for me. I didnt think I was going to live. When I was out cold, I was back home..."
Finally popping the medication and downing a mouthful of water, Madison relaxed herself, calming down. Her arm hurt so much, but she was focusing on her dream. It just came out, finally. "...Back home. My dad was there. It was christmas eve. I woke up on the couch, I could see the tree lit up and everything. Presents under it, all from him because we didnt know anybody else and he made me promise not to get him anything. He kissed me on the cheek, spoke something into my ear that I didnt really clue in until after, then walked out of the house. He was gone, just like that, on christmas eve. I dont even know why, because he never left me, I was the one who left him..."
As if it was some sort of realization, Madison thought hard about the dream she had, talking to Any. She had to get it out, it felt better when she did, and she wasnt even sure why. "...I tried to open the door, to go after him, but it was locked. The windows were locked too, and I even tried throwing a chair, but it still didnt break. Outside was snowing so hard, and it was so dark, that I couldnt see anything. All I could do was sit on the couch, looking at the tree, and think about why he would leave. Was it his way of telling me I didnt need him anymore? I didnt want to leave when I did, but..."
Reylene and Wrey came back to the campsite to hear Madisons voice, but he didnt say anything, only quietly put the bags beside the cabin, listening to the girls voice through the open window. "...I did. I miss him. I wish I could go home, but I know thats not going to happen again. I miss my friends, my job, my city. I miss it all. Do you think that all of this happened for a reason, Andy?" No matter how long and detailed her story had been, it was easy to tell that Madison wasnt make a whole lot of sense. She was repressing all of the feelings for a long time, and it was just now coming out. Wrey wanted to say something, but felt it was best to just let her talk to Andy.
"Shes gonna be okay, right?", Reylene questioned. "Yeah, I think so. Just needs a little more time to rest, im thinkin."

Andy wasn't sure how to answer her at first but after thinking on it he figured it out. "Well Maddie, I am pretty sure none of this happened just because you left home. Fate is just a cruel b*tch and makes everyone miserable at one point or another. I am sure if your dad saw you, he'd be proud of all that you've done without his help." He explained his thoughts to her as they both sat in the room.
John had come in at the end of the conversation and then realized something that wasn't important because of Madison's wound. He needed to know what that man told her before she got bit. He knew it wasn't just about the infected girl. It had to be more important than that.
"Maddie, I'm glad yer awake, but I have a question. Who was the man who spoke ta ya n what did he say before you were bit. It was urgent info, obviously., so now I need ta know what's going on?" He asked her since Damien had always said he'd find them but it had been months already and no sign of him. John could tell by how the man acted that he was similar to Damien so he wondered what was happening.

[Going to start using Wrey's real name, cause I hate typing Reylene and Wrey. So, Marcus is Wrey]
Thinking on it a little more, Madison figured that maybe Andy was right, but it still made her feel unbearably sad. Things just happen, and she needed to accept it, and right now was a good time as any. Accepting things and moving on, not thinking about the past. You cant ever change it. Reylene had been thinking the same thing, so was Wrey. Everybody lost something, but theyre alive because they could move on from it. What didnt kill you, made you stronger, and in some cases, made you superhuman. "Arcian? I dont think hes coming back. He needed to tell me that Damien didnt make it. It was nothing, im over it already." Thinking about him again though, it made Madison a little more sad, but at least he got his answers, even if it costed him his life. Honestly though, she had no clue if Arc would come back again though, or if he even really went away to begin with. Maybe he was looking out for her still, like he was when he mentioned that the little girl was infected.
Madison didnt purposely keep it from John, she was hiding it from Andy. Keeping that sort of thing on the down low was important, the less people that knew about things that existed out there, the better. The dead rising up and walking was one thing, but a virus capable of turning a human into superman was something way too farfetched for any science. "Hey... Where is Sonya and Jimmy?" It was probably the worst question to ask, but Madison had absolutely no clue what happened. How could she?
~~~
"So, John uses a crossbow, seems to be the ideal weapon for long range if you dont have a decent suppressor on your gun. But bow and arrows? Really?" Marcus and Reylene had been scouting the area around the cabin. When Marcus spoke, the younger female drew up and arrow, putting it in a tree on the outside of the clearing, then drew another and did the same in another tree beside it. This took her under two seconds, and seeing the speed of her shooting made him reconsider the question, but she replied honestly. "Cause I can hit what im aiming at quick enough. I only have a couple manufactured arrows in my bag, most of them are ones I made myself. Different tips for different situations, sort of like ammunition in a gun. Only you dont have to worry about running out of ammo. If there are more of the undead than arrows in my bag, I just run, or find another way to get rid of them."
"Damn..."By how she spoke, Marcus was under the impression that Reylene knew a lot more about the infected then most people did. Its only been about half a year, but wherever she was at the time, she went through a lot. It was just how she spoke. Sort of like John, he was so sure of himself, and confident when it came to killing the walkers. Maybe himself and Madison had just been different, and everybody was like this, but he was thankful. "...Glad your on our side, girl."
Marcus noticed that there wasnt a campfire at their site, but was very strange. Maybe they had a working stove inside, even if it was just a cheap stovetop BBQ, or something. But he didnt ask, just gave his insight on the absence of a fireplace. "Noticed yall didnt have a place for a fire." Reylene responded almost immediately. "Dont need one. Fire makes smoke, smoke attracts attention. I use a hotplate for small things inside, but for most of the meat, we would go into town and cook. Then if anybody seen the smoke, we could get out and not have them know where were located." It was almost too clever. The more he learnt about Reylene, the more Marcus was thankful they found her, and she didnt take off on her own. They could really benifeit from having another person with survival experience other than John. Even if it was from a teenager.
"How the hell do you know all of this?" Marcus asked, curiously. "I just do. Let leave it at that." Reylene responded, mysteriously.
John's head fell at the bad news. He thought Damien was safe with Joey but it didn't appear that way. John had a hundred questions on what happened but knew that that was the extent of her knowledge. He looked her over and saw her arm was doing fine and her color in her face was fine. He took a sigh of relief but it was cut short by Madison's question.
He kept his gaze on the floor. His sight quickly became blurry as he fought his emotions. At first he didn't have anything to say because of how tight his throat had gotten. The ball of ice built up in his throat. "They...um...didn't...They didn't make it." was all he managed to get out before all of his words were lost again.
His shoulders heaved with each sob. Nothing in the world had prepared him for this heartbreak. His eyes were blurred with tears to the point that he couldn't even distinguish the floorboards apart. He silently sobbed next to Madison hoping the world would end to end his suffering but knew no such wish would come to him. He couldn't understand why a child with so much to live for had to die while the ones who deserved death were spared it. He hated everything in the world, himself the most for letting them leave.
