It might have been a good idea, but Katie was still a little skeptical about the two. Things just didnt seem right. Maybe it was her overthinking, and there really wasnt a normal side to this situation, but she really had no idea where was going either way, so the idea could be entertained for as long as it needed to be. Long enough for her to actually decide. "Sounds like a plan, thats for sure. I take it you two had one already then? He could probably paas for your dad, thats what I thought at first." If thats what the two of them had been going for, they did a good job, Before getting a response though, the man Edward came back through the door to the car, and he didnt look so good.
"Cant talk here. I need your help with my bite." It probably wasnt a good time to be announcing something like this in front of Katie, who obviously seemed worried, which meant she was well aware how the infection spread. But she was smart, and didnt say anything, knowing that even if she had the stomach, she couldnt just pull out her gun and shoot him here in public. Shed seen people do it back in Raccoon City, but this wasnt Raccoon City, this wasnt a nightmare. This was reality. "There, bathrooms, lets go." Katie had no clue what she was getting herself into, but knew that she was part of it now.
As thr three got to the womens bathroom, Katie went in first, seen it was empty, and immediately came back out. "Ill stand and block the door, you do whatever you... Yeah." The extraordinary situation made it even more tense with all of the people around them, real people, completely unaware of whats going on. Katie had a feeling she could do this. Inside the bathroom, Edward had been telling Sam about his reactions hes been having, and that theyve been getting worse. Throwing his jacket onto the floor, he turned his arm, exposing the black veiens that coursed upwards to his bicep. "Drain the blood and hope it works. Dont tell me, I know, I shouldve told you sooner, but I didnt know how bad it would get and how quickly it would get there. Not like we had much chance on the train anyways, and we cant go to the hospital."

Sam looked over Edward's arm, resisting the urge to vomit. She didn't know why this affected her any differently than the other injuries she had treated, or the other things they had been forced to do to survive Raccoon City. Maybe it was because they were supposedly out of danger? Had her survival instinct turned off for the time being?
"Oh..oh that looks bad. Your other wound doesn't look like this too right?"
She looked over the wound, careful not to poke and prod at it. It looked like he had developed a blood infection. She'd heard about these in the bloodborn pathogen classes her father had taken her to. It could have been blood poisoning, which wouldn't be a big surprise. What he needed was antibiotics, and soon. With any luck he wouldn't lose the arm.
"We can try and drain it, but you really need antibiotics. We have to fight the infection. I'm amazed your other wound hasn't turned like this. When he get to our next stop, we are going to need to rob a pharmacy. You need some pretty high-powered stuff."

The door to the public bathrooms had been opened, and Jackson could hear footsteps coming through the hallway. His plan to take the target here for his kill just got a little more complicated. Had he not been too deadset on revenge, he wouldve made sure to lock the door. An amature mistake, but it didnt matter. "Shut up, and dont do anything stupid." He whispered into the female Umbrella Employees ear, hauling her into a stall at the far back, standing up onto the toilet seat and pinning her against the wall with his gun aimed at the back of her head. Jackson just listened to whoever came in. It wasnt just anybody, something was wrong, a man and a woman, and the man needed medical attention or something. None the less, this didnt change things, he just had to stay quiet, and make sure Doctor Ivy James did as well.
"We still have fifteen minutes. If we can find a pharmacy now, we can get the antibiotics, and be back on the train before they even call it in. Its not just time, but its worth a shot. I really dont like the idea of leaving this any longer, and I dont think draining it here is a good idea. That might take longer, I really dont know, your the one with medical training." Before Sam could respond, there has a clanking sound coming from the back of the bathroom, and Edward immediately turned see what it was, as did Sam. Edward didnt have a gun on him, and neither did Sam, since hers was in the bag back on the train, so if it turned out somebody heard them, things would get bad.
Jackson felt the womans leg slip on the handle of the stall, which made enough noise to feel things had been compromised, and this needed to get done now. Ripping her back from the wall, Dr Ivy had been thrown from out of the stall, smacking her head on the tiled floor in front of the other two in the bathroom. Jackson didnt have time to bother explaining himself, this was two different situations that needed to be dealt with, without anyone outside the bathroom knowing. In the next moment, the doctors head had been lifted up, and driven into the floor, again and again, until she had been dead. Without trying to seem like he was hostile toward them, Jackson didnt take out his gun.
In the same moment, Katie entered the bathroom, her gun drawn, fearing for the worst, that Edward had been turned and she was going to have to deal with it. But when she saw the body of the woman on the ground, and a new man, she raised her gun. Katie was relieved to see that Edward was okay, but the situation was bad, and she needed to defuse it quickly. "Get Edward back onto the train. We didnt see anything, and neither did you." Before anybody could move, Jackson stepped forward, his hands still up. He had a better idea. "Pharmacy is actually only a block away. Still got ten minutes, I suggest you put that gun down, because im going to be on that train whether you like it or not. Doesnt have to go down like this. I can explain myself, Raccoon City affected me too."
Sam was the only one who know what to look for, so if they were going to get those antibiotics and be back on the train, they had time, and she was the one to be able to pull it off with her speed. If she was going to go, now would be it. Jackson wasnt sure of their story, truthfully didnt care, he just wanted everyone to walk away from this, because he could very easily have drawn his own gun and shot before the brunette evem realized her safety was still on. These people werent killers, they were survivors, and Jackson respected that. "Nine and a half minutes."

Sam looked down at the dead woman, realizing at firs glance that there was nothing they could do to help her. She was very dead, and wasn't coming back. She wasn't sure that the crazy man would do next, but they were in danger if they stayed around him.
"Okay, we're just going to go. And we're going to go fast. We can get to the pharmacy and back on the train. No one else is dying today."
She took Edward's hand, pulling him out of the restroom and back to the car. The police could handle that whack job, but they were not prepared to start a gunfight when they were unarmed. She wasn't too sure if Katie knew which end of the gun to hold, and wasn't going to count on her to save them right now.
"Katie, come on. Not here. Please."
They were on a time table. They needed to get to the pharmacy, and get back. Actually, she needed to get to the pharmacy, and then get back. Edward would slow her down, and she could get there and back before the train left. That way he could rest, Katie could keep an eye on him, and she could move quickly.
She explained her plan to them as she got them back to the sleeping car, grabbing some cash and her pistol, tucking it into the back of her pants. It was a stupid place to put it, but she could conceal it easily that way. She hoped she didn't run into the man outside. He seemed dangerous and crazy, and she didn't want to deal with that right now. She needed to make sure Edward was alright first that was what mattered.

There hadnt been any time for questions, or answers, even though both Katie and Edward had plenty. He was sure that Sam did too, but she wanted the situation to just end, and thats what happened. It was interesting how protective Sam had been, even though she was young enough to be his daughter, she still took his hand and pulled him where she wanted him to go. Katie was second to leave the restroom, knowing full well that if what the man said was right, they would more than likely be seeing him again. Which might have been a good or bad idea, depending on his situation. He mentioned Raccoon City, that was what caught her offguard the most, not the fact he killed a woman in front of them, in cold blood.
As they got back to the tainmcar, Edward lay down in his seat. He felt okay, the wound on his side wasnt infected, hed checked. Maybe the bite on his arm was what Sam said, maybe it was something else, he wasnt sure. But he was greatful that she knew what she was talking about and cared enough about him do do something like this. The reporter, Katie, seemed on board with them too at this point, and made the plan clear with Sam as the girl left with a gun and some money. It was smart taking both, she was more than capable of doing this is she managed her way out of the dead city.
Bloody water pooled down the drain of the sink, and after a brief time washing his hands clean, Jackson fled the bathroom. He didnt care about fingerprints, or anything, there wasnt a chance he was going to get caught. The woman worked for Umbrella, so more than likely would appreciate him doing them the favor after the incident. Thing was, he didnt care, he just wanted to kill every last one of them. Or as many as he could before they eventually got to him.
Jackson saw the girl walking away from the train station, and he decided between following her to make sure she got what she needed without making a scene, or he could go back to the train and see how things played out. The first option was much more appealing, but the second made more sense. It was only a matter of time before the body of the woman was found, but the train would be long gone by the time anybody got a chance to look at the security cameras for the timestamp. Jackson sat down at the back of the train, hoping that the girl managed to hit the pharmacy in time to get back in time. An outbreak on the train would be bad news, if it came down to it.

Sam followed the man's directions, not wanting to miss the train. She needed to move quickly, glad that she was in shape and able to run for long distances, avoiding passerbys on the street. She didn't want to bump into anyone and run into an altercation, so she deftly dodged people that got into her way.
She saw the sign for the pharmacy and beelined for it, slowing down and heading around back, doing her best not to look suspicious. Her father taught her that suspicious people looked like they didn't belong, so if she didn't draw attention to herself she had a good chance of her plan working. She kept one hand on the gun at her back, and used her foot to knock loudly at the back door to the pharmacy entrance. If she was very lucky there would be a curious tech wanting to know what the noise was and investigate.

"Just sit still. Christ, this is so stupid. Sorry, just a little on edge. Ive seen a lot of messed up things, but this was all happening so quickly. If you feel yourself getting a fever, or just feeling strange, you need to lemme know. Id rather not be the one you sink your teeth into while im looking the other way." Edward listened to Katie, and understood where she was coming from. He wasnt going to turn, at least he didnt think so, anyways. He really had no clue what was going on. Clearly it was blood poisoning like Sam said, but it wasnt just a coincidence, it had to be something to do with his bite. Edward wasnt going to bother explaining things to Katie, it didnt matter, their situation didnt changed. He felt more secure knowing somebody else was around who knew how to deal with the situation.
Thats when he noticed the man coming back onto the train, the same one they were on. He was so calm, and really didnt seem like a psychopath or anything. Even though he killed that woman in clear sight, and without any remorse, it seemed personal, not random. The way he carried himself made Edward think that he was a cop. It would be another nine hours til the next stop, so luckily, they had an opportunity to plan around this guy. Clearly he knew something about Raccoon City, and he knew that they knew, everyone eas on the same page. Or were they really?
~~~
The banging the door came quick and sudden. The pharmacy clerk looked up at the clock, noticing that it wasnt even four o clock yet. The delivery was always on time, if not late, never early. None the less, he threw down the magazine, an went for the door, seeing the actual pharmacist sitting in her office, on the phone. She was on there for while, too, and he wasnt about to bother her for a delivery, but he could handle it on his own. Opening the door, the man held it open, waiting for somebody to open it up the rest of the way and start hauling in boxes. "You guys need any help?"
"Actually, yes."
Sam pulled out her gun, and slipped into the door as the man stepped back. She didn't have time for him to do something stupid, so she placed her free hand over his mouth and made sure the gun was focused right between his eyes. Her father said people always saw the gun, not the person holding it. She hoped this proved true now. She kept her voice low as she spoke to the man, not wanting to have a problem.
"Listen, I'm not going to hurt you. I want Amoxicilin, Ampicilin and Bactrim. Point it out, take me to it, stay quiet and you don't get hurt, and get a couple hundred bucks for your trouble. Sound good? Nod if you agree."
The gun is what set the man off the most, but before he could shout for the doctors help in the other room, his mouth had been covered. He wasnt going to shout anyways, but it was a thought, one that quickly went away when he realized the situation he was in. The girl looked to be maybe twenty, couldnt have been any older. She wasnt exactly robbing him, thats what made the situation a little different. She asked for three different prescription medications, and offered money for them. This being said, they werent anything that could be abused, this wasnt a different sort of need. He didnt want to get involved, but knew that the girl mustve been in trouble, needed the meds to help somebody, but didnt want any paperwork involved.
At this point, he didnt even want the doctor in the next room to realize what was going on, because the situation would get worse, and he didnt want to die today over prescription drugs that would help somebody anyways. But there was a problem, and this was going to make things worse for her. Trying to stay calm, the man spoke, really hoping he was killed over the discovery. "The drawers are locked, and the doctor has the keys. Im sorry, im just reception. Ill back you up, but you need the keys from him. I wont call the police. I know you need those to help somebody."
~~~
Checking the clock, there didnt seem to be much time left, and when the announcement was made that this was the final boarding call, Katie got worried. Edward was worried too, less about himself, and more about leaving Sam behind. At this point, maybe it was better to get off the train, and just settle here, find another ride to Nebraska. "Lets go, the hell with this. Im not leaving her behind." Katie nodded, knowing it was the best thing to do. The both of them stepped up from their seats, and moved off of the train. They didnt really have anything with them thankfully, aside om Sams bag. Everyone was in Edwards pocket, the cash more importantly.
The train drove away down the tracks. As it did, Katie watched as a staff member at the station tried to get the door to the restrooms open. The door being locked mustve been reported by somebody needed to get in. They would eventually get in there, and find the body, and this whole station would be evacuated and swarmed with police in a better of minutes. The pair left the station, standing in an allyway that was across from the pharmacy, waiting for Sam to finish up inside. This whole thing was getting out of hand, but they were ahead of it. Any second now, Sam would come out.
Jackson stepped around the corner, hand on his hip, and leaned against the wall. A scream filled the front of the station, and people ran out, terrified of their discovery. The ruffian spoke out in a serious tone, really hoping the two wouldnt do anything stupid. He didnt want to trouble them, they were already in trouble since they missed that train. "My problem is now your problem. So, with the natural order of things, I guess that makes your problem, my problem. Ill be damned if I let him turn and cause another incident, and I dont think your prepared to shoot him if he does. Wait until your little girlfriend gets those meds your looking for, and we can leave town. Itll be at least an hour before they check those camera, so were not wanted until then. Plenty of time to treat his ass, and then find somewhere outside town to lay low."

Sam nodded, taking a step back from the man. She lowered the weapon, but didn't put it away. She just needed to get the antibiotics and get out of the store while she still had time. Soon the train would be leaving, and she didn't want to have to try and catch up to it.
"Tell her you have a pickup. Bag them, hand them over, and the money's your alright? I really need to get these to someone."
She nodded to where the man had pointed, and made sure she was out of sight. She didn't want the pharmacist to see her and start a problem. She could bribe one person, she wasn't sure about two.

"Yeah, but you owe us that explaination. Really, I dont care about the woman you killed, but you mentioned Raccoon City. The two of us have questions, and if were going to be traveling together for any period of time, I want those answers sooner rather than later." The fact how Edward and Katie were so alike was uncanny. Both of her had similar jobs, or at least when I came down to it, they wanted the same out come. How they got the information mightve been a little different. Between the two of them, they could solve this thing, and now knowing what this guy knows, along with Sams intelligence and perserverence, they would get to the bottom of it. "Fair enough. How bout we speed this up..." Edward wasnt sure what to expect next, but he seen Katie go for her gun, but the man walked away. And toward the pharmacy.
"Okay, yes. You can trust me. Thats good, that will work. Hold on." Knowing the girl was in a rush made things worse, and the man going painfully slow, which wasnt helping either. As he went for the doctor office, the man opened up the door, interrupting the doctor, saying they had an order. Everything had been going great, until the front door opened. The receptionist casually walked back to the girl, noticing the man walk in, and trying to make things seem like they were all normal. Without even saying anything to girl, he just complied, and gathered up the antibiotics.
Jackson stepped through the front door, and walked around the store, keeping an eye on both the girl and the man, and the door where he came from. He wasnt sure how thr girl would react, but she was busy doing what she did, and she looked to be doing it right too since no alarms had been tripped and the receptionst was holding up well. Jackson was surprised.
Just then, the office door opened, and quickly as it happened, Jackson ran for the office, kicking the doctor to the floor without hurting him too much, and pulled out his gun. Things were going too good to have them mess up now. "Stay down, and dont move." He told the doctor. "You best take those drugs and leave, our friends are waiting. Seems we missed our train..." Jackson knew the girl was already on bat terms with her, but soon as she left the pharmacy, the others would see her and take her out of here. It was all unfortunate, but if there was one thing he learned, it was that he didnt care if luck was on his side or not.

Sam silently cursed her luck as the psychotic man from earlier had returned. Now things had gotten complicated. Very. Damn. Complicated. There was no way they could make a quiet exit now, and they'd have to elude the police while trying to find another way out of town. If what the man was saying was true, and the train had left, she was going to have to find a place to hold up until Edward was better.
"Okay, everyone just calm down, no one has to get hurt. Stop pointing a gun at him, we're going to take the meds, and leave. No problems, no need for any more violence."
She took the bag of antibiotics from the receptionist, and motioned for him to go help the pharmacist up. If they were very lucky, they could convince the man to turn his head on this one, and make a few dollars from it. She lowered her weapon so the two men wouldn't do anything rash, and spoke calmly, hoping to diffuse the situation.
"Listen, I know this is probably the strangest robbery you've ever had. We're not taking your pain drugs. I needed some antibiotics for someone. If you're not going to call the police, we can leave here quietly, and no one has to get hurt. I'm even leaving money here, a lot more than the drugs are worth, to buy your silence. I was hoping this would have gone better, but please, we just need the medications, and we are leaving. We're not going to hurt you."

At this point, between Jacksons brute force, and the girls very convincing and rational words, the situation was defused. Slipping his revolver back into his pocket, Jackson walked into the office past the man, and ripped the cable from the wall before walking back past everyone and out of the store. The girl had things taken care of, one way or another, and didnt think anything else of it. Police cars had began showing up at the station, which was fairly tense considering the robbery happening here at the pharmacy, but the girl was handling things fine. Theres no way they would, or could make the call, and were too intimidated to leave the store for help, so they had enough time to get away soon as she was out of there.
Within the next minute, the girl had left the pharmacy, and seen Jackson along with the other two, and then they were all together. It was obvious that she wasnt liking him being here, and that he stuck his nose where it didnt belong, and made their situation even more messed up then it needed to be, but this was his time for answers. The ally lead to an adjacent street, which is where they headed while he spoke.
"You dont have to like me, a lot of people dont. I do bad things, but to bad people. That lady I killed, she was Umbrella. Posted here to find people like you. After Raccoon City, they set up people all over the neighboring stations, highway checkpoints. Maybe they knew who you were, maybe not, but I guarentee you there are people out there who know you. The reason I took out that woman was because Umbrella was responsible for this whole thing in the first place, and they dont deserve to come out of this as survivors. Not when people like you and him and the reporter fought hard to start alive..."
The more he talked, the more Edward believed him. He couldnt make all of this up, because it wasnt just a story, it was the truth. And it made sense. it would have to make sense to Sam as well, and Katie. The group casually moved through the next street, rounding a corner. They were heading out of town, already on the outskirts. They all seemed to have the same idea. But Jackson continued.
"Theyre after all of us. We have the same problem, regardless how your opinion of me. Im not your enemy, im doing exactly what you need to be doing, fighting for your life now. I dont know what it was like in Raccoon City, I was out of town when it happened. But if youve been watching the news as of the last few hoursm they know it was Umbrella that dropped those bombs. I managed to get some information of one of them, not anymore than you all know, but enough to know whatever happened in that city was bad. And infection, spread through bites. I heard you talk to the cop here about his cite, put two and two together, and I couldnt just leave you be."
It probably all sounded crazy, but Katie and Edward were both on the same page now. There would be plenty of time to tell him what actually went on in the city, but there had to have been some personal agenda of his for the guy to be doing something this personal. Edward wanted Sam to be the one who asked him the questions, her being the one who had the idea to work with him on this in the first place. He knew that Sam would ask because its who she is. They had time when they reached a gas station or something outside of town.

Sam didn't want to draw attention to them anymore than they already had. They needed to make a quick getaway, and find some way to get out of the town quickly. If Umbrella was really looking for them, then they had to vanish before they knew of their agent's death. Life certainly had gotten complicated over the past few days!
"I've got the medication. Sorry you'll have to dry swallow these, but we can get you on the medications right now."
She handed Edward two of the Bactrim pills, wanting to hit him with the heavy antibiotics first. When they stopped, she could give him the other ones to help fight the infection. She could stagger them until he was feeling better. She didn't want to drain his arm if she didn't have to but that may end up being their only option if he didn't start getting better.
"Where are we going from here? We need some place we can get off the street. I don't want to be anywhere near the train station right now."

Seemed nobody really knew where they were going exactly, but as they got closer to the less sparce part of town, their looked to be a diner about a quarter mile not far from the highway. It would at least 6 hours before they could release camera footage to the news, Katie knew from experience, so they had plenty of time to lay low. And where there had been a diner, there was people who had answers to local questions. "Its after dinner hours, ill be willing to bet that place down there would be perfect." The others didnt seem to have any objections, and made their way to the diner.
Edward hated pills, always did. Not having water on them made them taste worse. At least when he had to smell the flesh of the dead, he could block his nose, but the antibiotics were just unbearably strong tasting. But they would work, or help, he trusted Sam enough with this. Luckily enough he was fine enough to move on his own, and quick enough if they needed to run, but taking a break soon would be appreciated, though it was already implied. On top of that, the diner would have food.
Inside seemed very casual, and within a few minutes, they had been seated, and the waitress came over to them. "Not liking the five o clock rush hour, huh? Good timing, indeed. What can I get yall?" Katie was the first to order, getting a simple soup and sandwich, then Jackson with a steak, and Edward follow up with the same as him. It felt strange being asked what he wanted to eat, but they had the choice now. It was Sams turn, and something told Edward she was going to be asking lots of questions now.
