This is a story I have been working on and adding to for the past five years. This is the first time I have posted it anywhere for people to read. Enjoy.
CHEMICAL IMBALANCE
Prologue to the Events Investigated by this Report:
The twenty-first century has seen advances in medical and chemical technologies. In the wake of these wonders, several companies were founded to aide in the exploitation of these advances and distribute them to the common good. As government regulations began to hamper the research of the companies, each of them began to slowly die off. It was then that the companies’ research was taken over by the United States Weapons Development Research Center. When the USWDRC was unable to find a way to work any use of the technology, a corporation called Integrated Genetic Technologies, offered to purchase the research at $750,000,000. The agency replied that they would allow several researchers from Integrated Genetics to join the team to aid in the experiments. At the request of one Dr. Edward Merchant, a wealthy, eccentric researcher working with the USWDRC, the entire efforts of the research was to be based in a small Virginia city located high in the Appalachian Mountains near the Virginia/West Virginia border. It was then that Integrated Genetics went behind the USWDRC’s back and sent in a branch company of theirs called Cloverleaf Industries into the city to create a perfect place to conduct their own research from the reports sent back by their own scientists working in the facility with Merchant. This secret exchange lasted for about three years until…
WESTOVER GAZETTE
MASS MURDERS DISCOVERED IN FOREST REGION!
Over the past five months several children, mostly between the ages of five to thirteen, have shown up to be missing in the Westover area. Now, after months of searching, we have found that the worse case scenario has occurred. Photos of the children’s mutilated bodies have shown up in Mayor Brinkley's office by unknown means. With no other possible choice, the Westover Metropolitan Police Department has had to call in a special team to help sort out the matter and hopefully find the culprit or culprits and bring them to justice. The team is being borrowed from the international policing bureau known as the Federal Police Department. The team is called special SORT (Special Operation and Rescue Team).
The multi-award winning commander, Captain John C. MacDagget, heads the team. As you may have read, Capt. MacDagget has been responsible for bringing in more than five of the Federal Police Department's most wanted suspects. Before his team set off from the headquarters of the Federal Police Department, MacDagget reported the following over the telephone with this reporter:
"My team and I will do our best to find the person or persons who have been doing this to your children and will personally put an end to this. We will not rest until we find them and stop them. They can't hide forever."
Our hopes and prayers go out with the SORT team as it ventures out as soon as it arrives in Westover sometime tomorrow…
The Shadow Before
The helicopter flew low as it passed over the forest region of Westover. They were approaching the city to land. MacDagget looked at Wilkins with a small amount of pride. He had trained Wilkins and taught him everything he knew. Wilkins was only five years younger than him, but MacDagget held him in the highest respect. As they landed atop of the police precinct, the mayor of Westover, Eric Brinkley, and the chief of police, Jack Napier, greeted them. "Thank you for coming so quickly." said the mayor, as he shook MacDagget's hand. "Have you been briefed on the situation?" asked Napier, as they traveled down to the interior of the station, which lead the team past several offices and interrogation rooms. "My team has been informed that the city of Westover has suffered through a series of unexplained and unresolved disappearances of children, ages ranging from thirteen to as young as four, and that a family of five was murdered in their home near the forest region surrounding the city. It is my understanding that the family murder has been kept under wraps to keep panic down,” replied MacDagget, as he read from a file that he had brought with him from the SORT Office. "You are correct, but that isn't everything," said Brinkley, as he produced a small photo folder containing three photographs. MacDagget took the pictures and reviewed them and saw that they showed bodies of small children, teenagers, and a few adults mutilated. "Where did your people find the bodies?" asked MacDagget, as he looked at the mayor and the chief. "We didn't." replied the chief. "They were mailed to us this morning." "Did it have a return address?" asked MacDagget, as he handed the pictures back to the chief. "No. The mayor found it on his desk this morning. There were also bloody footprints coming into his window and down the side of the building. The footprints led to the woods," replied the chief. "Alright. My team is going into those woods and we're not coming out until we find a body. I'm leaving Sgt. Kennedy here at the police station for communications. Corporal Gradenko, Major Wilkins, and Sgt. Kiev will join me into the forest. Chief, does your department have any extra supplies?" asked MacDagget. "All we have is a small cache of munitions for our SWAT team. A supply of MP-5 Submachine guns and ammunition is all we can spare from heavy weaponry. We do have a large supply of shotguns and Berettas," replied the chief. "We'll take four shotguns, four Berettas, and ten clips of ammunition for each," said MacDagget to the chief. "You got it." “Fine. Arm my team with the weaponry and we venture out tonight." After leaving the station, Kennedy looked at MacDagget quizzically. "You seem concerned about something, Kennedy, What's the matter?" asked MacDagget. "Why did you choose me to stay behind? Wilkins could do it as well. You could need a medical officer out there." "Wilkins is animal control and munitions as well as my communications link to you and this station. Plus, your one of the only members on my team who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn." laughed MacDagget, as he patted Kennedy on the back. Kennedy left the conversation at that and returned to the police station. That night, the team embarked into the forest surrounding Westover. Alexia and Kiev went one-way, MacDagget and Wilkins another. As MacDagget and Wilkins walked through the woods, the sounds of the Virginia wildlife surrounded them. The leaves crunched under their feet as they walked. Suddenly, Wilkins stopped in his tracks and drew his Berretta. “What is it? You see something?” asked MacDagget, as he pulled the shotgun from the sling over his shoulder and readied it. “Thought I heard a noise.” returned Wilkins; as he took a slow scan of the surrounding area. Once he felt secure, he re-holstered his Berretta and continued along with MacDagget slowly through the forest. After several hours, the moon began to light the forest with its full glow. MacDagget and Wilkins had combed almost ten miles of woods when they heard a woman scream. "Hurry!" ordered MacDagget, as he and Wilkins ran to the sounds of the scream. As they got closer, they heard the sounds of gunfire. "Alexia and Kiev!" yelled Wilkins, as he pulled the shotgun from his backpack. When they arrived where the screaming came from, they found a bloody hand holding a Beretta lying on the ground and the remains of Alexia, except for her head. They also found blood splattered on nearby trees. "Wilkins," said MacDagget, as he drew his shogun as well. "Get the Westover Police Department on the radio and tell them to send in SWAT immediately and call for another SORT team." "Affirmative." replied Wilkins remorsefully, as he took the radio transmitter from his collar and attempted to call into Westover, but only heard static. "Captain, there's no response. The radio's useless!" yelled Wilkins, as he took the radio itself from his backpack and began to fumble with the controls. MacDagget began to pace around Wilkins, waiting impatiently for him to reach the Westover Police Department. Just then, he heard heavy footsteps from behind him. He turned and something quickly evaded his sight. "Wilkins!" cried MacDagget, as he picked up his shotgun and aimed it in front of him. He was answered by Wilkins' screams. "Captain! Help me!" cried Wilkins, as he ran into the woods. Something was after him. MacDagget quickly gave chase. "What's chasing you!" yelled MacDagget, as he followed the sounds of Wilkins' screams. He then heard three blasts from a shotgun and a blood-curdling cry from some creature from beyond. "Captain!" yelled Wilkins again, as MacDagget ran up to him. "What chased you?" inquired MacDagget, as he grabbed Wilkins by the shoulders. "I don't know what it was. I didn't get a very good look at it, but I did manage to see that it had sharp teeth. All I did was fire the shotgun blindly behind me. When I heard it scream, I turned to see what it was, but nothing was there." "Alright, I say we go back to Westover and regroup. Alexia is dead and Kiev is missing," said MacDagget. Just then two large balls fell from above. MacDagget and Wilkins looked and saw that they were Alexia and Kiev's heads. They then looked up and saw it. The creature was large and scaly, with spade clawed hands. Its head was misshapen, almost human, but the eyes were in the cheeks. The mouth was filled with crooked razor, sharp teeth. "My God, what is that thing?" asked Wilkins, as he reached for his shotgun. The creature simply sat there looking at them. MacDagget also aimed his shotgun and fired at the creature. The creature simply hissed at him. "I couldn't have missed!" whispered MacDagget to Wilkins. "I know." replied Wilkins, as he pointed to it's side. "You didn't. There is blood coming out of its side." Wilkins then also began to fire at it. The creature roared in rage as the shots hit it. It then jumped down from the tree and stood in front of them. It stared first at MacDagget then at Wilkins in a quizzical manner. The creature then clawed Wilkins across the stomach, slashing out chunks of flesh. MacDagget then lifted Wilkins over his shoulder and began to run deeper into the forest. Every so often, MacDagget would turn around, run backwards, and fire his Beretta into the creature's head, but it didn't seem to affect it. It seemed that he had run for hours when MacDagget came to a large metal fence in the middle of the woods. MacDagget helped Wilkins to climb up the fence after checking for the creature. Just as Wilkins had touched down on the opposite side, the creature had caught up to them and tackled MacDagget. MacDagget and the creature struggled around on the ground, MacDagget holding back the creatures' arms and pressing it away from his face. Spit and slime covered MacDagget's uniform as the creature tried to bite his hands and face. Suddenly, MacDagget heard the sound o something charging up and then the sound of an air gun going off. The creature immediately stopped moving and went limp. MacDagget pushed the creature off of him and got to his feet. He then saw that several armed military officers surrounded him. "Mr. John MacDagget!" yelled a man from behind the soldiers. "Yes." replied MacDagget nervously, as he gasped for breath. "Sorry for the mess here. It seems you have run into one of our experiments," said the man, as he stepped forward. He was a short, slightly balding man wearing a white lab coat with an identification card on the front. "Who are you people? What kind of experiment?" demanded MacDagget, as the soldiers picked up the creature and took it away. "My name is Dr. Edward Merchant. I am commanding scientist at this facility. My research is of the highest importance for the United States military and the fate of the free world. This entire facility is dedicated to the freedom of the enslaved men, women, and children of the world." "If your facility is dedicated to freedom, why do you have that unholy monster!" demanded MacDagget, as he approached Merchant. "Unholy monster? That is one of our many newly developed anti bio-terrorist weapons. This one merely broke free from the lab table that we were holding it in for transfer into its cage. Sorry for any inconvenience to your town." "Inconvenience? That thing has taken innocent children!" "Children? You mean the test subjects my staff has been collecting for the past six months? Believe me, Mr. MacDagget; the parents will receive proper compensation for their losses. A check, of course, summing of about one hundred thousand dollars." "You think that money is going to change anything? Your butchering innocent children for the government to produce anti bio-terrorist weapons you sick sadistic freak? What sort of human beings are you?" "Listen!" yelled Merchant, as his eyes flared with anger. "I am protecting the rights of freedom loving Americans. No one stands in the way of progress. I haven't always just studied to protect. I tried to cure cancer, AIDS, every single incurable disease you can think of, and I failed at every attempt. Now, I work to stop biohazard outbreaks. I come up with ideas on how to battle bio terrorist attacks."

The continuation of the above.
"Your not listening, you stupid egghead! Testing deadly toxins on children isn't the only way to find cures or defenses. Animal testing…" replied MacDagget, but Merchant interrupted him. "Animal testing is banned because of organizations like Earth First, Green Peace, Animal Rights Unions of America." "Your insane." "Fine. Think whatever you wish. You and your friend will be spending time here in our company." said Merchant, as two soldiers grabbed MacDagget and three helped Wilkins to his feet and escorted them to the facility. "The police are waiting to hear from us. If we don't radio in.," said MacDagget, as he struggled to get free from the soldiers. "Radios don't work in the area of this facility," replied Merchant coolly, as he followed behind the mass of soldiers. "Another SORT team will be sent in. They have pictures of what you people have done." Said MacDagget, as he turned his head back to look Merchant in the face. Merchant stopped dead in his tracks when he heard this. "Pictures? Of what?" he asked, with a hint of fear in his voice, the fear of discovery. "Bodies butchered in a pile. Blood and body parts everywhere." "How could this happen?" mused Merchant, as he lowered his head to the ground. The mass of soldiers stopped when they noticed Merchant wasn't following them anymore. "My research was going to change the world of warfare forever. Alas, you MacDagget have given the Westover Police Department a real reason to search the entire forest with a greater number of men." "The photo was hand delivered by someone who came in through the window. His feet were bloody." "Carthage!" screamed Merchant, as he turned to one of the soldiers and took his machine gun. "You idiots! You were supposed to eliminate him before he reached the town! Why didn't you do this?" "He was too fast, but we did eliminate him," replied the soldier whom Merchant had taken the machine gun from. "Morons! He had evidence against our efforts!" yelled Merchant, as he fired the machine gun into the soldier and then fired it at several other soldiers, killing most of the men in the area. "Merchant! Your insane!" yelled MacDagget, as he punched the soldiers restraining him and then he tackled Merchant. He then grabbed Wilkins and began to run away. "MacDagget! Stop or my men will gun you and Wilkins down!" yelled Merchant, as the remaining soldiers aimed their weapons at MacDagget and Wilkins. MacDagget took one look at the soldiers and then carefully placed Wilkins on the ground and raised his hands above his head. The soldiers then moved in on MacDagget and took away his and Wilkins' weapons. "Escort MacDagget and Wilkins into Lab 5-B. I'll be along shortly." Ordered Merchant, as he handed the machine gun to one of the soldiers and pulled a small radio out of his coat. The radio was different from any other MacDagget had ever seen. It was almost like a telephone, except for the fact that it had channels. As MacDagget and Wilkins were taken away, MacDagget heard Merchant order into the radio for the bodies of the dead soldiers to be cleaned and taken to the Packing Level. As the electronic door slide shut, MacDagget looked at Wilkins and saw that his wounds were very serious. If Wilkins didn't receive medical attention soon, he was going to die. "Wilkins." he said as he grabbed his shoulder. "Yes, Captain." answered Wilkins lazily, as if he was sedated. "How do you feel?" "Pain's unbearable, sir. I think my leg is broken, possibly some internal bleeding as well. I'm not going to make it, am I?" MacDagget lowered his head and looked at the floor. "I thought so," sighed Wilkins, as he coughed several times. Wilkins then reached into his boot and produced a large combat knife. "Take it. I might not make it, but at least you'll have a chance." "Wilkins, don't think like that. I'll get you to the hospital." "No, you won't. Westover has to be miles from here and I can't walk." Just as MacDagget took the knife, the electronic door slid open and Merchant walked in. MacDagget quickly concealed the knife into his sleeve. Merchant calmly entered the room as he smiled at Wilkins and MacDagget. Blood was on his lab coat in several patches. "Mr. Wilkins, it seems you have been injured. I'll have you transferred to the medical area immediately. There, you will receive treatment for your wounds." said Merchant, as a solider appeared from behind him and lifted Wilkins up and took him away. "Merchant, just because you show a limited amount of basic humanity doesn't make you human," said MacDagget coldly. "I don't have time for humanity. Scientists all around the world waste their lives away trying to help mankind. What do they have to show for it? Nothing. A few cures for diseases? I, on the other hand, work for profit." "Profit? I thought you were developing anti-bio-chemical weapons for the United States government?" "You see, the United States pays me to deliver unto them agents that can stand up to certain bio-chemicals. One such agent you have already met tonight. I also supply several public school systems with a steady supply of lunchmeat. You remember the soldiers I shot? They are going through a process to be basically tuned into hamburger, chuck wagons, and other forms of meat products. Your friend Wilkins will be joining them." "Monster! Your feeding children human beings! That is sick!" "Yes! Also, the children that we have borrowed and found useless have also been turned into school lunch!" laughed Merchant, as he sat down in a chair. "Merchant, why?" asked MacDagget, solemnly. "Why do you even contemplate this?" "I have wasted my life working, no slaving, away for humanity. Now, I'm receiving my back pay, or should I say pay back! Revenge!" "Revenge? That's the whole plan? Revenge on what? On who?" "The United States of America has for too long been a superpower. The time has come for the tables to turn. I have developed bacteria that can literally waste human flesh down to nothing! I'm going to sell it to the highest bidder, an right now, Russia is the highest so far, at exactly $750,000,000." said Merchant calmly. "Your going to sell a deadly bacteria to anyone who can cough up enough cash to appease you?" asked MacDagget, as he stared at Merchant with disbelief. "That's the plan. Then, when I sell the bacteria, I'll be safe and sound, living ten miles under Westover, in a level 4 Bio-Containment Area. I'll be drinking my own health, when this world's gone the way of the dodo." "You're going to be the last human alive! Why kill everyone on earth?" "I won't be alone, I'll have several female companions to join me on the journey to refurnish the earth." "What about me?" "You're going to be the first to actually field test the bacteria. I'll be filthy rich and you, well you'll go to heaven!" laughed Merchant, as he got up to leave. MacDagget then made his mover. He jumped on Merchant's back and began to try to slit his throat. Merchant began to struggle violently as MacDagget held his arms around his throat. Suddenly, Merchant jumped back and landed on the floor, with MacDagget to break his fall. Merchant then turned over and gripped his hands around MacDagget's throat. His grip was unusually strong for such a small man. "MacDagget, I've changed my mind." spat Merchant, as his eyes filled with malice. "I'm going to just choke you to death and then I think I'll do research on you." Merchant's hands then began to squeeze MacDagget's neck tighter. MacDagget then broke free his arms from Merchant's legs and then punched him across the face, sending Merchant to the floor. Just as MacDagget got back to his feet, the door reopened and four soldiers entered the room, guns aimed at him.. Merchant twisted his jaw gently with his hands and looked at MacDagget scornfully. "Men, take Mr. MacDagget to the Testing Area." ordered Merchant to the soldiers, as he spat a glob of blood onto the floor. "I'll teach you to mess with me." finished Merchant, as MacDagget was taken away. Inside the Testing Area, MacDagget saw several electronic doors surrounding the vast room. There were also several large metal boxes in specific areas of the room. Above him, MacDagget saw a network of nets spanning the entire room. At the far side of the room, there was a single window, about twenty feet from the ground, with computer terminals in it. Merchant was also inside the computer room, watching MacDagget with a smile. "MacDagget, this is the training room for the children. The anti-bio-weapons hunt the children down, and kill them. If the children some how survive, we take the entire line of weapons back to formula and begin again. This will be my weapons' first test against an adult subject. I hope for your sake you lose," echoed Merchant's voice over a loud speaker. Suddenly, the sounds of machinery starting up filled the room. Then, one of the electronic doors opened and a large, dog-like creature emerged. Its body was covered by an exoskeleton of metal and wiring. Its mouth was muzzled completely by a solid metal faceplate. The thing scanned the room, looking fro something, but didn't move. "This is our first test. This is the anti-terrorist Attacker. It tracks explosives and bio-terrorist materials. Right now, it doesn't pick up any sort of emergency. Now, the frequency of your body is going to be transferred into the computer database of the Attacker. It will read you as a possible threat to humanity." said Merchant, as the creature suddenly jerked its head in MacDagget's direction. The creature then began to give chase to MacDagget. MacDagget quickly jumped out of the way of the creature. In one motion, the Attacker jumped in front of MacDagget. MacDagget immediately kicked it across the head, breaking the facemask that covered its head. As the creature fell to the ground motionless, MacDagget saw the facial features and saw that it was a child, a deformed and mutated child. MacDagget looked down at the child and felt pity for the child and raised his head up towards Merchant's viewing window. "Merchant, you monster!" yelled MacDagget, as he picked up the facemask and threw it at the window. "Temper, temper MacDagget, there are children present!" answered a laughing Dr. Merchant. Suddenly, a large door opened and a tall figure emerged. It had the head of a six year old, but the rest of the body was eight feet of muscles. The child looked at MacDagget with hatred. "This is the ultimate anti-bio-weapon!" laughed Merchant, as the monstrous emerged completely into the room. "By accelerating the child's growth rate in the body and giving the child several supplements, we have created the ultimate defense against anything. I call it the Sovereign." MacDagget felt the entire room quake as Sovereign approached him. As it approached him, MacDagget jumped onto one of the crates in the room and grabbed a handful of netting and began to crawl above the creature towards the observation booth. Once he got within ten feet of the window, he began to swing back and forth. Then, with his gained momentum, he let go of the netting and crashed through the window and fell on Merchant. Outside, the Sovereign began to beat on the wall. "Call it off!" ordered MacDagget, as he grabbed Merchant by the collar of his lab coat. Merchant wearily reached into his coat and pulled out a remote control and pressed a button. Immediately after, the Sovereign stopped attacking. MacDagget then punched Merchant across the face. "You can hit me all you wish, MacDagget," coughed Merchant, as blood welled up in his mouth, "but you will never make it out of this facility alive." "We'll see." replied MacDagget, as he punched Merchant yet again and slammed his head against the floor. He then got up and made his way to the door. He then heard the sound of a gun cocking. He turned and saw Merchant aiming a revolver at him. He quickly dodged his shot and kicked the gun out of Merchant's hand and picked it up. "You play with guns, and you'll get hurt," said MacDagget, as he fired the remaining bullets into Merchant's back. He then exited the room. As he walked down the hall of the facility, he saw several soldiers run past him, most of them throwing their guns to the ground, and others carrying brief cases marked as "Biohazard" and "P-Epsilon" As MacDagget turned another corner, he found Wilkins limping down the hall. Blood covered his SORT uniform from his wounds. In his hand he held an M-16 assault rifle. He slowly turned and saw MacDagget and smiled. "How are you, John?" he coughed, as blood spat out of his mouth. "Wilkins, what are you doing?" asked MacDagget, as Wilkins continued down the hall. "I'm going to blow this place up. I found the area he was storing the children in, John. They're all dead. The soldiers had already been in there and killed all of those children," whispered Wilkins, as he turned back to MacDagget and looked him in the eyes. "Why did he do it? They are innocent children, John." "I'll tell you later." said MacDagget, as he grabbed Wilkins by the shoulder and guided him down the hall. Wilkins led MacDagget to a large room with several computer stations, all of which controlled the massive generator below the facility. Wilkins asked MacDagget to set him at one of the consoles and leave. "No. I am not leaving your side," said MacDagget defiantly, as he clasped his hand on Wilkins' shoulder. Wilkins threw his hand off of him and looked up at MacDagget. "Leave me here. I have to overload the system. After that, the reactor will begin to over heat and in five minuets explode. I'll slow you down." Replied Wilkins, as he began to type on the console. MacDagget stared at Wilkins with a new admiration. He saluted him and quickly left the room. As Wilkins' overloaded the system, the facility's alarms began to go off. A computerized voice came over the intercom system and said the system was overheating and an explosion was inevitable. MacDagget quickened his pace at this and sprinted towards the exit. When MacDagget got outside of the facility, he saw that the sun was coming up. Around him, he saw the massive building he had just escaped from. Faintly, he heard the sound of glass breaking and of several explosions. He quickly ran out of the front gate and began to run into the forest. The facility shortly exploded, destroying all the research and the experiments of Dr. Edward Merchant. MacDagget arrived back in Westover and was met by several soldiers and arrested for destruction of government property and murder. He was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences to the Federal Police Prison in Dublin, Ireland, MacDagget’s homeland.
WESTOVER GAZETTE
MACDAGGET MURDERS OWN TEAM IN WESTOVER FOREST AND DESTROYS UNITED STATES MILITARY INSTALLATION!
Early yesterday morning, John MacDagget was taken out of the Westover Forest, soaked in blood and uniform torn in several patches. His guns were missing and he claimed that a secret army installation and government conspiracy had taken place in the region of the Westover Forest. He claimed that a rouge military scientist named Dr. Edward Merchant had killed the children. While it is true that the army had a military base in the area, it is not true that the army took the children. MacDagget claims that bio-experiments had been conducted in our secluded little town and that the army had paid off the families with an undisclosed amount of money. Army officials completely deny MacDagget's claims and have placed him under arrest for destruction of government property and for the murder of the head of the installation that he destroyed. The commander's name has not been given out, waiting the to inform the family of the fallen soldier. Police Chief Napier had the following statement for us:
"MacDagget was rambling when he came back into the precinct. He completely frightened his former teammate, Sgt. Benjamin Kennedy, as he rambled that a monster killed two other SORT team members and that the other had killed himself in the explosion that destroyed the building. We are sorry that we confided in the Federal Police Department in helping us in this matter. From now on, our policing policy will be to handle all situations ourselves. We could have searched those woods ourselves with our SWAT team or with a citizen search party, but procedure stated that we had to call in 'specialists'. From now on, Westover problems remain Westover problems. No outside help."

CLOVERLEAF INDUSTRIES VIRAL STUDIES FACILITY HEAD RESEARCHER: DR. CONSTANTINE KONALI CLASSIFIED INFORMATION: C-4 CLEARANCE OR HIGHER
REPORTS ON THE S-EPILSON VIRUS, E-PILLSON VIRUS
In my opinion, the S-Epsilon virus is ready for cultivation. We have worked out all of the wrinkles in the system of the virus' genetic code. The updated S-Epsilon virus has the ability to revitalize lost brain cells and activate dormant brain cells. With the activation of these cells, the subject begins to increase in height, weight, and brainpower. Adrenaline is pumped into the body to the extent of making the body almost invulnerable. Even after taking several gunshots to a vital area, the subject will continue to thrive for up to three weeks.
After prolonged exposure to the virus, the subject's intelligence begins to take a dramatic drop. Cells begin to deteriorate, making the subject slow and sluggish. In a matter of three days, the subject passes out and is clinically dead. If the subject's body, after death, isn't immediately incinerated, the body will slowly begin to reanimate, creating a creature that wishes to feed off of the flesh of the living. If the anti-virus is administered before death, it is a small chance (10-19% depending on subjects’ metabolism) that the virus will be reversed.
It is not recommended to administer the anti-virus to a subject in the first stage of the virus. If so, the anti-virus will combine with the virus and form a new virus called the E-Pillson virus. The E-Pillson virus takes effect in thirty seconds. We have no actual data on the E-Pillson virus, because once the virus is created, the subject begins to grow large claws on it's hands and feet. It's head moves for the shoulders to the lower back and the size of it is quadrupled. Because of the subject's aggressiveness, we are forced to administer large quantities of sulfuric acid and hydro reginia. Even after poisoning the subject, it can still survive, deepening on the endurance of the subject.
Further research is subjected for the use of this virus. I have sent a sample of this to the Isla Forna Facility. Hopefully, Dr. Kincaid will be able to complete the necessary study required to stop the spread of the E-Pillson virus.
Signed Constantine Konali Part One: The Cloverleaf Industries Incident
“As you can see for yourselves, sirs, the progress we are making with the S-Epsilon virus in combat situations has been extraordinary.” said Dr. Gordon, as he and several board members of Integrated Genetics and Cloverleaf Industries took a tour of the Isla Forna Research and Development Center for Weapons and Military Tactics. As the group walked down the white steel corridors of the facility, they past by several labs that showed scientists dressed in white space suits working over microscopes and computers. “How much further until we see actual results?” asked one of the board members, as they approached the end of the corridor and approached yet another blast proof door. “Don’t worry, Mr. Leichter, patience is a virtue that we here at R&D have learned to master. You and the others will be most impressed with our progress with the newly developed strains.” replied Dr. Gordon, as he swiped his ID card across the card reader beside the door. Inside the new room, a large window separated the tour group from several scientists wearing biohazard suits. The scientists were armed with electrical cattle prods, which the were using on a large, skinless creature. The creature stood about six feet tall, its head completely skinless. The thing’s brain seemed to pulse as it screamed with each prod with the sticks. It’s hands were a series of spikes and bones. Across the back, the creature had a surgical implant of several wires and input devices. “This is the beginning of our new line of bio-weapons,” announced Dr. Gordon with a flourish. “ Gentlemen, this is the future of warfare, unfolding before our eyes. What I now ask of you, is further funding.” “Can we be sure that these creatures can be controlled?” “I assure you, we are in complete control of them. You see the implants on the subject’s back? They are a direct link up with our satellite system. We can deliver commands directly into their brains, which will be immediately carried out.” “Then why do the handlers have so much trouble in wrangling them back into their cages?” “Well, with the budget being what it is, we haven’t been able to get a steady connection to the Integrated Genetics Communications satellite..” “Then I see no reason to continue the progress into the bio-weapons division. I believe we can call this meeting to a close.” “Wait no!!!” cried Dr. Gordon, as the board members filed out of the area towards the exit. That night, Dr. Gordon stayed in his study, scanning over several files and folders containing the exact synthesis of the viral agents in use at the facility. At the same time, Dr. Kincaid was working in the security center. “Sir, what are you doing here?” asked one of the guards who came in as Dr. Kincaid typed frantically on the keyboard. “I’m covering my tracks.” he replied, as he pulled a Berretta out of his lab coat and plugged two suppressed shots into the guard’s head. As the guard fell dead, Kincaid took his ID card and swiped it across the computer terminal. After he did it, the following message appeared on the computer screen: ALERT!!!ALERT!!!!! MALFUNCTION!!!!!LOCK RELEASE IN 2:00:00 With that, Dr. Kincaid rushed down the catwalk towards his laboratory to finish his mission when the alarm went off. The lights began to flash and the doors all went into lock down. Suddenly, several screams went out throughout the facility. "The bio-organic weapons have escaped!" he cried as he ran to the evacuation chamber, completely forgetting his objective. All around him, he could hear the cries of his colleagues being attacked by the creatures. As he ran to the door of the chamber, Dr. Gordon ran up to him screaming. "You monster! You let them escape!" He cried as one of the creatures grabbed him and tossed him off of the catwalk twenty feet down into a vat of chemicals. All Dr. Kincaid could do was enter the code to open the door and let he enter the safety of the evacuation chamber. As men crammed to enter the chamber, Dr. Kincaid turned on the fail safe to make sure that the doors would not open to any code entered into the system. As the scientists were slain, he was safely shipped out of the facility to a helicopter waiting for him outside. As the helicopter began to lift off, Dr. Kincaid reached for his cellular phone and dialed the number to the European branch of Cloverleaf Industries. "Hello. Dr. Billows? Yes, it's me, William. I have done as you said. Is the $100,000 in my account yet? Good. I'll be there to celebrate with you in about three hours. Yes. One thing through, I failed to retrieve the disk. But… yes, I'll get on it right away. Will I be getting one of you retrieval squads? Oh. Okay. And what shall the code be to reenter the system? Got it. You shall have your disk by the end of the month, tops. Yes. Good bye." As he turned off his cell phone, he told the pilot to change course to the United States of America.
Two weeks later…
The conference room was filled with soldiers in battle fatigues. At the head of the room was General Nicolas Durant, head of Cloverleaf Industries' special task force. At his side was Dr. Kincaid. "Your mission is simple. You are to go to Isla Forna and retrieve this," said Durant, as he picked up a remote to the side projector and a photo of a large silver disk came upon the screen. "This disk holds information vital to Cloverleaf Industries. In return for getting this disk, the company is willing to pay each of you $50,000 U.S. payable only when the disk has been brought back to HQ. Now, we have equipped each of you with a special Tesla Rifle. It fires out a charge of electricity of about 500,000 volts. Please do not fire these weapons unless you assault rifles fail you. The Tesla Rifles are on a battery. If you need to recharge the battery, simply take the connector on the pack strapped to your backs, and plug it into any type of wall socket. That is all I have to say on this matter. Are there any questions?" "Yes, sir." Said a voice from the crowd. "Stand up and be recognized, soldier." Replied Durant. A young man, about seven feet tall stood up. His name was Edward Rainsford. "What sort of opposition are we facing on this island to need these electronic rifles?" "That shall be revealed when you arrive on the island when and if you encounter anything. Is that all?" "No, sir. Why would Cloverleaf Industries send us instead of their own task force that you yourself head up?" "You ask a lot of questions. If you must know, our task force is at this time involved in maneuvers in Moscow to recover data there." "Why is this disk so important, sir, to Cloverleaf Industries?" "It contains classified information that shall be disclosed on a need to know basis, and this is not a need to know basis solder, now sit down!" yelled Durant in an angered voice. "Now Gen. Durant, don't be so tough on this country's finest." Reprimanded Dr. Kincaid as he turned to Rainsford. "The disk contains information on a chemical that we were studying on the island. I am, in fact, the only one who escaped from the island alive when the test subjects escaped. These guinea pigs have been altered in such a way that has given them a blood lust for humans. I witnessed this first hand as I escaped. Now these creatures are quite fast, but you should not have any trouble if you're careful. Now, let us be on our way. The helicopters are waiting for us on the roof. They will drop you off on the main building of the facility. The disk is located in the lab on the second floor catwalk in the main computer. Be careful with it. If it is jolted too much, the data on it will erase itself. Once the disk is removed, you will have five minuets to get back to the helicopter before the facility's main power core goes into melt down. After the five minutes have passed, the entire island will be blown off the map. Let us begin." With that, the team's toughest mission ever began.
In the helicopter, Rainsford began to talk with members of his outfit, Jake Redfield, Andre Leone, Robert Grey, and Chris Carthage. "Chris, tell me, why did we agree to this?" Asked Rainsford as the copter flew over the Pacific Ocean. "We need $250,000 to pay off our loans and to buy back our freedom. And besides, it's easy money." "I wouldn't be so sure." "Come on, Eddy." laughed Robert, as he slapped him on the back. "Where is your adventurous spirit?" "I don't feel as sure about this as I did before. How about you Andre? Jake?" asked Edward in a worried tone. "I agree, but as Chris said, we could sure use the money. If a few of us die, at lest some of us will be able to live free once again. If we had only never made a deal with the government in the first place." said Andre in a carefree tone. "You two are a couple of worry some fools. We need this money and it sounds like it could be fun searching through one of Cloverleaf Industries' classified facility and finding a little dirt on the company and might even be able to black mail them." "Alright back there." Said the pilot, as the helicopter began a descent. "We are here. Good luck. Take the satellite phone. Call the number on it after you have retrieved the disk, we will then pick you up." "Thanks. That's real comforting, but can you get back in five minutes?" Asked Edward. "Just joking. We'll be waiting right here on the roof." "Good. Let's do this gentlemen." Said Edward as the helicopter landed. The others began to settle down as Rainsford's men exited from their helicopter. The total amount for each team was twenty counting both Dr. Kincaid and Gen. Durant. As everyone grabbed their gear, Dr. Kincaid turned to address the men. "It is now the moment of truth. Alpha Team, you are to head to the stairwell and secure it for the rest of the squad. We shall serve as cover fire for Alpha Team. Let's move. We're burning daylight." With the given orders, Alpha Team made it's way to the stairwell door. Just as they opened the door, two large creatures with razor sharp claws and teeth met them. Their skin was only in small patches, showing that the creatures were once humans, and the brain was showing. Rifle fire filled the air and seemed only to slow the creatures down. One of the men from Alpha Team was impaled by one of the two creatures claws. Then, the other by means of decapitation brought another down. The cover fire did hardly any good. Cries to reenter the helicopters were heard by many and that was enough for most of the squad to go back to the copters. As Dr. Kincaid yelled to not take off, the helicopters left him, Gen. Durant, Edward Rainsford, Jake Redfield, Andre Leone, Robert Grey, and Chris Carthage. "We have got to get off this island!" cried Dr. Kincaid, as he grabbed Gen. Durant by the shirt collar. "Men, use you Tesla Rifles!" Yelled Edward to his troops, as he grabbed his rifle and began to give shock therapy to the assaulting creatures. His men did the same, and in no time, the creatures were neutralized. "What were you people trying to accomplish on this island? It looks like something from a really bad horror movie! We want some answers and we want them now, Kincaid!" said Jake, as he slammed the stairwell door shut. "We were developing a new chemical for Cloverleaf Industries. As our human studies went onward, we found that it had high negative effects. So, we tried to shut it down, but failed miserably. The subjects broke down their cages and began killing off scientists. I tried to save some, but…" said Dr. Kincaid, as he began to drift off. "It's okay. We saw those things as well. No one man could have stood up to those things. But, why did you not tell us this before?" asked Edward. "I always thought that the squad would not even dare to try this mission for not even a million dollars apiece." "Your right. The team wouldn't have," replied Jake "Well, how do we get out of here?" asked Gen. Durant. "I have a satellite phone that my pilot gave me on the helicopter. We could use it to phone the helicopter to pick us up," said Edward. "They wouldn't turn around. They would run out of fuel before reaching us." said Chris. "There is a radio in the facility. We could radio to a nearby military facility to send aid," said Dr. Kincaid. "There isn't a military facility anywhere near this region of the world, and the only signal the radio can pick up is that of my men in Moscow…of course! We could radio to my men and ask them to send one of the helicopters from Cloverleaf Industries to rescue us!" said Gen. Durant. "Then let's go!" exclaimed Jake. "How are we on the charge of the Tesla Rifles?" asked Edward to the group. "I have half charge," said Andre. "I have about a third of a charge," said Chris. "About full." said Robert. "Full charge." said Jake. "I have half a charge," said Edward. "What about you and Gen. Durant." "I have a small pistol, and about six clips," said Gen. Durant. "I have a magnum, six bullets," said Dr. Kincaid. "Alright. I say we go down into the facility and look for this radio and send word to Cloverleaf Industries' troops to send a helicopter after us. We shall also retrieve this disk for you. Are there any questions?" asked Edward, as he was met by the acknowledgment of silence. "Then let's do this."
As Edward led the way down the stairwell, the hisses of the creatures could be heard below them. All around them were signs of struggles with the creatures. Once on the main floor, the smell of death was strong. The power was still running strong and so was the lighting. The hallways where littered with the fleshless bones of the dead scientists, most of which were gathered around the emergency exit to the heli-pad in a failed attempt to escape "It is sad that so many had to die with the small hope that the electronic locks would open for them." Said Dr. Kincaid in a calmed voice. "Yes, but how did you manage to escape to helicopter pad?" asked Rainsford. "I ran as fast as I could to the panel. I must have accidentally shut off the system for the lock." "Right. Why didn't you try and open the door from the other side, where I can see a control panel to the lockdown system?" "I… I… oh, forget this!" yelled Dr. Kincaid, as he pulled out his magnum and aimed it at Rainsford. "I was ordered by the company to leave everyone behind and to recover the disk, but seeing that the subjects were far more dangerous than we expected, I had to come back with this team and find it personally. I am then to leave the team on this island to die. Now open that door at the end of the corridor and get the stupid disk!" "What is on that disk?" asked Jake, with his arms held up. "The chemical that did this to the test subjects formula is saved on that disk, as well as the data on all the other research done by my infamous predecessor, Dr. Duncan Travis, who was suddenly fired due to a lapse of good faith." "You mean that the man behind Global Technologies worked for Cloverleaf Industries for a time period?" asked Jake. "Yes. Now, fetch my disk." "Never. Even if we did find the disk for you, the facility would blow up before you and Gen. Durant could escape." said Rainsford. "Is that a fact?" laughed Dr. Kincaid, as he turned to the General, who was also laughing. "We will escape. It is you who are going to be left behind. You see my company has enough bad press without a bunch of idiots trying to blab about our facility here. We have a ship waiting for us in the harbor, which is not too far from here. Now go!" Suddenly, from behind Dr. Kincaid, a man with a shotgun came from behind him. "Drop it, Kincaid! You, Durant, put down you're your handgun!" said the man, with a menaced look in his eyes. "Who are you and how did you survive?" asked Rainsford. "I locked myself in the laboratory, with the blasted disk. Dr. Kincaid here left my associates behind and I so he could collect the $100,000 paycheck from Cloverleaf Industries. I stayed here and held myself away from the monsters out there. My name is Leonard Black. He is the monster that you should kill, sir. But, I suggest we get to the boat that these two gentlemen were to leave upon and leave them here to die!" said Black, as he headed towards the docking area. "No!" said Rainsford. "I say we take them back with us to the United States and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law and bring Cloverleaf Industries down as well." "Fine. But, we must hurry. There is a larger creature roaming around out there killing the other monsters. It has one eye and five arms, and is composed mostly of a slime substance." "Let's get out of here then." Just then, an alarm began to blaze around them. "The Self Destruct Sequence has been activated," said a computerized voice over the loudspeaker. "Repeat the Self Destruct Sequence has been activated. This sequence cannot be aborted. All personnel report to the docking area at once for emergency evacuation. " "Let us do as the nice computer says and run for it boys!" Yelled Jake, as he ran to the docking area. Just as the team reached the docking area with Durant and Kincaid, they were met by two of the creatures that attacked them to begin with. "Fire men!" yelled Rainsford, as he picked up his Tesla Rifle and began to fire at one of the creatures and turned it into smoking flesh. "Alright, get onto the boat, quickly!" yelled Black, as a loud roar came from behind them. "Move it!" "It's too late fools! It has arrived!" laughed Dr. Kincaid, as he ran for the ship with Gen. Durant. Before they reached the ship, the creature jumped out from a nearby tree and commenced its attack by killing Gen. Durant. "Fire men! Don't give up hope!" cried Rainsford, as he and his men began to fire the Tesla Rifles at the creature. Suddenly, the creature erupted and it's body parts went all over the surrounding area. "Go! Go before it's too late!" yelled Black, as he and Rainsford entered the ship. As the ship pulled away from the island, the facility began to destroy itself. Kincaid knocked into the ocean by the force of the blast. Later, a ship marked as “Cloverleaf Industries Biohazard Countermeasure Service” arrived and picked Kincaid out of the water. He was barely alive. He whispered two words; “Rainsford, Westover.” As Kincaid rested on the deck of the ship, a man that walked with a limp came up to him. His face was burned in several patches and one of his eyes was nearly pure white. “You have failed, Kincaid. Turn him over to the proper authorities when we reach the mainland.” ordered the man, as he kicked Kincaid in the side and limped away.

One month later…
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my clients, the board of directors of Cloverleaf Industries, is completely innocent in this scientific expedition and have no reason to be forced to alter it's coarse of studies due to a minor glitch in maintenance of the chemicals. The company is prepared to offer $500,000 to the men involved in the expedition to the facility in question and to the bereaved to not push this case any further. Thank you." Said the lawyer as he sat back down at his desk. "Has the jury reached a verdict?" asked the judge to the spokesperson. "Yes sir." "What say ye?" "In the matter of the United States vs. Cloverleaf Industries under charges of mass murder of employees due to chemical spill, we the jury find Cloverleaf Industries guilty…" As each verdict was read, the representative from Cloverleaf Industries began to slink slowly into his chair. As the last verdict was read, the judge turned solemnly to the defendant. "This court hereby sentences the Cloverleaf Industries Company to pay $500,000,000 to be divided equally to the families of the men and women involved in this incident. Has the defendant any thing to say on behalf of the company?" "Nothing, your Honor, can change what happened on that island, and nothing can bring the dead back to life. But my company has supplied this country with millions of dollars in weaponry and in communications technology. So if it pleases the court, I would like to ask for mercy from the court." "The court recognizes this plea, but holds with its sentence. This fine must be paid in less than fifteen weeks, or the court will order that Cloverleaf Industries facilities in this country’s borders and territories be shut down pending an investigation of each. This case is adjourned."
Over seas, at the main headquarters of Cloverleaf Industries, Dr. Frank Billows was in a meeting with Mr. Henry Gaunt, President of Cloverleaf Industries International and Head CEO of Cloverleaf Industries America. "You promised me that disk. Now I hear that it has been destroyed. I should have fired Dr. Kincaid but, since you did recommend him on this assignment, I want you to clean up this mess. I have been told that Mikhail Nicholas, one of our top mercenaries, has turned sides. I want you to get one of our teams to bring him in before he decides to tell what else we have been doing at some of our more top-secret facilities. After doing this, bail Dr. William Kincaid out of the United States Federal Prison for us. He may have some knowledge of what was on the disk. Good day to you." Said Mr. Gaunt, as he turned back to his excellent view of the ocean from his wall-to-wall window. "As you wish. What of this Edward Rainsford and his team, should I have them silenced?" "No, not yet. I have other plans for that man's hometown, which by the way is home to one of our esteemed chemical plants, is it not? Now we wouldn't want another chemical disaster to occur on American soil now would we? No, that would be tragic." laughed Mr. Gaunt, as he waved for Billows to leave. Once Billows left his office, Mr. Gaunt pressed a button on his intercom. "Lisa, get me the Westover Cloverleaf Industries Chemical Plant, USA on the line. Thank you. Yes, Bob? The time you thought would never come has, my friend. Get your best men out of there pronto. Yes, I want an accident to occur. No one outside of the company payroll is to know. Good. I'll send a fax to you for exactly when to start the project. I want all key researchers out of the area before our plans go into action. Good bye." As he disconnected the call, he mused a while on what to do next, and then he thought of it. "Lisa, get me the Westover Police Department. Hello? Police Chief Jack Napier? Yes, this is Mr. Gaunt. I have a proposition for you. How does $500,000 sound to you?"
The summer sun beat down with all it's might on the prison yard as the prisoners lined up to be counted by the warden and to receive a small lecture. As the warden came to William Kincaid, he sneered a small grin as he looked in his eyes and saw the utter fear in his eyes. "Well, well, well, we have ourselves an employee of Cloverleaf Industries. I guess you figure you should get some special treatment, being you so high up the executive ladder in the wonderful world of Corporate America? You will not receive such thing here, boy. No caviar, no champagne in the morning, just bread and water for you. I have had it up to my eyeballs with you business types, always thinking you're better than the working man." Said the warden, as he turned to go back to the role call. Just then, a hole came into the wall of the prison. At the head of the hole, stood an army, armed with assault rifles and grenades. As the soldiers surrounded the guards and the prisoners, a small smile came upon the lips of Kincaid. Then, from the mass of soldiers, out stepped Frank Billows. "Dr. Kincaid? We must hurry, Mr. Gaunt wishes to question you," said Billows, as Kincaid stepped forward very slowly and very proudly. "What is it that Mr. Gaunt wishes of me? I tried to obtain the disk, but I failed. It was not my fault. It was that man, Rainsford and his blasted teams fault." "All he wants from you is any research you might remember or anything at all that might put you back on his good side." "Well, as I have been imprisoned, I have thought of a plan for the ultimate bio-weapon. All I need is a guinea pig. Just one." "What about the formula for the virus? Can you remember it?" "If properly persuaded, I might just be able to. Okay, let's get out of here before the police arrive."
The next morning's news reports all had this top story. "Yesterday, an assault was made on one of America's top security prisons. Nearly all the guards and prisoners were shot to death by heavy machine guns. Only one prisoner has at this time been left unaccounted for, Dr. William Kincaid, the scientist that was responsible for the deaths of over one hundred employees of the multi-billion dollar international corporation, Cloverleaf Industries. When reached for comment, the CEO of Cloverleaf Industries America, Mr. Henry Gaunt, he had only stated that neither his company nor anyone working for the company had anything to do with the disappearance of Kincaid. Authorities have placed a $10,000 reward payable for information leading to the whereabouts of Kincaid…" All the while, in the small town of Westover, an announcement was made in the local paper. Medical supplies and vaccines for the terminally ill from all sorts of ailments were being given away free to everyone who came in to one of Cloverleaf Industries' many faculties. The only catch to the deal was to make sure not to use the medicine without one of Cloverleaf Industries' trained medical doctors looked over the customer and asked a few questions before receiving the supplies. In a matter of weeks, citizens were reporting murders to the police. The victims were report ably missing their heads. As the police began an investigation chief of police, Jake Napier, was making plans to move to warmer climates. When asked where he found the money to buy a ticket, he simply turned pale and yelled at the inquisitor. In his home, Edward Rainsford simply sat in wait for Cloverleaf Industries to make its move upon him and his team, but they already had.
"Do you think that I'm afraid to die?" Asked Mikhail Nicholas, as he lay strapped to the examination table, to the man who stood above him, none other than Mr. Gaunt. "I would rather die than ever return to your company!" "Oh you will work for me again, just not be paid. Your going to be my personal project for a mission I have planned." Said Gaunt, with an evil smile on his face. "What makes you think that I would do this mission for not one red cent? I will never willfully join you again!" "Exactly. Dr. Kincaid, please explain what you are about to do to our friend here." "As you wish." Said Kincaid, as he turned from a small table. In his hand was a large syringe. "I have developed a new chemical that will make the ultimate bio-weapon. The only drawback is that I haven't been able to test it. At least not until your misfortune of turning against us, Mikhail, for you make the perfect subject for this virus. You will lose all of your free will and all of your rational thought. You will only wish to serve Mr. Gaunt and myself. Now, shall we begin Mikhail?" "No…no…Ah!" cried Mikhail, as he lost consciousness. "How soon before it will take effect?" Asked Gaunt, as Mikhail's body began to shake rapidly. "It will take its full course in exactly one hour. The mutation will be over by then, and he will no longer be human. I wish to call him Sigma, after the virus." "Of course. Now, how will we be able to control him?" "The first man he sees is his master, at least, that is what should happen. He could just begin to attack us." "No matter. He won't be able to escape. Right?" "Not really, sir. The virus will make him almost invincible. It would take major firepower to even slow him down. And these walls of steel won't be able to hold him in. Nothing can contain this creature. Nothing will stop it until it completes its life cycle." "How long is that?" "Eight years. After that, the host body will be decaying at such a rate, that the motor functions will simply shut down. Eight years and that are all." "Fine, but he will kill Rainsford." "One way or another." "Excellent. Now, let's wait."
Back in Westover, the city has been placed under quarantine by the order of the governor. The people began to experience flu-like symptoms and went directly to the Cloverleaf Industries facility to ask for medical supplies. All the men gave them were placebos and wished them well. All the while, the people thought they were taking a vaccine. Locked in his office, Chief Napier just wept as the days turned to weeks and as his men were outside falling victim to the unknown killer that appeared after the medical supplies were given out. "It's all my fault. I killed us all. I curse my life." was all the officers heard him say, as they passed the door to his office. By his order, the police station was to be in lock down and have steel shutters placed on all windows and the doors leading to the rooftop were to be locked and to have at least two men watching at all times. Though his orders were strange at most, the officers dared not oppose their superior. In their home, a family by the name of Reynolds sat by their son, who lay in a cold sweat on his bed. The medication that the men from Cloverleaf Industries had given them seemed to be ineffective. Everyday, their son vomited up a black substance with red spots. His eyes were swollen, and blood ran from his ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. His skin was peeling off in patches all over his body. One night, as his father sat by his side, holding his hand tightly, the boy began to go into a fit of violent shakes. Suddenly, the boy's skin peeled back from his face, revealing the virally mutated skull. The father screamed as his son's hands grew claws and fangs. As the father ran from the room, his son had completely mutated and was hungry. The creature tackled his father from behind and began to chew on his father's back. As he lied dying, the mother ran to see what had happened. When she saw the mass of body parts in the floor, she screamed and turned towards the front door. As she opened the front door, she felt something sharp penetrate her back. Her last sight was out of the window. She could have sworn she saw men and women running in terror. It was then that her neck snapped. In his one room apartment, Rainsford received word that his team members had came in contact with the disease and that it was only a matter of time. It was at that time that Rainsford decided to get his gun and attempt to leave the city. His only hope was to get to the police helicopters. Wishing to save as many citizens as possible, he asked everyone he knew if they didn't show symptoms of the virus. All said that they were too ill to leave. Before anyone knew it, monsters of Cloverleaf Industries overran the city. It was when it was too late that the Westover Police Department decided to intervene with a police blockade where the creatures were located. Even with fifty men armed with machine guns and shotguns, they were quickly overrun and all killed. Back in his office, Napier had opened another bottle of bourbon. As he slowly began to forget his sorrows, the city fell victim to a rampage. As all this was happening, a helicopter pasted over the city very slowly and dropped a large vessel. As it landed, the metal covering blew apart to reveal a tall figure draped in a large black overcoat. On his head, a pair of heat vision goggles and a metal facemask. His hands were large and deformed. A large, long claw replaced the middle finger on one of his hands. He stood about seven feet tall. As he landed feet first amidst the monsters in the city, he simply ripped their heads off as they approached him to attack. He simply muttered "Die." in a low coarse voice, almost metallic in a way. His foot steps where heavy as he headed towards the police station. As he ran for the station, Rainsford was met by hoards of the creatures, which he simply gave a quick gunshot to the head, which sent the head off of the body. Once at the gates of the police station, he heard a hoarse whisper behind him. "Die." As he turned to see what it was, he was lifted off of the ground and tossed through a steel shutter on the police station. When he regained his senses, he saw the man that had thrown him and began to fire rounds into the man's stomach and chest area, but it only made his body jerk. As Rainsford took aim for the man's head, he was yet again lifted off of the ground and tossed over the reception area. Once he got back to his feet, he began to run. As he turned his head to see where the man was behind him, he bumped into something large and masculine in front of him. When Rainsford looked into the man's face, saw his bright red eyes through the heat vision goggles. Quickly, Rainsford dodged the man's arm and began to run down the hallway towards the weapons storage room. Once inside, he picked up an assault rifle and went back to take the man head on. Once back outside, he began to fire randomly upon the man's body. All it seemed to do was make him more agitated, so Rainsford went back into the weapons storage and picked up a cache of grenades. Back in the hallway, the man had come to the door and commenced to rip it off of the hinges. Inside, Rainsford pulled the pin off of one of his grenades and threw it at the man. The grenade blew, sending the man towards the floor in a shower of flames. Seeing that it would be impossible for him to pass through the doorway, he turned to find another way out of the room. To his best luck, a ventilation shaft that led to the room on the other side was just in his reach. As he climbed up, he heard the man get back to his feet and give a gut-wrenching scream. "He can't still be alive! Even if he is one of the monster's from Cloverleaf Industries!" Thought Rainsford, as he climbed down and into the chief's office, "Who are you!" yelled the chief, as he picked up his shotgun and aimed it at Rainsford. "Easy Chief! I'm a human!" yelled Rainsford, as he raised his arms in the air. "Oh. Sorry. It's just that so much is happening to the town that I can't be too careful. What was that noise in the weapons storage?" "I just threw a grenade at this guy chasing me. I thought it would kill him, but it simply knocked him out for a while. Where are the helicopters?" "On the roof of course. I have the key right here. We can both get out of here. Let's go." said the chief as he got to his feet to leave his office. Just then, the wall caved in and the man stood there with a mighty roar. "Go! Take the key! I'll be okay!" yelled the chief, as he began to blast his shotgun into the man. As Rainsford reached the stairway to the roof, he heard the chief's final words. "God forgive me for what I have unleashed on this city!" Rainsford simply shook his head in sadness as he continues up the stairs towards the rooftop door way. Upon reaching the door, the man had caught up to him and was slowly making his way up the stairs. Rainsford quickly opened the lock and bolted though the door and ran for the helipad. As the man reached the roof, Rainsford had reached the helicopter and was taking off to the safety of the air. Once in the air, Rainsford looked over the side to see where the man was. He was simply standing on the helipad looking up at the helicopter and jumping at it. Rainsford simply took off towards the horizon, away from the danger below. He turned on the radio on the helicopter and began to radio to the military forces standing guard around the boarders of the city, but all he got was static. "No! The creatures have escaped from the city. In no time the United States will be over run by those things. Then the entire North American continent will fall to these horrors! I must get to a military base and get help!" Thought Rainsford, as he flew over a bridge below. On the bridge, he saw overturned cars and the creatures slowly walking towards the next town. It was then that he saw a tank coming from the other side of the bridge. It began to fire at the creatures with little success. The creatures simply dodged the oncoming shells from the tank. It wasn't until the bridge had been destroyed that the creatures stopped advancing. When he reached the military base, he saw everyone running around towards vehicles and going towards where he had just came from. As he landed, he went into the General's office. "General, you have got to believe me when I tell you…" said Rainsford as he ran into the office, but the General cut him off. "I'll believe anything you have got to say. I want answers though. Did you come from Westover?" "Yes, I did, they are coming! You have to get your men ready!" "I'm doing all I can. I want to know what in the world is happening." "You hear about that incident on an island of a Cloverleaf Industries laboratory? That is what's happening now!" "No, impossible! That happened on a small island, not anywhere near the mainland. How could that happen here?" "I don't know, but you must hurry and prepare your men to contain this." "Yes. What shall we do then?" "I say we set up tanks and fighter pilots to attack the creatures before they can reach any other cities. Then, get on the phone to Washington and ask for missile assistance, and that the missile be fired at Westover. Can you do that?" "Affirmative." Outside, the sounds of men screaming could be heard. When Rainsford and the general looked out of the window, they saw the man from the police station ripping the heads off of everyone who stood between him and the office. "How did he find me here?" cried Rainsford, as he made his way outside. "Wait! Take this rocket launcher, at least." "Thanks, but I doubt it will kill him, but it might buy us some time," said Rainsford, as he took the heavy rocket launcher and continued outside. "Die." whispered the man, as he grabbed another soldier and ripped his head off. "Tall, dark and ugly! Come and get me!" Yelled Rainsford, as he took aim at the man. "Die." said the man, as he recognized Rainsford and made his way towards him. Before he reached Rainsford, he was met by a rocket and lost his right arm. "Yes!" cried Rainsford, as the man cradled his limb and slowly fell to the ground. As this happened, the general called to Rainsford and told him that the White House had just ordered a nuclear missile to be fired in the area in exactly five minutes. "We have to get these men out of here, now!" "Yes, but how, there is no way that we could get out of here before the missile comes, unless me and you went alone." "General, you aren't thinking of deserting your men, are you?" "In the worst case scenario, yes. I am a coward at heart, but I do not wish to die at the hands of a nuclear missile." "At least give them all fair warning." "Fine. Private! Sound the evacuation alarm, and then, get as far away from this place as possible! Don't ask me any questions, just go!" yelled the general at one of his men, as he gave a quick salute and proceeded to sound the alarm. Just then, the man got to his feet and began to move toward Rainsford. "What is this guy made of?" asked Rainsford, as he pulled out another grenade and threw it at him. He might as well thrown a bottle than a grenade because it simply made the man madder than he was and made him go at Rainsford at a full gallop instead of a slow walk. "Run!" yelled Rainsford, as he turned towards his helicopter, which had been fueled by the staff at the helipad. Before he and the general reached the helicopter, the general fell to the ground and fell victim to having his face crushed by the feet of the man as he ran for Rainsford. As Rainsford entered the helicopter, he was caught by the shoulder by the man and hurled over the man's head towards the ground. When Rainsford looked up, he saw that the missile had come. It was too late for the men that were left at the out post, as the missile came closer and closer towards the earth. As Rainsford's eyes widened, the man began to bend down to lift Rainsford up a finish him off. Just then, the cloud came into view, and the entire facility was blown away by fire.

Five years later…
A helicopter began to make its approach to a small strip just on the outskirts of where Westover once stood. On the side of the helicopter was the symbol of Global Technologies. When the helicopter landed, Leonard Black stepped out from the cockpit. "Mr. Black, how do you feel today sir?" asked one of the attendants that came to meet him from the facility in front of him. "The usual, annoyed. What's the problem here?" said Black, in a tired and worn down voice. "Well, our men that have went inside the area ahead of us have not returned, nor have they given us any radio contact. We just wanted your opinion on what we should do to handle this situation." Said the attendant as they entered the facility. Inside, two men from Cloverleaf Industries stood in waiting, one of whom Mr. Black recognized as Dr. Kincaid. "Well, Mr. Black," said Dr. Kincaid, as he pointed a pistol at Black, "it is so nice to meet you again. You disappointed Mr. Gaunt. He had so much planned for you and your ability to turn anything you touch to gold. Oh, well. Life goes on." "What about my men? What has happened to them?" asked Black, as Kincaid's assistant, a mercenary hired by Mr. Gaunt for this occasion, frisked Black. "I have no idea. But that is of no consequence. Anyway you look at it, you will die today." said Kincaid, with a twisted smile on his face, as he aimed the pistol for Black's head. Suddenly, a roar was heard outside the window. "Impossible! How can he still be alive?" shouted Kincaid, as Sigma ran down the wall and began to attack the mercenary. "What is that thing!" cried Black, as Sigma ripped the mercenary in half. When he finished the mercenary, he turned to Kincaid and began to roar in a mighty voice. As Sigma approached Kincaid, the good began to empty rounds of his pistol into the head of the monster, as his arm reached for Kincaid's small head, and squeezed his brains out. "No! You'll never take me alive!" yelled Black, as he ran for his helicopter. Sigma simply walked slowly after him. When Black reached the helicopter, he found the pilot and co-pilot dead with their heads pushed through the glass. From behind, Black could hear Sigma's heavy steps coming close behind. He quickly pushed the pilots out of the way and began to start up the helicopter. Just then, Sigma reached through the door and pulled Black out of the cockpit and tossed him to the ground. "You will not win, no matter what the odds are." said Black under his breath, as he tackled Sigma's legs and sent him to the ground. As Sigma tried to regain his senses, Black was back in the helicopter and taking off for safer ground. "Is that all you got? Is that all you got?" Laughed Black, as the helicopter reached one hundred feet in the air. Once safe, he reached the radio and reported what had happened to the facility. "Cloverleaf Industries has really crossed the line this time!" yelled Duncan Travis, when Black finished his statement. "I will not allow this. I will make that reprobate for a human, Gaunt, pay for this! I have something that just might make him… die," said Travis, as he put down the radio receiver. He then turned to his telephone and dialed for his receptionist. "Hello, Claire? I want you to get the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Hello, Mr. Rainsford? This is Duncan Travis. You know that day that you thought would never come? It finally has. I want you to put together one of your best teams and have them investigate Cloverleaf Industries' newest project, which is highly dangerous and very much illegal. Yes, it does involve the government's Westover Clean-up and Removal Project. I have a good feeling that you will find that Cloverleaf Industries was behind that entire problem, all because of one man who stopped one of their facilities. A word to the wise, don't go on this search in person, you don't want to get involved personally in this case. You see your brother, Edward; he was killed in the blast of the missile that the government fired upon the city of Westover. Calm down Mr. Rainsford. This way, you can get back at that son of a snake Gaunt for starting this mess in the first place." Said Travis, as he reached for a glass and poured him a drink of water. As he drank a sip from the glass, he began to talk to Rainsford again. "Now, listen to me Rainsford. Upon completion of this little chore, you will receive the usual $500,000 in your paycheck. You have my deepest sympathies. Sorry Jack about Edward." Finished Travis, as he slowly hung up the receiver. Across the ocean, at the main branch of Cloverleaf Industries, Mr. Gaunt was preparing for a meeting with the Chairman of Cloverleaf Industries International, Mr. Thomas Tanner, who was very unhappy with the press his company was getting. "I am very disappointed from what I am hearing about Cloverleaf Industries America. All of our facilities have been shut down due to a court order, a court order that has set the company back more than half a billion dollars in fines alone. Not to mention the loss of major facilities in the United States and all of our island projects had to be canceled due to lack of funds. What do you have to say about this?" yelled Mr. Tanner, as he banged his desk multiple times with his fists. "It was all due to that reprobate Kincaid. He failed to retrieve the disk from our facility on Isla Forna that forced us to ask the United States to give us a few soldiers for a reasonable price. Then, that egghead failed to recover the disk before the facility went to pieces. But, really, most of the blame can be put on Edward Rainsford, one of the soldiers who survived the island incident, but I personally had him taken care of with the help of Dr. Kincaid and Mikhail, one of our former mercenaries who turned coat on us. I had him turned into a super soldier that Dr. Kincaid dubbed 'Sigma' after the chemical that which turned him into the creature he is today. He took Carte of Rainsford, but the United States Government took care of him, with that blasted missile." explained Gaunt, as he paced around the office floor. "Where is Dr. Kincaid now, Mr. Gaunt?" asked Tanner, as he leaned against the rim of his desk. "He is at the Global Technologies facility near where Westover once stood. He is going to take care of one last problem pill for the company. A man by the name of Leonard Black." "Black! That traitor! He sold most of our newer products to that low brow Duncan Travis! Well, Mr. Gaunt, it seems that you have made up for your mistake." "Thank you sir. Now about my bonus…" began Gaunt, just as the office doors were broken down and Sigma stepped through. Gaunt turned pale and began to tremble towards the floor. Mr. Tanner simply reached in his desk and pulled out a magnum and began to fire at Sigma. All the gun seemed to do was make Sigma's shoulders jerk. Mr. Tanner pressed a button for security and was quickly answered by heavily armed guards rushing in and began to fire at Sigma with semi-automatic machine guns. The gunfire seemed to slow down Sigma, but it failed to kill him. Sigma tossed the guards over his head and continued on towards Mr. Tanner and Mr. Gaunt. "What can we do to stop this thing?" asked Tanner, as he frantically tried to activate his escape panel at his desktop computer. "We can't, sir. This is Sigma." whispered Gaunt, as he slumped slowly into the floor and stared blankly into space as Sigma reached down with his large hand and took a grip of his head…
When the FBI arrived to arrest Mr. Gaunt, they found the lobby in a bloody shambles. Men and women's body parts where thrown about as if they were parts of a long forgotten toy. Inside the main office of Mr. Tanner, the bodies of seven security guards were found slain and the body of Mr. Gaunt, with his head decapitated and placed on the desk of Mr. Tanner. Tanner's body was nowhere to be seen until the men looked up and to their dismay and disgust, Tanner's body was caught in the ceiling fan, twisted into an almost pretzel shape. There was a large hole in the wall where something had simply walked through. The floor was damp from seawater and wet footprints of a tall, heavy man could be seen going out of the opening. Outside, signs of the man walking through the surrounding wooded area could be seen. The evidence led to a large crater in which the man had apparently fallen into an underground volcano that opened up while he was walking through the woods. The body must have incinerated upon touching the magma. In the days to come, Cloverleaf Industries went bankrupt due to payment of court settlements. Dr. Kincaid's and a dozen workers for Global Technologies bodies were found at the facility where Westover once stood. The cause of death was determined by the evidence that each and every one of the victims bodies were matched with the same type of aggression of the suspect involved in the murders of the people of the office of Thomas Tanner. The case was closed and the bureau made no further investigation. Mr. Rainsford of the FBI received his payment from Mr. Travis for his service. Global Technologies became the richest company in the world after Cloverleaf Industries went out of business.
Part Two: The Government Incident
It's been three years since Cloverleaf Industries ruled the market. It's been three years since Dr. Kincaid and Mr. Gaunt made the mistake in creating Sigma, the ultimate bio-weapon. The military took over the investigation of Cloverleaf Industries after the FBI ruled that the company had caused the incident in Westover and caused the deaths of over one hundred thousand innocent civilians and military personnel. Upon searching one of Cloverleaf Industries' bio-chemical facilities on an island west of the United States, they found cells where strange, human-like creatures roamed, roaring every so often for food. In the larger cells, multiple creatures where gathered to fight each other. Bodies of the creatures could be seen in each of these rooms where the men on hand where forced to kill each and everyone when the creatures supposedly attempted to escaped. Documents where found that Cloverleaf Industries had bought the nearby city and talked them into taking the chemicals they were developing for bio-weaponry. One of the most disturbing things found by the search team was the disposal plant nearby. Hundreds upon thousands of normal human bodies where found in the incinerators in which they were led into the chamber and burned alive where found all over the facility. The bodies of dead creatures where tossed into a vat of chemicals that was supposedly meant to dissolve the chemical compound in the cells of the creatures, but all it did was revitalize the creatures cellular functions. The military then decided to cover up all findings on the island and place all those involved in the search party under a gag order. Former employees of Cloverleaf Industries were then called by military facilities all across the country for job interviews. All of which involved the creation of bio-chemical weaponry. All the participants with experience in the field of chemical science were happy to take the job offered and were immediately taken to a facility in Wichita, Kansas. Upon arriving at the facility, the military ordered the new recruits to remake the chemicals they had made for Cloverleaf Industries or they would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and would be found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. Reluctantly, the men and women agreed and promised not to tell a soul that they worked for the facility. As the months went on, the facility began to turn out more and more toxic chemicals. The military gave the workers homes close to the facility right inside the gates and all the other needs necessary for a happy home, except the ability to wander outside of the gates. The pride and joy of the military's new chemicals was the progress made with the virus called Sigma. They had found a way to keep the cells of the subject of the Sigma Virus to regenerate upon injury of any body part. Wishing to receive more results, the military began to take out ads in national newspapers asking for test subjects to test the virus for a fee of $20,000 per day that they were under the effect of the virus. It wasn't long after placing the ad that responses came. Though only seven men and women answered the ad, only five were picked because the military refused to test the virus on women just yet. The women were paid $1,000 to keep their mouths shut about what they had heard or seen around the facility. It was about six days after that that people in the small neighborhood around the facility began to disappear. Mostly, it was small children that turned missing. Of the twenty missing persons, only five where adults. It was then that the people began to try and enter the facility. It was then that an accident occurred. It was revealed to the people as they tore down one of the main gates that they heard the alarm. Thinking it was merely a warning that the gate had been torn down, they continued on to the building ahead. Inside, bodies were found lying on the floor, eyes glazed over with a white film. As they continued down the hall, they found the chemical chamber. Inside the chamber's window, they could see broken bottles and a liquid splashed on the floor. Also in the chamber, they saw almost decaying bodies inside. Some of the men turned back after seeing this, but on the most part, the men continued on inside the facility towards a large metal door with a valve for a handle. A small window was above the door and the lights in the room were bright red. One of the men took a look inside and saw tall creatures with black overcoats on. One of the creatures from what he could see had a large claw on his middle finger. In the corner, one of the creatures was bent over a small child, slowly eating it. This caused the man to turn away and put his hand over his mouth in horror. Then, the rest of the men in the hallway saw one of the creatures in the room look out of the window. The creature had burning red eyes, no noticeable nose, razor sharp teeth, no ears, and a number imprinted on its forehead. The number was "2-507-6-NTC". As the creature's eyes look around at the men in the hallway, it began to try and break the door down. Upon seeing this, the men in the hall began to run towards the exit. One man stood in utter shock, as the creature broke down the door and tore off his head. On the other side of the country, in the White House, the President received some disturbing news. The test subjects had dismantled the top-secret facility and the virus had escaped from the containment area. The President then decided to put the entire city of Wichita under military blockade. The National Guard was then told to go block the entire area off with tanks and over five thousand men connected with radio communicators. It wasn't long before one of the creatures came to one of the blockade points. The army simply fired their rifles and the tank fired a shell directly at the creature blowing it to a million pieces. Another blockade encountered the same incident. It was one hour after the first encounter that one of the larger creatures in the black trench coat came slowly clumping towards the blockade. The army began firing again. This time, it wasn't as effective as the first. The tank cannon simply knocked the creature to the ground. Soon, more of the same creatures came forward to begin attacking the blockade. It was then that the military ordered the retreat for all personnel in the blockades. Back in Washington, the President ordered the firing of the atomic bomb once again to be fired upon American soil. He did not want the creatures to spread to other parts of the country. His advisors tried their best to try and contain the creatures without forcing the country to go through another atomic blast. He was too obstinate to listen, and carried out the plan. Two weeks later, wearing protective gear, the military began to comb the area searching for anything that might have survived the blast and eliminate it. The search team only found the remains of six creatures, with one of the creatures standing, but its head missing from the corpse. The search team then determined that all the creatures had been destroyed. It was at this time, over the ocean, a man's deformed hand reached from a hole in the ground leading to an underground pit of magma. His head came to the ground as he pulled himself back to earth; his head was missing about half of his cranium and all of his mouth. His back revealed his spinal cord. On his arms you could see the radius and phalanges exposed through the burnt flesh. One of his eyes was missing and the other was burning red. One of his arms had a spade shaped claw, while the other had most of it's fingers missing, the legs where nothing but muscles and bones held together by strings of flesh on the creature. As he got to his feet, he began to walk slowly towards the ocean, slowly muttering empty words as he walked into the water, heading towards the United States.

Darkness came slowly to the White House, as the President made his bed ready for sleep. Outside, the night was filled with the soft sounds of a world going to sleep. Inside, the lights began to dim so as not to awaken him. Then, at the front door, a mighty roar was heard. The Secret Service agents went to investigate. When they reached the door, the door being broken off of the hinges met them. The agents began to scream when the door fell to the ground and the man was standing tall, missing more of his flesh than before from fish eating it. As the President sat up in bed, he heard the agents fire three shots and no more, so he went back to sleep. Then, the man broke down his door. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" asked the President, as he reached to turn on a light. When he turned on the light, he began to scream, and that was all that came from the Whit House that whole night. The next morning, the national news began to report that a grisly murder occurred during the President's sleep. A terrorist had broken into the White House and taken out two special agents and killed the President himself. The entire country was appalled by this tragic incident and terrified that someone would do such a thing after many horrible incidents that had occurred on America's very soil. It wasn't one month after the President was assassinated, that a series of grisly murders began to occur in a small town in Virginia's heartland. The local police were so baffled, that they called in the FBI to aid in the case. All the victims were killed during the night in their beds. That was the only thing the murders had in common. Sometimes the door was broken in, something the window, the fiend used even the garage once. The victims were all found killed in different ways. One man's head was decapitated, another had a large chunk of the head missing, but on the most part, the victims were found with their stomachs torn open. One night, in the home of a man named, Blake Nelson. It was about three o'clock in the morning, when Blake was awakened by the sound of the window in the living room breaking open. He quickly dialed the special hotline that the police had set up for information on the murders. He quickly told the operator on the phone where he lived and said to send the police immediately. He then hung up the phone and went for his double barrel shotgun in the closet. When he turned around, a tall figure stood in the door way in his room. Blake then aimed the shotgun at the man. "Freeze! This is a double barrel shotgun loaded with buckshot! Take one more step and I'll blow your head off!" he yelled, as the man simply stood there and twisted his head in confusion and stepped towards him. With that, he unloaded both rounds into the head of the man. The man's head shattered into a thousand pieces. As the man's body began to collapse into the floor, Blake heard sirens sound outside. Blake simply slid to the floor and rested his head next to the barrel of the shotgun, as he heard the police enter his house. As the police sent for a paramedic ambulance, they asked Blake what happened. Blake calmly answered the questioned. By the time the police took his statement, the paramedics had arrived with a body bag to pick up the body of the man. When they tried to lift the man into the bag, the body's arms pushed them down. When the police turned to see what was going on, the body had stood back up and blood began to gush from where the man's head once was. Suddenly, a new head appeared, the man's jaw gave an evil smile, as his entire jaw was revealed due to the fact that his face had hardly any flesh on it. As the police began to draw their pistols and fire, Blake began to franticly reload his shotgun. The man simply walked slowly and reached with a putrid hand to the first officer and crushed his head in. He did this until he reached Blake. Blake simply stood there in terror as he stared into the burning red eyes of the man, and the man returned the same blank stare. The man simply shocks his head and turned to leave. Blake fell to the floor in closed his eyes and went into a deep sleep. His hair had turned pure white from fright. An hour had passed when a second group of officers arrived at the scene. They were appalled by what they found, and quickly called for a search team to search the neighborhood for the suspect. They found Blake in the corner in his room muttering incomprehensible words and phrases. All they understood was "Global Technologies 's next…world doomed…my fault." The police had no idea what he meant, but they did try to get him to take to him. One of the officers said that he was unreachable in his present state. Another said to call for more paramedics to pick up the dead bodies and to take Mr. Nelson to the hospital to be given a professional look over. The police never found the killer of the officers or of the residents of the town. In the weeks to come, the murders stopped. No one ever heard anything about the killer again in Virginia. Blake was found to be insane and was taken to a mental institution in Virginia. In Wichita, the ashes began to shuffle around where dead bodies were annihilated. Then, as a phoenix rises from its ashes in a new body, the bodies of the creatures' from the government facility began to rise from the ground. Once all of the creatures had risen, they turned in unison to the west towards a hill in which Sigma was standing, arms raised in a symbol of power, as if he himself was calling them to stand. With a mighty voice, Sigma then roared as if calling them to march, because, with that, the creatures all began to march westward to the headquarters of Global Technologies.
Part Three: Shifts in Time
"Is it perfected yet, Black?" called Travis to Leonard Black, who was at an enormous control panel for a large portal. "Not yet, but it should work this one time. After completing the primary task, we can then try to perfect it. Until then, gather your men and prepare them for deployment." replied Black, who then turned back to the controls "Alright gentlemen, your mission is simple. Once you enter the portal, you are to stop Dr. Kincaid from ever beginning his project on Isla Forna. Are you ready, Mr. Rainsford?" Said Travis, as he turned to the man at his right, a tall figure wearing glasses. "Yes. Are you sure it will work?" He asked, as he glanced down at his agents below at his men as well as Travis'. "You know that the government has went down the hole ever since the President was killed. The Senate has only asked me to do this because they have no other choice. All the Supreme Court and the House of Representatives want is your company shut down permanently all over the world. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the companies like yours as well, but I am willing to go along with this because it could bring back Edward." "I know, Jack. Don't worry, it will. Just as long as we stop Kincaid from going to that island to exploit it in the first place, we will bring back your brother." said Travis, as he then turned back to Black, who had just entered an entry code into the system. "Are we ready?" "Yes, but you will only have three hours to stop Kincaid. Use any means necessary. I don't think the Chronos-Gate will be able to function for long through. It can only work twice, so don't screw up. Once the three hours are up, you will be immediately shifted back here. But, you all must be in the same place to shift back here. It is matter displacement really." Said Black, as he began to mutter to himself. "Just start up the Gate!" Yelled Rainsford, as a loud banging was heard from the large chamber door. As the men turned to see what was going on, the door was broken down. At the entrance stood the menacing figure of Sigma. As the Gate began to activate, Sigma slowly walked towards his prey. "Quickly, go into the Gate! I'll be all right. If your successful, Sigma will never be thought of!" yelled Black, as Sigma began a full gallop towards the platoon. Just as he reached his first victim, the entire room was engulfed in a bright white light. Outside, seven more Sigma-like creatures gathered around the facility. As they began to attempt to enter the facility, it suddenly disappeared in an electronic flash of light. When the light disappeared, the creatures simply stood in confusion around the foundation of the facility. When the facility reappeared, it was in a dense jungle. All around, the sounds of creatures howling in the surrounding area frightened the men tin the chamber, including Sigma. Inside the facility, the men and Sigma stood in confusion. The man most confused was Black himself, as he franticly typed on his control panel to see what had happened. It wasn't long before the rest of the men realized that Sigma was in the facility with them, and they were all lightly armed. As Sigma then realized where he was, it seemed that he slowly clucked to himself as he made his way to the closest man to him. It was then that the ground began to quake in such a manner that everyone in the chamber fell to the ground, including Sigma. Then, the gigantic head of the mighty Tyrannosaurs Rex burst through the concrete wall. The men below began to scramble around as the giant dinosaur broke through the wall and began to attack the men by lowering it's head and simply bite down on the unsuspecting men. Sigma then began to attack the T-Rex by ripping and tearing at the monster's massive leg. The Rex simply roared in an angered voice and struck Sigma down with its tail. As Sigma tried to regain his upward stance, the Tyrannosaur simply clamped his jaws around Sigma's body and began to try and stuff him down his mighty throat. Sigma simply held the Rex's mouth open with his arms until the tongue knocked him over towards the razor sharp, blood stained teeth of dinosaur. When the Tyrannosaur had finished Sigma, it roared once again in a royal fashion. It was then that the men below began to run for the exit. Outside, in the dense jungle, the sounds of life could be heard. But that wasn't on the minds of the men trying to escape. Behind them, they could hear the steps of the monster behind them, as they ran off aimlessly into the unknown, they all where separated from the other men in their groups. It wasn't long before most of the platoon noticed that they were lost and without their comrades. Menace began to fill their hearts, as they franticly began to run back to search for the team. Back in at the facility, the Tyrannosaur began to sag in it's pace until it fell to the ground. It's breathing began to speed up, as it lie there in the open. Patches of the Rex's skin began to crust off, as it roared in pain. The T-Rex's eyes slowly began to darken, as the blood filled the retina of the eye. Slowly, the mighty Rex began to lose consciousness. Inside the bloodstream of the Rex, the virus began to flow and do it's work… "Where is the rest of the team?" asked Travis, as he turned behind him and saw only a few members of the team. "How many did we have?" asked Black, as he also turned around to see that if he was right. "Twenty-five men and three from Mr. Rainsford's agency." answered Travis nervously, as he remembered that they all needed to be in the same place to return to their own time. "What happened that sent us this far back?" asked Rainsford, as he turned to Black, in an angered tone. "I don't really know. It could have been the fact that I hadn't properly tested the Chronos-Gate before we embarked on our journey. Or it could have been something else in the computer's circuitry. What ever happened, I know we will probably not make it back to our own time." "Why not? We have almost two hours to find the rest of the team!" Exclaimed Travis, as the sweat poured down the side of his face. "We must have the exact same number of men who went into the gate for it to actually work to be standing in the gate. And by my count, we had twenty-nine men pass through." "No we didn't, it was twenty-eight; you, Rainsford, his men, my men, and me" said Travis in an angered tone. "No, twenty-nine passed through. That monster came with us, remember?" said Black in frightened tone, as he turned his face from his comrades. "My god." whispered Rainsford, as he covered his mouth with his handkerchief. As they stood in dismay, the rest of the team finally found them. As they gathered around to listen to Black, most of the men broke down crying. Others simply stood there, with a dumbfounded look in their eyes. Suddenly, a mighty roar was heard through out the surrounding jungle, as if some monster had been awakened from its sleep. Upon hearing the roar, the team began to one as one towards the deepest part of the jungle. After running for about an hour, they came upon a large concrete wall. At one point of the wall, a wire fence stood for an entrance. When the men looked inside the wire gate, they saw a couple of large buildings and a large sign that read the following: BIO-CHEMICAL DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY AND TIME TRAVEL RESEARCH FACILITY. Upon reading the sign, the men broke down the gate and entered the facility walls. Inside, they noticed homes and other modern necessities for humans. They also found military vehicles and a large generator outside one of the buildings surrounded by a large barded wire fence. The largest facility had a sign outside of it that read the following: CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT FOR BIO-CHEMICAL WEAPONRY NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ALLOWED BEYOND THIS POINT VIOLATORS WILL BE EXECUTED UPON SIGHT "Cloverleaf Industries really did go to extreme measures to make sure that no one would find out what they were really doing." said Rainsford, as he marveled at the massive building before him. "It's a wonder we aren't surrounded by bio-chemically engineered monsters by now is beyond my comprehension." "Don't even think that!" yelled Travis and Black simultaneously, in frightened tones. "I had enough of those things when I met that blasted monster for the first time outside of the ruins of Westover!" cried Black to Rainsford in a maddened tone. "It was that this companies fault that your brother died! You of all people should appreciate the magnitude of this!" Just then, the roar of the monster was once again heard. "Could that be the T-Rex?" asked Travis, as he turned to Black. "No, it sounds deformed, like that creature that came back in time with us, but that's impossible, he was eaten by the T-Rex." answered Black in an almost puzzled tone. "Anyway you look at it, we are going to need a way to defend our selves from that creature, whatever it be. Can anyone of you drive a tank?" asked Black to the twenty members of the team. One of them shied his hand up slowly. "Good, take your station. The rest of you, arm yourselves with those rocket and grenade launchers in the back of that jeep there. We will not go quietly into the night. We will survive," said Black, as they ran to fulfill their assigned duties. "As they do that, Mr. Travis, Mr. Rainsford, I want you two to come with me to the time travel facility over there and see if we can get out of here and put this all behind us forever." said Black, as they hurried to the facility next to the Biochemical facility. As they entered the facility, a large, dinosaur like creature broke through the wall and began to attack. The creature skin was decayed in patches. Its small claws had deformed into oversized talons. The tail had become a third leg almost, with spines covering it. The belly of the creature had two eyes and a mouth. The mouth seemed to try and speak every so often. On it's back, a third eye had grown in and surveyed the surrounding area all around it. The worst part of the creature was the head. The head was simply a skull held together by sinews of muscle. The eyeholes instead of housing eyes housed two tentacles. As the men below franticly fired upon the creature with barrages of rocket and grenade fire, the tank slowly rolled into firing range. The impacts from the artillery seemed to make the creature's body catch into flames. When the tank came into range, it fired two rounds into the creature's stomach area, sending it to pieces. As the body parts of the creature fell to the ground, the men below began to celebrate. But their celebration was far too early, because as the monster's body fell to the ground, Sigma's body landed feet first to the ground. Sigma was now slightly taller and covered with seven tentacles that randomly moved around searching for something to bring to the host. Sigma's head had fused together with the left shoulder blade and came together in a freakish way to form a monstrous head. Inside the time travel facility, Black had started up Cloverleaf Industries' time travel mechanism to take the team back to their original time. Just as they had begun the final countdown, Sigma broke through the wall and began to take down some of the machines around him. As he destroyed the machines, an alarm began to sound all around them and outside as well. "Major damage to the Time Travel Facility has forced the system into the Fail Safe Program. All Defensive Mechanisms will be temporary turned on to attempt to stop the destruction. All personnel report to the front lawn immediately to avoid Basilicas Terminate Program." Said the computerized voice over the loud speaker, as a countdown began to blare starting at two minutes. "We have to get out of here!" yelled Black, as rubble began to fall down from the ceiling from where Sigma had attacked the machines.

"Let's see if we can't stop Sigma once and for all!" answered Rainsford, as he ran for the emergency exit that led to the military weaponry storage facility. As he, Travis, and Black ran for the facility, Sigma began to chase them towards the exit as well. Upon entering the military facility, Black quickly turned and slammed the button to bring down the titanium steel door and block Sigma's entry to buy them some time to work. At first glance, the room seemed to be filled with a large generator. When they reached the other side of the generator, they found that the corner of the room was filled with an enormous rail cannon. "Let's see if we can get the rail cannon started up to battle Sigma," said Travis, as he rushed to the controls. When he started the program, he saw that the rail cannon was not built by Cloverleaf Industries, but by the United States military for counter strikes on terrorism and loaned to Cloverleaf Industries for testing. "I remember reading that something like this was loaned to Cloverleaf Industries, but I never imagined it was this," said Rainsford, as another computerized voice came over the intercom. "Checking system…" as the computer said this, three lights came on in the rail cannon. "Checking battery…Warning, there is not enough power to activate the system. Please manually attach the three batteries to begin the quick charge program." "Rainsford, go to that control panel over there, Black go to that one close to the main entrance, I'll activate the primary battery here after you two start up the others." said Travis, as he franticly began to type into the computer. As Rainsford started up his section, he gave Black and Travis thumbs up. Just then, the titanium door collapsed and Sigma entered the room. "Die." He whispered in a gargle, as he slugged towards Black, who was franticly typing into his keyboard and finally gave Travis his thumbs up as he ran behind the cannon with Rainsford. As Travis typed in the last keystroke, he yelled at Sigma and told him he's see him in the afterlife as he pressed the 'enter' key and the rail cannon began to rumble. "Batteries connected. Executing Quick-Charge Program. Preparing to…fire," said the computer, as sparks of electricity began to fly from the rail cannon. Sigma slowly began to walk towards the three men standing behind the rail cannon. As Sigma came within ten feet of Travis, Black, and Rainsford, the computer began to count down from five. As Sigma reached out with his rancid limbs towards the men, the rail cannon fired its first shot. It sent Sigma clear across the room, separating his torso from his legs. He still was not dead. "I don't believe it! Cried Rainsford, as Sigma began to slowly crawl back to where Travis stood. The computer yet again began another five-second countdown. Sigma began to try and reach his feet as the cannon fired it's second round, completely eradicating Sigma, leaving nothing behind but a small pile of body parts. "System overheating. Going into Cool Down Mode," said the computer, as steam began to pour out of the computer. Just then, the main computer blared out a new message. "Defensive System overridden. Going into Self-Destruct Sequence. Sequence cannot be aborted. All personnel evacuate to the Time Travel Facility for immediate evacuation by selected staff." after the computer finished its speech; the lights in the room went from normal to bright red. "Let's go!" yelled Black, as he, Travis, and Rainsford ran for the Time Travel Facility. Just as they entered the room, the vortex had begun and was beginning to brighten. As they stared into it, they could see an office inside Travis' main headquarters for Global Technologies. "It looks like my office," said Travis, as he marveled at the vortex. "Come on Travis! Jump through!" yelled Black, as he jumped into the vortex and came upon the background of the office and began to franticly wave for Travis and Rainsford to join him. As Rainsford jumped through, he heard the final countdown for self-destruct. When he reached the office, he turned around and saw Travis. As Travis began to jump through the vortex and reach them, he saw fire come from behind him. When Travis turned around in his office, he was knocked over by flames, and the vortex then disappeared. "Is it over?" he asked, as he looked at Rainsford and Black, who both shared the same look. "No, it's not over. I still haven't stopped it from happening." said Rainsford, as he turned to the window behind. The city below was bustling with commuters making their ways to and from meetings, to and from home, and all other sorts of arrangements. "If only I had some time to properly test the Chronos-Gate, we would have stopped this all," said Black, as he paced the room. He then turned to Travis and asked him what day it was. When he went to his small calendar at his desk, he saw it was five weeks before Cloverleaf Industries was to even think about building a facility on Isla Forna. "That means I still work for Cloverleaf Industries!" laughed Black, as he began to jump in a small jig. He then turned to Rainsford and smiled at him. "Your brother's still alive, too! We can still stop this! We can still make a difference!" "Then why are we just standing here and talking about it! I want to get to Washington at once and send a team in and take out Cloverleaf Industries right now. We have the proof," said Rainsford, as he began to pick up the phone. "No! We can't prove anything. What we know that has happened hasn't happened yet. We'll have to get them another way," said Black, as he began to pace yet again. "I know! I can go to the branch that I worked at before they transferred me to the island and ask around and see if there are any other secret facilities that the United States doesn't know about." "Alright." said Travis, as he sat slowly at his desk. "But, what about our past selves? What is we met them?" "They are not here. You see, Cloverleaf Industries' Time Portal that we accessed on there facility in the jungle had a mechanism that I set that we would not have to worry about meeting them at all. I simply exchanged them in a temporal disorientation area." said Black. Seeing that no one really understood what he had said, he put in simpler terms. "I opened a time trap and placed our past selves in it until we reach the point in time that we actually went back in time." "Good. While you go back in to your job at Cloverleaf Industries, I'll send in a few spies to find any information that I can gather at Cloverleaf Industries' main branch in Europe," said Travis, as he picked up the receiver and began to talk to his receptionist and told her to gather his best industrial spies. All the while, in the office of Dr. Kincaid, he received a message that one of the time facilities had been lost due to incidents made in the future. "Blast it! That was our primary source of information on the new A-J003 virus! No matter. I'll simply send in a new team to rebuild it and make it better," mused Kincaid to himself, as he dialed for the main branch of Cloverleaf Industries. "Dr. Billows. It's William. Yes. I heard about the incident in the Bio-Chemical Development Facility, but we'll simply just have to rebuild it from scratch. I know it was the only place we could safely develop the virus without the government finding out. Okay. I will send in one of my best men, a man by the name of Leonard Black. I want to also personally see to it that things run smoothly, just in case one of my colleagues try and tell our little secret. Bye Dr. Billows." finished Kincaid; as he silently cursed under his breathe. "Okay. Let's go over the plan. I am to infiltrate Cloverleaf Industries' facility that they are transferring me to. As soon as I arrive, I will radio you and tell you what my coordinates are and what they are developing." said Black, as he packed his suit case and had his cell phone up to his ear. "Travis is to also send some of his spies in to check out anything they can find at the main office branch of Cloverleaf Industries. Remember, a cornered dog is when he is the most dangerous, Rainsford. You don't make a move unless you hear from me or from Travis. Good. Bye." finished Black, as he hung up the phone and closed the lid on his suitcase and made his way to the car waiting for him outside. Once he arrived at the facility, he was immediately ordered to the top-secret facility near the city of Denver. Once there, he was taken to an oversized chamber. At the end of the chamber was a strange cylinder. "Gentlemen." said the voice of Dr. Kincaid over the loud speaker. A strange tingle went up Black's spine as he heard his voice. "You all have been chosen for a special task. You are all to enter this Time Gate and to put our research facility back on line. We will of course send a special task force consisting of our best soldiers to protect you all from the primitive creatures awaiting you all at the facility. Once you have the facility back on line, send us a message over the high-powered radio in the Bio-Chemical Research Facility. Now, there may be some dead bodies at the site, so if your squeamish, sorry." said Kincaid, as he hung up the receiver. "Impossible!" thought Black, as he, and several other scientists were led into the Time Gate. As they walked along into the gate, a man turned around and looked him in the face. It was Edward Rainsford. "Hello. My name is…" he said as he extended his hand and was cut off by Black. "I know who you are. I worked with your brother once before, Jack Rainsford. He is a good man. What line of work are you in?" "I'm a mercenary by trade. I once worked for the United States military, but…well I don't want to talk about it." "Why did you come to Cloverleaf Industries? Why did you accept their contract?" "My team and I all have debts to the government. With the money that the company is going to pay us, we're going to buy back our freedom." Just then, a technician in front of the chamber began to type into a keypad to start the Time Gate. The lights in the facility then began to dim. The Time Gate then began to rumble. Sparks of electricity began to shoot out of the large generator behind it. A bright light then erupted from the gate, and a window in time was opened. "Gentlemen, please move into the Gate and begin your mission. All mercenaries and military staff are to report to the Weapons Testing Facility upon arrival. Good luck." Said Kincaid once again over the loud speaker, as Cloverleaf Industries officials began to hear the staff into the Time Gate like cattle. Just then, as the men began to enter the Time Gate, the portal began to ripple. Sparks of electricity began to shoot out of the large generator beside the machine to pop up. The staff surrounding the Time Gate began to run out of the chamber. In a burst of energy, something was erupted from the Time Gate. As the smoke began to clear, a kneeling body was seen. As the men gathered around it to get a closer look, the body began to move. Suddenly, a long tentacle reached out of the man's head and grabbed one of the near by gazers and ripped his head off. Seeing this, Black grabbed Edward's arm and began to run towards the main exit but a large mercenary stopped him. "Get out of here, quickly!" yelled the mercenary, as he began to open fire at Sigma. As Black ran out of the door, he turned around again to see the mercenary one last time. The mercenary was Mikhail Nicholas, the man who was to become Sigma. "This is just too weird," thought Black as he ran out of the building with Rainsford behind him. As they entered the parking area and got into Black's car, they heard a loud bang. Rainsford turned behind him and saw that the facility had began to explode. "Who are you, and why did you save me?" demanded Edward, as they drove down the road. "I told you, my name is Black. I used to work for Cloverleaf Industries, but I saw what they were doing to innocent men, women, and children. I then decided to turn coat and attempt to bring what they were doing to the press, but Cloverleaf Industries had paid off the papers, the police department, even the Better Business Bureau on the company's payroll. So, I went to Global Technologies to try and see if anyone there would help me bring Cloverleaf Industries down. Luckily, I did." said Black, as he drove down the street. Suddenly, from above, several helicopters could be heard hovering above. Edward look out of the side window of the car and read the side of one of the seven helicopters. It read: CLOVERLEAF INDUSTRIES BIOHAZARD COUNTERMEASURE SERVICE One of the helicopters landed on a nearby office building, the others flew towards the Cloverleaf Industries facility far behind Edward and Black's vehicle. "We have a problem," said Edward, as he stuck his head back into the car. He then turned on the radio in the car and heard a startling news report broadcasting from a Cloverleaf Industries news band. "Ladies and gentlemen in this listening area, Cloverleaf Industries has had a chemical spill and wishes that you remain in your homes. A member of the Bio-Hazard Countermeasure Service should be knocking on your doors within the next few hours. If you hear any strange noises outside your doors, be advised that several deranged men from the containment room of the Cloverleaf Industries Mental Health Facility have escaped and are running rampant in the streets. Don not try to reason with them; do not attempt to take them on alone. If you happen to see one, quickly enter a safe area as soon as possible." "Those liars. More of their blasted virus testing subjects have broken out and they're afraid that the virus that they are carrying will get out into the general public," said Black in an angered tone, as he turned the radio off. "What do you mean? What virus?" asked Rainsford, as he sat down in the chair set for him. "Cloverleaf Industries invented a virus that can mutate the human body into a flesh eating monster. These creatures have long claws, razor sharp teeth and have the ability to spread the virus to anyone that they come in contact with." Replied Black, as he shifted his car into fifth gear and sped down the street. Suddenly, another helicopter appeared in the sky. This one had several large metal containers on a lift under the cockpit. As Rainsford watched this new helicopter, he noticed writing on the side of the panel of the helicopter, but couldn't make it out. Just then, one of the cylinders fell from the helicopter behind them. Rainsford watched it fall with great anticipation. As the cylinder got closer to the ground, the metal casing broke away from the cylinder. Rainsford then saw that a large figure in a green trench coat fell to the ground about twenty miles behind them. "Can this thing go any faster?" asked Rainsford, as he watched behind them. "Any faster and I blow out the engine. I can take a short cut, though." said Black, as he made a quick turn and went into a nearby parking garage. As Black slalomed past the pillars in his way, Rainsford saw the man in green burst through the solid concrete wall behind them. The man then began to run after Black's car. The man in green moved very quickly, not even trying to doge the cement pillars in his way. He simple punched anything in his way down to the ground and just kept going. As Black and Rainsford's car made their way to the other end of the parking garage, the exit was blocked by a group of men in military fatigues armed with machine guns. The men immediately aimed their guns at Black's car. As they began to open fire, Black put the car into reverse and began to make his way out the other way. When he began to back up, he heard a heavy thump on the trunk of his car. The man in green had jumped on the trunk and was proceeding to climb onto the roof of the car. "Reach into the glove compartment." said Black, as he continued to drive in reverse, watching behind to make sure he didn't run into any pillars. Inside the glove compartment, Rainsford found a small handgun and three clips for it. He then aimed it at the roof of the car. Suddenly, a large, green hand broke through the roof of the car and began to choke Black. Rainsford emptied three rounds into the hand of the man and another four into the roof of the car, which was enough to send the man off of the car and onto the ground rolling. Rainsford then began to fire at the military men guarding the exit. He shot and killed three of the seven men and wounded two more. As Black and Rainsford left the garage, they could hear the screams of the military men being attacked by something. They also heard the sounds of machine gun fire, then more screams. As they drove down the road out of the city area, more helicopters could be heard overhead, all of which had Cloverleaf Industries insignia on the sides. When they were well out of the state of Colorado, Black stopped his car to use the pay phone at the side of the street. As Rainsford waited in the car, Black dialed the number for Jack Rainsford. "Jack, this is Black. I found your brother. Yes, I told him everything that he needs to know. I didn't tell him anything that happened to him in our future. We just escaped from Denver, Sigma jumped through the time gate that Cloverleaf Industries setup, killed everyone in the chamber. I don't know. I saw that Cloverleaf Industries' Biohazard Countermeasures Service was dispatched to protect the civilians supposedly, but they attacked your brother and me while we tried to escape this strange man in a green trench coat. I'll meet you in Westover, Virginia in about three days. We'll take the first flight out of …where ever in the world we are. I'll see you in Virginia." finished Black, as he hung up the phone and went back to the car and drove off. Above them, on the roof of a building, a man wearing a respirator and bright red goggles watched below with a listening device strapped to his ear. As he saw the car pull away, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a portable radio. "This is Bravo Unit One. Code number 789345-A34532-43234." said the man in a mechanical voice through the respirator. "I have spotted target. Target is heading to Westover, Virginia by plane. Send SSBCS to Westover's Cloverleaf Industries Waste Disposal Facility/Virus Containment Research Facility to receive full briefing." said the man into his radio. "Copy Bravo Unit One. Sending SSBCS to Westover Facility. Return to main laboratory to receive your payment." Said a man's voice over the radio. "No. I will see that this mission is completed personally," said the man, as he placed his radio into his vest again. "Wait! Bravo Unit One, do not go to Westover! Repeat, we can not promise that Westover is safe!" said the man over the radio, but the he was not listening any more.

Part Four: Death to the Chosen
"Jack, how are you doing!" laughed Edward when he saw his brother standing in the hotel room. At his side, Travis stood with a worried look on his face. "Edward, you don' t even realize how much I've missed you." cried Jack, as he hugged his brother hard across the neck. "Hey, man!" laughed Edward, as he shoved Jack away. "Your acting like you haven't seen me for years." "You wouldn't believe it even if I told you," replied Jack, as he looked at the floor. "Okay, now let's get down to business. Cloverleaf Industries is likely to send in a unit of mercenaries to search for us." said Travis, as he pulled out a file from his briefcase. "What is the plan?" asked Black, as he, Edward, and Jack Rainsford looked at the file that Travis handed them. "We are to call my office and tell them to send in one of my Special Tactics Service to come to Westover. Then, we have them set up a perimeter around the city. No one comes into Westover wearing Cloverleaf Industries insignia. You, Jack, are to call your office and ask for a team of agents to come to Westover to make a standard inspection of the Cloverleaf Industries facilities located in the five mile radius of Westover. We don't have much time, so let's move out," said Travis, as he picked up his cell phone and dialed the number for the Global Technologies office branch in North Carolina. After three rings on the cell phone, he heard a recorded message: "The number that you have dialed cannot be reached. Please check the number and try your call again." "I think that Cloverleaf Industries somehow knows that we are here," said Travis, as he hung up his cell phone. "Then it's up to us alone. We can't go to the police department. The only hope we have is to infiltrate the facilities in town and find evidence of what they are really up to," said Black, as he went to the window. “In that case," said Jack, as he opened the closet door and produced four M-16s, three handguns, and several cases of ammunition. "These will come in handy." "Where did you get those from?" asked Edward, as he picked up one of the M-16s and aimed it. "Before I came to Virginia, I made a stop at an illegal arms dealer I know. He sold those to me very cheap. He also sold me this," said Jack, as he opened a back panel of the closet and produced a large rifle. "This is the Cobra Assault Cannon, a state of the art plasma cannon produced by the army. It fires only three rounds, put it has enough power to create a bullet hole the size of a car into the armor of a tank." said Jack, as he placed the Cobra Cannon over his shoulder by the small strap on it. "All right, let's get moving, people. We have a facility to take down," said Travis, as he picked up a handgun, a few clips of ammunitions, and an M-16.
In the next room, Bravo Unit One was listening in on their conversation. Respirator still over his face, he held his hand over the small receiver in his ear for better clarity of the conversation. After hearing that the small group had munitions, he radioed into his headquarters. "HQ, this is Bravo Unit One. Tracked down target to Westover Hotel. They are planning to search the Cloverleaf Industries Waste Disposal Plant and the Cloverleaf Industries Medical Supply Warehouse. Send in the Cleaners immediately. A complete Cleansing of the area is in order." "Copy, Bravo Unit One. Report back immediately to receive debriefing." returned the voice over the radio. "Negative. I will see that the mission is completed personally." "Listen to me, you stupid mercenary!" said the voice of Dr. Kincaid over the radio. "I hired you to simply find them and report it back to us. It is not necessary for you to do anything further. Report back immediately or you will not receive your check of $100,000,000. Do you understand?" "Yes, I understand. I understand perfectly. I quit." said the mercenary, as he threw the radio to the ground and stepped on it. He then removed his respirator. Under the mask, the face of Mikhail Nicholas was revealed. Outside the Waste Disposal Plant, Travis, Black, Jack and Edward Rainsford crept slowly towards the main gates of the plant. No one was guarding the gate, which made it much easier to go past security checkpoints. Once inside, Travis and Black went to the elevators and Jack and Edward Rainsford went to the stairs. Just then, a voice erupted over the loudspeakers. "All employees, report to the platform. Repeat. All employees. Repeat. Report to the platform," said the computerized voice over and over on the loudspeaker. "Black, go to that computer terminal. Bring up a map of the building and see where this platform is." Said Jack Rainsford, as he and Edward came back to the main terminal. Black began to quickly type on the keyboard of the computer, trying to access the schematics of the facility. Suddenly, the doors to the facility began to quake. Debris from the walls began to fall to the floor. The windows began to slowly crack. The computerized voice came back over the loudspeaker once again. "Warning, bio-hazard contamination. All employees, report to the bottom platform for evacuation. Repeat. Bio-hazard contamination." "Have you found that map yet?" asked Jack, as he watched the doors nervously. "I am working on it. Give me at least another five minutes," replied Black, as he continued to type at the keyboard. Just then, the doors gave away, and the man in the green trench coat appeared in front of them. The man had in his hands a head of a Cloverleaf Industries security guard. The man then began to slowly approach the team at the computer terminal. "Fire men!" yelled Travis, as he aimed with his M-16 towards the man. The others did the same. Jack, though, was frantically trying to start up his Cobra Cannon. Bullets ricocheted off of the walls, fabric from the coat began to show holes in it, and black blood slowly began to drip off of the man's head. Suddenly, from behind the man, Mikhail appeared with a strange weapon in his arms. When Mikhail saw the man, he aimed his gun at his lower back and fired one shell into him. The shell, in turn, imbedded itself into the man's back. The man then began to rock back and forth, until he finally fell face first onto the floor. "Has the computer sent out any messages?" asked Mikhail, as he ran towards Black and the computer. "It told us to go to the bottom platform. Do you know where it is?" asked Black, as he watched Mikhail come before him. "Yes. It is below the facility. It connects with the Medical Supply facility and a secret laboratory located in an abandoned warehouse in town. The platform is an entryway for the emergency rail car. The rail car goes twenty miles out of town. Let's go, we haven't much time left." "What do you mean? Who are you?" asked Jack in an angered tone. "My name is Mikhail. I am a mercenary that was hired to kill you and your team. About four hours ago, Cloverleaf Industries sent a code to the containment area of their laboratory to release their Bio Organic Weapons from chromo-stasis. " Replied Mikhail, as he produced a white card from his jacket pocket. He then entered it into the card reader beside the computer monitor. From behind them, a section of the wall gave away to reveal an elevator shaft. "This shaft is a direct route to the platform. Let's go." said Mikhail to the team, as he entered the elevator. Just then, the man slowly began to rise to his feet and give chase. "Run!" yelled Black, as he, Jack, Travis, and Edward scrambled into the small elevator compartment. As the doors slammed shut, they heard several loud thumps at the doors before they began their descent. "How did you know what to do?" asked Edward to Mikhail, as Mikhail faced the door of the elevator. "I have been trained by the Cloverleaf Industries Computer Technology Division just in case a biohazard out break occurred while I was on a mission in one of their facilities," replied Mikhail shortly. When the elevator came to the bottom platform, the team slowly made their way out of the elevator. Already in the evacuation chamber were several men and women dressed in lab coats. Then, from out of the train, ten Biohazard Countermeasure Service members stepped out. One of them had a megaphone in his hand. "Ladies and gentlemen, if you would please step single file onto the train, we can be on our way much quicker," said the man, as he signaled for his men to open the compartment doors of the large train. As the doors opened, automatic gunshots were heard in the tunnel ahead of the train. The men and women began to scream and scramble onto the train. The head Biohazard Countermeasure Service member signaled for his teammates to check out the shots. As they headed down the tracks, they were suddenly gunned down by automatic gunfire as well. The shots were coming from an elite group of soldiers in Cloverleaf’s army know as The Clean-Up Service who were tracking Edward, Jack, Travis, Black, and Mikhail. "Come on!" yelled Mikhail, as he ran for the train. Edward, Jack, Travis, and Black followed behind. Just as they entered the train, Travis and Black were suddenly shot in the back. "No!" yelled Edward, as the train pulled a way, causing the bodies to fall off of the train. Edward then fell to the floor of the train compartment and began to beat his fists against the steel floor. "Come on Edward, we have to hide from the Countermeasure Service." said Jack, as he pulled him to his feet. "No you don't. I know the captain at the head of the train. His name is Simon Gruber. He would never shoot any of my friends," said Mikhail, as he opened the door to the next compartment. The face of Captain Simon Gruber met him. "Hello, Mikhail. I know that you and I are friends, but the company wants those two dead as well. The Clean-Up Service has already taken out nine of my best men, not to mention several of the workers that my team was sent to rescue." Said Simon, as he aimed his gun at Jack and Edward. "No. If you kill them, then you're going to have to kill me too." replied Mikhail, as he stepped in front of Simon's gun sight. When Mikhail stepped in front of Simon, Simon shot him. "Though I'm sure I'll miss you, it's time to say good bye. You can either accept death with dignity or die with regret. It is entirely up to you!" said Simon, as he aimed his gun at Jack's head. Three gunshots rang out on the train. Mikhail was still alive, and had pulled his handgun out of its holster and fired it at Simon's stomach region. "You coward." Whispered Mikhail, as he coughed up a clot of blood out of his mouth. "You filthy, stinking coward of a man. Killing for money. I saw the ere of my ways, but you…" Said Mikhail, but stopped to cough up even more blood. "Mikhail, you're going to make it. Just wait here, I'll go to the front compartment and find you a first aid kit." Said Edward, as he went out of the compartment and went to the engine room, leaving Edward with Mikhail. In the next compartment, a wall had been torn out. All the passengers on the compartment had been slaughtered. As he continued down the compartment corridor, he came to the engine room door, which had been torn off as well. Inside, the drivers were missing and the front windows were broken. Jack then began to run into the back compartment. When he reached the entryway, he heard gunfire. When he went inside, Mikhail was sitting up against the sidewall of the compartment, gun raised. At the lower end, someone or something was attacking Edward. "Die." whispered the thing as it grabbed Edward by the throat and lifted him off of the floor. "No, you die!" yelled Jack, as he raised his machine gun up and began to fire at the creature. It then dropped Edward down hard and turned around and faced Jack. The creature was Sigma. "Edward, get over here!" yelled Jack, as he continued to fire at Sigma. When Edward reached Jack and Mikhail, Mikhail began to struggle to his feet. He then drew his strange rifle. "Get out of the compartment, now!" he yelled, as he aimed his rifle at Sigma and prepared to fire. "Mikhail!" yelled Edward, as Jack pulled him out of the compartment and ran to the head of the train. As Sigma approached Mikhail, he growled softly at Mikhail. As Mikhail's rifle fired, a slight change came to Sigma's eye. The retina narrowed as he realized what was happening. The explosion of that one casing was enough to destroy the entire back compartment of the train. "Mikhail." whimpered Edward, as he saw the explosion destroy the back of the train. He then turned to Jack and looked him dead in the eyes. "It's over," he said softly. "No, we still have to bring Cloverleaf Industries down," replied Jack, as he went back to the head of the train. Just then, something jumped on top of the train. "Come on, we have to get off of this train now!" yelled Jack, as he grabbed Edward yet again. Then, something jumped through the fire from the back compartment. It was Mikhail. He was barely alive, and several burned. "Get me to the control panel of the train." he whispered, as he crawled towards Jack and Edward. At the front of the train, Mikhail opened the control panel to reveal a switch marked: Anti-Biohazard Weapons. "This switch activates a strong electrical charge that will be sent to the exterior of the train. Anything or anyone attached to the side of the train will be burned to a crisp." Said Mikhail in an exhausted voice. "I don't know if that thing on the train is what attacked you or the Red Death, but this should stop it from getting us." said Mikhail, as he passed out. Jack then pressed the switch. A computerized voice then came over the intercom of the engine room. "Charging up Tesla Generators. All occupants of the train, please don't touch the walls of the train while the generator charges up," said the voice, as the sounds of a machine whirling filled the train. Just then, the sounds of something screaming in pain filled the tunnel. The computer then came back over the intercom. "Generator overheating. Going into Cool Down Mode. The train shall stop in five minutes." As the train began to slow down, something began to pound on the ceiling of the compartment area. The sounds of metal breaking could be heard in the engine room. "I'm going to go see what that is." said Edward, as he took Jack's machine gun. "You stay here with Mikhail." "All right, but be careful," replied Jack, as he turned to Mikhail lying on the floor. When Edward went into the next compartment, a team of Cleaners met him. The Cleaners wore respirator suits over their bodies and carried sub-machine guns. One of the Cleaners grabbed Edward by the collar and took him to the ground. "Where are they?" asked the Cleaner through the hiss of the respirator. "What?" asked Edward, face touching the warm floor. "Where are Jack Rainsford and Mikhail Nicholas?" asked the Cleaner a second time, this time, pressing the machine gun against the back of Edward's neck. "I don't know what you are talking about." lied Edward, as he struggled to get up from the floor. As he tried to get up, something jumped through the fire from the back compartment. It was Sigma, badly burned, but still alive. The Cleaners took one look at him and opened fired at Sigma. "Don't kill it!" yelled the Cleaner on top of Edward. "They want it alive! $500,000 for the man who knocks the BOW out!" Yelled the Cleaner, as he turned back at Edward, but was met by a gun butt into the head and knocked unconscious. Edward then ran back into the engine room to Mikhail and Jack. "Cleaners are in the compartment, and so is that thing that attack us." He said, as he locked the door. "Hit the emergency brake. We have to get off of the train." Whispered Mikhail, as he got up off of the floor and slumped to the bright red switch that read Emergency Brake and pressed it. The train then screeched to a halt, sending Jack out of the window. Just then, the machine gun fire from the compartment stopped. The door to the engine room was then torn off. Sigma was on the attack. In his hands, he had a head of one of the Cleaners. Edward grabbed Mikhail and jumped out of the window and found Jack dead, crushed by the train stopping. Edward then began to run down the tunnel toward the light at the end. Suddenly, a computerized voice came over the loudspeaker in the tunnel. "Systems indicate biohazard emergency in tunnel system. The D-12021 Gas shall be pumped into the tunnel system. The train shall detonate. Repeat. The train shall detonate." "Run." whispered Mikhail, as he pulled out his handgun and began to fire at Sigma, who was behind then, just getting out of the train. "No, we are going to get out of here," said Edward, as he continued to run down the tunnel. A green gas began to be pumped into the tunnel and began to choke Edward. From behind, he could hear Sigma's heavy footsteps coming closer and closer. Just as Edward felt his strength leaving him, he could feel himself being lifted up by some great strength. When he tried to see who was carrying him, he couldn't make out the shape of the face. He could feel himself begin set down onto a soft surface and into the sunshine. He then heard the sounds of gunfire in the tunnel, and then the sounds of a bomb going off. He then got up and saw fire coming out of the tunnel. Just outside of the tunnel, the burnt body of Sigma lay dead, but Mikhail was nowhere to be seen. "Mikhail! Where are you!" cried Edward, as he wiped his eyes of the remaining molecules of the gas from the tunnel out of his eyes. He then found a note lying on the ground where he was laying. It was from Mikhail. It read the following. Edward,
I'm okay and the monster is dead. I am leaving you here so that you can regain your strength. I have called the Federal Police Department and told them everything. None of them are on Cloverleaf Industries' payroll. Trust me. I'm not going to tell you where I'm heading, but I will say that your brother's, Mr. Travis, and Mr. Black's deaths will be avenged. Cloverleaf Industries is going to pay for their evil. Don't attempt to come into contact with me. Signed. Mikhail Nicholas
As he finished reading, the sounds of approaching police sirens could be heard. Edward walked slowly towards the sound of the cavalry coming. As the police helped him into the squad car, he heard one of them say to send him back to headquarters. He then saw a team of officers carefully enter the tunnel. One of the officers came running back out and threw up onto the grass. The body of Sigma was placed into a body bag and immediately shipped away from the area. Edward was taken to a Federal Police Station located in London, England and was questioned on what he knew about what happened in Westover. In the weeks to come, reports of Cloverleaf Industries facilities all over the country were being closed down by the Federal Police Department. All of the B.O.W's were given to the United States Army Medical Institute of Infectious Diseases. Several of Cloverleaf Industries' top ranking scientists and executive officers were arrested for suspicion in involvement of the unlawful death of over one hundred thousand men, women and children. It all boiled down to the founding fathers of Cloverleaf Industries, Jeremiah Stark and his brother George Stark. George died of a massive heart attack before he could stand trial and Jeremiah Stark was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. Without anyone to run the company, Cloverleaf Industries' stock slowly dwindled down to almost a few pennies, which sent it out of the stock exchange and basically sent Cloverleaf Industries out of the market. Dr. Kincaid was rumored to have escaped into South America, although, no one has proven it. Mikhail Nicholas was never seen again. Only one man on earth has seen him since the incident in Westover. Edward Rainsford claims to have seen him on occasion in large crowds. His face horribly burned from the fire in the tunnel, but he never was able to talk to him. Edward Kenney became a member of the Federal Police Department and became the commissioner of the United States division.
Epilogue
In his apartment, Mikhail Nicholas sat on his bed, cleaning his handgun. On his desk, a folder sat on his desk labeled Classified: For Federal Police Department Distribution ONLY. Inside the folder was a picture of a well-dressed man in a large crowd. Under his picture, the name Dr. Ark Thompson had been hand written. Behind the photograph, there were reports on Dr. Thompson's involvement with Integrated Genetics Incorporated and his involvement with the now forgotten Cloverleaf Industries Chemical Studies Division. Also on his desk sat a letter from the Federal Police Department's commissioner for the United States. Mr. Nicholas:
The Federal Police Department is asking for your help in finding out information on Dr. Ark Thompson, head scientist for Integrated Genetics. The Federal Police Department is willing to pay you the fee of $500,000 for your cooperation. Thank you,
Edward Rainsford As Mikhail sits on his bed, he thinks on what he should do. He hasn't been on active duty for the past few years and feels that he may not have what is necessary to do what is needed. He then gets up and decides firmly to do it. As he leaves, a man dressed in military fatigues stops him. Mikhail is then given a heavy dose of sleeping gas and taken off into a van with an Integrated Genetics Incorporated symbol on the side.

It's not bad. I've spotted a lot of mistakes, but not half bad at all. Your biggest problem, would probably be the way you've written it... couldn't there have been some italics on the written letters? And the fact that dialogue isn't even supposed to be glued together kinda hurts on the eyes, especially for something this long. It's likely other people will skim through most of it (something which I did not do... my head still hurts from all the connected scenes). ~ "Mikhail." whimpered Edward, as he saw the explosion destroy the back of the train. ~ ^ That makes it a little less of a chore to read. Not the way I would've written it, that's for sure, but it doesn't mean what you did was entirely wrong. The way it was glued together is similar to something you'd find in a novel... but that requires a style you didn't use, which therefore hurt the viewers in terms of being able to read in a good and coherent pace--ultimately resulting in you not getting the praise you deserve. Sure, some people would probably say 'Oh crap that's long... you're good!' but that just isn't the right way of giving constructive and helpful criticism. There's no way length could ever cover for quality. Your highest point, would be the effort. You have some interesting ideas in this fic. I don't know what to say about that five years thing... you probably didn't spend much time on it (an average writer, to make something this long would only require about two weeks, two to three hours a day). I know you've got a life and all, so no need to tell me ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) . Overall, it's a little below average given the way it was presented, but if it were made to appease the readers a bit more (spaces, spaces!) it would most definitely rank in the average to above average level in my eyes. Good job nonetheless, and I hope it doesn't take you as long to make your next one (no offense intended whatsoever, I was simply hoping that you'd have more time to write next time) ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) .

A continuation of the story:
Part Five: Cloverleaf Industries Rising
Prologue: After Cloverleaf Industries fell from the market, Global Technologies soon fell as well. It was found after their closings that they were only members of a larger corporation, Integrated Genetic Technologies Incorporated. They were the primary sources of income for Integrated Genetics and when they fell, it suffered a huge loss. Products from Integrated Genetics were quickly pulled off the market and a new owner of the company took seat. As far as the public knows, Integrated Genetics went bankrupt, but several of its research facilities are still in operation. The new owner has kept his identity secret for over five months. All that is known is that Integrated Genetics has no true source of income and continues to hire men to conduct research and to guard several facilities.
Location: London, England; Integrated Genetics Incorporated Prison Facility
"Mr. Nicholas," said the interrogator, as he walked into the room. "Integrated Genetics has discovered some information on your past." "So what. I have reformed from my former mercenary ways," said Mikhail with a look of absolute hatred in his eyes. Around him were four armed guards, each armed with a stun gun and a Berretta handgun. "I am not talking about your days of working with Cloverleaf Industries, but about something that happened to you that you more than likely don't remember. You know of the creature known as the Sigma?" asked the interrogator, as he produced a folder from his briefcase. At this, Mikhail lifted his head up at this and looked the interrogator in the face.
"It has come to our attention that you and the Sigma share a common bound. In fact, given tissue samples of the both of you, we have discovered you and he are one and the same. How can this be possible? The Sigma's body is kept at Fort Detrick at the USAMRIID building and you are here with us. Tell me and you shall live."
"I don't understand. It is impossible. Your sources and your research have to be false. It is impossible," answered Mikhail, as he lowered his head once again.
"You can never say anything is impossible," said a new voice with a strong Russian accent. Mikhail looked up and saw a disfigured man enter the room. The man wore a military uniform and carried a large clipboard. His face had several scars across it and his left eye was whitened.
"Comrade Vladimir." said Mikhail as he stared with content at the new arrival.
"Colonel Alexander Vladimir, formerly of the United Initiative States of Russia, now working with Integrated Genetics Corp." replied Vladimir, as he smiled slyly at Mikhail.
"What do you people want from me!" demanded Mikhail, as he buried his head into his hands.
"You know what we want." Said the interrogator, as he flung the research folder towards Mikhail.
"We want to know what is the connection between you and the Sigma. There is no way that you don't know what the answer is," said Vladimir, as he began to pace the room. Just then, the lights in the room went out, then two loud thuds from Mikhail's direction and the cocking of a gun. As the lights came back on, Vladimir and the interrogator saw that Mikhail had taken the guns from the two guards behind him and knocked them both out and was now aiming the two guns at them.
"Open the door!" demanded Mikhail, as he pointed the guns at the interrogator and Vladimir.
"You will never get out of this complex, Mikhail," said Vladimir, as he slowly opened the door to the hallway. As Mikhail left the room, Vladimir pulled a radio out of his side pack.
"All guards. Be on lookout for prisoner loose in halls. Bring him in alive." ordered Vladimir, as he and the interrogator ran into the hall to give chase to Mikhail.
As Mikhail rounded the corner of the hall, he saw three armed guards running towards him. He quickly aimed his two guns towards the guards, forcing them to take cover and giving Mikhail a chance to get away. As he ran past the cowering guards, Mikhail noticed that the windows in front of him had filled with lights.
"How can car lights reach the third story window?" thought Mikhail to himself as he ran down the hall.
"There he is!" said voices from behind Mikhail. Hearing this Mikhail began to pick up the pace and ran towards the hallway intersection. Just as he reached the turn, the windows were filled with the massive form of a helicopter. As the helicopter hovered in Mikhail's view, Mikhail skidded to a halt in surprise.
"Mikhail Nicolas! Lower your weapons and put your hands on top of your head!" ordered a voice from the helicopter.
"Your joking, right." laughed Mikhail to himself, as he began to run towards the stairwell. Just as he began to run, he noticed that the helicopter had a gun on board. Just as the gun began to fire, Mikhail was able to dodge the spray of bullets. Unfortunately for the guards chasing him, they were completely chewed up by the gunfire from the helicopter.
As Mikhail came to the entrance to the stairwell, he could hear the sound of the helicopter firing at him. He could feel the shrapnel hit the back of his legs and arms. Once he reached the stairwell, he jumped down the stairs and landed on his knees. As he looked up, seven guards, all of which were aiming their weapons at him, met him.
"Mikhail Nicolas! Drop your weapons and put your hands over your head!" ordered one of the guards, as unanimously the guards cocked their weapons. Mikhail slowly got to his feet and stared at the guards. As he stared at them, he noticed that several barrels marked as "flammable" were stacked behind the guards. A gleam came to Mikhail's eyes as he slowly dropped his guns and began to raise his hands above his head. Just as the guards began to lower their weapons, Mikhail quickly grabbed one of his guns before it hit the ground and fired the remaining rounds into the barrels, causing them to explode.
As the flames died down, Mikhail saw that all of the guards were dead. As Mikhail slowly got to his feet, he heard the faint sound of feet coming down the stairs. Quickly Mikhail turned his body and aimed the empty gun at the source of the sound. It was Vladimir armed with an assault rifle.
"Don't move, Comrade Mikhail." whispered Vladimir, as a smirk came to his face at the sight of the empty gun. As the look of realization came to Mikhail's face, he heard a second set of footsteps.
"Colonel Vladimir, take Mr. Nicolas to our Antarctic facility." said a new, familiar voice. When Mikhail turned his head to see the figure, a rifle butt hit him in the back of the head. The last words he heard before he went unconscious where "find it and bring it as well."
Location: Washington D.C., United States of America, Federal Police Department Headquarters
As Edward Rainsford walked into his office, a secretary met him with a memo. When he sat down at his desk, he was horrified to see what the memo read.
Mr. Rainsford,
As of today, you are suspended from Head of the American branch of the Federal Police Department and reassigned to report to the Federal Police Department Prison Dublin, Ireland. It has come to our attention that you have hired a former mercenary by the name of Mikhail Nicolas, whom also was a high ranking officer in the United Initiative States of Russia, to help in the investigation of Dr. Ark Thompson for the sum of $500,000. It is sad that your bright future with us has been destroyed by this incident.
Superintendent Board of Supervisors of the Federal Police Department
Benjamin Belmont
As soon as Edward had read this, a knock came to his door and three fully dressed Federal Police officers came to escort him out of the building. He slowly got up from his desk and approached the men.
"Mr. Rainsford, we are to escort you to the airport." said one of the men, as he flashed a Federal Police Department badge. Rainsford shook his head in acknowledgement of the letter.
When Edward reached the airport, he looked back at the officers who had escorted him. He had given the department his all, and now they strike him down. What did they know about the Cloverleaf Industries incidents? Nothing.
"Bureaucrats." whispered Rainsford, as he reluctantly boarded the plane to Dublin.
Location: Integrated Genetics Corporation Antarctic Research Facility, two hundred miles off the coast of Cape Horn Mikhail awoke in a silver room. A black jumpsuit and a vest had replaced his clothes. At the top of the completely sliver room was a heat vent that sent a moderate temperature of seventy-five degrees. The room had no other signs of a door or even cress in the floor. The only other sight in the room was the outline of a door in front of him. Outside in the hall, he could hear the faint sounds of feet shuffling in a normal manner. He then heard a voice say "good day, sir," and then the hissing of the door opening. Mikhail quickly got to his feet in a defensive position.
A man wearing a gray trench coat and walking with a black cane entered the room. His face was burned in several places. One of his eyes was completely white. On his right hand, he had three fingers missing.
"Mr. Nicholas, I am Dr. Edward Merchant, formerly with the United States Biological Research Institute, Westover, Virginia, perhaps you have heard of me?" said the man, as he limped towards Mikhail.
"Can't say that I have. Your nothing." said Mikhail, as he raised his fist towards Merchant's face. Merchant quickly gripped his cane and removed the false stick and revealed a sword and held it at Mikhail's throat.
"You may be necessary to my research as of now, but if you make any attempt at my life, I will kill you." whispered Merchant as a bead of sweat trickled off of Mikhail's face. "I have already learned not to let anyone meddle in my affairs the hard way. You received a letter from the Federal Police Department from a Mr. Edward Rainsford. He shall also be soon joining you."
"Who are you?" asked Mikhail, as he stepped away from Merchant's blade and backed into a corner.
"I am the sole stock holder of Integrated Genetics Corp. and co-head researcher." smiled Merchant; a he lowered and sheathed his blade back into his cane.
"What do you want with me?"
"Several years ago, when I was still with the United States government, I was studying genetics and bio-organic weaponry. After several failed attempts, my research team found the perfect research subject, children. Because we knew that parents wouldn't willingly give their children, we stole them during the night. As you know, the Westover Police Department is a bumbling force of rednecks with guns. They searched the forest for days and turned up nothing. Then, they called in an elite police unit known as the Special Operations Rescue Team. Lead by Captain John MacDagget, they combed the forest carefully. Knowing that they might come upon our location, we dispatched a test subject to intercept them. Unfortunately, we lost control of it and could only monitor its movements with the camera we had attached to its skull. It took down all but MacDagget and wounded his communications expert, Jack Wilkins. They also attacked our agent and wounded it in several places. As they ran from it in the forest, they came to the entrance to our facility and tried to enter it. I dispatched a team of soldiers to contain MacDagget and disarm the agent. MacDagget proved an excellent subject to test our line of weapons on. He was fast, agile, and resourceful. I underestimated this ability as I oversaw his tests. He took out one of our agents and evaded the other and broke into the control room and attacked me and shot me in the spine. The self-destruct sequence was then triggered and I barely escaped. I vowed MacDagget would pay.
"Unfortunately, my revenge was cut short when Cloverleaf Industries took all my research they found remaining in the rubble. I also learned that the Federal Police Department had arrested MacDagget for excessive force, although he did not trigger the system to destruct mode. My own men did this and then retreated back to Washington. I waited and bided my time. After having my spinal injuries repaired, I saw that Cloverleaf Industries was losing power in government. I then took my chance to create Integrated Genetics. With my funds I had saved in several European banks, I had plenty to completely fund a pharmaceutical company, which doesn't really create anything for the public or any government. For the past few years, I have been creating my own army to overthrow the governments of the world and set myself up as ruler. I would first completely destroy the United States with my newly created army of bio-engineered soldiers. MacDagget would be next on my list of people to pay back to for nearly killing me. You are the perfect soldier, Mikhail, and I wish to find out how to create more like you, except more submissive to control of your creator." finished Merchant, as he turned back to the door.
"What about me? After you've gotten what you need from me, what will you do to me?" asked Mikhail, as he stared with hatred at Merchant.
"Kill you." replied Merchant shortly, as he placed his hand against the door and opened the locks and left Mikhail alone in his silver cell. Location: Federal Police Penitentiary, Dublin, Ireland
"Welcome, Captain Rainsford." said the warden, as he extended his hand to shake Rainsford's. Rainsford quickly gave him a shake and nodded his head. "You have been placed in charge of our most decorated prisoner."
"Decorated? How?"
"Captain John MacDagget was a member of an elite police force called the Special Operations Rescue Team. He was involved in an incident in a small Virginia city that resulted in the destruction of several million dollars in damage to government equipment and completely destroyed a research facility. Also only two other members of his team survived. The Federal Police Department was ordered by the United States Government to be arrested and tried for treason. He was found guilty and sentenced to life here. Before is arrest, he had received medals for his various successful missions he had lead with his team." replied the warden, as he handed Rainsford his radio, badge, and stun baton.
"Why does MacDagget need a guard?"
"Although there are other prisoners who could be worthy of a guard assigned to them, MacDagget is the only one the department will allow for one of the best guards to watch. Also, he's a trained expert in several forms of defense and weapons training. Keep your stun baton at your side, strapped, and out of reach of the prisoner at all times. He's located on Level 4 Sub-Basement, only prisoner on the entire block. You and Sergeant Doyle will be on constant duty. You'll be relieved in seven hours." finished the warden, as he pointed to the elevator and left Rainsford to his work.
Rainsford reached the cellblock and found that MacDagget was chained to a rail on the ceiling and that the floor was marked off on where one could be out of his reach. MacDagget had brown hair, a slight beard, about six feet tall, and had a cold, empty stare. As Rainsford entered MacDagget's view, his eyes fixed with Rainsford's.
"You're an American," he said in his Irish drawl. "Kicked off of the Federal Police Department, right?" he snickered, as he began to walk towards Rainsford. Automatically, Rainsford reached for his gun, unfortunately, he only found a stun baton. MacDagget let a hearty laugh out at this.
"Hip's feeling lighter, isn't it?" He asked, as he began back to the far side of his cell. As he did this, an explosion rang out above them. Alarms began to go off and the lights went out. Gunfire echoed throughout the sub-basement, as Rainsford looked helplessly up at the ceiling.
MacDagget wasn't looking at the ceiling; he was frantically working at the locks of his chains around his wrists and ankles to get his hands free. Suddenly, the elevator doors opened and several men dressed in black jumpsuits piled out. All of the men had on respirators and were armed with MP-5 Submachine guns, all of which were pointed at Rainsford and MacDagget. One of the men stepped out in front of the rest and took off his respirator mask.
"I am Colonel Alexander Vladimir. My men and I have come for Captain John C. MacDagget." he said, as he pointed his MP-5 directly at Rainsford. All the while, MacDagget had loosened his chains and had slipped into the darkness of the far corner of his cell. Vladimir motioned for three of his six men to collect him. As the men went into the darkness, several cries of pain rang out in the large cell.
Suddenly, the lights came back on and MacDagget was seen, holding two MP-5's and ready to fire. Vladimir took one look at MacDagget and made his way back into the elevator and made his way back up top, leaving his men. The men quickly tried to release the safety catches of their guns, but were gunned down by MacDagget before they could do so. MacDagget looked at Rainsford and smiled.
"I was wondering if I still had it in me." said MacDagget, as he tossed an MP-5 to Rainsford. Rainsford looked at it and then back at MacDagget. "You know, once whoever sent these men knows that they are dead, they will send even more men to get me, and kill anyone who gets in their way."
"Your in Federal Police Custody." said Rainsford, as he pointed the MP-5 at MacDagget.
"They got into this place and past security and they even got in here. You think they can't get to me again? You are a fool if you believe the Federal Police can hold them off!" yelled MacDagget, as he made his way to the elevator.
Rainsford looked down at his guard uniform. He also looked at his I.D. card. He had rights to the weapons storage to the prison.
"MacDagget!" he called, as he looked up from his thoughts. MacDagget turned around and smiled. "I can get us some better equipment." Rainsford said, as he tossed MacDagget his I.D.
"Listen, if who sent those men is who I think it is, your going to need more than a few more stun batons or even a freaking Tesla Rifle! I have seen things that would make your skin crawl, boy!"
"This facility holds more than electrical weaponry. It has a large supply of AK-47's and three Plasma Rifles. Enough to cut through any type of bio-weapon."
"How did you…?" asked MacDagget in a dumbfounded tone.
"A while back I encountered a creature of pure evil and a mixture of one mutant virus. I saw him blown up, shot, and poisoned with Anti-B.O.W. Gas, and I think it still survived."
"Alright, let's get moving." replied MacDagget with a shrug, as they entered the elevator and made their way to weapons storage.

Location: USAMRIID, Fort Detrick Military Base, Maryland
Deep inside the military institution, at the Level 4 Bio-Containment Room, a full time staff worked around the clock, studying the body of a creation of the former genetic engineering firm, one that seemed impossible to kill and regenerated any lost limbs. They had tried burning it, shooting it, hanging it, poisoning it, and submerging in sulfuric acid, only to find that it caused it's cellular composition to find a way to not be harmed by it. After they finished with testing several chemical and viral agents against it, they sent it back into it's holding chamber, a room that restrained every single part of it's body with titanium bands and locking it in an air tight chamber and locking the chamber inside of the storage of the facility. As the research team was getting ready to have it brought back out for more testing, helicopters began to fire at the base. A squad of special operatives had been dropped off onto the base and was attacking the base and had broken into the research center. As the military tried to counter attack, they were easily picked off one by one by the elite soldiers.
In less than five minuets, they had taken out all of the soldiers on guard, captured the scientists on duty and had destroyed the security tapes. They then reached the room the subject was kept in. They ordered the scientists to bring in the large cryogenic capsule that they had brought to transport it in. After they had gotten the creature loaded into their helicopter, they lined the scientists up and killed them execution style.
They had left before morning ever came. They had safely got back to the Antarctic Research Base before the United States government had even been informed that the base had been over taken.
Location: Costa Rica
Dr. William Kincaid had been in the city for nearly a month now. He had assumed the alias of Benjamin Marvin to throw the Federal Police Department off of his trail. He was now living very comfortably in his own villa with a small staff of servants. His money he had saved from Cloverleaf Industries had been withdrawn completely from the banks and sent to a holding firm in the city. He had enough money to live comfortably for years.
Today is the day for his daily pickup of fifty thousand from his account. As he walked down the street, he noticed that very few cars and people were out that afternoon. He also noticed that the streets lacked the usual police officers he greeted on his way to town.
The assault came out of nowhere. Suddenly, he heard a helicopter begin to hover over him, doors from homes broke down and men dressed in full body armor and armed with MP-5 submachine guns had surrounded Kincaid. He quickly raised his hands over his head and placed his face to the ground. The next thing Kincaid knew, he was boarded onto the helicopter and greeted by several familiar faces from the company.
"Welcome back to the fold, Dr. Kincaid." said one of the scientists, as he shook Kincaid's hand.
"What's going on?"
"The mother company, Integrated Genetic Technologies has decided to hire back all the former researchers working in Cloverleaf Industries' bio-engineering division. We're being taken to the Antarctic to the top research facility."
Kincaid folded his hands together and smiled.

Mikhail awoke from his sleep and found that he had been taken to a new room during the night. This room was an ordinary prison cell, complete with five armed mercenaries outside of the cage. As Mikhail got to his feet, he saw that a security camera had been mounted in his cell and that a series of security monitors that showed the outside hall, a laboratory, and the entrance to the facility from other camera's around the complex.
"Ah, your finally awake." echoed the voice of Merchant over the loud speaker in Mikhail's cell.
"Where am I?"
"You have been moved to a new cell so that you may see how determined I am to accomplish my goal. I hope you have noticed the equipment?"
"Yes, but why have you given me access to your security system?"
"Most certainly someone might try to save you from the facility. A particular Federal Policeman named Edward Rainsford? I am sure he'll make a feeble attempt to enter my facility. You shall see what shall happen if he comes and then we shall begin." replied Merchant, as the lights in Mikhail's cell went out and the only form of light came from the monitors.
Location: Moscow, The Kremlin, United Initiative States of Russia.
"Comrade Primer, we have received word on movement of our operative." Said one of Primer Genevieve's advisors, as he stared at his vast view of cold Moscow hillside.
"Where is he?" Demanded the Primer, as he turned to his advisor.
"We last received his signal near Cape Horn of South America. Shall we deploy Alpha Team to strike?"
"No, get an exact bearing on him and then go for the invasion. I want this Integrated Genetics mess to be cleared up completely. Where ever this company is located, I want the buildings burned to the ground, the scientists executed, and whatever experiments they have been working on destroyed completely from existence." replied the Primer as he turned back to his view of the hillside

"Colonel Vladimir, I hope you have apprehended Mr. MacDagget for me," said Dr. Merchant's voice over Vladimir's headset.
"I am sorry to report, sir, that MacDagget has evaded our capture. He took out six of my men. He is better than I anticipated."
"No matter. I suppose he has gone into hiding. He'll be waiting for our next move." Said Merchant. "Vladimir, how do you bring someone out of hiding?"
"You get something he wants."
"Or something or someone he cares for. Go to the Dublin University and find his daughter, Shannon MacDagget. I shall also be accompanying you on this action. Be ready on my arrival." finished Merchant, as static returned to Vladimir's headset.
"Alright, you heard the man," said Vladimir as he turned to the pilot. "Back to Dublin, we have another assignment."
Location: Washington D.C., United States of America, Pentagon.
"We have a situation." Said the Secretary of State to the President. "USAMRIID has been overrun and robbed of the Cloverleaf Industries specimen. The Federal Police Prison Facility in Dublin has also been broken into and a prisoner and a guard are unaccounted for."
"Who are the men?"
"Former Captain John Calvin MacDagget and Edward Rainsford, formerly of the Federal Police Department."
"Take them both down. They are a danger to national security. What about USAMRIID, do we have a contingency plan in case of a takeover? The bio-weapon in question was reported as indestructible to chemical and physical weapons. "
"We have none sir, except for the Omega Plan."
"Let's hope we don't have to come to a total loss of the United States, we have it too good to lose what we have worked so hard for."

As Merchant was preparing for his departure, he was approached by one of his researchers. He was carrying a syringe filled with a blue liquid.
"What is it Donaldson?" asked Merchant in an irritated tone.
"Sir, we have done it. The research has been completed for you. We have finished adding the final elements for you," said Donaldson excitedly, as he handed Merchant the syringe.
"Thank you." whimpered Merchant, as he pulled the sleeve of his suit and brought a vein to the surface. He then injected the liquid into his arm. It caused his entire body to twitch as it did its effect. "Dr. Donaldson," he said, as his body stopped shaking. "Thank you," he said, as he grabbed Donaldson by the throat and squeezed. Donaldson's neck snapped easily. Merchant smiled.
Merchant's white-eye tuned a healthy blue. The scars on his face disappeared. His fingers grew back. Merchant's eyes then turned a ghastly shade of bright red in the pupils. He got a pair of black sunglasses out of his vest pocket and placed them over his eyes. He then went to the heliport of the facility.
Meanwhile, Mikhail was busy reviewing the security files of the facility's system. He had found an interesting file that looked like someone's back yard. A man was beating a woman's head against a tree.
"Mommy!" cried a boy from the background. Suddenly, the man stopped beating the woman's head against the tree and looked up. The little boy ran up to the man, crying.
"Don't worry, son." said the man, as he approached the boy. It was a younger Dr. Edward Merchant who had beat his wife to death.
"Mommy's hurt!" cried the boy, as tears flowed down his cheeks.
"No, mommy had to take her medicine for snooping around daddy's special work." he said, as he gripped the boy around his shoulder. "But you won't tell, will you?"
"No, sir." whimpered the boy as he tried to break Merchant's grip. Merchant tossed the boy towards his mother.
"You little pup, you're just like her!" he said as he began to beat his son's head against the tree. Mikhail couldn't believe it and turned off the tape. He looked up at the camera in his cell and threw the tape at it, shattering it.

Shannon MacDagget walked down the street towards her dormitory. As she reached the front door, she thought she felt the wind pick up, but it died down too quickly for it to matter.
"Greetings." Said a voice behind her. She turned and saw a man wearing a black pair of sunglasses, a gray Kevlar vest, and a black jumpsuit. In the man's hand was a gun. "You must be the lovely Shannon MacDagget."
"Who are you? I'll scream," she said, as she turned completely around to face the man.
"Let's just say that I am a ghost coming back to haunt your dear father. Now put your hands up," said the man as he approached her.
"I know who you are. Your that guy, Merchant."
"It seems you know everything. All better for me. Now that I have you, your ever so caring father is sure to come out into the open. I must thank you for being such good bait." smiled Merchant, as he began to approach Shannon.
"I don't really know what occurred between you two, but my father is not going to fall for any of your tricks," sneered Shannon. Merchant ran to Shannon and grabbed her by the throat.
"Your father ruined my plans! For this, I despise him!" he shouted at her.
"What are you going to do to him?" gasped Shannon. As she said this, Merchant released his chock hold and backslapped Shannon across the face, sending her down to the grass. He smiled as he placed his foot over her neck and began to press against it.
"Oh how your father will weep to see that you have died!" he laughed. He then lifted his foot from Shannon's throat and looked down at her. "I believe you may be of further use to me alive." Said Merchant, as he pressed the sunglasses up onto his nose and stared at Shannon. Shannon saw a shimmer of red in his eyes as he did this and shuddered in fear.
Suddenly, fifteen armed Integrated Genetics Security guards surrounded Shannon and pointed automatic rifles at her. She stood up and raised her hands above her head and surrendered. She was taken to Merchant's helicopter.

Location: Dublin International Airport, Ireland.
Rainsford and MacDagget, dressed in Federal Police SWAT uniforms, marched towards the Federal Police Port. "Are you sure this will work?" asked MacDagget though the respirator of the suit.
"Of course. I have the proper paper work and a lot of Euros. One thing about airport security is that it is easily bribed."
As they approached the terminal, three armed Federal Guards walked up to MacDagget and Rainsford.
"Papers." one of them demanded, as the other scanned the barcodes on their SWAT uniforms. After paying the guards eight hundred Euros apiece, they were escorted to a Federal Police Helicopter.
"Ready?" asked Rainsford, as he turned on the helicopter's propellers. MacDagget was pulling parts of the AK-47's out of his backpack. He also pulled out the parts to a Plasma Assault Rifle.
"Of course." smiled MacDagget, as he quickly put the Kalashnikov Rifles together. They left Ireland without anyone alerting the Federal Police Department.
As they flew over the Atlantic, Rainsford turned on the radio in the cockpit to listen in case the police had discovered that they had escaped. It was then that an announcement of a kidnapping from the Dublin University of a female student went over the scanner.
"Attention all FPD Officers, kidnapping at the Dublin University," said the dispatcher over the radio. MacDagget looked up quickly from his work and paid close attention to what Rainsford had just tuned into. "Female student, five feet tall, red hair, name MacDagget, Shannon. Last seen in class last night. Reported missing, turned to kidnapping when note found. Note reads, 'we have unfinished business you and I. Signed Merchant…"
At that, MacDagget turned off the radio and looked at Rainsford.
"He's got my daughter," he gasped, as he looked blankly at Rainsford.
"Who does? What kind of unfinished business was the note talking about?" asked Rainsford, as he looked at MacDagget with pity.
"Dr. Edward Merchant, formerly with the United States Viral Studies Commission. I thought I killed him in Virginia. I shot him six times in the back. He should be dead." Said MacDagget, as he looked down at his AK-47. He then looked back up at Rainsford, a gleam of rage in his eyes. "Tell me, can you find him?"
"With the Federal Police resources, of course, but we're fugitives on the run. We can't make a request to central command without proper authorization."
"We didn't get this helicopter with proper authorization, now call them and demand to do a check on the whereabouts of Merchant."
Location: Integrated Genetics Corporation Antarctic Research Facility
Dr. Ark Thompson oversaw the movement of the capsule from USAMRIID to the experiment room. As the workers unloaded it off of the helicopter, the experiment room had been prepped with a special coolant system to keep the capsule at -100 degrees Celsius. As the capsule got into the chamber, Thompson ordered the staff to quickly connect it to the coolant system immediately.
As the capsule was being delivered, Dr. Kincaid's helicopter had landed at the facility. Several familiar faces from Cloverleaf Industries, most of which were mercenaries, greeted him warmly.
"Who is the owner of this fine establishment?" asked Kincaid, as he scanned around the halls and labs of the facility.
"Dr. Edward Merchant is the head of Integrated Genetics and owner of this facility and all research conducted within It." said one of the men escorting him to his new laboratory.
"Indeed." mused Kincaid, as he walked into his new lab. In it, he found a control room for the capsule that had been delivered and controls for all of the security measures and for the release switches of all the developing genetically altered army.
"I must say. I am impressed." Laughed Kincaid as he turned back to his escort. "What is this control station for?" he asked as he motioned towards the panel for the capsule.
"That is for a bio-weapon confiscated by us from the USAMRIID facility in Fort Detrick, Maryland."
"What is it called?"
"The Sigma. A bio-weapon like none other…"
"Yes, I know that, but why bring it here? The blasted thing can't be killed or controlled."
"That is Dr. Merchant's business. You are in control of its release only."
"Alright, fine enough for me. I see by the security monitors, you have a prisoner in holding, who is it?"
"An obscure Major in the Initiative Army turned mercenary named Mikhail Nicolas."
"I must have done something right in a past life." laughed Kincaid, as he slapped his escort on the back and asked him to take him to the cell area.
Location: Atlantic Ocean, in route to Integrated Genetics Corporation Antarctic Facility MacDagget stared blankly into space, as he held the AK-47 in his arms. On his back was a Plasma Rifle and at his side was a Colt Python Revolver. Rainsford had a look of worry on his face as he stared over at MacDagget.
"John, we'll save her and get this Merchant fellow." He said reassuringly. MacDagget just sat there and nodded his head. "Don't do this. If you lose your composure, you'll in up getting us killed or captured."
` "Look!" yelled MacDagget, as he jerked his head in Rainsford's direction. His face was filled with rage. "I saw what that man did to children! I can't possibly imagine what he'll do to my Shannon!" MacDagget's eyes began to well with tears and turned his head back to the window and continued to stare at the ocean below passing by. ____________________________________________________
"Sir, the radar has picked up another helicopter in the area," reported the guard to Merchant, as Shannon MacDagget fidgeted in the handcuffs and ankle locks they had put on her.
"What direction is it flying?" asked Merchant, as he opened his eyes and quickly put his sunglasses back on.
"Towards the Antarctic Circle. It's a Federal Police Helicopter. Shall we track its exact position and engage it?"
"No. I want to see if it goes to the facility. Just make sure we get there before they have a chance to." replied Merchant, as he looked over to Shannon and smiled. "I think we are going to have a little bit of company. I'm so glad that I dressed for the occasion."
"Once my dad finds you, you'll wish that he would have killed you in Westover." Said Shannon.
"My dear, he did, except he didn't finish the job. I was going to rule the world, be declared the savior of the human race, but he ruined my plan. Now, he must pay."
The soldiers on board looked at Merchant nervously, especially at his black sunglasses. To them, he was possibly the only thing on earth they feared. They had seen him go from a feeble, nearly crippled man, to this cruel, heartless, monster that spoke now of only revenge, not the world domination they had once been promised. _____________________________________________________
"Comrade Primer, our operative's signal has come back," said the submarine commander of the Initiative vessel over the radio to the Kremlin.
"Da, proceed with mobilizing the troops. I what everyone to be in formation by dawn tomorrow, we are moving out. The only person I want alive is our operative, he deserves the Star of Russia." replied the Primer's cold voice over the radio. The commander of the submarine beamed with pride to be speaking directly to the Primer.
"Comrade Primer, it is an honor to be under your command. You shall lead us into a new birth of mother Russia."
"Where is the exact location of the beacon?" asked the Primer, not noticing the commander's comments.
"The Antarctic, two hundred miles off the coast of Cape Horn. Our radar shows no buildings in the area, but it could be an underground bunker."
"Excellent, I shall inform Fleet Command and send re-enforcements to help you secure the area." Said the Primer. "I want this matter cleared up by at the least noon tomorrow."
Location: Integrated Genetics Corporation Antarctic Research Facility
Rainsford brought the helicopter down slowly, nodding to MacDagget to hand him an AK-47. As the helicopter touched down on the landing pad, Rainsford and MacDagget noticed that no one was around the pad guarding it. The icy wind that stirred up the snow and ice on the ground blinded their view of the surrounding area except for the entrance to a large bunker. The two men entered the bunker in formation, thinking they had evaded security. ____________________________________________________
At the interior landing pad, Merchant's helicopter arrived. Merchant quickly exited the helicopter and ordered that Shannon be sent into the cell with Mikhail.
"I want you to see first hand what those who try and stop me have to endure," he said, as he briskly went to one of the guards and ordered him to equip the unit taken from USAMRIID with a robotic suit. ___________________________________________________
As Mikhail watched the security monitors, he saw Rainsford and MacDagget enter the facility. He also saw Merchant arrive back at the facility. Merchant had a young girl with him.
"No. Rainsford, why?" whispered Mikhail to himself, as he watched in horror as Rainsford and MacDagget enter the lab which several men had just exited from. "Why didn't you leave me? You'll get yourself killed," continued Mikhail to himself, as he reached into his boot and produced a very small locator and placed it on the table with the monitors on it.
"Mikhail, face the wall!" ordered a guard roughly, as the cell door opened and the girl Merchant arrived with was tossed into the cell with Mikhail. Mikhail quickly put the device back into his boot and faced the wall. As the cell door slammed shut again, Mikhail turned around and looked at the girl with sorrowful eyes.
"Who are you?" she asked, as tears welled in her eyes.
"No matter. I don't exist. Who are you?"
"I'm Shannon MacDagget. They said that I would see my dad here."
"Is he one of those men on this monitor?" asked Mikhail, as he pointed to one of the screens with MacDagget and Rainsford creeping into the facility. Shannon put her hand over her mouth in awe and said that it was. __________________________________________________
"Release the Sigma!" ordered Merchant, as he stood on the main platform above Kincaid. Kincaid looked at Merchant with disgust and turned to him.
"You are insane. I have dealt with this thing before and we could not control it!" He shouted, as he made his way towards where Merchant stood.
"Do as I say! I have equipped it with one of our newly developed metal exoskeletons so that we can tell it what to view as a threat. I have everything under control!"
"No, you don't! You are mad with power, and I think someone needs to put you in your place!" yelled Kincaid, as he quickly turned to a console and began to erase the programming in the Sigma's suit. He then switched on the release of the monster."
"What did you do?" demanded Merchant, as he slowly came down to Kincaid.
"Showing you that you can't control the Sigma!" laughed Kincaid as he ran out of the room in a mad frenzy.
"Find him and kill him. I want the programming of the Sigma's suit brought up immediately!" ordered Merchant to the men below him, as he placed his hands on the railing. Just then, several alarms began to go off on the security monitors.
"Warning," said a computerized voice over the loudspeaker system. "Bio-weapon released. Warning. Bio-weapon released. Facility under attack." Finished the computer, as a monitor showed the Sigma limping down the corridor of the facility, ripping off several parts of its mechanical suit.
"All guards on high alert. I want the Sigma recaptured. Vladimir, report to main control." Ordered Merchant, as he began to type into a computer console, hopping to find a way to stop the Sigma. _______________________________________________ "What's that?" asked MacDagget, as sirens began to blare over the facility. Suddenly, a door was thrown off of its hinges and the Sigma walked out. The Sigma was still covered with parts of the mechanical suit that Merchant had put on it. Its face was covered by a large facemask that completely blocked it's mouth from opening and the blinders on the side of the facemask hindered its eyesight. It stared at MacDagget and Rainsford, moaning through the mask, and began to stagger towards them.
"Run for it!" yelled Rainsford, as he hoisted his AK-47 over his shoulder and ran down the corridor they had came from. MacDagget jumped into a large chamber and slammed the sliding metal door behind him. When MacDagget turned around, he saw several capsules, all of which were attached to piping that was connected to a central container marked as "P-Epsilon Storage".
"What is this?" thought MacDagget to himself, as he held the AK-47 out in front of him, aiming for any possible threat. He then saw inside one of the capsules. It looked like a man, but yet, it was curled up in a ball and its skin seemed to be dripping off of it.
He then heard the sound of the Sigma pounding on the door. He quickly reached into his pack and produced the Plasma Rifle. Just as it seemed the door would give way, the pounding stopped and the Sigma's limping footsteps slowly dyed away. __________________________________________________
Rainsford ran until he came to a stairwell. He took one quick glance behind him and saw that the Sigma hadn't followed him. He slowly went down into the stairwell and pointed his assault rifle out in front of him. He came to a door marked as "Cell Block A" and entered. Inside, he saw a lone guard aiming his pistol into a cell.
"Drop it!" ordered Rainsford, as he aimed the AK-47 directly at the guard's chest. The guard slowly turned around and dropped his pistol. "Now open the cell!" demanded Rainsford as he motioned with his gun for the door to be opened. The guard slowly reached into his vest and produced a set of keys and opened the cell. Mikhail and Shannon quickly ran out of the cell.
"Edward Rainsford." smiled Mikhail, as he stared at Rainsford. "Why did you come here?'
"Call it a rescue mission. Your Shannon MacDagget aren't you?" asked Rainsford, as he kept the assault rifle firmly aimed at the guard.
"Yes, but how did you know?"
"I came here with your father, we have to hurry and find him and get out of here." replied Rainsford, as he turned his complete attention to the guard. "Now get into the cell, lock yourself in and give me the keys," he ordered and the guard sullenly complied. ________________________________________________ Back in the master control room, his men were abandoning Merchant. He was slowly falling into a deranged paranoia. He looked at the security monitors and saw that the fellow that MacDagget came with had released Mikhail and Shannon. He banged his hands against the keyboard of the computer terminal and picked up his chair and threw it into the monitors, causing flames to erupt inside the control room.
"Cowards! How dare you leave me!" he shouted, as he began to run out of the control room. In the hall, he was met by the Sigma.
"You! You ruined this!" he yelled, as he began to run in a mad rage towards the Sigma. The Sigma tried to raise its arms to combat the deranged scientist, but was quickly punched in the face by a heavy blow. This caused the entire facemask to break off, revealing the Sigma's scorched face. It moved its jaw around and stared at this new and seemingly stronger foe. Merchant was already continuing his fury attack by kicking the Sigma in the stomach, causing the creature to jump back. As Merchant raised his fist to send another blow across the Sigma's face, it caught Merchant's fist and then grabbed him around the neck with it's other hand.
"Die." it whispered in its course voice, as it began to squeeze. Merchant smiled and kicked the Sigma in the stomach yet again and then kicked it across the face.
"You can't kill me!" laughed Merchant, as he jumped in the air and brought his fist crashing down into the Sigma's skull, embedding it inside of it's head. The Sigma staggered around twice and fell to the floor limp.
"You fight very well," said a voice behind Merchant. Merchant turned his head and saw Kincaid standing behind him, holding a syringe that contained the same chemical that he had taken. It was being emptied into Kincaid's arm.
"That is my last sample! I want it back, now!" demanded Merchant, as he pushed the Sigma's dead body from his hand.
"You want it? You are not worthy of its power!" cried Kincaid, as he felt the chemical do its work, but he felt something different, something that caused his stomach to tie itself in knots. Kincaid doubled over and began to convulse.
"Fool. Your DNA is rejecting the toxin. You thought you could take what was mine?" laughed Merchant, as he slowly walked towards Kincaid, not noticing the Sigma regrouping it's lost brain matter and getting back to it's feet.
As Merchant approached Kincaid, he heard the sound of heavy footsteps behind him. When he turned around, he was met by the Sigma's massive hands, which gripped around his throat. The Sigma then began to toss Merchant back and forth onto the walls of the corridor. Blood spouted from Merchant's mouth as the Sigma threw him to the ground. Merchant stared up at the Sigma as blood clouded his eyes.
"Please…" he pleaded, as the Sigma stood there looking down at him. It then picked him up by the shirt collar and began to drag him down the hall. __________________________________________________ Mikhail told Rainsford everything he had seen on the security tapes and how he was captured. Rainsford listened carefully and decided it was time for them to find MacDagget, get back to the helicopter and escape.
"It won't be that easy," said Mikhail, as he took the guard's pistol from the ground and followed Rainsford down the corridor. "The snow has probably blocked the exit to the outdoor helipad. You'll have to use the secondary helipad, which is on the other side of the facility."
"Alright, let's find MacDagget," said Rainsford, as they turned a corner. At the end of the corridor they had just entered, Vladimir had just staggered into it, uniform torn in patches, and his shoulder bleeding.
"Help me!" he yelled when he saw the group and began to run to them. As he ran to the group, they noticed that something was after him and it was dragging a body behind it.
"What is that?" cried Shannon when she saw the thing behind Vladimir. Mikhail took one look at it and knew it was the Sigma. Rainsford also saw that it was the Sigma. He grabbed Shannon by the arm and began to run in the other direction, but Mikhail refused to follow and aimed his gun at the Sigma and fired it empty into its chest and head. He then threw the gun at it and ran into a laboratory. Vladimir ran quickly after Rainsford and Shannon while the Sigma dropped the body it was dragging and decided to give chase to Mikhail into the lab.
As the Sigma left, the body of Merchant began to move slightly and then abruptly, Merchant rose to his feet. Merchant could feel that his body was on the verge of collapse, but in his mind, he needed to get MacDagget. This lone thought drove him now. World domination was out and revenge was the sole purpose of his existence now. He smiled as he limped down the hall following Vladimir, Shannon, and Rainsford. He smiled as he held onto the side of the corridor for support, thinking how he would dispose of his remaining enemies in the facility.

Inside the lab, Mikhail dodged the Sigma's sight by ducking behind a large generator. He heard the Sigma, as it limbed its heavy body across the room, dragging its legs behind it like a wounded animal. Suddenly, Mikhail's tracking device in his boot began to go off. The beeping had attracted the Sigma and it began to punch the enormous generator with all its might. Just then, Mikhail saw a spark and could smell burning flesh. He then saw the Sigma slump onto the floor; it's body burning from the electrical shock. Mikhail then took the tracking device out and pressed the receive button on it.
"Comrade Nicolas," said the message on the display of the device. "Initiative reinforcements shall arrive in two hours. Report to the facility's heliport and send a signal for helicopter to pick you up."
Mikhail nodded his head and left the laboratory with the Sigma's burning body and began to make his way to the weapon storage. He had to help his friends escape. _________________________________________________ MacDagget made his way into the main corridor and found the dead body of Dr. Kincaid. He gasped at the sight of the man's liquefied flesh in a pile of scientist's clothes. He looked down the hall that he found the body and saw a trail of blood leading towards the prison cells. MacDagget took haste in following the trail, but not without putting his plasma rifle out in front of him. As he followed the blood trail, he came to its end and found a lab with fire burning inside of it. He walked inside and found the Sigma lying face first on the floor in smoldering flames. Its body was slightly twitching as its charred flesh. MacDagget took careful aim and left one quick blast of the plasma rifle goes onto the Sigma. It completely took away the Sigma's torso and most of its arms and legs. MacDagget smiled and quickly fired five more shots, completely destroying the Sigma. All that remained was an imprint on the floor of the Sigma's last position. MacDagget threw down the drained Plasma Rifle and exited the lab and went back into the corridor.
When MacDagget got back into the corridor, he heard his daughter scream.
"Shannon!" he called back, as he began to run down the corridor.
"Dad! Help us!" she answered, as her voice muffled away. MacDagget could hear the sound of feet shuffling as if someone had grabbed her from behind. When he reached the source of the sounds, he found Rainsford, unconscious, lying on the floor. Next to him, he found one of Shannon's shoes. A sudden burst of rage filled MacDagget as he looked up and saw Merchant standing there, holding his daughter in one hand and a black cane in the other.
"Let her go!" he demanded, as he began to raise the AK-47 from his pack.
"I wouldn't do that, MacDagget," whispered Merchant, as he slid the cane across the wall, scraping away the false wood covering and revealing the sword beneath it. Merchant then pressed it across Shannon's throat just enough to cause it to bleed.
"Dad…" whimpered Shannon, as Merchant pressed the sword to her neck.
"You don't want her! Let her go, and I'll fight you man to man!" Pleaded MacDagget, as he threw down all his weapons and raised his arms in the air in surrender.
"No. I want you to suffer MacDagget. You ruined my plans! I could have had the world, but you got involved in the wrong place at the wrong time!" screamed Merchant, as he pressed the sword harder on Shannon's neck.
"Sir, let the girl go," said a voice behind Merchant. Merchant quickly glanced behind himself and saw Vladimir standing there.
"Never. He took so much away from me. It's time I repaid the favor…right now!" laughed Merchant as he raised the sword to swipe it across Shannon's throat. Then, three gunshots rang out in the corridor. Merchant's sword fell out of his hand, Vladimir fell down to the floor, and Shannon quickly ran to her father. The third shot hit Merchant in the shoulder, causing him to hit the wall behind him. Mikhail came from behind MacDagget, gun drawn out in front of him and aiming at Merchant's head.
"Monster." whispered Mikhail, as he walked towards Merchant. Shannon quickly ran to her father and hugged him. MacDagget looked at Mikhail and Merchant with cold eyes.
"Mikhail, take Shannon to the heliport and leave me with Merchant. I'll be along later," said MacDagget, as he drew his sleeves up onto his elbows.
"But, I think we should kill him now!" Argued Mikhail, as he stared with hatred at Merchant.
"This is personal, between me and him. Now go, hurry!" ordered MacDagget. "Take Rainsford with you."
"Oh, I don't think so." smiled Merchant, as he drew a remote control from his coat pocket and pressed a series of buttons on it. Suddenly, the hallway went dark and the floor began to open up and Merchant, MacDagget, and Rainsford fell down into the darkness. Shannon and Mikhail were left above, watching helplessly as the lights returned and saw that MacDagget was fallen on the floor injured.
'MacDagget! Are you alright?" called Mikhail, as he aimed his gun down the shaft, searching for Merchant.
"Yes, now go! Get my daughter to safety!"
"Dad!" cried Shannon, as she fell to the floor, trying to reach her arm down and grab her father. "Don't leave me again!" she pleaded.
"I promise that I'll find you." said MacDagget, as he got to his feet, picked up his fallen weapons at his feet, and began to make his way into the dim darkness of the corridor. As he walked along the illuminated path, he found himself inside of a large room, filled with several cylinders that contained a bright red liquid. Above him, a light came on in a small room. Inside the room, he could see the outline of a man standing there and looking down on him.
"Welcome to my parlor', said the spider to the fly." laughed the voice of Merchant over the loudspeaker. Suddenly, the cylinders slid open, emptying the liquid onto the floor and revealing the true contents. Humanoid creatures bound in metal suits. "This game is not over yet. Now you learn what true terror is all about!" laughed Merchant, as the creatures all in unison began to march towards MacDagget. MacDagget began to fire his AK-47 as the creatures began to horde around him. It seemed to MacDagget that he was finished, but it was then that the Initiative launched it's attack.
Suddenly, the room quaked from the explosions above ground. The ceiling began to fall onto the creatures, crushing them beneath the massive weight. MacDagget was just quick enough to dodge a large chunk of ceiling from hitting him. He looked up to see that the room that Merchant was watching from had collapsed on itself.
"Comrade, missile launching in progress." said the soldier on board the Initiative submarine to the Primer over the satellite phone. "Is Comrade Nicolas out of the base yet?" "Our radar picked up a helicopter leaving the base just before we began to bomb the base." replied the soldier, as the sub fired another barrage of missiles at the base. "Good. I want nothing to happen to him. He is vital to this operation." finished the Primer.
Back inside the base, MacDagget was desperate to find a way out of the large chamber he was in, but the falling rubble from the ceiling above blocked his exit. He shielded his face as the heat from the flames began to reach his face. He looked around the searing flames and saw that a section of the wall across the room had caved in. MacDagget raved to the hole and quickly ran down its hall. At the end of the hall was a set of double doors. MacDagget pushed the doors out of his way and entered into the Antarctic climate. As the freezing cold hit MacDagget, he saw that he was in a loading station for a submarine pen. He also saw several submarine pens marked as "Emergency Evacuation" empty and that only one small vessel was left.
"Finally a way out." whispered MacDagget to himself, as he began to stagger in exhaustion to the submarine.
"Think again, MacDagget," said Merchant's voice behind him, as he felt a heavy blow come to his back. MacDagget fell to the ground in a heap, as Merchant stepped out in front of him, smiling and holding a steel suitcase. "Today is a good day. I built all this for world domination, but killing you seems to be the only thing that I will be able to accomplish first."
"I don't think so." coughed MacDagget, as he swept his legs and knocked Merchant on his back. MacDagget then quickly got to his feet and picked up a piece of metal tubing and began to hit Merchant with it. "Say hello to my team, who you slaughtered!" cried MacDagget, as he raised the pipe again to hit Merchant, but hit only the ice below. Merchant began to roll on the ground, dodging MacDagget's swings with the pipe. Merchant then got to his knees and punched MacDagget in the stomach, causing MacDagget to drop the piping and sending him flying against the wall. Merchant then got back to his feet and looked down at MacDagget with malice and laughed as MacDagget tried to get back to his feet.
"I don't know where you get your confidence from." he snickered, as he grabbed MacDagget by the shirt collar and punched him across the face, causing blood to pour from MacDagget's mouth. Merchant laughed out loud seeing this and commenced to attack again. But then, in a flash of an eye, MacDagget drew his revolver from his side holster and fired the six shots into Merchant's chest. Merchant staggered a little and fell to his knees, blood pouring out of his chest rapidly. Merchant took one final look at MacDagget and then fell face first in the snow.
Suddenly, another series of missiles hit the base, blasting more of the building away, and causing several blocks of metal and concrete to fall towards MacDagget. MacDagget quickly ran into the escape submarine and set sail out of the area. ______________________________________________
"Mikhail, you left my dad!" cried Shannon, as she beat her arms against the back of the pilot's seat in which Mikhail occupied.
"We had no choice. The base was being set to be attacked by the Initiative," answered Mikhail, as he guided the helicopter towards a cruiser that flew the flags of the United Initiative States of Russia.
"How did you know?"
"I am an agent for the Initiative and was ordered to lead them to this base to destroy it. This company destroyed my homeland and poisoned my people. I tried my best to evacuate MacDagget, but his foolish hatred of that Dr. Merchant clouded his better judgment." Mikhail stared straight ahead while saying this, never even trying to look Shannon in the eyes.
"Sir, we have arrived on shore safely," said the troop commander over his headset to the cruiser as the team got off of the helicopter. "Proceeding with search and destroy mission."
"Da, no prisoners, no survivors. Burn all samples of any bio-testing," ordered the voice over the commander's headset and with that, the team moved out.
As the team moved through the remains of the base, they found nothing of any importance to destroy. They came to a lab and found remains of a large bio-weapon left on the floor. Next to the remains, they found an empty Plasma Rifle. The team then began to move down the corridor and found several segments of the flooring missing, and also saw that the fallen flooring lead to a lower level of the base. Five of the team's ten men went down into the depths of the base and left the other five to continue searching the top half of the base.
It wasn't long before the team that continued to search above ground to hear automatic gunfire and their comrades screaming in agony.
"What was that, sir?" asked one of the soldiers to the commander.
"It sounded like it was coming from below," replied the commander, as he placed his hand over his ear to listen carefully to his communicator. "Come in Trotsky, report." ordered the commander over the communicator, but only got static in return. "Hurry!" yelled the commander, as he aimed his machine gun out in front of him and began to make his way to the lower levels.
Suddenly, one of the soldiers came running from the lower levels, screaming at the top of his lungs, his machine gun being drug behind him by the strap.
"Help! Run for your lives!" he cried as he reached the commander.
"What is it?" demanded the commander, as he grabbed the soldier by the shoulders. The soldier's uniform was torn in several places and blood soaked his hands. "Where are the others?"
"Their dead! We came across a body of a man that had been shot in the chest six times. When we approached it, the body got to its feet and began to attack us. We emptied out guns into the body, but it just kept coming. It wasn't human! It couldn't have been! I shot it in the head!"
"Alright, easy soldier, easy there. I'll radio in for reinforcements and then we'll take care of this supposed body," said the commander in a soothing tone. Just then, they heard the sound of the helicopter taking off.
When they reached the landing zone, they got to see the helicopter hovering above them, the lights shining on them. As the commander began to radio in that the helicopter had been stolen, the new pilot opened fire and killed the remaining Initiative soldiers and then took the helicopter out towards the ocean. ____________________________________________
On board the cruiser, Mikhail had just landed the helicopter and greeted himself to the soldiers onboard. He explained to the crew commander that Shannon and Rainsford were both working towards the same goal as the Initiative was.
"What was the girl doing at the base?" demanded the commanding officer, as Mikhail, Shannon, and Rainsford sat in his cabin.
"She had been taken captive by the owner of the facility. He had a vendetta with her father and took her as bait to draw him into what he thought would be a trap for him. This man accompanied her father to form a rescue."
"Alright. You people are welcome on board. What about her father and the owner of the facility? Where are they?"
"You killed him when you bombed the facility!" cried Shannon, as she began to try to hit the officer. The officer quickly grabbed the girl's fist and pushed her away.
"You seem not to understand something. We had no other choice. From reports of other facilities, there could have been hundreds of inactive bio-weapons, maybe thousands of them, inside of that base. All we could do was bomb the base and then send a team in to kill anything or anyone left alive in the rubble. No prisoners and no survivors are our orders, which I am breaking by allowing you two to live," said the commander, as he plopped down into a seat in the corner of the cabin. He then looked at Shannon again and saw the tears welling in her eyes. "Our radar picked up a small submarine leaving the base right after our bombing started. I sent another submarine out to find it and destroy it. I will have a communiqué to our submarine and order it to question the identity of the submarine we are pursuing. Right now, the submarine has been reported to be moving up the coast of South America on a route that seems to be going up into the Gulf of Mexico. If it's your father, we will have him brought back to you here."
"Thank you!" cried Shannon, as she began to cry and made her way to the commander to hug him. As she hugged the officer, he carefully patted Shannon on the back. He then pushed her away and picked up a phone next to his chair that connected him to the bridge. He gave the order to find Shannon's father. __________________________________________
Inside the stolen Initiative helicopter, Merchant felt strange. He knew that he should be dead with six shots to the chest. There was no way that MacDagget could have missed his heart. He then came to one conclusion; the Sigma Virus had worked on him. His modifications to the virus' protein structure had stopped him from mutating like the first Sigma Virus subject. He then began to work to find the radar signal from MacDagget's submarine. He then discovered that an Initiative submarine was following MacDagget.
"They will more than likely capture him and send him to safety." thought Merchant to himself, as he continued to look at the radar map at his disposal and saw that MacDagget was heading towards an island chain near the South American coast. He knew that MacDagget's vessel was unable to send radio messages or receive them. MacDagget was alone and without any form of contact with any form of help. Merchant's smile widened as the island chains came into view. __________________________________________
MacDagget's submarine was getting low on batteries. The radio equipment was all but useless and he was approaching an island. By the small radar detector onboard the submarine, he saw a high concentration of sonar activity coming from the center of the island. MacDagget decided to land on the island and see is the inhabitants could help him.
As he got off the submarine, he saw a high perimeter fence that had a sign posted on it that read "High Voltage! 20,000 Volts". MacDagget looked in surprise as he followed the fence to the point that it had a gate. At the gate stood two armed guards bearing "Cloverleaf Industries Security" on their shoulders and on their hats. Beyond the gates, MacDagget saw a large aged concrete sign that barely read:
"C OVE LE F I DUS RIE G NETI C RE EA CH AND TE TI G CEN ER". As MacDagget read the sign and looked back at the guards, he felt a barrel of a gun touch the back of his neck.
"Don't move!" ordered a voice behind him. "You're trespassing on Cloverleaf Industries property. Identify yourself!"
"I'm John MacDagget," replied MacDagget, as he held his arms above his head. "My ship needs recharging and I'd like to use a radio."
"I'll take you to the commander of the facility and he might help you with your problem. Now move inside." Replied the guard, as he led MacDagget into the facility. Inside the gates, MacDagget saw a whole city bustling with men, women, and children going into stores and children playing in the makeshift street. Past the small city, there were several homes with fences around them. From here, the electric fencing could not be seen though the foliage of the jungle around the area. At the center of the island was a large factory and military base in which several men dressed in lab coats and military fatigues moved back and forth. Ahead of the factory, on a large hill, a lone mansion, surrounded by a tall steel fence, sat.
"Who is the commander of this facility?" asked MacDagget, as he was led up the large hill towards the mansion.
"The commander is James Scollay. His sister is the head researcher of the facility. The commander is a genius along with his sister. They are highly decorated in the company," replied the guard, as they approached the main gate to the mansion. Two guards saluted the man accompanying MacDagget into the grounds and held their rifles at the ready as they entered the gates.
Inside the mansion, the main hall had a grand staircase that went upward to the second floor hallway. Across to the left of the staircase, MacDagget saw a long dinner table with lavish flowers and dishes laid out on it. At the end of the table, a lone man sat dressed in a white dress military uniform. At his side stood a large Eurasian man dressed in a black suit. The man at the table stood up as MacDagget and the guard entered the room.
"Sir, I'm sorry to bother you during your lunch, but this man has had some boat trouble and needs help." said the guard, as he saluted the man in the white uniform.
"Of course. Our company is happy to help in anyway possible. Your name is what?" Asked the commander, as he extended his arm to shake MacDagget's hand.
"John MacDagget." replied MacDagget, as he quickly shook the commander's hand.
"You say you have some boat trouble, but yet you did not use your onboard radio to call for help or issue an SOS. I find that highly irregular. This is a highly classified base. There is no way I can let you leave this island. Ever." Said the commander solemnly, as the guard that brought MacDagget, grabbed his shoulders and cuffed MacDagget's hands together.
"What are you doing?" demanded MacDagget, as he struggled to break loose from the guard's grip.
"As I said before, this is a highly classified enclosure. Guards, leave." ordered Scollay, as he grabbed MacDagget by the wrist and led him past the dining room into a nearby office. It was decorated on one wall by a huge portrait of Scollay holding a sword at his side and a beautiful woman standing at his side. Scollay pushed MacDagget into a seat that sat in front of his desk.
"You seemed to have fallen into something that has nothing to do with you. You may think that I don't know that Cloverleaf Industries went bankrupt over two years, but I do. The last radio transmission was for this island to evacuate and return to the mainland. I refused to leave. I had enough money to fund this institute for decades, to fund my sister's research. No one else on this island knows that Cloverleaf Industries no longer exists. As I understand, Travis Communications is out of business as well and only the parent company of Integrated Genetics is the only remaining element left of the company."
"Your running experiments on this island for bio-weaponry, aren't you?" asked MacDagget, as he looked at Scollay with malice in his eyes.
"No. Genetic experimentation is my sister's goal. She hates biological weapons and finds them to be too unpredictable. My sister wants to create a superior race. She is quite brilliant. I would do anything for her, Mr. MacDagget. Anything." said Scollay in a dazed tone, as he turned to look at the large portrait of him and his sister.
"What you're talking about is a form of eugenics, not genetics! What kind of person would want to do such a mad thing?"
"We would, Mr. MacDagget!" yelled Scollay, as he spun around at MacDagget. MacDagget jumped back in his chair to see the new look of hatred in Scollay's face. "Cloverleaf Industries refused to fund our research and demanded that we continue into the field of bio-weaponry, but secretly, my sister began to study on how to create the perfect society. The company was planning on sending their special taskforce to take the facility away from me, but luckily, the company went under before any plans could be made. Now, everyone on this base works solely for my sister, thinking that they still work for Cloverleaf Industries and me. I destroyed the radio equipment to stop anyone from reaching the outside world. You are the only other person alive that knows my secret, well, that has a choice of what will happen to him."
"What do you mean?"
"From the look of your uniform, I take that you worked with the Federal Police Department. From your accent, I take that you are from my homeland of Ireland. You could prove useful to me. I want you to join my sister and me. We could rule these simple people on the island for ages. I might even let you have my sister as a bride. She would certainly love you," said Scollay, as he pulled a small medal bearing a coat of arms surrounded by encircling eyes. "This," explained Scollay, as he handed the medal to MacDagget. "This is my family's crest. Only a true Scollay may bear this. You could become a member of one of the world's first and finest families. You could be a king."
"If I refuse?" asked MacDagget, unimpressed with Scollay's proposal.
"Then you become a new member of the secondary use of this facility before Cloverleaf Industries went out of business. You would be imprisoned for the rest of your days in the deepest and darkest cell on the island. Every so often you would be taken out to one of my special chambers for those who fail to conform to my command. I would hate to do that to a fellow countryman."
"I'd rather die than work alongside anyone who would kill just because someone said no."
"Fine. Guards! Take him to Cell Block B!" yelled Scollay, as he got up from his desk and kicked MacDagget's chair over. The guards came in quickly, guns pointed at MacDagget, aimed all over his body with laser sites. As MacDagget was being dragged away, he saw Scollay turn around and continue to stare at the large portrait of him and his sister.

"Comrade Nicholas, we have found landing zone of MacDagget's vessel. Our ships and subs cannot land in the area because of a tropical storm moving in on the region. If you and his daughter and this other man wish to go and search for him yourselves with the helicopter that you took from the base, you are free to go, but the Initiative will not back you or send any form of rescue teams until twenty-four hours after the storm has passed." said the commander of the cruiser, as Shannon, Mikhail, and Rainsford exited from the main deck. The commander then gave Mikhail the coordinates, and Mikhail nodded his head and quickly grabbed Shannon by the arm and Rainsford quickly followed behind. They all entered the Integrated Genetics helicopter and took off for the island in which MacDagget landed at. "Do you think he'll be alright?" asked Shannon, as Mikhail guided the helicopter towards where MacDagget's ship landed.
"I'm very positive of it. We'll find him and then I'll drop you and your father back off in Ireland and I'll drop Rainsford off at the Federal Police Department Building in Glasgow, Scotland. I have to report back to my homeland and give my full analysis of the Integrated Genetics Corporation's facility."
Shannon smiled as she heard this and gently began to drift off to sleep. Rainsford looked out of the window of the helicopter and watched the water below him pass by quickly.
Deep inside the destroyed Integrated Genetics facility, the few remains of the Sigma began liquefy and slide towards other parts of the Sigma and began to form a massive, bulging, ameba-like creature with bits of teeth, claws, and cloth stuck in it's formation. The creature slowly began to slide into the corridor of the smoldering remnants of the building towards one of the only rooms left fully intact marked as "Storage for Cloverleaf Industries Viral Studies". The Sigma's new form easily oozed through the small cracks of the heavy-duty door.
Inside the room, nothing was disturbed. All the viral containers were bolted to the floor and the lab tables were connected to the three inches of reinforced steel walls. The Sigma slid across the floor towards the rows of large metal barrels. As the Sigma crawled to the top of one of the barrels, it saw that several body parts of failed bio-experiments were placed inside the barrel. The Sigma tried to ooze into the barrel, but the airtight container stopped it from entering the barrel. It then raised its body into the air and began to pound onto the glass surface of the barrel. As a crack came to the glass, the Sigma's liquid form was sucked into the barrel and the Sigma began to assimilate the body parts inside of the barrel.
Inside Cell Block B, MacDagget had been stripped of the Federal Police uniform that he had gotten from Rainsford and had been given a more familiar piece of clothing, a prisoner's jumpsuit. MacDagget was alone in the dimly lit corridor of the cellblock. As he sat in his cell, he could hear the sound of a river flowing above his head. He then heard the sound of a door opening down the corridor and the sounds of people coming towards his cell. As MacDagget stood up, he saw two guards escorting a female scientist towards MacDagget's cell. MacDagget recognized her as Scollay's sister from the large portrait in the dining hall of the mansion.
"Why are you people doing this!" demanded MacDagget, as she approached the cell. She nodded to one of the guards, who quickly pulled a stun baton from his side pack and began to shock MacDagget with it.
"How dare you speak to me in that tone of voice!" replied Scollay's sister, as she motioned for the guard to stop shocking MacDagget. MacDagget stared up at her with hatred, as he held his chest with his hand. "Now, if you can address me with a civil tone, then we may be able to communicate."
"I must apologize for my rudeness to you, I am not used to being in the presence of such a wondrous woman of statue." said MacDagget, all the while hating himself for hearing what he was saying.
"You find yourself in a situation that is beyond your comprehension. Undoubtedly you met my brother, James Scollay, a simple creature if there ever was one. Thinks that he has been protecting me by doing what I ask. Thinks I shall reward him later for his service as a soldier, but he won't" said Scollay's sister.
"Yes. I understand completely now."
"He thinks I plan to create the ultimate race of humans and command them all myself, with him ruling at my side. The fool. Just because we are of the same blood doesn't merit him to be a ruler with me. I am Elizabeth Scollay!" she laughed, as she pulled a gun from one of the guards’ holsters and aimed it at MacDagget. "He wants you to play a little game that he has devised for all who have stumbled onto this island. I myself also enjoy watching those poor fools who take part in it shriek in agony. The blood, the broken bone, it is delicious."
"What kind of people are you!" demanded MacDagget, forgetting his false manners in front of Elizabeth.
"Guard! Stun him again!" ordered Elizabeth, as she stared at MacDagget with utter malice, almost like the malice that flashed in Merchant's eyes whenever MacDagget looked at him.
As the guard went for his baton again, the entire facility began to shake. Explosion rang out from all above the group in the cellblock. Elizabeth and the guards ran out of the cellblock, leaving MacDagget in the corridor alone, locked in his cell.
After several minutes of gunfire and explosions, the few lights that illuminated the cellblock went dark. MacDagget was now alone in the dark. As MacDagget sat in the dark, he heard the cellblock door open again, and he saw the light from a small flashlight shine in the darkness of the cellblock. The figure holding the light limped slowly to the door to MacDagget's cell and shinned the light into the cell. MacDagget quickly slid back to the wall as the door opened and a guard of the facility stepped in. He was holding his shoulder with one hand and with the other he pointed his flashlight at MacDagget. MacDagget noticed that the guard didn't have a stun baton or a gun in his holsters.
"You're the only prisoner left alive on this island. I don't know what happened, it could have been a Special Forces team, but anyway the base has been overrun and all the troops have been wiped out…" mumbled the guard, as he opened MacDagget's cell door and let him out.
"What are you saying?" asked MacDagget, as he walked out of the cell.
"Your free to leave the complex, but you might as well know that you can't possibly get off of this island alive."
"What you? What are you going to do?" asked MacDagget, as he saw the bullet wound on the guard's shoulder.
"Don't worry about me. I'll hold up here and wait for the Cloverleaf Industries reinforcements that Commander Scollay has radioed for."
MacDagget shook his head and thought hard over breaking the news to the injured guard.
"Cloverleaf Industries went under about two years ago. The only two remnants of it left are Integrated Genetics and this island facility."
"You lie!" yelled the guard, as he lunged towards MacDagget, but fell to the ground with a soft thud.
"Think what you wish, but Cloverleaf Industries is finished."
"But my family? What has happened to them since I have been here? The company promised that they would look after them. Some guards’ families were sent here to live. Please, tell the remaining guards to get their families to the shuttle pad."
"What shuttle?"
"The shuttle to the Cloverleaf Industries Space Station. Right now it should be passing on the dark side of the moon. People have been using the shuttles for the last couple of minutes escaping from the island. I know I should be telling you this, but if what you say is true, and the company is gone, then there isn't anything left for us to hide, now that this island has been discovered."
Suddenly, another explosion blew a hole in the ceiling above them and caused the river to begin to flood the room. MacDagget quickly grabbed the guard by the shoulder and began to drag him to the door. The water rushed over MacDagget and the guard, spilling them into the exterior of the cellblock to an elevator shaft. MacDagget quickly entered the elevator with the guard still clinging to him.
As the elevator reached the surface, MacDagget could see fires billowing and hear the sound of helicopter propellers roaring in the air. All around him, he saw the bodies of fallen guards and soldiers bearing the Cloverleaf Industries insignia on their shoulders. In front of him, MacDagget saw that the mansion that Scollay was in had been nearly destroyed. Debris and machine gun bullets had riddled the research center. Flames scorched the earth and the makeshift street that ran through the now desolate town. Bodies of small children and women were in the street. The guard wept as MacDagget helped him down the street.
"I think they are all dead." whispered MacDagget to the guard, as he looked at all the bodies and only saw the movement of blood draining from their bodies. One mother had been torn in half by machine gun fire protecting her child. The child had its head near broken off.
"How could this have happened?" asked the guard, as he looked at MacDagget. "We kept it secret for so many years and then you come and this happens."
"Because he told our position to his supervisors!" yelled a voice from a balcony of a guard tower. Suddenly machine gun fire began to blaze towards MacDagget and the guard. MacDagget had no choice other than to jump behind a fallen piece of rubble from a nearby store to keep from being shot and left the guard in the open.
"Help me!" cried the guard, as he slowly began to drag himself to where MacDagget now lay hidden.
"Traitor!" yelled the voice again, booming through out the now darkened sky of the South American coastline. The guard's body was then torn to shreds by machine gun fire.
"No!" cried MacDagget, as he hit his fist to the dirt and slowly began to try and look up at the guard tower and see who was firing at him.
"MacDagget! You let yourself be captured so you could lead your people to this base!" yelled the voice again, and was followed again by a barrage of gunfire towards the area that MacDagget hid in.
"What are you talking about?"
"You don't fool me! I am Commander James Scollay! My family is one of the world's first and finest!"
"You are insane! You had to have been one of Cloverleaf Industries' lower level officers to have been placed in charge of such a backwater base as this one!" answered MacDagget, gruffly, as he struggled to see if there was a way inside the store near him without Scollay seeing him.
"How dare you! Because of you, my base has been destroyed! My sister's research and dreams have been shattered by you insolent need to destroy that which you don't fully understand!"
"For the last time, I didn't tell anyone! How could I? Your mean searched me and took my guns that I brought with my uniform and me! I have nothing to radio to anyone and you yourself destroyed your radio equipment on this island! The only way in and out of this island is by accident or by the space shuttle that you have had constructed to go to the Cloverleaf Industries Space Station. I am sure Cloverleaf Industries didn't have that in their list of ownerships when they folded under. The power source is possibly nuclear or maybe even plasma. Tell me, Scollay, did you think your sister was going to let you rule along side her?"
"Shut up!" yelled Scollay, as he fired yet another round of ammunition at MacDagget's position, this time emptying the entire gun. MacDagget heard the soft click of an empty gun and quickly got up and began to run towards the mansion. Scollay watched MacDagget with a smile and pulled a remote control from his uniform and began to press buttons on it.
Deep below the mansion, several large coolant stations began to shut down and a large capsule began to slowly open. A man draped in ice sickles began to creep out of the capsule. Droplets of water began to fall off of the man as he came to a large elevator marked as "Express". The man had black eyes and it's arms were a series of claws and thorns. The small bit of clothing that it wore born the writing of "Property of Cloverleaf Industries: Share of Integrated Genetics Corporation". The man had no mouth whatsoever.
In his helicopter, Merchant laughed as he began to fire more missiles at the now deserted buildings. He was full of glee all the while he gunned down the soldiers that ran to attack him. Once he had ridded himself of the soldiers, he quickly picked off the pitiful people of the small town inside. Unfortunately, MacDagget was not among the dead, and by his scanners, only three beings remained alive on the island, and one of them was deep below the large mansion in the center of the island. MacDagget had to be one of the last survivors. He couldn't have been on the shuttle his radar picked up leaving.
As Merchant contemplated on where MacDagget was while hovering near the courtyard of the mansion, he did not notice the bad weather approaching from behind him. Suddenly, Merchant's helicopter began to swerve out of control. Merchant frantically began to press buttons on the control panel of the helicopter to try and stabilize the helicopter. Merchant had enough time to look up and see the wall of the mansion before the helicopter exploded.
On the ground, MacDagget struggled against the sudden high winds and rain that began to attack the island relentlessly. As he fought to hold his ground, he saw a helicopter bearing the flag of the Initiative Army quickly spinning in the air beside the wall of the mansion.
"Hey! Help!" cried MacDagget, as he tried to wave at the helicopter, but it was then that the helicopter crashed into the wall. "No!" yelled MacDagget, as the flames consumed the helicopter. He saw the propeller continue to fly in the air and be taken away by the wind towards the ocean. He slowly began to continue to make his way to the mansion, struggling to make it past the grueling winds. As he reached the main door to the mansion, he could feel the heat from the fire from the fallen helicopter. He saluted towards the wreckage and then made his way into the mansion.
Inside, it was completely different than when he had first seen it. The fine paintings and vases had been taken from the halls and one of the doors had been taken off of the hinges to reveal a large room that had several safes inside, each that had been ransacked. Above him, the helicopter wreckage had broken through to the second story balcony, completely blocking off the stairway. The dining room had had all of its fine china and silver taken.
When MacDagget entered the office of Scollay, he found that the large portrait of him and his sister had been slashed and that a doorway was located behind it. As MacDagget began to make his way to it, he heard heavy footsteps approaching from behind him. Before MacDagget had a chance to turn around, he was hit in the back by what felt like a ball of spikes. He could feel the spikes stick him in the back. MacDagget hit the floor with a soft thud.
MacDagget had a brief chance to see the frozen body of the creature from the capsule begin to try and hammer him again with its massive fists. He quickly rolled out of the way of the blows as the creature relentlessly tried to kill MacDagget. MacDagget had to roll under the desk to keep the creature from hitting him several times. Splinters of wood from the desk began to pile onto the floor, as the creature began to chop the desk to bits.
Suddenly, a tall, burning figure entered the doorframe of the office and began to lurch over to where the creature was attacking the desk. MacDagget could see that the figure had on a flaming white jacket and legs where wrapped in a mixture of cloth and rubble from the side of the mansion.
"MacDagget!' coughed the figure, as it grabbed the creature and tossed it into the hall way. "He is mine!"
MacDagget came from out from under the desk and saw that it was Merchant, still alive, and filled with rage, as he saw Merchant attack the creature with a series of punches and kicks. While Merchant fought with the creature, MacDagget decided to enter the door behind the desk and see where it led. Behind the door, MacDagget found an enormous hallway leading towards hundreds of hatches marked from "shuttle port 001" to "shuttle port 020". At the end of the corridor, a large chamber marked as "emergency evacuation elevator" gave a dim red glow to the corridor.
As MacDagget walked past each of the shuttle ports, he found that only three remained. He also found a lever that activated the emergency weaponry hold. As MacDagget pulled the lever, he heard the sound of a gun cocking.
"Hold it right there!" ordered a voice behind MacDagget. "Turn around! Slowly!"
When MacDagget turned around, he saw Mikhail, Rainsford and Shannon standing there.
"Dad!" Cried Shannon, as she ran to hug her father. Tears rolled down her eyes, as MacDagget soothingly rubbed Shannon on the back.
"Alright, I say we get out of here, now,” said Mikhail, as he aimed his pistol down to the ground and began to look into the shuttle ports.
"How did you find me?"
"The Initiative tracked the sub's signal to this island. When Shannon, Rainsford, and I arrived, the entire island was in shambles, some fool was flying in the air and attacking everything, and in that process, destroyed our helicopter." said Mikhail, as he found the three remaining shuttles. "It looks like these things can hold up to six people. Everyone get in."
