It had appeared that they were not the only ones to come to the same idea of getting to the armory. Lydia did as she was instructed, stepping into the armory and scanning the corners, floor and roof with her rifle ready, looking for something that would have been the cause of the blood stains on floor. Whatever had happened here, it had been recently. She wasn't sure if whatever was dead had stayed that way, or if it had brought friends. They were going to find out very quickly.

Jason found he could close the door, and checked the sectors, before looking up. no-one looked up. that's why it was such a good ambush position.
and as he thought, several lickers were up there.
"Contact High!" he shouted, bringing his saiga up to blast the first one, and the second.

Lydia's blood ran cold as she saw what the man was firing at. Oh s***, it was the stage threes. How did these things get out, and what were they doing in the RPD building? She was still pondering these questions as she brought up her rifle and fired at the third one she had seen, semi-automatic fire ripping into it's skull as it fell and flopped on the ground. Just like the infected they saw in the hall, a headshot was the only way to really put them down quickly and effectively. While she had never engaged one, she had seen the videos, and knew what to do.
"Aim for the head! Just like the others! Body shots don't do jack!"

Jason was about to retort when he saw in his peripheral vision a licker flying towards him. he dropped his saiga, rolled with the BOW, and stuck his knife into its heart, killing it. shoving it off, he quickly dispatched another with a headshot from his pistol, and the room was clear.
"Tip, headshots work wonders, but remember, a knife to their exposed heart on the under-side also kills them."

"We never saw anyone crazy enough to get close to one before. But I'll keep that in mind."
Lydia checked her magazine. Almost empty. She ejected it and tucked it away in her belt, saving what was left for later. She'd rather change out a half empty one than run out in the middle of a fight. As she loaded the fresh magazine she looked back out the door, making sure nothing else was coming to investigate the sound of gunfire.
"I hope there's not just blanks in here too, or we are going to be in serious trouble."

"look around, call out what you find."
they both started looking around. after a bit Jason found several ammunition boxes not filled with blanks. "okay, found some .45 acp, some 12 gauge and 2 boxes of 5.56. also found chem-lights and flares, should come in handy."

Lydia gave wide berth to the dead, but still twitching bodies of the Lickers as she made her way through the boxes of ammunition.
"Blanks. Blanks. Blanks. Wait, damn more blanks."
She knocked the boxes of useless ammunition off the table and then continued through, checking to see what else was there.
"Oh, hell yes. Remington M870. Police issue."
She racked the pump, the empty chamber making a loud clacking noise as she did so. With it she found a spare box of shells, and two small boxes of 9mm ammunition. Perfect for her pistol, and she close use the 5.56 rounds to reload the empty and half empty magazines she had for her rifle.
"Alright, spend ten reloading and resting, then keep moving? If we're lucky we can find a working car around here, be faster than moving on foot that's for sure."

"Sure, but expect to have to walk a lot regardless."
10 minutes passed and they were loaded for bear and ready to go.

"Alright, let's see how our friends were doing back there. Think any of them made it out of the lobby?"
Lydia leaned partially out of the door, not seeing anything waiting to attack them, nothing wandering the halls looking for a meal. She was confused to say the least. They had been making enough noise to...well, literally wake the dead. Something should have been coming to investigate the gunfire and noise, undead or not.
"Let's get down to the garage. Back the way we came right?"

"sure, why not." Jason wasn't too fussed. the girl was competent. she wasn't as skilled as him but she survived where his team did not. things were like that sometimes. they made their way down to the underground garage, being as silent as possible to avoid alerting any BOWs to their presence.

As they made their way through the building, Lydia couldn't get that feeling between her shoulder blades to go away. She got that feeling every time she thought she was being watched. The building was empty and creepy, the Russians had either evacuated the building or had moved deeper in. She wasn't sure if that was a comforting feeling or not. She had shouldered her rifle, and had the shotgun in her hand, knowing it was better suited for the close-quarters fighting they found themselves in.
"Okay, where did they go? Not even a shell casing here, so they weren't attacked. Maybe they went down to get the vehicles as well?"
Her answer came when they made it to the garage entrance. Through the blood-spattered glass separating the rest of the building from the vehicle bay, she could see where the infected had gotten in. Someone had left the door open, and what looked like dozens of people had been simply torn apart and eaten alive. She could see some of them, now turned, trying to drag what remained of themselves around the garage almost aimlessly.
"Oh f**k. This isn't good."

"...well...at least the vehicles are still here."
he looked around and found the key rack. quickly browsing, he looked at the vehicles, grinned, and took the Riot APC keys. "ready to get out in style?" he said, dangling the keys towards Lydia.

Lydia grinned as she saw which keys the man grabbed. He certainly knew how to ride in style. The important part was getting to it from where they were. While most of the infected had moved on, there were still more than likely a few of the more ambulatory ones still roaming the garage. They were armed, but she still didn't like the idea of walking into the lion's den.
"Alright, can you see the vehicle from here? You head for the driver's door, get the rest unlocked and I'll keep them off us. Don't waste time or ammunition on the crawlers. They're not going to be able to each us before we get moving."

the moved. Jasons saiga spoke whenever something got in their way, the rest was dealt with by Lydia.
they quickly got to the apc, Jason swiftly unlocked the armoured vehicle, got in and turned it on, "All aboard the train is about to leave!"

Lydia got into the passenger seat, securing the door as she saw a few of the infected coming down into the garage. Evidently the sounds of gunfire and activity drew them from outside. Now that they were safe in the vehicle they really didn't have much to worry about anything getting in to eat them.
"Alright, where to from here? I'm not as familiar with the cities layout as I would like to be."
That was sadly the case. While she spent many free weekends in the Arklay Mountains, she didn't spend a lot of time in the city itself. Even the area around her apartment was barely memorable. She should have looked over the maps better, and was kicking herself for not learning the lay of the land.
"Let's run a few of them down. It will make me feel better."
