Katie looked at the thick window, and then pulled out her handgun. This was something she had done a few time, and it worked nine times out of ten. Pointing it toward the glass on an angle, she pulled the trigger after covering her face. The window cracked outward from the gunshot hole, but it didnt break. It was built to last, and it would take a little more force.
"Damn... Looks like this is gonna be a bit harder then I expected..." Katie looked back at the crane, and then wondered if they could use a crate to smash the window out. It was worth a try, and its not like they had any other ideas. "Jake, your good with the crane, right? Do you think it would be possible to talk out the window with it? It might work..."

Jake looked back at the crane and tilted his head, contemplating on whther or not the crates would be able to shatter the thick casing. It was certainly worth the shot. He looked back at Katie and then back at the crane again.
"Well, I could try, but you gotta get outta the way so, get your ass upto the roof ofthe crane again. Hold on tight or else you'll go flyin' off, kiddo," he told her, making his way backto the crane. As soon as he was sure Katie was good to go, he began operating the crane. Glancing back at the crate ahead, he pulled on another lever and managed to pick up the crate.
Once he had a good grip on it, he pulled another lever back and then pushed it forward, sending the crate swaying back and the forward, crashing through the window. Unfortunately, that created a blaring siren. Jake immediately held his ears and winced.
"f**k! Owwww..." he grumbled.

Katie inched over to the window, and saw the crane start to drop the line down outside. Hearing the crate smash down below on the ground, she looked back at Jake. "...I think if you lowered the chain, we could use it to climb down..." Katie knew this was all just suddonly happening, but it looked like it was the only way down anyways.
Grabbing onto the chain, she lowered herself down, and then held onto it with both hands and feet tightly. As she heard the crane move again, Katie was lowered down toward the ground, repelling with her legs at the same time. Landing safely, she looked up, and then yelled to the third story. "Alright! I dont think youll have any problems doing this..."

Jake followed suit, muttering a few things under his breath as he climbed down the chain. Getting back onto the ground, he rubbed his sore shoulders, moving it around in it's socket as he walked along. Oddly enough they were back outside. Not really what he'd intended but it was better than nothing.
As the two sat down to catch a rest, something came scuttling across the outerwalls, an eerie gasp escaping from the lipless mouth of some pale, pink, creature that lacked flesh and eyes. Jake and Katie hadn't heard it, however, it wasn't quite close enough yet.
The man groaned and shuffled through his first aid pack attatched to his backside and pulled out some disinfectant wipes and some bandages. He'd gone straight to work on the nasty cuts on his arm he'd recieved from that reptile thing and the leech monsters from before. As he tightly tied a knot into it, they'd yet to have noticed their unwanted guest approaching, the clacking of it's talons against brick seemed to echoe and mix with the howling of the wind.
"I got a bottle of water. Want some?" he asked Katie.

Katie walked away from the building, but then turned back to look at the thing from a few meters away. It was a very large building, with more then likely plenty of more secrets for them to find out about inside, but they were something that would have to be discovered by others. Even a freelance photo-journalist knows when to quit while theyre ahead.
Grabbing the bottle of water from Jake, Katie unscrewed the cap, and then took a gulp from it. About to put the cap back on, she decided to take another gulp, this had been a the first time she had water since entering the city. Leaving Jake half the bottle, she passed it back, and then nodded. "Thanks a lot, that was something my throat needed..."
Jake was about to take a sip, but then Katie quickly backed away, pulling out her gun and firing a round toward the corner of the building. Keeping her sights trained toward the wall, she waited for the thing to show itself again. "I... I think saw something!"

Jake screwed the cap on the bottle tightly as he crammed it into his hip pouch again. He was thirsty, hungry and tired. He really didn't feel like dealing with another monster. He narrowed his eyes and whipped his shotgun out, reaching into his ammo pouch to find only two rounds remaining. Frasping them tightly, he sighed.
"Gotta make em count," he murmurred, loading his shotgun. Upon cocking it, he carefuly took aim and put his hand out infront of Katie.
"I'll go check it out. Stay right here. If you see anything, send off a round," he told her.

Katie nodded, dang right she would let off a few rounds if she saw anything. She wasnt afraid of using up ammo, there was more magazines in her car. Thats where they needed to get to, for more reasons then one. Her camera battery was low, and she needed to change it. Plus it was probably getting full, too, so uploading the photos onto her laptop would be a good idea. She would worry about the editing when they had less to worry about, but she needed her camera at all costs. Escaping this city wouldnt be at all worth it unless she had the recordings, it would be completely meaningless to leave without it all. This may come out idiotic to everyone, but to her, it meant more to her life then life.
But she was getting sidetracked, and needed to focus on her surroundings. Katie aimed the .45 around the area, covering Jake until he was out of view, and then going off to the streets. She wouldnt go too far without him, but it would be worth getting to the streets. It would be safer, and easier to manuver around the undead in the open then in a cramped allyway. But by the time Jake was out of sight, Katie heard the sound of the creature behind him. Screaming at the top of her lungs, she flung herself around, and began to fire shots off toward any signs of movement. "No! Jake, help me!"

Jake had wandered around the corner when he heard Katie's cries for help. Gritting his teeth sharply together he spun around and came running back. Upon returning, he saw the ugliest thing he'd seen since the outbreak had begun...
He was stunned momentarily, staring intently at it in awe. That's when it lashed it's tongue out at the woman below in an attempt to grab her. Quickly coming to, Jake rammed his body into Katie's sending her flying back and the tongue whipping into the brick wall infront of them, tearing off pieces of the bricks.
Jake had fell hard on his shoulder, dislocating it. He winced and gritted his teeth, staring back at the creature with the exposed brain and lack of skin. It hissed and screeched, flying off at the man. Jake, rolled outof the way, keeping his hand on his injured arm.
When it missed, it immediately latched onto the brick wall and lunged at the two again, claws pulled back in the air in an attempt to strike. Jake kicked his legs forward, pushing Katie away again and bipedaling to the other side.
"KATIE! USE MY SHOTGUN!" he ordered, jerking his head in it's general direction where it lied. The monster hadn't given up yet. It was crawling along the walls with it's tongue curling out and it's mouth hanging open. Saliva slipped down it's jagged, sharp teeth and tongue as it abruptly lashed out at the man.

Katie fell to the ground after being pushed out the way by Jake, watching the creature just dive in front of her. After another attempt, Jake then pushed her away once again, her reaction time was very much slowed down by the shock of seeing the creature. She had seen one before, but not up this close, and alive. Shaking on the ground, she backed away from the thing as it crawled toward Jake. But then his call to her sent he back into reality, as she pointed his .45 toward the thing, and fired to get its attention.
"Over here!" Hitting it in the back didnt seem to have much effect, even with the heavy .45 rounds. But he turned his body away from the injured Jake, and then made its away toward Katie. Rolling over onto her stomach, he reached for the shotgun, and then brought it up as she lay on her back with the barrel facing it. As it dove toward her, Katie pumped a shell into his face, and then screamed as the impact of the shotgun kicked her onto her back.
By the time she got to her feet, she pumped the shotgun, and then aimed it toward the beast laying on the ground. She never fired a shotgun before, but she used her shoulder as a rest this time instead of just pointing it. Walking toward the feind with shaky hands, she tried to hold the gun steady, but it wasnt as easy with her fear starting to take over. The monster jumped onto his feet, as Katie gasped, pretty much knocking the shotgun from her arms, but there was a quick succession of gunshots following from the right...
[ Enter: Amanda Knowlins, 21 years old]
"Shoot it, lady!" After putting her handgun away, Amanda quickly grabbed the shotgun from Katie, and then fired the last shell into the creatures head, blowing its brain into pieces and shreds on the ground.

Jake shut his eyes as blood splurted onto his face and chest from the monster's body as it's head was blown off. Wiping at his face with his good arm, he grunted and pushed himself up into a sitting position.
"Well that went smoothly," he said quietly, grasping onto his dislocaed arm. Looking over at the two women before him, he raised an eyebrow.
"Nice work, ladies," he complimented dryly. He didn't mean to come off sarcastic, but ya know, he was injured and tired. Not to mention he was drenched in monster guts.
That's when his mind registered the fact that there was another person there. Katie and him woulda been toast if she didn't appear on time. Looking back at the younger woman he gave her a lop-sided grin and nodded.
"Hey there, newcomer, what brings you to Raccoon Mother f**kin' City?"

Amanda handed the shotgun over to the man who spoke to her, and then responded with a quick answer. "Im- Looking for someone..." Amanda turned to Katie, and then spoke out in a more annoyed tone. "...Try not to slip up again, your lucky I happened to be around." She unclipped the magazine from her handgun, and then replaced the few bullets from her pocket into the slot, and then inserted it back into the gun. As she pulled the slide back, Amanda changed her voice to both of them
"I know im a little young to be out her by myself, I really thought the outbreak wouldnt have come over the city this quickly. I ran away before I got in over my head, England is just as bad as here now, the whole eastern side, actually. I wouldnt even try going back there... Oh, my names Amanda, by the way. And you two?"
Katie listened the girl. She really didnt look much older then twenty years old, how she managed to survive this long on her own was a mystery, but it didnt feel right for her to be asking that sort of thing right now. "Im Katie, freelance photojournalist."

Jake glared at the younger woman, getting to his feet and holding onto the shotgun in his good arm. She was a bit rude toward Katie. Usually he wouldn't give a damn, but right now wasn't the time to be that way.
"I'm Jake. Former factory worker, ex-marine. Since we're bein' so formal as of now. Not like what we did matters anymore anyway..."he trailed off, grasping onto his wounded arm. He slung the shotgun over his back and started applying some pressure onto his arm.
With a rough twist and pop, his shoulder was back in the socket, but man did it hurt! He clenched his teeth tightly together as he rubbed at his sore joints. Rolling his arm around in it's socket, he started heading for the exit of the alley.
"Now if you girlies don't mind, I'd like to get far away from this dump. You can tell us all about your story in the mean time," he said to Amanda, gesturing for the two to follow suit.

The man who popped his shoulder back into place looked to be a tough one, the worst thing Amanda had to do was bandage up a cut on her leg. As she nodded, all three of them moved away from the area, and back toward the streets. Amanda looked at Jake, she could figure out he knew what he was doing here in the city, and would be suitable enough to get them out of danger. But as for the girl Katie, she couldnt even fire off a gun when the target was right in front of her. Amanda had seen the .45 in her pocket, but had some doubts if she knew how to use it or not.
Katie looked at the girl, how did a young person like herself know how to fire off that shotgun like a professional? She didnt look to have just as much firearms expirience as herself, which was not much more then self defence. But the question wasnt where you came from, its where your going. "So Amanda, where are you going now? I mean, your welcome to stay with us, things are always smoother in a group. But, do you have anyone left in Raccoon City?"
Amanda paused, not thinking too much about it at the time. But when she did think about it, there was one thing, and one thing only she was in Raccoon City for. She was a survivor or the 1998 incedent, she was just a young child at the time of the first outbreak. This is also where her gun hardened skills developed, years of using them just came naturally in time. But it wasnt the guns that saved her, the only reason she made it this far because she could count on one person. "Im looking for..."
Katie listened intently and patiently to Amanda speak, and quickly became more attached to her. She was still so young, they couldnt leave her alone, it wouldnt even be the moral thing to do in this kind of a situation. She was definitly going to stick with Jake and her, for as long as they could, anyway. But Katie got a little emotional when the girl paused, whoever she was looking for was probably not alive anymore. The streets were just up ahead, Katie wasnt going to make Amanda finish her sentence, the important thing to do is keep a possitive attitude.
