When the outbreak took over the town, this section had the bridge completely blocked off by the military, and nobody could get through without being tested for the virus. But as of now, the place is just a war zone of the infected, and the military efforts to secure the town had failed beyond any amount control. Tents are setup inside this large fenced off area, along with traffic that blocks of the bridge leading out of town. Anybody looking to pass by this area has to do so on foot, but it might be a great opportunity to grab some medical supplies from the tents.

[From the Sheriff's Station]
(ooc - Argh I hate it when you post and the internet connection dies and you lose it)
Lilly sped up, heading, not towards the little girl but towards the Quarantine Zone. Bile rose up in her throat when she realized that she would have to leave her behind for... even for a little while. She had almost considered defying the older mans order but the little girl had already started to climb back up onto the roof and that worm creature had torn up the road enough that she couldn't circle around it. And the longer she had waited there, the more undead that were trying to surround the car.
So she had left, with the two males, one obviously the dad and injured and the son. They were headed back to the Quarantine Zone to find a better ride.
It would take longer because the bridge was blocked, sealing in the town, but Lilly had known how to get there. Just before the bridge, she turned down the Valley Trail. It would take longer, but it would be the safest way to get to the Quarantine Zone. As her cruiser bounced down the dirt trail, she slowed and looked in the rear view mirror at her two new companions.
"I'm Lilly, an LAPD Dectective. What are your names?" Lilly asked as she pulled into the Quarantine Zone. She slowed the car to a stop right in front of an ambulance. It seemed to be in working or... to Lilly that meant not beat to hell. She put the cruiser in park and turned it off. "Let's check it out", she said, pulled her AR-15 from its cradle. She stepped out of the car, looking around... swining her rifle in every direction. Then she crept to the Ambulance and looked in.
There was a bloody handprint on the window, but Lilly realized it was from the outside, not the inside. The keys sat in the ignition, but the vehicle was off. She slowly made her way to the back. Poking the business end of the rifle into the opening. Then she peered in.
It was empty, but has been trashed. The stretcher was out on the curb, twisted to almost beyond recognition. Blood covered it. Most of the drawers had been opened but some of the supplies still remained. The side door leading out was also open.
Lilly could just visualize what happened. The paramedics were helping an infected being and it turned on them. They slammed on the brakes and fled the vehicle. The zombie eventually go free by smashing the stretch and trashed the ambulance and then wandered off, pulling part of the stretcher with it.
She leaned back to wave the two men out. "It's all clear for now. So... what is the plan?"

Not hearing an answer, Lilly jumped out of the back of the ambulance and looked around the door.
"I said, what is the pl..."
There was noone there. Both men had disappeared. She had thought them right behind her, but she was wrong. Bringing up her AR-15 to her shoulder and sighting down it, she made her way around the ambulance to her cruiser. Her things were still there, but neither man was there. Maybe they are gathering supplies as well, she thought, looking back at the ambulance. Which is what I should be doing.
She went to the rear of her cruiser and popped it open. Then she went to the ambulance and began to gather all the medical supplies that she could find and tossing them into her trunk. She had just finished stashing all the medicines that she could find when she heard footsteps crunching outside.
"You back?" She leaned her head out of the rear of the ambulance... and nearly got it bitten off by a zombie. Reflexes kicked in and she launched herself backwards to the back wall. A zombie, began to crawl into the ambulance. Without a second thought, Lilly sighted down the barrel of her rifle and fired a round into the its head. It fell to the floor without another sound.
Even though it was dead Lilly didn't want to step over it. Instead she exited by the door on the left and carefully made her way around the ambulance to her cruiser. She quickly shut the trunk and then looked around. The two guys were around and she couldn't spend all day here looking for them. She got back into her car and picked up one of the radios that the younger boy had left in the car.
"Is anyone there?"

A hand had suddenly slammed up against the passenger side window, leaving a smear across it as it drug downward toward the handle.Seeing the woman flinch, a man had been injured and grasped onto his shoulder before knocking on the window.
He had a gun in the other hand and his expression was pretty urgent. "Lady, please...urgh, I need to get to a hospital...damn...bullet..." he grimaced.
((Sorry it's so short, just an introduction post))

Three things nearly happened when that hand hit her window. First, she nearly crapped her pants... second, a heart attack nearly followed her nearly crapping of her pants... and third, as she belatedly realized, she was about to pull the trigger of her Ruger P95. She hadn't realized that it was in her hand and she didn't know how it got there.... but it was there.
Pulling her finger off the trigger, she looked at the man. Blood was on his shoulder, but it was too much for her to see if it was a bite, or if it was bullet wound. Nowadays, most people lied because if it was suspected that it might be a bite, they would open game for killing. She kept her gun in on the stranger.
Still Creek was a strange place, she thought. It was like a story out of the Outer Limits or Twilight Zone. She met people and they disappeared on her. This place was definitely cursed.
She rolled down the window far enough for his arm to get in, but nothing more. Then she put the car in drive.
"Throw your gun in the front seat, first. Not that I don't trust you... but I don't trust you. Then show the me wound. If I don't think it is a bite, I'll let you in the back and take you to a hospital."
Lilly kept one hand on the wheel, the other with her gun on the stranger and a foot on the break, ready to hit the accelerator. If he was telling the truth and tossed her the gun, then she would let him in the back. Her cruiser was set up like a police cruiser with a heavy duty shield blocking off the backseat from the front... in case she was asked to transfer prisoners. It would do to hold him until they could get to a hospital or a place that she felt safer looking at the wound.
She had a little bit of medical training from the academy and you just seemed to pick up things in crisis.

The man, Adam, had grimaced and thrown his car onto the seat, still clutching onto his wound as he contemplated his actions momentarily. The pain was enough to force him to think irrationally therefore, he uncovered it. Doing so, exposed a tear in his shirt with a nice, .45 round sized bullet that was bleeding profusely. When he was sure she'd seen it, he'd grasped onto it again in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
"Alright, there, just...help me out, lady, please..." he told her, exasperated.
When she allowed him entry, he hopped into the back and tried to cover up as much as posible to keep from bleeding out on her seats. Not like it mattered, but he still held manners. It was just who he was.
He could remember the whole scenario. Wrong place, wrong time. All he wanted was to deliver the stuffed animal to the shelter for the small girl. Those a**holes didn't have to go beserk and try to kill him.

Lilly had seen gunshots before... being a police officer was a good way to see what a bullet would do to someone. The amount of blood seeping from the wound was also something she had seen. And it told that she couldn't get him to a hospital. He would die long before the trek into Las Vegas.
He needed help now.
She looked around and made sure no one was around and then reached under the seat. She always kept a first aid kit there. She opened the door and stepped out, making sure her pistol was at the ready. She stepped to the back door and flung it open and set down the case. Popping the top off, she grabbed a small container of meds and tossed them to him and then a water bottle.
"Swallow 4 of those", she said. "They're painkillers and will dull the pain." Then she pulled out the other items... a pair of scissors... some gauze... medical tape... a bottle of rubbing alcohol... and a pair of forceps.
She had only done this one time... and the effect was ugly, but it had worked.
Back when she was a homicide detective with the LAPD, she had been called to a scene to conduct the investigation. A single mom had been shot and the boyfriend was gone. She had been in the middle of taping off the scene when he had shown up and fired on a colleague . The boyfriend was killed at the scene, but her colleague was wounded in the shoulder. She had pulled out the bullet and dressed the wound, but it had left a nasty scar.
And that time had arrived again. Putting more confidence in her voice, she spoke. "I can dig the bullet out, but I'm not a surgeon. You'll have a souvenir. Otherwise, you die before we get to a hospital. Your call."

Adam nodded eagerly, popping the pills in his mouth and crunching them between his teeth and swallowed a mouthful of water. He'd made a sigh of relief when he felt the cool water running down his throat and into his belly. It washed away the uncomfortable heat in the pit of his stomach.
"Yeah, yeah, get it out, just, hurry, please, it's f**king killing me..." he told her as he gripped his fingertips into the seat before him. As she began to work on him, he began to vividly recall his current situation from the time he'd left the hospital to right about now. It felt like so long ago but in reality it was only a month or two.
"Argh, ugh, how--how long have you been here?" he asked, trying to strike up a conversation to keep his mind off the pain.

Lilly's voice was one of faroff concentration. She used the scissors to cut open the shoulder of his shirt and then twisted the cap off the alcohol.
"I've been here for about a day. My cruiser here, hit a rock that gouged the gas tank. I had to weld a plate to the bottom and refill the tank at the gas station. Name's Lilly by the way."
Lilly knew that she had to keep him talking, first to keep him occupied when she dug into his arm... and for the other reason to see when he would go into shock.
"This will hurt just a bit", she said, not giving him time to anticipate the alcohol. She poured it on his wound, cleaning the area. It washed away most of the blood and Lilly knew that it had hurt like a son of a witch. She held onto his shoulder, using her strength to keep him from lashing out. She looked at the wound that's when she could see the bullet. From the looks of it, it was either a .45, or a .357 mag, but she couldn't be certain.
The grabbed the forceps and poured alcohol on the business end, readying herself for the next part. She looked around, making sure they were safe for the moment. Then she positioned the pinchers just outside the wound, ready to dive in.
"So what's your name?" she asked and then plunged the pinchers into the man's shoulder.

"Ada-AAAARGH FURGH, MOTHER!! f**kED!" He swore, hissing and shutting his eyes tightly. His teeth began to grind down atop one another as he felt blinding pain in his now, throbbing shoulder and arm. Instincts and reflexes wanted to punch this chick out, but he had enough will powerd to keep that from happening, so instead, he clutched onto the seat infront of him tighter and nudged his sweaty forehead against it.
As she tried to finish working on his wound, he began to feel a sudden cold chill come over and his skin developed goosebumps and raised hairs. He slowly rubbed his brow against the seat and grunted painfully. This hurt alot more than expected. Of course, he'd never been shot before, so how was he to know what to expect? Stabbed, yeah, punched and cut, sure. But never shot and it was by far the worst feeling in the world right now.
"....Adam..." he finally mustered enough strength to say it. He was weary and tired. Eyes rolling around in his head, he wobbled aside a bit, feeling Lily grasp onto his arm to keep him still. His consciousness was slipping away.
Eyes drooping heavily, he suddenly snapped them awake and turned toward Lily, pushing her away slightly and vomitted all over the pavement. There went his meds, water and yesterday's can of beans.
Heaving, his face reddened and he began to vomit some more.

Lilly clamped her mouth down and tried to do the same with her stomach. It was a weird quirk of her nature. She could handle open wounds and festering sores, but watching someone heave just did a number on her own regurgitation reflex. As the man lunged past her for the door, she found herself crawling out of the car and doubling over, her stomach threatening to empty its contents on the ground.
Luckily, she won that battle of will powers and nothing came up. She looked over at the man and then down at the pinchers in her hand. The bullet was out. Now it was time to stitch him up before anything could get in there. As he straightened up from vomiting, she poured more alcohol on the wound, to clean it out again. Then she forcibly pushed him down through the open back door of the car onto the seat. Then she reached for the med kit and extracted a curved needle and surgical thread. She estimated if she put 5 stitches in his shoulder, it would hold until they reached a hospital in Vegas.
Reaching in the front door, she pushed the cigarette lighter in and then she began to thread the needle. She had heard him say his name was "Ada..." before he had started to yell.
"Adam?", she said, figuring that was the most common name with those letters. "I need to put 5 stitches in your shoulder. Then we can cover it with gauze and tape. You okay with that?"

Finally the pain had became a null, void and before long, he was able to gather his composure slowly but surely. He nodded a little at her question and rested his head back on his seat. He could taste the acidy vile in his mouth and the sting of it in his nostrils. It was uncomfortable and disgusting, but there just wasn't anything left to throw up. After a few moments of recollection, he looked at the woman.
"Sorry about that...guess I'm in shock..." he told her. He'd seen her nod in understanding and then looked on toward the area around them, well, what he could see from the backseat. The infected weren't all gone, but they were far off, just sluggishly shuffling about.
"What brought you all the way to Still Creek...? I mean...it's known to be packed to the brim with undead..." he asked, trying to keep his mind stable.

Before Lilly could answer, the cigarette light popped, indicated it was heated. She pulled it from its slot and began to slowly drag it over the needle, seering it and making it sterile. Then she doused it in alcohol and then leaned over Adam. She was accutely aware that more of the undead were around, but there was no indication they were close by... plus Lilly was more worried about the gunshot and where it came from.
She slid the needle through the skin and looped it around, making the first stitch. Her tongue began to poke through her lips as it usually did when she was concentrating. She pulled tight on the thread and started the next stitch before she answered.
"I'm looking for my younger sister. My family was heading to the mountains from Los Angeles, but then I got a message that they were heading in this direction. I didn't find them here, which I don't know is good or bad. So now I'm heading to Vegas. I stopped to find some medical supplies at the ambulance over there and was about to leave when you scared the crap out of me."
Lilly pulled the needle tight and started the 3rd stitch. It was starting to close up the wound.
"So how did you get here and who wants you dead?"
Finally, the question she really wanted answered was asked.

Adam hissed a bit as the needle had been pushed in and pulled out over and over through the mind numbing pain. She told him she was looking for her sibling and then finally got around to asking about his gunshot wound. He looked down at his now raw flesh and grimaced, teeth clenching tightly. He thought about how to answer the question, but wasn't very sure he should.
"I'm looking for a little girl. I got this teddy bear that she asked me to bring and...well...I can't find her anywhere. It sounds strange, I know, but it's true. She may have been moved elsewhere, I dunno," he began.
"I went to the place she told me about before and there were some men holing up in there. They wanted my supply and when I wouldn't give it to them, they attacked me, I managed to kill one of them, but the other three were much better with their rifles and well, I got shot."

Lilly's gut froze. It was one thing to deal with the undead that preyed on the living... quite another to deal with the living pieces of crap that preyed on the them.
"What was the girl's name?" she asked as she finished up the last stitch. She cut the thread and then put gauzed on the wound and used the surgical tape to hold it in place. While she did that, she thought of the two little girls that she had met in Still Creek. Ana had been a teenager and probably not who he had met. Still, sometimes during times of great stress people reverted back to a younger place. The other girl she had only glimpsed for a few seconds. Lilly didn't even remember hearing her name.
She snapped the medkit shut and put it back in the front seat. There, laying in the front seat, there was the handgun that he had tossed to her. She picked it up and checked to make sure the safety was one. She looked at Adam and then back at the gun. Should she give it back to him.
