A horribly distraught growl broke the silence that had began to come over the forest where Dominic stood, face to face with a middle aged man tucking the butt of a rifle safely under his pit. He aimed it forward, towards the sound of the growl. Dominic's head jerked to the left, his body following afterward. His purple irises were revealed when his eyes opened wide, aiming his pistol at the ravaging dog that held the torn limb of a bloody animal carcass in it's gritty teeth. It seemed strange, though. The fur was torn to pieces and it's skin was revealed, bloody and bruised. As it got closer, he could see into it's blank pupils. He didn't let the words escape his lips, but the thought came to his mind. Could have whatever made the corpses seemingly rise from the dead on the streets of racoon city possibly have infested the minds of animals as well? His answer didn't come as quickly as he thought it would. As the dog jumped, the man he had only just encountered sprang into action, pulling the trigger. The sharp round embedded itself between the dogs eyes, the last sound heard being a solemn whimper.
"You seen it, officer. Hes seen it, too. This sickness, takes over. Even animals, too. I had to put that dog down, he was coming at me..." The man said in quite a serious tone, causing Dominic take a deep breath and reassess the situation at hand. He lowered his firearm, holding it down at his side. He even hoilstered it, though he kept his right hand near it in case it was needed in a quick-draw scenario. The situation had grown calmer after a few moments of silence. It was then broken once more but this time with a much more peaceful initiative. The middle aged man, who's height towered his by about 4 inches. Maybe more. He explained that him, along with his companion who stood slightly farther back, were planning on driving back into the city to visit the Raccoon City Police Department. Irony filled the air in more ways then one. After a few more moments of silence, the other man spoke up. His accent was more county like. After hearing what he was asked, he replied nonchalantly. "I'll fill you in on the way back." He said, cracking a small smile. It was good to have someone watch your back. In this case, it was two experienced survivors. As he looked closer at the two, he found them familiar. He could have sworn he saw one or the both of them while taking his entrance exam. Could they have been officers as well? He'd have to ask later.
"I have a truck back down the way but it should be safe up here. I'll ride with you two back down."

"Alright, then hop the tailgate and lets get going." Joe and Jax got into the truck, as well as the new guy. It would be good to go into the city with three people, had things really been as bad as he thought. It was a little disturbing how the new guy didnt respond to what it was like, which could only mean he was probably just as confused as they were. Still, they all had guns, and ammo. It would be a cake walk so long as they stuck together.
Further down the mountain, the truck came to a stop, seeing as it was a truck parked on the side. Joey got out himself, just to check the surrounding area, hating to get jumped by another one of those dogs on the off chance. That was when an explosion came from inside the city. Several of them close together. It wasnt anything too large scale, but enough to know the military were involved. "Well f*** me, thats never any good..." Joey didnt exactly know how to react, it wasnt as if this was some war in the east. This was his hometown. They werent that far from the city, just the right view of the explosion, and thats when all three of them knew things were bad. Very bad.

Jax jumped out of the truck when he saw his baby in view. He ran up to his beautiful black Dakota and unlocked the doors while the others scanned the area. He rummaged around for his ammo and pulled out his rifle when the explosion went off. He jerked back and looked toward the city seeing a mushroom shaped plume of smoke begin to fill the air.
"Holy Shi..." His jaw went slack before he could finish his sentence. He just stared for a moment before looking at his partners. "Wha' tha' hell was that!?"

Dominic kept his eyes open and his hand slightly over the hoilster of his Beretta 92 Custom. When the truck slowed to a complete stop, he looked to his right. Then to his left. He didn't know too much about the undead creatures yet, but he knew just enough to know that they could appear out of nowhere and pretty much completely unexpected. He wouldn't let himself be caught of guard again. Though between the tree firearm specialist, it wouldn't be too much trouble to work out in the long run. When Joey got out to check the surroundings, he made sure to provide cover fire. Just in case anything unexpected were to occur. He then glanced towards the city, just quick enough to catch the explosion that occured only seconds after the trio had arrived. It wasn't too large, but it was almost deafening. Could the military have finally arrived? Or were the "zombies", for lack of better term, causing much more of a wreckage then he ever could have expected.
Dominic frowned slightly, his heart almost thumping out of his chest. Butterflies filled his stomach. His father. What if something had happened to him? What if more survivors were in peril? That was it. He knew that he had to get down there and find out what was going on. He had to find the truth..no matter how painful it may or may not be.

The explosion was a surprise, it would be to anyone. Joey had his fair share of explosions in his days, but none of them were this big, and set off inside the city. Quarry blasting was one thing, but by the looks of it, this was nearly a quarter of a city block, which was definitely not civilian. The military wouldnt have any reason, unless it was a good reason. The "good reason" he thought about meant they were fighting a losing war. "We have to get down there now, see if we cant round up some of the other officers and band together to help people. Im not even a cop anymore, but I dont think the departments really thinking about anything but getting as much people to safety as possible."
Jumping back into his truck, Joey ripped off along with the other two, creating a small convoy down the rest of the mountainside. There wasnt much left til they hit the highway, but the traffic might be pretty clogged up, seeing hundreds of people leaving the city at the same time. It was a bumpy ride, but the small crew were more then capable drivers, and they finally reached the dirt path branching into the closest highway exit into Raccoon City.
Thats when the vehicles came to a complete stop, the traffic wasnt even moving, just all parked on the sides. Lifting up the glove compartment, Joey pulled out a pair of binoculars, and scanned the highway area toward the exit. What he seen didnt look good at all. There was a roadblock, looked like the military, but it didnt seem like any colors he recognized. It was on both sides, both main exits, the only exits to the highway. Lots of men with guns, heavy artillery. Nobody could go anywhere, just stand beside their cars and watch the city from a short distance, just as the group did. Getting, he moved over to Jax, and gave him an update on what he seen ahead.
"They have this entire highway stopped, nobodies going anywhere. These people are safe out here though, away from the city. Even if you used the sirens, you couldnt get by. Lets go up and see whos in change, ill follow suit, being as you two are the ones with the badges." He spoke to both officers. But before they could move up any closer to the highway, there was a series of gunshots further up the highway by the checkpoint. Ducking down instantly, the trio had their own guns ready, and were trying to process the situation. "Are they... Open firing on those civilians? What the hell is this...?"
At this point, it seemed like terrorism. This wasnt normal, nobody, not even the military, would have the orders to open fire on the civilians. If they were trying to quarantine, bullets werent the way to do it. Gunfire began to erupt on the other side of the highway too, and people began to flee. But rifle fire made an escape impossible for them. "Christ... Get your guns ready. If they push in, were going to shoot... Look for an opening, and make a run for the city on foot." Quickly, Joey grabbed the bag from the back of the truck, and strapped it onto his back. It was heavy, but he could still move easily enough, given his upper body strength. They were getting into the city, one way or another.

Jax was on the verge of retorting that he was only an officer-in-training. But gunfire suddenly erupted from the pseudo-military characters on the bridge. "Wha' tha' hell?!""Christ... Get your guns ready. If they push in, were going to shoot... Look for an opening, and make a run for the city on foot." Derek turned and grabbed his bug-out-bag and stuffed his spare ammo boxes into it. He slung the back pack over his shoulders and did the same with his rifle. He pulled his pistol from his waist band and hunkered down behind the nearest car. People still in their cars began getting out and running the opposite direction of the gunfire. The trio pushed through the crowd fighting their way toward the exit-turned-barricade. When they got closer they could see the other side. Hordes of people were trying to get out of the city but the men in black suits were firing down upon them. Jax dunked down behind a car to keep from being seen buy the gunner above, and waited for his partners to form up. "Jesus. They're really shooting innocent people. Wha'da we do? We cant take on an army."Emotions raged inside Jax's head. He wanted to stop this crime, keep the people of his city from getting hurt. But he knew three guys with semi auto hand guns couldn't take out an entire army-like squad with full auto weapons, and military vehicles. It would be suicide. He hoped their new arrival would have a way back in since he had came from the city. Maybe there was an unblocked route nearby.
