The gates slowly opened, and after a few tense moments, Colonel Holt came outside, flanked by two guards that Polly recognized through the view slit. After them came four older men, their hands behind them, looking both scared and angry. Two guard followed behind them, weapons pointed towards their backs.
"I think the Colonel is going to either execute or banish the council members my love. I don't know how I feel about that."

"I wasn't planning on either love. just some good old fashion demotion and humiliation with some pain mixed in."
the council members were lined up when the tank finally came to a halt a mere 2 meters from them, the main gun pointing directly at them.
Coming out of the hatch, Katya shook her head at the council members.
"Really? after we had left? And knowing what i am capable of?"

One of the councilmen opened his mouth, but closed it after the turret swung towards his head.
"I'm not finished."
"Shut up harlot! You may have corrupted the colonel and that slut girl, but you wont"
His spiel was interrupted with a steel capped boot to the jaw.
After he fell to the ground, his nuts were introduced repeatedly to the boot.

Polly popped her head out of the turret and gave the woman a large grin. Seeing the traitorous council in such a position made her giddy.
"Well, harlot? Should we let them go? give then a days rations and send them on their way? I don't figure they would survive long. Better odds than they've given other though."
For her timidness, she sometimes managed to surprise people with her audacity and evil streak. She guessed Katya was rubbing off on her.

"They get to do the next supply run. Alone."

"And no guns right? Can't have them getting any ideas..."
Polly smiled and closed the hatch again, getting in the driver's seat and moving the tank inside the gates, carefully maneuvering so she didn't scrape the gateway as the vehicle passed through. She parked the tank in the middle of the common grounds and turned off the engine, not needing to waste gas.
"Alright, come on Jake let's get your bride to be out of here. She looks like she could use some air."

As they all came out of the tank, the residents, mainly the children started gathering around the tank.
The children were excited, the parents not so much.
And then came Polly's parents.

"Well, we're back..."
Lilly helped get Cassandra out of the hatch, and then climbed down herself, watching as Katya and the guards came back in, the former council members in tow, looking pathetic and small as they were hauled off. Oh how things had changed.
"I'm okay. Don't worry mo-oof!"
She struggled in her mom's death grip as the woman simply held her tightly and cried. What had happened since they had left?
"Mom! Dad get her to let go she's crushing me!"

The father ignored her pleas and added to the crushing.
In the end, Katya had to pull them both off.
"I don't know what else has happened while we were gone but could you please not crush my lover to death. I'd rather not have to look for another one."

The couple let go of their daughter, and Polly gasped in a few breaths as she recovered from their near death hug.
"Thank you. I think I am hard to replace. There aren't many Polly's left in the world."
Polly's parents backed away and let the couple embrace before continuing.
"The council had banished you both, and then they tried to take your home. One of their sons moved in, but we threw him out before he could do anything but step in the door. We were probably going to be banished next, but I guess people around here seem to like us. The community kept them from doing any harm to us, but we haven't been allowed out of the settlement, or our home, for the past few days. We're just so glad to see you back home and safe."

"It's kinda hard to argue against someone when they have a tank." Katya smirked, keeping watch on the children who were beginning to climb over it. "Be careful and don't touch anything inside, it isn't a toy and can be very dangerous. Tommy! don't touch the machine gun, what did I just tell you!?"
sighing, she went to supervise the children.

Polly turned and saw the confused looks on her parents faces. Of course, she hadn't shared her recent bombshell with them, so they had no idea what she was talking about. She guided them back to their house, leaving Katya to supervise the small horde of children that had descended upon the new toy that the women had arrived in.
"...And that's what I told her. I want to be a mother. Not sure if she's too keen on the idea."
She looked down at her hands after she had finished explaining the want for a child. She was afraid to look up, wondering what they would think, or how they would react.
"What about you? Ready to be grandparents?"

Her mother took polly's hands.
"honey, obviously we would love to be grandparents, but...how would you go about it in a way that doesnt affect the relationship between you two?"
Her father scrtatched the back of his head uncomfortably, "Yeah...i mean, I am WAY less dominant and possessive than her, and I would fight tooth and nail against the idea if it was your mother."

"I haven't worked that out yet. I guess maybe, just pick a person that won't stay here, won't be a part of the community? No attachments. It'd just be us then."
Polly shrugged, feeling silly and uncertain. Was this the right thing to do? Was she the right woman to share this responsibility with? She didn't even blink before she said yes in her mind.
"I can make this work. I believe in us."

They both looked conflicted.
"well...if your sure...then we wont interfere."
they headed back to see katya trying, unsuccessfully, to get the kids off the tank.
it was like a horde of zombies, every time she took one off, 3 more would take their place, and they just kept coming.
seeing polly, she waved a hand with a look of abject horror and fear in her eye.
"HELP!!"
