Unfortunately, your hopes of finding a weapon are run dry. You are alone, with the woman officer, Hernandez and Johnson. They, too are out of ammo. All they have are clubs. But, what you do spot under the bed is a small foot long toy bat. It is wooden, and might be useful for something. The small bat is as tough as the sticks the cops have, since it is wooden.
Hernandez finds a hammer and nails. He and Johnson reach a problem. They are concerned that the noise of hammering will attract the crowd again. It is getting lighter outside, which means the other cops are still out and exposed. Random gunshots are heard throughout the night and early morning, some distant, others close, but not within visual range.
Johnson: "It's 7:41. Where they at ?"
Hernandez: "If were all that's left, we gotta relocate.
Woman Cop: "I think we are safe here. We haven't been attacked again. We are safe here."
Hernandez: "But if we move out now, we can get somewhere safer."
Woman Cop: "We are out of ammo. If we're swarmed, that's it."
Johnson: "Look. I don't want to go out there, but I don't want to stay here. We got a kid to watch out for."
Woman Cop: "Mhm."
Johnson: "Just remember, Sarge. You're responsible for us."
Hernandez: "What's that supposed to mean ?"
Woman Cop: "Don't get us killed."
Hernandez: "Na, my shift ended six hours ago. I'm technically off the clock.
They begin to get into a heated debate on who's responsible. Their voices raise, and the woman cop tries to shut them up, but realizes she can't. They don't listen to her. Their voices erupt into shouts as they argue, the woman cop stands in the doorway near you. "LOOK OUT !" An injured crowd member enters the room as they argue. She whisper. "Oh my gosh. This isn't happening." At least five more follow that one. "STOP b*tchING, LOOK OUT !"
The two men begin to push one another. Hernandez stumbles back and bumps into a wall, but Johnson stumbles back into the crowd. It is like slow motion. Johnson is bitten right away, on his neck. It's like the person tore through his flesh, with sharp jagged and chipped teeth. The smell you smell from earlier is very strong now. It's from the crowd. A combination of urine and other human waste, and of infection and puss is strong on the crowd.
Woman Cop: "Please. Get under the bed." She speaks in a soft, terrified whispering plea. Hernandez climb up onto the rafters. "Hide" he says. The woman cop closes the door slightly, and watches in horror as Johnson fights off the crowd, with anger. "Hernandez, HELP !" He thinks there is help, that there is a way to win, but he can't see what everyone else sees. Like before, a wave of shambling figures seeps into the room like a fluid. Hernandez shouts. "They're dead." With tears and fear he cries out in a tone of realization. "They're all dead ! That's why they stink like that. They're dead walking." The woman cop is shaking as she closes the door, and locks it. "Just hide under the bed like I said before." She puts the bed against the corner of the room, and pulls a desk to another side of the bed, and manages to crawl under the bed too, with you, and stuffs the stuffed animals around you both to hide. "Shhhh. Try to sleep and they might be gone when you wake up. We'll escape when it is night time again. Ok ?" She whispers that, and tries to cuddle.
Another hour passes, the door is still not breached, but the crowd of dead still remains.
(08:44)
Helicopters can be heard flying above. Hernandez shouts "That's the army. They're here to rescue us." You hear him jump off the rafters into the crowd, and fight his way to the window shouting. He shouts form being bitten. There is no sign of Johnson. Hernandez receives the same fate Johnson did, and begins cussing and trying to fight off the crowd. Hernandez is also silent. The smell is strong. Your breathing becomes louder for you. The shuffling of the crowd becomes louder. You grow very sleeping, and realize the woman cop is already sleeping.
