Anomalous Trip (Part II)

He holds it out. When you go to take it, he has a subtle smile as he holds onto it tightly. You see him up close, noticing some of his scars on his face and neck. He releases it. His aviators hides his eyes. “Smoking can be hazardous. Not to our health. But because of the heat. It draws a weird bug to the heat source. And when you puff, they come.” He speaks like he’s telling a scary store, with a deep voice. Roll for resistance against being startled (wisdom). A bug slams into your forehead.

[Dragnoxz]

You have a beetle like creature on your forehead. The sarge looks and backs up with a smile.

TSgt Terrence: “Don’t kill that. You’ll summon all of them to you.” Sgt. Bo cracks up.

Sgt. Bo: “Thats a k’zeet.”

[slicsinatra]

“Must be the sound it makes huh? Mind if I get a light?” I brush the beetle off. “How long have you guys been here? As in this realm.”

[Dragnoxz]

Sgt. Bo: “Nah. They ain’t dumb. That one just catching its breath.” He holds out a small wire that has a mini taser at the tip. “Here.” The tip sizzles as it ignites the tip of the cigarette.

TSgt. “Oh s*** !” He ducks as the bee looking bug flys off. “Man, you got to be careful with them. They sting like bees !” It circles and flys up to a nest by the roof that hangs over the opening that looks over the town. “Those are used for defense up here. Enemy panics and they all go after them. We don’t want to do that.”

Sgt. Bo: “Yea. They’re trained by the village.”

TSgt. Terrence: “We’ve been here since the start. Bout a few months.”

Sgt. Bo: “It’s been every day we gotta keep the lines secure. All that tree line, enemies be out there. They testing us. My armor pops every other day. f**kin Mag’chis, the b*tches, be tryin to get us from beyond.” He takes another drag. “I tell you what, when them apaches come by, they nowhere to be seen.”

[slicsinatra]

I take a contemplative drag and lean on the wall slightly. “So what’s the end goal here. Have we made any real progress? Or is this just a waiting game to see who breaks first?”

[Dragnoxz]

TSgt. Terrence: “You’re gonna have to ask officers that stuff. We’re just here holdin the line.”

Sgt. Bo: “Every enemy we stop is progress to me.”

[slicsinatra]

“Right. Well.” I take another drag. “You guy’s familiar with the Resident Evil universe?”

[Dragnoxz]

TSgt. Terrence: “Not really. I know there’s games.”

Sgt. Bo: “I-ah get back to watchin the front.”

TSgt. Terrence: “Is there anything else you wanted to see ?”

[slicsinatra]

“Nah.” I finish my cig. “I’m good now. Thanks Terrance.” I pat his shoulder like a comrade. “I’m gonna go check my team at the hospital.” I go head to the hospital to check on my people.

[Dragnoxz]

TSgt. Terrence: “I can walk you there so you know where it is. Or you think you can find it on your own ?”

If you go without him taking you you gotta roll Intl. If he directs you the you don’t need to roll.

[slicsinatra]

“You can come. I could use a refresher.”

[Dragnoxz]

He takes you down the stairs and put the building. Out of nowhere, you are just about to talk to him and everything around you changes into something else.

Unknown Aggressive Voice: “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !”

You wake up with a serious headache and are on a cot in a medical looking room.

TSgt: Terrence: “Yo, he’s coming out of it !”

2nd Lt. Lakeland: “Easy ! Breathe easy.” She’s holding something cold on your forehead. Major Neltz is there too, holding something against your neck.

Major Neltz: “That’s right. Breathe easy, let that heart rate settle.” You notice your heart is beating very fast. You feel your veins pulsating. When it settles a bit more, you notice Captain Davis standing close. “Caston. How did you know she was there ? What else can you tell us !?” He grabs your hand like you’re about to die. He’s shaking, as is everyone else. You see older men wearing upper class nobility attire. Greens and blues, one with a staff, another with a dark blue precious stone trimmed by gold, necklace. “How did you know, Caston ?”

You obviously don’t know nor will you know what they’re talking about. However, you feel the sensation of a darkness coming for revenge, and don’t know why.

2nd Lt. Lakeland: “Caston ?” She’s also shaken.

2nd Lt. Bardlaw: “Caston, you there ?” His hand is by his pistol.

TSgt. Terrence: “Caston, what do you remember up until we walked out of the temple ?”

Major Neltz: “Everyone back !” He reaches for his pistol. Bardlaw raises his rifle to the ready. “He could be-“

2nd Lt. Lakeland: “Noh-“ She reluctantly holds her hand by her pistol.

Everyone steps back. Neltz and Lakeland are the only ones holding something to you, but are now very cautious. After all, this is a front line where diverse and complex things can happen, relating to telepathy and cross dimensional strategies.

[slicsinatra]

“Hold on hold on. Terrance, what happened when we walked out?!”

[Dragnoxz]

TSgt. Terrence: “What do you mean !? You were talking about landmarks for the pilots to go attack and how, when and where !” Across the room a mysterious voice speaks up, loudly.

Nal’yus Woman: “Stand down ! I, Farenvól, am responsible for this !” She speaks firm and with authority. ”I spoke through him, so you could find me and help me. Let him alone, he is not compromised.” Everyone stands down. Your heart rate slows. She emerges from the parting crowd. “Caston, if that’s what you’ll be called, I thank you for being a vessel of communications for me. And I very much apologize for not asking permission this time.” You hear gasps across the room when she says that. “Only few of you I’ve been able to speak through like that. But, Klemotzya was able to block me from you at the end. I thought it was too late.”

Major Neltz: “Where were you !? You are suppose to be here, with US !” She has the look of a child that has done something wrong.

Farenvól: “I had to see for myself, what they’ve been doing. The high council is already spread thin. I’m the only one left to defend this world. Without you, we would have lost. I apologize for not communicating better.”

Major Neltz: “This world is your responsibility. We are here as allied partners because they attacked us. You called us. You need us ! So why risk yourself for everything like your brother did !?”

Farenvól: “He’s going to open up a portal to the rest of his copies. To attack here.”

Major Neltz: “s***.” Others also say s***. Even the nobles say it, (in English).

Farenvól: “Your jammers and technology can help us and our abilities to stop that portal. But we need to block it like you did them before, where you destroyed the mountain.”

Major Neltz: “I’ll get right on that, ma’am.” He speaks sarcastically. “Gah-shhh.” He puts his hands on his head now that the realization of what she said means begins to hit him. “Ok. Think. Think. We got one VAD. How do we channel the signal from here ?” You are so not familiar with what he means about a VAD yet. “It needs to deploy to their terminal, their hub of entry.

Farenvól: “Also. The portals from each of his copies will open up here, and on earth. But, they will be much bigger and more stable. A reverse to the slow close of portals from before, where it made them smaller and deformed.”

Major Neltz: “So, giant armies. Got you.” He speaks as if it’s not a big problem. “We have- s***. That means they’ll be too many to handle.”

Farenvól: “That means earth-“

Major Neltz: “Is f**ked.” When he says that others say it at the same time. “The only way is to reverse their hub and destroy all that is on their entry side. But we need the location, and a VAD above it to channel a reverse image projected at it once it opens. One problem. How do we enhance the projection ?”
