Xanthira grinned slightly as she spun her sword in her hand. She looked at Poe for a moment, before looking back to the creatures. "Now be a good boy Poe, and don't misbehave while I'm gone," she said with a slight grin. With a flap of her wings she was in the air. She moved faster in the air than she did on the ground. Her wings didn't weigh her down when she was flying though granted she didn't do it vary often. She arched herself forward and took off toward the creatures. Splitting her sword in two as she reached them. Mid flight she ramed her sword threw the stomach of two of the creatures as she passed by them. She turned around as she set down on the ground brining her sword up into the stomach of a third creatures. She turned just in time to see a forth creatures getting ready to spit it's acid at her, and with a wave of her sword a faint bronze like shield formed around her causing the acid to disapate. As the shield vanished she slide to her side and swining her sword up into the stomach of the fourth creature.

The first creature Xan stabbed let out a -poping- sound before jumping back, deflating and falling to the floor. The other two let out screeches as the blades passed into them but soon returned back to battle. As for the fourth, Xan barely missed it with her blade as it descended down to Xan's ankle. Without wasting a moment, it opened its massive mouth and bit down hard on her leg.
Watching Xan fight Poe descided to act as well. She had managed to weaken two of them and kill one so he targeted one of the injured ones. Running up he threw back his arm, swung ther whip and flung it forward causing it to crack loudly. From the sound a light green wave of sound shot out at one of the monsters. The injured monster tried to evade but was unsuccessful. Though his blow made impact the creature did not die but rather fall down onto the ground bloddied.
Frustrated, he looked at the other injured creature and tightened his grip on the whip. Dashing foreward he jumped off of a mailbox straight at his target. Striking once more he wrapped the tail of the whip around the orbish creature. Then, with all of his strength he spun around and with great force crashed the thring trough a nearby store window instantly killing it.
Meanwhile, two of the creatures came at Jackie preparing to bite him as one came up to Gearfreid puffing up its chest preparing to attack him with his toxic breath.

Jackie looked at the monsters who were making their way toward him and smirked. He certainly wasnt afraid of floating party balloons, but he had hesitated. He wanted to see exactly what these people were capeable of. From what he had just witnessed, Gearfried's magic wasnt a crock, Xan's wings wernt for show, and Poe knew his way around a whip. And mailboxes, apparantly.
He listened to Gearfried's explination on the creatures, and smirked. Peircing, eh? He had just the thing.
Raising his pistol, he fired four times at one of the things. By then, he was out of room to fire safely. When the things were within several feet, he reared his left arm back and waited. He punched foreward when the undamaged one got in range, making sure to keep his arm clear of the mouth, instead aiming at the upper part of its body. Or was it head? Jackie couldnt tell where what ended and what began.

Xanthira cried out as she felt the razor sharp teeth clamp down on her ankle. She bit her lip as she fell to the ground nearly throwing her skirt above her head as she did. Though that was the least of her worries at the moment. She could already see blood soaking the creatures teeth from piercing her skin. She reached for her sword, and with one quick thrust popped the creature like a balloon. Xan grimaced slightly as she climbed to her feet, trying to keep pressure off of her right foot as much as she could. Still she could feel the throbbing sensation radiating threw her leg as she put pressure on it.
She couldn't stop they had a job to do, and if anything it was the first time she really felt needed. She wasn't going to stop, not until the job was done. Racing forward she swung her sword again at another, and suppressing a cry she pivoted on her foot as she brought her sword around into the stomach of another creature. "H- how many are there?" she asked bitting her lip to keep from crying from the pain.

Gearfreid sidestepped the acid spit, he swung up with his gauntlet, disembowling the thing and popping it at the same time. Hearing Xanthira cry out in pain, he turned and watched her cut the Ahriman off her leg, and still attack. He immediatly ran over and stood beside her and helped her get off the bitten foot once the Ahriman she had attacked was dead. "Cmon, and dont argue with me. You need to get the weight off that foot. I dont know what that nasty beast had on its teeth, or if it hit anything important, other than you of course, so the less strain on it, the better." Gearfreid yelled over to Poe and Jack. "Cover me while I get Xanthira to a safe spot to help with her leg. " Gearfreid started getting her somewhere to sit so she could get the pressure off the wound.

Jackie fired off his bullets instantly blowing away the creature. Inside the firearm the materia began vibrating as it started regenerating bullets. As he punched the second one his fist simply sunk in as if the creature was made of putty. The Ahriman cackled at him before doing a flip in the air and striking Jackie in the face with its spiked tale. As half of the creatures lay dead on the pavement, more swarmed from around the corner, about five in number. Getting his orders Poe blocked the new crowds path toward Gearfield and Xan and raised his whip. Swining it around as hard as he could he cracked out a sonic boom at the center of the group hitting and popping one as the others scattered. Looking back he watched as one of the enemies from the original group come swooping down at the two.
"Oh no you don't!" He yelled out. He jumped into the air and soon there was a poof of smoke as he turned into his cat form and bit the Ahriman in the tail. It cried out and began flying wildly as Poe struggled to hang on. Meanwhile, one of the damaged creatures closed its mouth and began to puff itself up as another Ahriman grabbed him by the tail. It let out a cackle as it whipped around the inflated creature and flung it at Xan and Gearfield. Upon touching Gearfield on the shoulder it bust open releasing a cloud of toxic gas. -Xan and Gearfield are now diseased. symptoms include blured vision and drowsyness-
While this was going on the Ahriman that had tail smacked Jackie whipped around and grabbed his hair in its talons holding him prone. Leaving Jackie struggling one of the new arrivals flew forward and darted head on targeting Jackies gut with its entire body in an attempt to body slam him.

Jackie hadnt even seen the second one coming, having been preoccupied in trying to free his hand. The hit to the face had only made things worse, dissorienting him somewhat from the surprising force of the blow. He let out a gasp when the other hit him in the stomach, and fell backward.
He supposed a bit of luck was stuck in the situation, as his hand popped free from the seconds body. It still had a hold of him, but he had all limbs free. It was a start.
He gripped the pistol tighter in his hand and pressed the muzzle to the creature who had ahold of him, right at the stomach. He fired two shots, and watched the monster pop like the first had. The force as well as the fact that he had been using his weight to try and break free caused him to fall roughly to his back. Before he could catch a breath, the second was on him.
Without thinking, he pointed the pistol and fire two shots at it, the rounds that had been regenerated in the time he was struggling with the monsters. He took a moment to estimate what he could do while he waited for the rounds to regenerate, and how long it would take, when he saw one of the creatures flailing in the air with a cat biting its tail.
"You dont see that everyday..." He muttered, and turned to his stomach. Using his metal arm, he stood with some difficulty and aimed his gun at the monster with feline attached. When he couldnt get a clean shot without hitting Poe, he reajusted to another that looked like, in his opinion, that it was trying to help the one being attacked by the cat. He squeezed the trigger, and one round came before a dry clicking sound. He cursed and hit the side of the gun in a futile hope that it would make it work faster.
Sometimes he wished that they still made old guns, with magazines.

The Guards escorted Ari through the city of tents and little campfires that sat at the doorstep of Polville--the city was barred off from the citizens, already a conundrum of clashes beginning in the city--‘the evils of technology’, some had dubbed the sounds. Ari shivered, despite it being quite humid after the morning rain.
The Elder lived in a tent in the middle of the camp. As they neared the tent, Ari began to feel increasingly impatient and confused. “What’s all this about?” she asked the Guards, but they didn’t answer, only pushing her into tent and forcing her into a wooden, nifty-looking chair. Ari waited.
It wasn’t long before The Elder--Reverend Abraham--shuffled into the tent. He looked nervous and shuffled his feet in a clumsy manner, lacking grace. Ari was shocked; was this the same strict, religious man from the orphanage the nuns had to hide her abilities from; hide her true nature from?
As she stared at the--appearance-wise--senile old man before her, she felt a sense of disbelief and dread. Reverend Abraham was well-known for his guidance for the city, he was a leading light in the running of the orphanage, with a high success rate in the female sector of the boarding--and an average success rate with the males (only 86% of the males in the orphanage hadn’t resorted to a life of crime afterwards).
Basically, if he fell apart, the whole city would fall apart.
But when Reverend Abraham spoke, in that deep voice of his, Ari felt somewhat relieved. Despite his waned appearance, his voice still held the strength and firmness she had both feared and admired. “Ari, young one,” he spoke, “I call you today, as I need your help--yes, you’re help,” he smile when she looked surprised, “I’ve chosen you out of thousands to participate in what is probably the most… the most important event that will ever occur in Polville’s history.”
Ari’s curiosity was piqued. Despite his speech being short, Abraham, like great speakers, had that ability to leave people on the end of their chairs, anticipating his next sentence. As a speaker, he could work marvels--he was resolute and powerful, his voice clear and his dictation undeniably unique in one of the most brilliant ways. “What… what is it, father?” Ari asked, in awe.
“Ari, Polville has fallen to victim to some of the worst crimes… the reasons to this, I’m not completely sure… but I think we both agree that we need to take our city back--everybody agrees on that, that is… except the people in the city. There are those that want to take the city through brutal force, but I believe that there’s something more needed--I believe that only a special group… a chosen few will be able to quench our city of it’s plague.”
“Am I part of the chosen few?” Ari asked, even though she already knew the answer. Yes.
“You are,” Reverend Abraham affirmed her. Ari noticed the guards behind her shuffle uncomfortably, her senses sharp as ever, always in an aware moment--something due to her ‘defect’. “I sent out four people to complete the quest, partly due to my fate material, it helped me sense them out--purity amongst the grime. Those that still used magic,” he sighed, “you don’t entirely used magic, but your abilities--”
Ari gasped. “You knew about… me?” she blurted out. The nuns had been so sure, so capable, so cunning in their deceptiveness when they had hidden her from the Reverend. But apparently not.
“You do not interrupt The Elder when he’s speaking,” a Guard behind her grunted angrily, pushing down on her shoulder, it hurt and Ari forced the urge to push it off arrogantly. Instead she smiled bleakly.
“It’s okay,” Reverend Abraham told the Guard and grudgingly, the Guard pulled away from her. “I know a lot of things,” Reverend Abraham told Ari, but his voice was devoid of malice, and instead said it as if his gifts were a burden. “Your gifts, Ari, are simply extraordinary,” Reverend Abraham informed her, “I thought I would ignore them at first, at first I was repulsed by them. In fact, I am still repulsed by them… but someone like you, your powers despite your neglect of them… I truly believe, despite your age, that you are a Chosen One--you are one of the few that will ride this city back to its greatness.”
Ari was taken aback and in so much awe. There was nothing to do in the camp, the orphanage had closed down and the students had resolved into fits of hate and malice and anger--she was gratified that she had been accepted, that she was a ‘Chosen One’. “The city needed helping and she was willing to do it. “A group have already been dispatched into the city, they entered it via the gate on the outskirts of Polville--please enter that gate… they can’t have moved far…” Reverend Abraham peered out of a flimsy window in the tent--out towards the city. “Are you willing to leave now?”
“I am,” Ari affirmed.
“Elder you can’t be serious,” interjected a Guard. “She’s only thirteen; she’s young and she’s rebellious and she’s obviously bored--have mercy, enough of our youth have died.”
Despite the Guard’s argument being weak, it somehow impacted Reverent Abraham. “But…” he wavered, he looked at Ari as if seeing her for the first time. He muttered something under his breath and Ari was shocked when his mouth formed the correct silent pronunciation for a certain curse word. “You’re right,” he resolved, “you’re, oh, so… right, I’ve been so stupid.” Reverend Abraham turned around, “take her away,” he muttered.
“But…” Ari wavered.
“Just go!” The Elder yelled, seeming furious--but whether at her or himself, Ari was uncertain.
Ari had grabbed her weapon--a sleek bow-and-arrow she had created in a nuclear science class in the orphanage as well as stuffing a whole lot of pebbles into a pack she slung over her back. The Guards had escorted her back to her tent and as she walked within the camp, she began to feel slightly anxious. What she was about to do was illegal--she was going to go against The Elder’s word, against the Head Guards of Polville United’s word. But she was still going to do it.
She felt compelled to find the other people in the city, to help them. She was a Chosen One, after all. Ari felt intoxicated by The Elder’s speech; addicted, obsessed. He had that power over people. As she neared the gates, she hung around, thinking over ways to get within the city. Two Head-Guards were guarding the gates and both of them had a strict, ‘don’t-mess-with-me’ look on their faces.
The sky was nearing it’s peak--blue sky smeared by the golden orange of suns, Polville was renowned for its beauty and despite it’s predicament, the entire city was a mellowed bliss.
She clutched her weapon in her hand, feeling vulnerable for a moment before striding a few steps forward. The Guards swung around at her sound and she hid behind a bush before they caught sight of her. Nimbly she attached a pebble to her quiver and aimed it just left of the gate. The pebble shot from the quiver, hitting the gate with a surprisingly powerful force.
The Guards, alarmed, rushed towards their quarters--probably to inform the others there was a rebel in the camp or some other similar accusation. Ari was surprised her plan had worked so easily, waiting a few seconds as they went out of sight, Ari got up and rushed towards the gate. It was padlocked.
Curising, she pulled of her pack and hurled it over the gate--the same went for her bow-and-arrow, it was strong enough to impact the fall. She felt her muscles stretch as she climbed up the gate and threw herself over it. She landed on her knees and, swearing, she gathered her stuff before heading away from the gate.
A building to her left had been completely destroyed, all broken glass and plastic… it obviously hadn’t been very strong. It was then when Ari heard a scuffle and an inhuman screech. She flung around, but saw nothing. She then heard another yell--human this time.
Feeling suddenly very scared, Ari decided to find the source of the sound. She rushed down the streets and what seemed to take minutes, seemed to take hours. However, when she finally found the source of the sound, it seemed the journey had been too short--way too short.
Four people stood around on the street. One was a young, handsome brunette guy with glasses, another being a striking-looking man with features similar to those of a cat. “Poe…?” Ari wondered. The other two were very unusual looking--a tall man dressed like a scholar and an attractive angel, both dipping in and out of a drowsy walk and strutting around as if they couldn’t see properly.
But what horrified her most of all were the creatures around them, huge gargoyle-looking monsters with huge eyes and wings that caved around them. “What are those?” Ari asked under her breath, her knees wobbling as she staggered forward. Maybe coming into the city had been a bad idea… it was a bad idea.
The man in glasses pointed at one as if to shoot, only to realise there were no bullets in it. Poe materialized into a cat and struck one on the wing. Ari rushed forward, not completely sure what to do and feeling more and more panicked. She reached for her weapon and attempted to shoot one as she plucked a pebble onto her quiver, but her hands were sweaty and she dropped her weapon.
Her back began to tickle and Ari heaved out a breath. The tickling increased and as she bent out to reach her weapon, the nano shot out of her back, spraying a blast of poison behind her. She felt the skin it had pulled apart regenerate immediately. The nano dived through the air in a spiraling arc and struck the ground between two monsters, blowing up between them and killing the two of them.
The other monsters took heed to the threat and screeched in choruses as they flew away. Ari leaned over, grabbing her weapons, her energy slowly coming back to her as she rushed towards the others. Were they the Chosen Ones? She wanted to make some sassy, profound introduction, but all the came out was, “what were those? What are you?” this was implied towards Poe, and, “what is she?” in an awed voice, glancing at the angel-looking girl. Ari then laughed--hysterically, and in relief.

Xanthira coughed slightly as she felt herself breathing in the toxic fumes from the creature. The effects almost seemed instant as her vision started to grow blurry, and her eyes grew heavy. She looked up at Gearfield and couldn't really tell, but suspected that he was suffering from the same problems. She staggered in step with him, and nearly jumped out of her skin when she hard an explosion. When she looked back even threw her blurred vision it was evident enough that the creatures were scurrying away. When Gearfield had pulled them both to a stop, probably more so that they could use each other as a brace to keep standing.
When she hard the young girl ask what she was, Xan wanted to retreat. Even the way she looked at her wings was obvious, even to her. She could see it as plain as day weather she was awake or asleep. She pushed away from Gearfield almost wanting to run away. She hated the look . . . she hated the questions . . . she just couldn't take it, and there was no place to run. As soon as she brought her foot down on her right leg she cried out. Even threw her drowsiness the pain was still there, and in turn caused her to collapse on the ground. Pushing herself up slightly as she drew her wings in close to her. She knew that she couldn't always hide from it, but she just wished that at least once in her life people wouldn't gawk at her wings.
So many times had she wished she was normal . . . just like everyone else. Then maybe she would have been happy for at least a little bit, but who was she kidding. She wasn't lucky like that, she was never lucky enough to be happy. She wiped the single strand of tear from her face as she practically laid back down on the pavement, using her wings to cover her. "W- we need to find a cure," she said tiredly as she just laid there wanting to hide from the world.

Gearfreid had struggled to keep up with Xanthira as she limped and he staggered away, the effects of the disease causing him to nearly collapse and he staggered, barely hearing what Ari said, and in his half awake state, it infuriated him to a great extent. Xanthira was just as human as he was, and didnt deserve that treatment. He snapped at Ari, not really realising what he said. "Watch your mouth, she is wounded and poisened, with the same poisen I have as well. So unless your gonna do more than stand and laugh, get to cover."
He knelt beside Xan's form, trying to focus on anything that came near, and would probably lash out at anything that was flying towards them, only seeing blurs of combat. He responded to Xan with a soft, albeit strained, few words. "We'll be fine. I dont think this is permenant." He continued to try to focus, and his system continued to fight the disease as best it could, and Gearfreid hadnt realised that the creatures had either died or fled, and Ari had helped them.

When the creatures had been started he had been whipped from the enemies tail and fell right into a grabage can which toppled over. Soon tere was another poof of smoke and he returned to his original form. "That won't wear off anytime soon. You two need to get some medicine. Perhaps we should head to the hospitol next. We can stock up there and its the tallest building in the city so maybe we can get a better view of whats going on." He then looked over at the newcomer.
"Ari? What on earth are you doing here? Go home and leave this job to the adults. This isn't a place for kids to be playing around." He then looked at Xan. "And bite your tougne. Your not exactally normal yourself." Poe then walked up to one of the corpses and kicked it. To his suprise a handful of industrial grade materia rolled out of its mouth. "What on earth are they doing with these?" He asked himself picking one up. He then shrugged his shoulders and tossed it aside. "Alright, follow me, the hospital is thisway and it isn't far. Xan and Gearfield stay in the center of the group. Now that they know we're here who knows what they might send our way." With that said he took the left street and began walking down the sidewalk.

“Wait, what… you guys are leaving me?” Ari yelled out to them as they began to drift of towards the hospital. Grabbing her pack of pebbles and slinging it over her shoulder, as well as picking up her weapon, she ran after the group. “Wouldn’t the hospital be destroyed by now? Those creatures seemed quite…” Ari said, but nobody bothered responding to her.
“Hey, I saved your lives over there, and this is no place for criminals either!” she snapped at Poe, in auto-malicious mode. “Yeah, next time I bother trying to help, I won’t--I’ll just watch you guys get eaten to death by a bunch of flying, one-eyed creatures. That way you can’t blame me for anything.”
“And it’s not like you’re normal either,” she spat at Poe, flicking a pebble and watching as it skidded over the dusty sand. “I mean, a guy that changes into a cat? Come on,” she laughs darkly, “when I came here I wasn’t expecting to get caught up with a group of judgmental, aggressive, arrogant…” Ari struggled for a word to complete her sentence, but gave up.
“You guys suck,” she sighed, edging towards the rear of the group, but still much in pursuit of them. Now that they had told her to go away, she was never going to leave--never. Whether they liked it or not--from Poe the cat to the angel girl--she was staying.
And that’s the way it’s going to be, Ari thought to herself, very aware that nobody had bothered to respond to her rant, or her questions, in the current time.

Poe continued to walk down the street. "Didn't you hear. I'm not a criminal anymore. They released me." He said proudly hoping she wouldn't notice the security collar around his neck. He then looked around at all of the empty houses. "Then again, with all of my former partners on the loose, no-one would give it a second thought if they came home to find they were missing a vault full of Gil." Continuing to walk it wasn't long until they reached the hospital. It seemed relatively untouched. "They wouldn't have any reason to come here. It should be well stocked. They keep all of the medicine on the first floor." He then stopped. "Don't ask me how I know." Right next to the hospitol was a thrift store. The cash register was easily visable and untouched. Poe know that there was a sun window on the roof he could get in through. "I'll be back in just a sec. You guys go ahead without me." Smiling he changed into his cat form and approached the vacant storefront before pouncing on a dumpster looking for a way to access the roof. Once he was inside the money was his for the taking.
