I'm not gonna lie, I'm not very active here, nor a very dedicated member. However I am an old member of at least a few years that likes to check in here and see how things are doing, discuss a few things with other members and say hello to all the staff.
Its been a very long time since I've done any of this. Not because I had better things to do or because I didn't like how things were last time or even because of anything I might have, and might later say. I simply got bored, which considering who I am, isn't necessarily a bad thing. The staff was great, the board was well organized and the members were, if not outright friendly, helpful and lively. Unfortunately as I return for yet another spurt of activity, I see a lot has happened since the last time I was here.
No, this isn't a call to return to the old, or to bring life back to a near dead forum. This is far from it.
I look around and I see the staff has largely changed, the policies, which I had railed against previously, seem to have changed if not for the better, then closer to my liking, and, among other things, the place just go revamped. Now this isn't just a recounting of an old member, again, far from it, but simply someone saying they appreciate the changes, the old ways and the new ways. While I railed against the policies and the rules, I also understood they were part of the fundamental reason this great forum, RERPG has lasted so long, is one of the oldest surviving Resident Evil Roleplay, or Forum, but a community dedicated to its fandom. Yes, this seems a bit preachy to me, but I feel this has to be said, or at least that I have to say it, so please bear with me.
I understood why things were the way they were, I understand why some things are the way they are now. I even understand the drop in activity. As I was thinking just the other week, and just as I saw the other day- when it comes not just to forums, but to roleplaying, there is a lot of that 'been there, done that' feeling. Times change, people move on, those of us that are sentimental can take the time to sit and think about past friendships and rivalries, if not outright hatreds, those of us a little more new, a little more...practical as some would say, can just move on and form new ones, not because we are cold or callous, but because thats what we do.
When I started this, I didn't really intend on saying all of this, it just came out as I was thinking about this forum, about how it functions, how it works, and how I might think of a way to help get a little umph back into it, how to reorganize, prioritize and ultimately help this forum still remember and yet move on. I don't have quick fixes, not any brilliant ideas guaranteed to get this place a bit more active, and if I did have quick fixes, I would lock them away because quick fixes are on the fast lane to destroying what they are trying to fix.
My suggestion isn't so much as changing things around- thats not my place to say and even if it were, there are still people on the staff whom know me and don't entirely take what I say as I intend it, which is partly my fault due to past actions. Regardless of that, and regardless of all I've said, I've been here for years, silently lurking, picking apart arguments or simply trying to join in having a good time and I want to help. Primarily by saying thank you for the good times and suggesting maybe now is a good time to go through old, inactive topics and moving them to the archive, reorganizing the groups, new and old due to old members no longer being active- I know a dangerous thought, but even still, cleaning up rosters, updating information and the like does need to happen- I'd be happy to help even, I have enough free time throughout the day that I could do so, but not enough to truly become a nuisance
Thats my two cents, my suggestion and my trying to express my appreciation for the long years of fun, discussion and good times had here.

Would it be okay (approved) to clear out a section that was formerly overrun by zombies? I was thinking of clearing out Oak Hill in Washington and making it a safe zone.

I would be interested to know, what are some of the upcoming ideas, plots, storylines, etc that the site administrators have in mind for our site.
