"I mean sure, the boys back in the club didnt know what to do. He just came out of nowhere, ready to fight, and he didnt give. Damn near killed Fredric here right in front of our eyes, isnt that right lad?" The four men inside had been drinking, didnt seem to pay any attention to the outbreak. "The bastard broke my nose, and two of my ribs. Carl took the worst of it, though. His leg was broken, dont see too much of him anymore. Were the only once left of the group now, beside old Mattie, but hes workin on gettin the fight club back into operation downtown. Made a pretty profiet until that man Griffin came along..."
The four gentleman were obviously fairly drunk, one a little moreso than the other two because he seemed to be sleeping. It wasnt until Lisa showed up that they all get a little more riled up. Seeing two ladies wasnt something they were expecting, more of those infected maybe, but this hotel was safe. So long as they all stayed on the bottom floor, they would be fine, the monsters upstairs were locked in rooms. "Yeah, thats cool darlin..." As curious as he was, she didnt look to be crazy, or wanna rob them of any supplies, and he was too carefree to bother with any questions. It all just felt right. And if things worked out better than planned, maybe him and the fellas would get a little lucky.
~~
From the ally of the street, Joey zig zagged and led the infected off in search for a slower meal. By this time, he was getting tired and weak, the constant stamina drain from running had taken its toll, but it was good that he was nearing the Sonata Hotel, and none of the infected were following him. He was so used to killing them, that when it came down to just running away, it was even easier. But getting out onto the street, Joey realized that he had gone pretty far of course, and was much further from the hotel than he thought. The city wasnt really his specialty, it was always the thick woodland. So long as you could manage the terrain, getting around was easy. The city had so many dead ends and impassible obsticles. But he would be there soon, very soon.
~~
McKenzie stood up from his seat, obviously very intoxicated, and wandered across the floor. His three buddies sort of watched him, but continues their little card game on the reception counter, whispering to themselves about what this woman was going to do to the drunken man. McKenzie came toward Lisa, almost moving more poorly than the infected out in the streets, and with a breath that was much more dangerous too. "Y-you lil friend there, she looks like ah huhhhhhhhhhhhh?" Without thinking too hard, he pulled out a pistol, and pointed it at Lisa. "You know what... What they do to them? We shoot them, and then we have our way with them. Sometimes we get a little kinky and switch it around." The drunken mans intentions were sickening, but the two less intoxicated men had the same mindset, just not willing to admit it. They were making bets with eachother on which bone the lady survivor would break first, it was entertaining to see a woman fight none the less. They were going to stop him from getting the crap kicked out of him by her.

Lisa could smell the alcohol on his breath and it made her sick, it reminded her of her ex, always drinking and beating her. Which is why she became a cop.. to help those who couldn't help themselves. She didn't really just want to right out beat the crap out of him. Right now it was three to one and Raine was in no condition to fight, not without unintentionally revealing her 'problem'.
''Aw hun, you don't have to shoot us.. it's been way too long since i've had a man in my life. Now my friend on the other hand, her boyfriend is on his way.. so she's kinda off limits.'' Lisa knew Joey would be there before the other two men could get to her. They were clearly intoxicated and she could run them in circles until they fell over. She ran her fingers through McKenzie's short black hair and bit her lower lip. He dropped his gun on the floor as he placed his hand around the back of her neck and kissed her. The alcohol on his breath was making her nauseous so she acted quickly so as not to alert him. She moved closer to him and brought her knee right into his groin, bringing him to his knees. Lisa quickly grabbed the gun he dropped and pointed it in his face. ''Touch me again and I will f**king kill you.. understand?!?''
The other men walked to the other side of the lobby by the room Raine was in. They were still arguing on what she will do to McKenzie, but they also didn't want to get shot for being as close as they were. Lisa brought her leg up again and planted her foot in McKenzie's face knocking out one of his front teeth. He started to scream and ran over to his friends who started laughing at him, but Lisa kept the gun on all of them.
''Come on Joey....''

When the drunken mess had been attacked, the two older men didnt know exactly what to say. They had been roaring, not scared in the slightest of the woman. It was comedy to see McKenzie what was was coming to him, but in the state he was in, things were going to end poorly no matter how hard he tried. As the gun was pointed at the, the two stood there with their hands in the air, McKenzie on the floor nearly passed out from the impact and the alcohol. "Oh, come on now, ladie. We dont want to hurt you or your friend here, we wouldnt do anything like that. Just lower the gun and lets all talk this over, okay?"
But by this time, it was evident that Lisa wasnt going to drop the gun, not even lower it for just a second. Clearly, she was going to make sure either of them did anything stupid, taking control of the situation was her top priority, and she intended to. One of the men, who was a little more fearless than the other, began to walk forward, but Lisa put a tighter grip on the gun. "You can go ahead and shoot me, missy... But them bullets aint gonna come out. Old McKenzie there been drunk all night, I wouldnt let him have a loaded firearm in his current condition. That would make me a terrible friend..."
The other man was laughing from the situation, and was already moving closer to Lisa. But before he could take another step, a long tongue came through the window, gripping onto his neck, nearly cutting down to the bone. By the time he was dead, the body was whipped out of the window. "Jesus christ! Mattie!" The man ran forward in horror to the window, peering outside, not caring about the blood on his hands that soaked the window frame. Turning around, he looked at McKenzie passed out, he was done for either way, so Fredrick did the only thing he thought at the moment. "Listen, lady, wes only wanted to have a little fun, but we gotta get to the top floor. We have some guns stashed in the closet near the roof, im sorry for coming onto you like that, im not like these other two, I swear! You can have all the guns and ammo you need, I promise."

Lisa smiled and dropped the gun on the floor. ''Thats fine because I brought my own.. Is it loaded... or isn't it? You don't know that answer do ya? Now if you wanna go upstairs, then go.. but I'm not leaving her alone.'' The man backed off a little but moved toward the steps that led upstairs.
Once he moved up the stairs, Lisa faced the doors again and saw Joey standing there. She ran over to move the big shelf out of the way and let him in, blocking it up again after he was in. ''Thank god you're here.. These guys here are really starting to pi*s me off and i don't want them getting to Raine..'' Joey looked behind Lisa and shrugged which raised her suspicion. Lisa looked behind her and noticed that the two men that were left in the room were missing. She then heard the lounge door close along with laughter from inside the room. ''Oh Sh*t...'' Lisa said as she ran to the door of the lounge.
She opened the door and saw the McKenzie on top of Raine while the other one held a knife to her throat. Lisa froze instantly, feeling like she failed in protecting Raine. She looked at Joey with a look that he knew all to well, only he could protect her now. ''She needs you... one thing she said to me when we got here.. i couldn't understand most of it, but what i did hear was, need.. and your name..'' Lisa couldn't shoot one without the other one hurting Raine, so she left it to Joey, knowing he could handle this better than she could.
Lisa repeated herself.. ''Joey, she needs you..''

Hearing the window smash when he got to the building, Joey looked to the side, and see one of those monsters with the long tongue pulling out another living survivor. It wasnt something he seen in a long time, but knew that there was more than just Raine and Lisa inside now. He wouldnt attacked the creature, but knew that it was occupied for at least a good half an hour before devouring all of its meal.
Quickly getting to the apartment, he seen the door was blocked off from the inside, ramming into it several times. Either Lisa would open it from the inside when she heard him, or he would have to break it down somehow. Thankfully, the door opened up, and Lisa was standing there a little shaken up. Apparently the survivors inside this building had been hostile, and by the time Joey realized exactly what was going on, he heard the door slam and the laughter. Lisa was on it quickly enough, but thats when they both realized that Raine was on the other side. It was very astonishing to know that Raine needed his help, like it was something she couldnt handle. Having that big of a drop in viral levels definitely wouldve made her weaker. But none the less, he was ready for action.
The door to Raine was blocked off from access, so it meant he had to go around. Ramming down a door into the cafeteria section, Joey sprinted across the room, jumped over a table and sliding across the top to get to the other side quicker. In another movement, he rammed through the half open door, and jumped for the man who had his knife to Raines neck. While holding on to him, he kicked off the other man, rolling across the floor. With that action however, the other man pushed Joey away, and raised the knife in the air, and ran toward him. In a quick movement, Joey unholstered Raines .44 magnum, and fire a shot at the man, hitting him square between the eyes. Walking over to the man on the floor, he put the barrel of the gun into his mouth, and pulled the trigger, spending the last bullet.
After ripping away at the barricade pinning the door, Joey cleared a way for Lisa, and then ran to Raines side, making sure that she wasnt injured in any way. It was hard to tell if she was coming to or not, but knew that either way, the gunshots would bring the attention of that creature outside in a matter of minutes. Moving out into the lobby, Joey looked through the window, and seen that there had also been infected coming their way, forcing them to head upstairs. He ran back into the room and lifted up Raine over his shoulder, a firemans carry, and than spoke to Lisa. "Up the stairs, we need to get her to a bed on the top floor, she needs to take another dose of this stuff to counterbalance what I given her before."

Lisa walked with Joey through the lobby and upstairs. Lisa smiled as she noticed Raine's hand holding onto Joeys pants by his belt loop and grinning slightly. ''I think in her current state, she remembers how much she loves you..'' They came to an open door and Lisa walked in to check it out. After about five minutes she came back to the door and gave Joey the ok. He brought Raine inside and Lisa went to close the door, but before she did, she made sure she shot a look at the man from downstairs in the room across the hall. Lisa walked with Joey into the bedroom where he carefully put Raine down to rest. ''I'll let you do what you have to do.. I'm gonna keep watch out there..'' Lisa said as she touched Joey's arm and gave him a smile.
After leaving the room, she checked her ammo.. still good. She sat on the couch and wondered what could happen if Raine didn't get another injection. Coma..death.. who knows. The important thing is that Joey had it and could give it to her. But Lisa was glad Raine was out of it when they arrived here, because those men would have died by her hands and not Joey's. Lisa was just afraid of what Raine would be like once those drugs wore off...

The top floor of the hotel had been quiet, but that was how things usually worked. The infected were all long gone, and the ones that remained were caught in locked rooms, or unable to find food and just collapse. The room they were in had been one of the bigger rooms in the hotel, which gave them all space to stay the night if they needed to without leaving in search of another room that wasnt riddled with rotting corpses and entrails. "Shes calm, not talking much, heavily drugged right now, unable to fend for herself. This isnt what I wanted, she needed to take the next injection. Itll jumpstart her heart, giving her the more human hormones, and this will last until the virus takes them over. The longer we wait now, the longer shell be calm and more human like when I inject her."
Whatever Jonathan gave her wasnt viral, it was something more physcial, something that was put under her skin somewhere to regulate the levels of infected cells. The only way to remove it would be to find it, and then it was a painful operation, depending on where it was. Knowing Jonathan, he wouldnt make it easy. There was only one person that would be able to find it, but Joey hasnt been able to get in contact with him since meeting back up with Raine. "We have to wait to give it to her. Too soon and we might not have enough time to help her. Theres something inside her, we need to find it. Simple as that..." Reaching into his pocket for the syringe, Joey patted his pants, and found that it was missing. But at that moment, there was a gunshot off in the hallway.
Running out, Lisa had her gun pointed in the direction of the shot, but she wasnt the one who fired, it came from further away. Two more went off, and it was than the Joey knew someone was still alive. "Ill check it out, you stay here and watch this door." The chase had taken him all the way to the other side of the building, and down the stairs. He could see the man in his sight, but he wouldnt stop running. Finally jumping rails, Joey noticed that the creature had been moving past the skylight above, and then he picked up the pace, knowing what the man was running from now.
Getting back down to the lobby floor, Joey seen the tongue fly fast him, and as he rolled out of the way, it whipped against the wall. A large tear in the tiling made him a little scared of getting too close, knowing he would be dead in seconds. Worst of all, he didnt have anything but his knife. Waiting for it to attack again, Joey dodge, deflecting the tongue away with his knife, and than sprinting further across the lobby. Around the corner, the man had been moving barricades away from the door, trying desperately to get out. The creature needed to get far away from Raine and Lisa, they were sitting ducts up there on the top floor. Helping the man move the barricades, they both pressed outside, tossing a large duffel bag onto the street.
The creature jumped onto the man, and was salivating onto his neck. Joey picked up a shotgun that had fell out of the bag, and fire it at the monster, knocking it off. Four more shells rang out into the beast, managing to weaken it, but not kill it. Dropping the empty shotgun, Joey backed away from the creature, waiting for it to strike again. "Get inside now!" Joey hollered out to the man who was wounded, still wanting to do his best to keep him alive. Clearly he didnt have the skills nessicary to take out the creature, where Joey at least stood a chance. Dodging another attack, Joey jumped onto the creatures back, and drove its knife into its head, but was whipped off in a matter of seconds. His knife was still embedded in its brain, and it seemed to be frenzied, giving him a chance to go for the bag.
Pulling out an M4 assault rifle, he flicked off the safety, and fire shots into it, round round at a time. Every second it got closer, he fired a few more rounds, until it had taken more bullets that it could find places to bleed from. When the beast had fallen, Joey gabbed his knife from its skull, and reloaded his assault rifle. With the gun and the bag of weapons, he ran back inside the ground, tossing it onto the floor in the lobby and running inside the room where he put up a struggle with the hostiles. Searching around for the syringe that mustve slipped from his pocket. Before giving up the search, the man came form around the corner, holding it in his hand. "This what yer lookin for?" With that, Joey clenched his fist in anger, and tried to figure out what the man wanted. "Keep the guns, give me the syringe. You dont even know what it does."
After the man had undid the cap, he ripped up the sleeve of his arm, and exposed the infected claw marks. It was obvious that this was the end for him, and that he assumed the syringe was some sort of antidote. Technically, the man was right, but he didnt know that. "Your saving this for girlie upstairs, arent you. Figures, she looked worse than I do right now. Im sure you can go back to wherever you got this one, and get more. But im going to take it, and then your going to tell me where I can get more. Im not going to die just yet. I have a daughter, shes sick too. I know what its like needing to take this stuff." Joey didnt really know what to say. It wasnt like he could just let the man have it, truth was, he didnt know where to get anymore. But at the same time, it didnt matter, because the man was already dead.
"If you inject yourself with that, ill kill you myself. Your already dead. That stuff only works on bites from those walkers. That creature outside is a BOW. You wont be cured, you wont turn into a zombie. Youll mutate into something worse, more powerful..." He doubted that the man would understand him, but it was the truth. The was no cure for what he had, at least none that was in this room. Joey felt angry for the situation, but at the same time, upset because he knew the man really did have a daughter. He could see it in the mans eyes. Hes not a killer, he was just doing what he needed for his family. He wanted to return to them, he wasnt crazy, he just wanted to live like the rest of us.
With the silence, there had been a large crash coming from the doorway in the lobby, and Joey knew it was the infected breaking in. "Make a choice. You give me that syringe, ill get you back to your family. Ill help you. You have at least twelve hours before it effects you. You still have time, just give me the syringe." When the door burst open into the lobby, the infected began to pour in, and Joey knew they needed to get upstairs now. Grabbing the bag of guns, he put it over his shoulder, and moved up in front of the man. "Come on Chief, we need to get upstairs, now!" With a nod, the man agreed, and then ran toward the stairs with his handgun drawn. He took shoots at the infected, clearing a way for Joey.
Finally they reached the stairs, but the man was barely making it up the steps, the infection was taking him over. Seeing the syringe in the mans hand, it really put him in a difficult position. After making it halfway to the second floor, made a choice. Taking the gun from the mans hand, he placed looked at the man, and then spoke in a cold, but sincere tone. "Im sorry..." Firing two shots into the mans knees, he dropped the syringe to the ground, and then fell to the bottom of the steps. Bending down to pick up the syringe, Joey could hear the sound of the man screaming in pain as he was ripped apart by the infected on the first floor, not looking back for a second. Glancing at the syringe in his hand, he quickly moved up to the top floor, heart racing, nearly passing out from overexcertion. "Lisa..." He spoke, nearly collapsing from the weight on his shoulders.
