The airman lowers his TMP to the low ready position, still ready to bring it up and fire if need be. He shakes his head the the young woman, "No neither of us work here, survivors just like y'all trying to find a safe place" he says to her.
He looks to Ethan and nods, "Yeh I ran into her a while back, before I met you".

Ethan was taken aback slightly when asked if he worked at the RPD, true he used to be a police officer back in LA but that was long behind him.
"I don't work here either. The body armour and the cloak not tip you off?" Seems the viral outbreaks had made people too jaded to anything unusual done by normal humans. "If you're looking for information I guess this would be the right room though, except for some parts."
He righted the cabinet that had contained the incendiary trap, completly useless now. "You've met Jake before then, guess that's half the introductions done. I'm Eth....Nightshade, just call me Nightshade."
He turned away and started thumbing through the other files. Maybe someone had misplaced one file, something he could use.

July raised an eyebrow when told that the two men near her were survivors, but something Jake said didn't quite fit with her. True, she understood what the word "survivor" meant, but that wasn't the reason she was here. She came for work. So long as she had information and at least read the files, it honestly didn't matter if she came back alive and at times, she really didn't care if she got out alive though it would most definitely be better if she did come back.
She turned her attention to Ethan. "July. You coulda been a off-duty cop." She didn't much care for his nickname of "Nightshade." When she wanted to talk to him, she would call him whatever she damn well wanted, which would more than likely be "you." She started to continue digging though files that looked like they were covered in strange squiggles, only some of which she could decipher and throwing away the ones that were of no use.
Then, she remembered what she was going to ask. It was probably a question that would make her seem stupid, but she didn't care. "Any of you know where any of them..." she started to say at the two men. July paused for a moment and muttered, "What the hell do they call the boxes?...oh, yeah." She finished her first sentence outloud, "Puters are at?" Without knowing it, she unintentionally left out the "com" at the beginning of what she was looking for. This left her open for the two men if they decided to make fun of her.

Jake raised his eyebrow at the young woman's words, but shook his head, no sense making fun of the girl. He motions to the computers on a desk in the corner of the room, all but one had their moniters broken and towers busted apart. "What exactly are you lookin for anyway?" he asks.

"Puters?" Ethan stayed silent as Jake directed July around to the computers, but raised his hand to hold them back whilst he went to check them first.
"One second, the files I checked were rigged to burn, who knows what they did with the computers."
He yanked the side of the casing from the tower, leaving the important parts intact as he searched for any booby traps, explosives or surveilance equipment. He'd already lost a lot of leads so it wouldn't help if this girl suddenly sent up a big 'we're here' sign to anyone listening in. It looked clean as far as he could tell though, just to be safe he pulled the back of the monitor off to check it out too, handing her a slip of paper taped to the side of the desk.
"Looks like the system admin login notes, best use that, careless of them to leave it around but given the situation I don't think we can blame them for ditching the office quickly."
He snapped the casings back onto the tower and monitor, satisfied with his inspection as he stepped aside for July to get to work.
"Well, any day you're ready kid."

At first July didn't answer the question about what she was looking for. By even mentioning what she was doing or who exactly she was looking for could mean severe punishment when she returned home if anyone blurted out the name. However, she somewhat trusted them enough to at least say what she was needing a computer for. "I'm lookin' for someone." was the answer she gave. Not enough to deserve punishment, but just enough to answer the question.
She made it to the computers and took a look at them. Judging by the lights, the computer seemed to be on. The screen in the front had two boxes with words on them. This was another completely new thing to her. Rather than take a look at the notes, she reached into her pack and pulled out a piece of paper with a name written on it. In the first box, she carefully typed in the name and pressed a button. All she got was a message she could not read and whatever she typed covered in blue. She tried six more times, but the same thing happened.
Finally she looked at the notes. This was not of any real help. Most of the words, though written neatly and legibly, were a complete mystery to her. She didn't even know where to put what or what to do afterwards when the notes continued. It was too confusing and she refused to ask for help. This was going to get her nowhere.
From her pack, a beeping sound came. It was her radio and it needed to be answered. "July here." the girl spoke into the radio after pressing a button.
"Are you done with your job?" the voice on the other side asked.
"I'm at the cop house already. I'm trying to work with one of them 'puters."
"That's computers, stupid. Couldn't you find a written folder with his name? Or did you lose the paper Jana gave you?"
"I'm tryin'. There are too many d@mn folders."
"Are you being a smart-ass?"
"No. I'm still lookin' and I got other places to find where he is."
"You got one week. If you're not back by that time, you're going to get the big punishment."
The communication between the July and the person over the radio stopped there. She put the radio and the paper back where they belonged and turned away from the computer. "I'm done with it. If you wanna work with it, go ahead, but I think it's broken." she said to Jake and Ethan, taking a few steps away from the computer.

Jake cocked his head to the side, having heard the radio discussion, "The big punishment, whats that?" he asks as he walks towards the computer, having recognized the girl was having trouble with it.

ooc: if this goes against or ruins any plans PM me, or throw a big rock, whichever you prefer.
ic: "Hold on one second."
Ethan grabbed July's backpack and started rifling through it for the radio. The person on the other end was loud enough for Jake and everyone else to pick up on the conversation, and presumably they'd feel the same as Ethan would if this girl was being coerced into something. Unfortunatly tact wasn't his strong point as he took the radio, let her go and started fiddling with it despite any protests she had. He turned the device over looking for the transmit button, pressing it down and talking into the microphone.
"This is Nightshade, I'd like to have a little chat with whoever was just on." He gave it a second to reply.
"Once again, I'm looking for the big tough scary guy who apparently doesn't have the stones to threaten a little girl face to face. We should have words."
Impatient, he handed the radio back to July.
"While I wait and see if they're up for talking back, you mind telling us what that was all about? I can't help but notice that the computer is working fine and you seem to be having a bit of trouble with a few things that don't involve fighting."

July opened her mouth to answer the definition of "big punishment". Most other members of her gang knew of it as a different name but the boss dumbed down the name specially for her so that she could understand. "It's whatever he wants. Beatings, starving, locked..." her sentence was cut short when she felt someone tugging at her pack and digging through it.
This was unacceptable to her. She had spare bullets in there along with little goodies taken from other houses and buildings that nobody occupied. What was worse was the fact that Nightshade was talking into her radio at her boss. This was not good. When she would eventually separate from the two men and make it home, she was probably going to be beaten to the point of near death and have the only item that completely belonged to her smashed into pieces that could not be repaired.
She turned sharply at Ethan and glared at him, a look of hate and fear in them. "You do not take something of mine and talk to my boss like that! I never used one of them 'computers' before so I ain't know how they work. One of you wanna do it?" she avoided answering the part of who her boss was and ignored the part about knowing pretty much just about fighting. It wasn't entirely true, but she didn't want to talk to him about it.
Her face calmed a little after taking a few deep breaths. Her eyes were still locked onto Ethan as she added, "You know he's going to kill you when he finds out who you are, right?"

The airman steps in "We'll deal with that when we come it" he says as he moves to the computer. "Tell me what your looking for and I'll find it" he says, one thing about the airforce, it's members know their way around a computer better than average.
With that he sat down at the computer and went into the login screen, and picked up the keyboard and looked under it. stuck to the bottom of the keyboard was a login name and password on a post it. The airman shakes his head, "Good thing for crappy comsec" he mutters as he log ins.
"So who you lookin for?"

"Fine, I'm sorry I offended you and your boss, clearly you have everything under control and his threats against you are all okay."
Ethan may have milked the sarcasm during this apology as he worked the computer next to Jake and started typing away, opening a name search and fixing the filters so that nothing would be excluded when they started looking. Might as well help the kid out, even if he was just looking to get close enough to her boss to cave his teeth down his throat.
"Seriously though, why do you take that kind of talk? You shouldn't be near anyone like that. If you like we could take you to a checkpoint, the people there could help you find somewhere to stay, get off the streets at least. Let your boss find this file himself."
He leaned over to advise Jake. "Admin notes say the chief asked for RUBY as his last code, use that if you run into any top security stuff. Four letters, that's just embarrasing."

"I ain't got no choice but to listen to him...and for your 'formation, I don't live on the streets." July argued with Nightshade. None of it was a lie, though most other people would consider the abandoned buildings the teenager lived in counted as the streets. Her boss couldn't even find the files for himself. He was far too busy controlling the rest of the gang back home and he needed to find another building for their group to survive in.
Though she knew that Nightshade was talking in a low voice and the next message was not meant for her to hear, she knew what he was saying. Silently, she didn't deny the fact that four words was just embarrassing. Had she been able to decipher more than two of those letters, it really would have been an embarrassment. That part wasn't her fault and she decided not to scream at the two men.
In the short time she had been with both of them, she had a feeling that she was starting like Jake a tad bit more than Ethan. Jake was causing less problems for her. She was reluctant in handing the paper over. If he knew who she was looking for, he would have access to one of the dangerous gang members and would probably follow her home and dispose of the members of her second family. Even if he didn't care about the gangs, by following the paper, he would almost most definetely know about her illiteracy.
Ah, what the hell. It would be a risk she would have to take.
July dug into her pack and pulled out the paper. It was still folded up and none of the ink on the paper smeared or faded. Jana's handwriting with the name "Darryl Hope" stood out. July handed Jake the paper and said, "I'm lookin' for him." She quickly snapped her head towards the entrance to the room. It was probably her imagination, but it sounded as if something might be coming towards the small group from the hallway, a zombie maybe. She didn't aim her gun that way. The way the zombies moved, she would have plenty of time to shoot it...if one was actually there.

Jake nodded and took the paper from July, looking it over. Noting the "Darryl Hope" he went to work on the computer, setting up the search settings to include searching through all files for the words Darryl and Hope in conjunction. Hitting the search button the computer started it's job, the fan inside kicking in, loudly anouncing their presence.
With a look over his shoulder he took notice of sound coming from the hallway behind them, he was about to mention something as the computer finished it's search. On the screen were a few files with the name in them, and a police record belonging to the man. With a double click he opened the record and called July over to look at it.
"This it?" he asks.

"Just print the whole damn thing, we can read it on the way."
Ethan heard the noises from the hallway, rushing over to the door and closing it slowly, turning the lock and pushing a table in front of it. All the talking, computer noise and surely the booby trap seemed to have stirred up the locals. Afterwards he started checking around for alternate routes out of the room, little point in sealing themselves inside and expecting to wait out a bunch of clinically dead opponents.
"What do you need this file for anyway? A kid in a place like this should be looking for something useful, like food or weapons."

July leaned towards the computer and examined the document on there. It looked like a normal police record. Nearly everyone in the gang had one. She was one of the three that actually didn't have one because she was never formally arrested and the police never got her name because she disappeared from their grasps before they got a chance to learn it. Though she was unable to decipher most of what the document said, she knew what was inside most of it. She could find the information she needed later, but right now, she had a gut feeling that he wasn't inside the RPD anymore.
"It's him." she answered. "Print it." her request to Jake came off as a demand.
She turned her attention to Ethan and listened carefully to his questions after he locked the door. "The file's for the boss. I gotta find him. I don't need any more weapons. My gun is good enough to fight with and I only take things that are of value."
