The Kahe beach is also apart of the Electric Beach, which gets its name from all the neon lights and shops located right next door. The beach is a beautiful place and is frequented by plenty of tourists.

(Thornton, Andreya and Joe enter the beach area)
The car pulled up in a parking area close to the sand, thankfully having missed the larger crowds of the day and found a good spot. Joe exited the vehicle, holding open the doors for his friends and offering to carry the cooler.
"Well, I guess I could learn a few things about driving. Seems speed and safety aren't mutually exclusive concepts."
He looked around admiring the pristine unspoiled surroundings. It was shocking to consider that there was still a global outbreak of the undead going on with all the beachgoers, storeowners and off duty military and emergency personel taking it easy, not that they didn't earn it though, best to take time where you could.
"So, what is the plan?" He eyed the cooler suspiciously. If Shocks popped out when the first person reached for a soda...well, he wouldn't be suprised anymore, he lost count of how many times he'd visited and almost left with the kitten still playing in his bag. "I have to admit, this would be my first time at a beach."

Andreya let Joe carry the cooler as she took the towels and ran across the sand. She searched for a bit until she found a nice spot shaded by several trees. She laid out the towels and set up the rest of the stuff they brought as Thorton and Joe arrived to the area. She looked at them and smiled lightly and then looked out across the ocean. "You can play in the water, sit out and catch your tan, or just walk along the beach," she said as she took a couple of skips toward the water. "Been a long time since Thorton and I was here . . . . WATER!!" she shouted as she ran toward the ocean and jumped in at the last moment.

"Well, she's in a better mood. Good thing she planned this."
Joe tried to get comfortable by emulating the other beachgoers, starting by lying down, he rolled around some trying to get comfortable.
"This sand isn't too easy for relaxing on." Thorton soon directed him to try lying on one of the towels rather than the ground.
"Thanks....so have you had any other troubles over the past while? I know you're capable and all but if anything happened I'd like to help out where I could."

Andreya played in the water for a bit enjoying the feel of actually being able to have fun for once. It beat being stuck in the house waiting to get better, and even better than running for her life over a period of time. She looked up at the place where Thorton and Joe hung out on the sand. A nice sady area that way they didn't have to worry about the sun or any sun burns that would come from a prolong time of hanging out at the beach. She dove under the water once again before coming up. Flatning her hair out over her head she shook what water she could out as she made her way out of the water.
Trotting up to Joe and Thorton as they sat there talking about nothing in particular. She sat down on her towel and leand forward. "Bout time to eat don't you think," she asked as she started laying things out on another towel. "What would you like to eat first? Not to mention there should be an ice cream truck around here somewhere."

Thorton eased down onto his own towel, smiling when he saw Andreya bound off into the water. He was glad to see she was well again. About as well as she would be, it looked. He looked over at Joe when he started asking how they had been, and he thought back.
“Everything’s been good.” He said. Better than fine, or average. It had been good. “I’ve been home more in the past three weeks than I have been in the past year. If things kept like this, he was thinking of putting in for early retirement. Well, early by his standards. He should have been at a desk by now, at the very least. Recruiting or something similar, but he wouldn’t let them do that to him. The only reason it hadn’t been forced on him was because of the outbreaks. He was one of the first in the US military to fight the infection. That meant he was one of the most experienced at doing it.
Andreya came back after a bit of swimming and sat down, opening the cooler.
“Surprise me.” He said, not even sure what she had put in the box.

"Well, you deserve it. I have to say it can't have been easy with all the attacks and the like. Luckily you live on a military base, if you can't sleep safe there where can you?"
As they finished the chat Andreya came back from her swim and started digging through the cooler offering the two adults something. She seemed in a brighter mood that usual, hopefully she could have days out like this more often.
"If you have any and you don't mind, could I just have a water? and are you having fun out there?"

Andreya smiled lightly as she handed Joe his water and started to lay out the sandwhiches and a few other things she managed to get her hands on at home. "Yeah I'm having fun," she said lightly as she slid back on the towel and pulled her food to her. "Been a while since I was able to have fun. Even in school I spent to much time studying rather than having fun. Didn't get to make any friends either," she said lightly. She took a few bites of her sandwhich and then swallowed them down with a soft drink. "I can't wait to have more days like this and just put everything behind me. The medication will never go away, but that's okay. I have Thorton to help me through that. An I always have fun being around him."

“I’m just lucky your you and not some regular teenage girl.” He said with a laugh. “I could just imagine, boys at the house, all night parties, crap like that. I’d have had a heart attack by now. Or killed some teenage punk. Whichever happens first.” He said. He couldn’t have been luckier, having her over anyone else in the world.
“Lets see if we cant go catch that ice cream truck.” He said, hearing the music off in the distance. “I could use something cold.” He said, hauling himself to his feet.

"Sounds like a good idea."
Joe walked with Thornton and Andreya towards the road were the ice cream truck was parking nearby and setting up shop for the day. Suddenly the sound of tires screeching caught their attention as an elderly, diminutive man wearing thick lensed glasses crossed over, not paying much attention to the angry drivers who had been swerving to avoid hitting him. Joe tried to catch his attention.
"Izo?"
"Hey, Joe, you got any clue what has everyone riled up out here today? Just out for a walk and these boy racers are tearing up the pavements."
Joe tried to steer the conversation away from telling the fellow monk that he'd been walking on the road, showing him over to meet his friends.
"Master Izo, these are the friends I've told you about recently. Mr Thornton, Miss Andreya, this is Master Izo from my order, one of the monks who raised me."
Izo shook Andreya's hand, adjusting his glasses. "Thornton? Well, good to meet you, Joe has told me a lot.....hmm, you don't seem to be what I expected from a military man." He turned towards Thornton. "and this would be your daughter?" (ooc: reply as necessary if you want in your posts)
Joe shuffled awkwardly, trying to point out the mix up.
"Sorry I can't hang around, got some important business to attend to at the markets. Stop by the diner sometime, best food and drinks in these tough times."
He wandered off onto the road again, safetly crossing and avoiding the traffic by luck whilst panicking anyone watching him before turning a corner out of sight.

Andreya felt a bit odd shaking Izo's hand, but she laughed slightly as he walked off. She looked up at Joe and smiled a bit. "He's a bit odd," she said lightly as they started heading toward the icecream truck. "I hope he'll be okay walking by himself." She trotted behind Thorton as they reached the truck. When she received her ice cream she walked over to the bench and sat down.

Thorton shook the hand of the small man, slightly perplexed for a moment. He was odd, that was certain. Maybe blind, the way he had run out into traffic like that. Joe had said he had been living in Hawaii a while. Surely he would have gotten used to at least stopping at a crosswalk to check for traffic before he crossed.
“Ya, we’ll stop by sometime.” Thorton said, a bit of hesitation in his voice. He was sure the man was nice enough, if he was anything like Joe, but his eccentric nature was still… eccentric. He bid the man goodbye, taking off after him to wave down traffic and try to stop it before he crossed. Naturally he was too late, Izo already nearly causing a pile up. He watched until the man was across the street, and walked back to Andreya and Joe. He got an ice cream cone from the truck and took a seat on the bench next to her.
“He’s a bit… odd.” Thorton said, careful to make sure he wasn’t insulting the man.

"You think that's odd. Wait until I tell you that he was the one who taught me hand to hand. He's either got amazing good luck or an unusual awareness of some of his surroundings. I could tell you some stories of the things I saw him do growing up."
Walking behind the two whilst looking back to check in case Izo suddenly took a U turn back to challenge more drivers, Joe eventually caught up to the ice cream truck. He checked out the listing printed next to the window.
"Wow, 32 flavours? I don't think we'd get through all that without some serious dental risks."
"Umm. You don't have to buy all of them." The truck owner raised an eyebrow before addressing Thornton. "I'm guessing he's new at this?"

Andreya waved from the bench that she and Thorton was sitting on. "Give him the chocolate cone. I'm sure he would love it." She laughed slightly as Joe made his way over to them. "How much have you actually gotten out of your home?" she asked lightly not wanting to sound rude. She laughed slightly. "Though I have to admit that when I first come here that I was a little off with things. Wasn't use to being free to make my own choices or to even enjoy anything. Freaked me out having an actual bed that it took me a couple of weeks to stop sleeping in the corner of my room."
She sighed a bit before shaking her head. She sat up straight and finished off her ice cream. "But the past is the past, and if it landed me here with Thorton I wouldn't do anything in the world to change it. I figure all that pain was for a moments like these," she smiled as she looked at Thorton. "I really had a great day, and I can't wait to have many more of them." She shifted on the bench a little before resting her head on Thorton's arm. "So want to do anything else today, or go home and rest a bit. Then i can cook us a nice meal."

"We can do whatever you want to do." Thorton said, wrapping his arm around her. “We have nowhere to go and all day to get there.” He said, something his father used to say to him when he was a child. He looked out at the skyline and saw the sun starting to set.
“We should probably pack up and leave the beach soon though.” He said. It would be dark in less than an hour. “Go get the stuff, I’ll pull the car around.” He said, crunching the last bit of the cone and ruffling her long hair playfully. He stood up and walked from the bench to the parking lot, finding the car and walking over to it.
