The main roads leading to RCU fork off here, where buses used to transport students around campus. Also here is a railroad station used for travel on trains. Underneath this area are the sewers below RCU. They are now long abandoned and, without a conductor alive, it's dangerous to even be near them. Possibly, opening the doors to one of the train cars might let out unknown creatures lurking in the gore-splashed death trap they call cabs.

Jennifer enters from IT Department.
Breathing heavily from constant running, Jennifer veers off the main road toward the transportation hub, her spirits swiftly dropping when she sees the shambling silhouettes in the nearest waiting station. Still retaining the element of stealth at least for the moment, she keeps her flashlight pointed at the ground and cautiously moves toward the entrance to the tunnels below. With any luck, the trains might still be safe, and she can get out of here and into the main city.
Jennifer gives the waiting station a wide berth, hoping that the zombies within won't notice her presence at all. Her head constantly turning as she searches around for roaming zombies, she manages to make it past the first waiting station. The entrance to the tunnels below comes into view - along with a horde of zombies standing about.
Jennifer's heart sinks. Even if she makes a run for it, she may have to fight off a zombie or two, and if her aim is less-than-perfect, it may slow her down enough for the rest of them to be on her. Quickly dimming her flashlight, she hides behind a bench and considers her next move...

Day One: 0415 - 0418
I'm definitely charging extra for this one, thought Xavier to himself as he moved at a swift pace through the trees and scrub adjacent to the footpath, stopping at irregular intervals to check his flanks. The job had a simple premise: the daughter of a moderate-level Raccoon-based government official had been missing since the worldwide outbreak, and, despite his various pulling-of-strings and entreaties, no real effort had been made to locate her. In desperation, the official had turned to Xavier: a simple search-and-extraction centered at the official's residence in the upper-class Riverside Properties District... find out if the girl was alive, and take her to the chopper which was going to land in a specific area for uplift.
And, against all expectations, the girl was actually alive: terrified, certainly, and distinctly malnourished, but alive; he had found the girl, and taken her swiftly to the chopper, where he had handed over the girl, and discovered the second part of the plan: the small chopper had room only for the girl. With the arrival of the chopper, noise had become a severe issue, and a prolonged argument was out of the question. And so, here I am, on foot, trying to get back to a safe zone, thought Xavier, as he leapt down onto the footpath, and, weapon leading, began to progress forward...
And stopped. Dropping smoothly in a kneeling position, he raised the UMP45 to eye-level, and checked his front through the scope.
Xavier: And what are you, unidentified person: a person, or an infected?
No... looks like 'person', though Xavier, as he swiftly took note of the flashlight, lowered and dimmed, and the look of fear, mingled with resolve, on... her? Yes, her... face, the reason for which soon became clear: infected, and a large amount of them, mingling near some sort of subterranean entrance.
Xavier: Must be the local tube entrance... still, is she insane? There's ten of them crowding there!
Remaining in his position for only a moment longer, he quickly double-checked his equipment, making sure both of his weapons were fully loaded and safetied, before taking another look at the road leading towards the subway entrance: a large sort of waiting station, must be for buses... four low-level infected moving around, thought Xavier, as his hands continued to perform their equipment check, almost as if on their own accord; finally, his checks completed, he began to move forward at the same brisk pace, his path veering to take him back up onto the slightly elevated scrub.
Right, this should be simple: get close enough to attract the girl's attention, keep her out of immediate range, and get her away from here. Maybe I shouldn't stop her, thought Xavier wryly, as he moved quietly past the waiting station... after all, if she thinks she can make it past that crowd near the tube entrance, she's either crazy or suicidal. Pushing the thoughts out of his mind, he neared the point where the girl was kneeling, appearing to be still considering her next move. Up on his slightly-elevated wall, he dropped swiftly to a kneel behind a small-but thick-leaved bush, turning slightly to face the girl. When he spoke, his voice emerged, rife with subdued urgency.
Xavier: I don't know if you're crazy or suicidal, girl, but if you don't want to die, you'll follow me -- I'm heading out across this small park behind me, and if you still want to live, you'll get moving. Make your decision, and make it quickly.
His small speech given in a hushed whisper, so as not to attract attention from the infected, Xavier then turned and began moving back across the small park without waiting for a reply, his weapon forward and his posture crouched. Right, we get out of this one, and we'll find a safe place in this park, and plan a move away from the infected group.
Why am I doing this? The thought briefly crossed Xavier's mind, as his eyes continued to scan his front; looks like she's not the only one who's crazy, it seems.

It took everything she had not to scream when the quiet voice rose up from the nearby bushes. She turned just in time to see a dark silhouette stalking away toward the park in a fashion not unlike specially-trained soldiers. She could clearly see that he packed enough weaponry to wage war on the campus of zombies.
Glancing back at the mass of shambling forms, she sneaks off behind the stranger. "Um..." she whispers, her voice so low that he has to strain to hear her. "...y-you have a way out of here, s-sir?" She grips her wrench and flashlight tightly as she follows him, suddenly extremely aware of her vulnerability. She glances back every so often, feeling as though the horde is aware of her presence and is right behind her.

?: Um... y-you have a way out of here, s-sir?
Looking back for only a moment, Xavier's reply was given in a terse, blunt whisper; well, seems she's not as crazy as originally assessed, thought Xavier as his eyes quickly scanned her face, reading the fear and tension there. Jittery. Right, I have to find a place to conduct a quick check, he thought again, as he began to speak.
Xavier: Keep it down until we reach a safe point, girl -- and try not to look behind you, unless you definitely think you hear something; it keeps your eyes off what should matter, which is where you're going, and what's ahead.
Turning back to his front, he continued to move at a brisk pace through the small park, before stopping near a small public restroom, about twenty-by-twenty feet. Motioning for the girl following him to stop, he took a quick walk around the building, seeing nothing untoward, before moving towards the restroom door. Alright, take a deep breath, focus, and look before you shoot, check above you, and behind the door, thought Xavier calmly, his mind's eye running over the basic actions required in a room clearance; 'course, it would help if I had a second armed person for backup, but hell for it, I suppose.
In one swift motion, he wrenched open the door, which swung on its hinge wildly, although only a slight creak emanated as sound. Well-oiled... lucky, thought Xavier as he moved inside, the front-mounted flashlight attached to his weapon bathing the room in white light, revealing...
Nothing. The cubicle stood empty, apart from a surprisingly-pristine public toilet, complete with mirror, sink, and waste bin. Quickly checking behind the door, and finding an equal amount of nothing, Xavier's shoulders relaxed visibly. Clear, thought Xavier, as he turned and looked back to the girl, motioning her to enter the block.
He waited a moment until the girl entered, then reached out, pulling the large door shut, the hinges this time making no sound as it closed, leaving the room pitch-black, illuminated only by the two flashlights in the room. Backing suddenly away from the girl, he switched the setting on his flashlight to [ Bright ], aiming his weapon at her, his expression one of caution. Using his front hand, he released his hold on the weapon's grip attachment, pointing towards the cubicle corner at a direct diagonal from him. When he spoke, his voice was the same terse, to-the-point whisper, although it seemed to echo slightly in the small space.
Xavier: Alright, girl, stand over in that corner, and turn slowly in a circle -- then tell me: what's your name, why are you here alone, and have you been bitten? Quickly, because I don't want to spend too much time in here -- and make sure you keep your voice down when you answer the questions: too loud, and you'll attract attention, and you don't want to be stuck in this box if the infected hear your voice and swarm the building.
That said, he returned his hand to the grip attachment of his weapon, and stood attentively, his weapon aimed towards the girl, and his eyes searching her quietly for signs of blood, bites or other suspicious injuries.

"Keep it down until we reach a safe point, girl -- and try not to look behind you, unless you definitely think you hear something; it keeps your eyes off what should matter, which is where you're going, and what's ahead."
Jennifer snaps her gaze back to face front, her hands beginning to sweat from not knowing if they've been noticed yet. She notices that the man leads her to a small building that serves as a restroom. He gestures for her to wait, then he creeps up to the door and lithely enters the building through the front door.
The moans of the dead could be heard in the distance, in the direction of the tunnel entrance that Jennifer almost dashed into. Who am I kidding? I never would have made it. Good thing Mister Soldier found me... She looks around nervously, keeping her flashlight pointed down so as not to attract unwanted attention, and adjusts her purse. She is suddenly aware of the added weight that the full insulated bottle adds to it, but at this point she's glad for it.
Jennifer jumps when she is suddenly aware that the man has poked his head out through the entrance and gestures for her to follow. Moving as quietly as she can, she obliges, entering the small cubicle of a building even as he soundlessly closes the door behind her.
"I w-wanted to thank you for-" Jennifer whispers as she turns to face the soldier when she suddenly blinded by the intense beam of light from him, her right arm reflexively covering her face. Before her eyes can adjust, she is quite aware that he is aiming his gun at her and, with his other hand, quickly points at a corner of the room opposite of his position.
"Alright, girl, stand over in that corner, and turn slowly in a circle -- then tell me: what's your name, why are you here alone, and have you been bitten? Quickly, because I don't want to spend too much time in here -- and make sure you keep your voice down when you answer the questions: too loud, and you'll attract attention, and you don't want to be stuck in this box if the infected hear your voice and swarm the building."
Her expression fearful, though with a hint of resignation, she sighs, lowers her purse to the ground, and begins speaking, her voice matching his in volume, "Um, my n-name is Jennifer Waverly. I am - w-was - a student here at the university when... this whole thing started. I haven't been bitten since I managed to hide in the IT Department for a little while. I came here to try and find help or a way out to get help. My roommate and everyone else has been infected, so I've been on my own." She turns as she speaks. Her white jeans are smudged with dirt and grime, and her sky blue collared woman's shirt shows similar wear. Her sneakers, either quite new or well-maintained under normal circumstances, have a couple of dead leaves stuck within the blue laces. She lacks any make-up - or remnants thereof - and her hair looks as though it hasn't been brushed recently, though even in its current state, it still does well in enhancing her natural beauty.
After a couple of turns, Jennifer stops and faces the blinding light, squinting so as to lessen the pain in her eyes. "Um... is there something I can call you by?"

As the girl... Jennifer... continued to speak, Xavier finished his exterior check: doesn't look like there's any bites on her, he thought to himself, as he lowered his weapon slightly; besides, it's obvious that she's terrified -- seems she's telling the truth. As that thought crossed his mind, he lowered his weapon fully, and stepped forward, as Jennifer finished her turn and looked to him, speaking again.
Jennifer: Um... is there something I can call you by?
Offering a slight nod, Xavier removed his front hand from his weapon, extending it out towards her.
Xavier: You can call me Xavier -- also, you'll have to excuse me for what happened just before, Jennifer: in my profession, you don't live very long if you're not careful all the time, especially in a situation like this.
His hand still extended, he continued to look at her, waiting for her response.

Mister Soldier is hot! Say something, Jenny!
"-uh... Test! Yes." Averting her gaze slightly, her cheeks blush ever so slightly as she slowly withdraws her hand and reaches for her wrench and purse. "So... um... what do w-we do now, X-Xavier? Wait for your team to meet us...?" She places the wrench between her body and her right arm and starts to fidget with the bottom of her shirt, smoothing it out a little.

Alright team. I want this high and tight, I'll move down into the sewer first. Jefferson will follow, then MacKenzie and last but not least, you Caleb." Jared said before motioning for his team to move forward. MacKenzie sprinted infront of the group before crouching to the east of the manhole cover, Jared took west of the manhole. As they covered the two points of view, Caleb and Jefferson lifted the manhole.
As they did, the sounds of moaning interrupted the silence of the night. "Looks like it's time to go, Jared." Jefferson said in his usual tone of voice. The Squad leader nodded before turning to descend the ladder, leading to the depths of Raccoon City. Jared finally reached the bottom of the ladder, he looked up to his team.
"Alright, Jefferson, it's your turn to come down." He ordered.
"No can do sir, we are overran. We're going to have to retreat, we will try to locate you later, sir." Jefferson said as he began to move the manhole cover. Jared wasn't going to let his team die on him, instead of moving further into the sewer, he tried to climb the ladder. Before he could even start the manhole was sealed.
"Goddamn it! Listen to me Jefferson, you keep in contact with me the whole time we are separated...You hear me?" Jared shouted into his throat microphone. Instead of getting an answer, he got static. That was never a good sign, instead of worrying about his team, Jared turned on his rail mounted flashlight. It was silent until more moaning could be heard behind him.
Jared whipped around with his M4A1 shouldered. There was four infected humans, slowly making their way to him. He aimed his rifle at the closest infected's head. After squeezing the trigger, a bullet escaped the barrel and pierced the zombies head. If there was anyone in the sewer system, they would have heard that shot.

Jennifer: Nice to, um, meet you Xavier. I'm glad I passed the -- uh... test! Yes. So... um... what do w-we do now, X-Xavier? Wait for your team to meet us...?
Xavier sighed internally as he shook her hand, noting with slight exasperation the clandestine shirt-smoothing and the change in tone of her voice. Xavier was not a fool, but nor was he a venue for hubris: he was a handsome man... but this is not the time for it, he thought as he continued to look at her, his face a carefully-painted neutral to avoid revealing the thoughts beneath. Perhaps I should just take to wearing a balaclava, thought Xavier as he turned towards the door, which had been locked.
Xavier: Team? I was in here by myself until I ran into you, Jennifer -- it's going to be up to us to get back to --
His speech stopped suddenly, and his expression sharpened noticeably. Shots fired? Straining his ears in the hope of hearing a repeat shot, he heard nothing. Must have been my imagination, thought Xavier, as he slowly unlocked the latch, before bringing his weapon to bear. When he spoke next, his voice was still a hushed whisper, although the tone was far less severe.
Xavier: I'm going to be honest with you, Jennifer: I've been here for a few months, but I'm sure I don't know this area as well as you; do you have any thoughts as to the quickest route back to a safe zone? So long as you lead in front, I'll watch your back, and provide any fire if it's needed.
Stopping for a moment, his mind turned back to his instinct: perhaps a shot had been fired? Turning back to Jennifer, he spoke once more.
Xavier: You were heading towards the tube when I found you, right? Is that the quickest way out of here? And if so, is there an alternate entrance that may not be as crowded?

"Team? I was in here by myself until I ran into you, Jennifer -- it's going to be up to us to get back to --"
At first disappointed when he mentions that he is alone, his sudden silence and intense gaze at the door unnerves Jennifer as she takes up the wrench and holds it to her chest, unsure of what he may have heard. Her eyes swing to his hand as he reaches up to unlock the latch, then slowly pushes the door open. Moving cautiously, she hears Xavier whisper to her, his gun at the ready.
"I'm going to be honest with you, Jennifer: I've been here for a few months, but I'm sure I don't know this area as well as you; do you have any thoughts as to the quickest route back to a safe zone? So long as you lead in front, I'll watch your back, and provide any fire if it's needed."
She nods silently, her hands starting to shake slightly as she begins to step up in front of him when he continues whispering, almost as though it were an afterthought.
"You were heading towards the tube when I found you, right? Is that the quickest way out of here? And if so, is there an alternate entrance that may not be as crowded?"
Looking at his face, mostly veiled by the shadows of the night, Jennifer responds, her fear having now trickled into her whispered voice "I-I don't think there's any other way into the trains. I was hoping to find the trains s-still safe and running." She could make out the dark silhouettes of the waiting station in the distance, but everything else remains obscured in darkness.

Jared had successfully taken down one zombie but as he dispatched it two more took it's place. The sewer's was a bad place to enter, even for a trained operative. He fired three rounds blindly before moving further down the Sewer. The area that he was in was compact, it would be good for explosives but Jefferson had all of them.
As he retreated, his throat microphone picked up a transmission. "MacKenzie..cover the ......Caleb behind you...." That's all he heard before static completely cut them off. At least they were alive, Team Letum could hold their own too. More importantly, he had to watch his own back. Jared began to sprint further into the unknown but stopped every few seconds to fire three rounds into the crowed of Infected.

Day One: 0433 - 0440
Jennifer: I-I don't think there's any other way into the trains -- I was hoping to find the trains s-still safe and running.
Internally, Xavier shook his head: the chance that the subway system was still up-and-running was nigh on impossible; in fact, by now, the subway's probably a death-trap, thought Xavier to himself, as he then outwardly nodded in Jennifer's direction.
Xavier: So if you're sure that's the only way down into the tube, we'll have to take a different route to get to safety -- do you know any possible alterna --
This time it wasn't his imagination; His eyes narrowing slightly, Xavier quickly turned his head slightly to bring his ear into line with the face of the door, before angling his head towards the cold concrete floor. Definitely more shots, he thought, with a growing severity: intermittent, and from the sound of the shots, the same shooter and weapon. Turning back towards Jennifer, he began to speak, his words slow, calmly-delivered, and reassuring.
Xavier: Alright, Jennifer -- it seems we're heading into the tube after all -- and we'll have to go through those infected surrounding the entrance. Here -- take this.
Removing his front hand from his weapon, he reached swiftly into his pistol holster, drawing his FN Five-seveN in a quick motion. Flicking off the safety switch, he smoothly reversed the weapon, holding it out grip-first towards her.
Xavier: That wrench won't do you much good against that group near the tube entrance -- and definitely not down in the tube itself; this [ the handgun ] is easy to use: bring your target in between these two sighting posts... here... breath out slowly, grip the weapon tightly, and pull the trigger. Don't drop the weapon, always look before, during, and immediately after you pull the trigger, and never put your finger on the trigger unless you are going to immediately shoot at something. I'm also going to give you a couple of spare magazines: after twenty shots, press on this button on the side... here: it will release the magazine from the weapon; then put one of the new magazines in, but don't rush it: a part of the weapon will snap forward... it'll make a loud noise, but don't be afraid of it -- once it does that, you can fire again. If you need me to repeat any of that, Jennifer, now is the time.
Looking her in the eyes, it was clear to Xavier exactly how terrified she was: she's not prepared for this, thought Xavier as he continued to look at her, his features reassuring; still, she'll have to adjust fast if she wants to get back to safety. When next he spoke, his voice was a soft whisper, and markedly less urgent, and as he did so, he let his UMP45 fall to his side on its sling, using his other hand to pull out two handgun magazines from their pouches on his chest rug, holding them out with the Five-seveN.
Xavier: We don't have forever, Jennifer; but take a little bit of time... catch your breath, and ask any questions you might have about the handgun -- and when you're ready, take it [ the handgun ], these magazines, and then let me know you're ready to move.

"So if you're sure that's the only way down into the tube, we'll have to take a different route to get to safety -- do you know any possible alterna --"
This time she heard them too. A series of quick pops, doubtlessly quite loud if up close, but seemingly distant at this point.
"Alright, Jennifer -- it seems we're heading into the tube after all -- and we'll have to go through those infected surrounding the entrance. Here -- take this."
Xavier looks dead-serious as he gazes into her eyes and offers his handgun to her. Jennifer cannot help but stare at the gun; she had never once held anything even remotely resembling a gun in her life. Sure, she likes watching the occasional Hollywood action movie where the heroes and villains trade a total of hundreds of thousands of rounds, shells, thrown explosives, and even vehicles in an attempt to further the threadbare plot, but this?
She is suddenly aware of Xavier's voice as he gives her instructions on how to properly use the weapon. She absentmindedly stuffs the wrench into her right jeans pocket, the wider end threatening to simply drag the rest of it out if she were to find herself upside down. With the caution one usually reserves for a dangerously poisonous snake, she reaches forward and takes the gun, feeling the weight of it practically multiply three-fold when combined with her unease. He continues to give her quick instruction as she nods, her grip on the gun firm but awkward. When Xavier offers her two additional clips, she takes them as well, carefully placing her flashlight down to do so. Looking into her purse, she takes out the extra snack food she had stashed - placing them on the sink - and carefully places the clips in.
We don't have forever, Jennifer; but take a little bit of time... catch your breath, and ask any questions you might have about the handgun -- and when you're ready, take it, these magazines, and then let me know you're ready to move.
Looking into his eyes for a long moment, she eventually breaks eye-contact as she readjusts her purse. "I t-think I'll be okay. Best way to learn is to do, right?" She takes up the flashlight again with her left hand and, gesturing toward the abandoned snacks, says, "W-Want some? I don't think I'll be able to carry them now, and I don't have much appetite for processed sugar... anymore." He can see her gaze trailing off to look out the door, toward the waiting mass of dead eyes, gnashing teeth, and gripping hands, unseen in the darkness.

Day One: 0440 - 0448
Jennifer: I t-think I'll be okay. Best way to learn is to do, right?
It was with slight amusement -- easily-hidden -- that Xavier watched Jennifer take the handgun as though taking a live grenade, and the amusement only grew as he watched her fumble through the contents of her purse, stuffing her over-sized monkey wrench into it, whilst at the same time clearing room for the magazines by removing a large amount of snack food, laying the latter out neatly into the sink; it was slightly-comical, and a strange non-sequitur to an otherwise-tense situation. His features were of carefully-plastered neutrality as she [ Jennifer ] turned back towards him -- her handbag lopsided, and no doubt quite heavy when filled with the wrench -- and gestured toward the snack food, her expression one of fragile hope.
Jennifer: W-Want some? I don't think I'll be able to carry them now, and I don't have much appetite for processed sugar... anymore.
Unable to help himself, Xavier flashed her a lightning-fast grin, before turning back toward the door and raising his UMP45, its flashlight attachment pooling light on the closed door immediately in front of him. When next he spoke, his voice had lost whatever traces of merriment had briefly shown on his face: it was serious and clipped, although no longer possessing any traces of hostility. Using his front hand to gesture towards the door, he returned it to his weapon's grip attachment, and began to speak.
Xavier: Appreciated, Jennifer -- but I have some food of my own -- alright, get ready: when I open this door, I want you to follow me, quickly and quietly; we're going to be heading back the way we came, and we're going to stop just out of sight of the group moving near the tube entrance. Understood?
With that said, he used his front hand to quickly change the flashlight's setting on his weapon to [ Dim ], then aimed his weapon towards the floor, pushing open the door; the colder temperature rushed past him in a wave, but, ignoring it, Xavier began to proceed with a swift stride back down the path from which they'd come only twenty-or-so minutes ago. As he moved, he raised his weapon at constant, but irregular intervals, scanning the darkness to his front for possible threats, before aiming his weapon back towards the ground. Looks clear for the most part, thought Xavier, as he continued to move, his actions ones of automatic surety and skill; perhaps we should just stay here: this seems to be the most threat-empty place in the city right now! Cutting short his thoughts as he arrived near the tube entrance, Xavier immediately went down into a crawl, before looking back to Jennifer and motioning her to do the same. As he began to speak, his voice was soft, almost-to-the-point of inaudibility; at the same time, his front hand, now free, began to move toward a small pouch on his chest rig...
Xavier: When you hear the explosion, don't hesitate: get to your feet, and move down the steps into the tube; I'll be right behind you. Also, if your torch doesn't have a dim setting, turn it off: down in the darkness of the tube, it'll only serve to draw unneeded attention, got it? Get ready -- fire in the hole!
Raising himself to his knees, he withdrew a round object, removing something from its bulk, and throwing it forward, into the crowd of infected still mingling near the tube entrance some eight-to-ten meters away. Throwing himself back slightly, to come to rest next to Jennifer, he flattened himself again, throwing his free arm over her head to press it roughly into the ground. Up here on the raised platform, we'll avoid the blast, but the infected, they --
The sound of the explosion ripped through the dark skies of the early morning like a beacon, and even from a relatively-safe position, Xavier could feel the shock of the blast surge through him. With any luck, those lads down below would have heard that, thought Xavier to himself as he quickly rose to his feet, his free hand grabbing the back of Jennifer's shirt to raise her also, before gripping his weapon with both hands, and bearing forward, his pace rapidly increased; his voice was a shout, all thought of stealth and low voices forgotten in the immediate aftermath of such a loud noise... and perhaps attributable to his proximity to the explosion.
Xavier: Move now!
