Zack listened to the conversation between the sailor and the marine. If he was in any other situation, he would have shaken both of their hands. It's one of those times where chivalry and niceties aren't really necessary. He noticed the woman eye his badge and sit a good distance from him; he had the eye of a detective, so he noticed small details in mundane surroundings.
"Does anybody have a phone I can use for a second?"
Zack leaned forward and pulled his PDA out of his back pocket and leaned over to the woman asking for a cell phone, presenting the device in his right hand.
"Here, miss." He spoke in a soothing tone, the words rolling off his tongue.

Xanthira closed her eyes for a moment and rested her head against the glass. She was kind of hoping that the train would take off before those creeps from the mafia showed up. She bit her lip as she opened her eyes and climbed to her feet. She took one of the hand railings and turned to so she could see the platform outside the window. If those goons showed up while she was here they would take out everyone in the car. So one thing was for sure if even one of the popped their head she had to make a run for it. One thing she had always hated was getting innocent people mixed up in her affairs, or even getting them hurt because of it. Though her eyes drifted toward the detective. Her mind reeling on what his specialty was in his field. She grinned slightly before turning to look back out the window.

"Marine, right?" A voice near him said.
Thorton looked over to the source of the voice, seeing the drunk who seemed to have sobered up quite a bit in the 20 or so minutes they had had to wait for and board the unexpected train.
"I'm in the Navy. Name's Vince." The man said, his hand extended for a shake. Thorton cracked a grin and took Vince's hand in a firm and hearty shake. At least the guy was Navy. Could have been worse, end up with the baby Marines or some birth control b*tches, formally known as the Army or Air Force pilots. Navy wasnt as bad, in his book. Hell, they eliminated the need for the Air Force a lot of the time. Plenty of pilots in the US military were Navy. And they taxied the Marines around to boot. Cant do any killing if you dont have a ride, that was for sure.
"Thorton." He said, figuring this would be enough of a greeting. "What brings an obviously straight laced deck swabbin' sum b*tch like you to my neck of the woods?" Thorton said, his joking tone obvious. Normally, you didnt insult a perfect stranger, but these were special circumstances. They were kind of like cousins, removed because of way too many problems in the family.

"Thorton." The man said. "What brings an obviously straight laced deck swabbin' sum b*tch like you to my neck of the woods?"
"Well, Navy ordered me to keep an eye on you Jarheads. Make sure you don't kill any babies or somethin'," Vince laughed. "Nah, I'm actually just visiting my family before I get shipped out. Getting stationed in Japan for a few years, so I don't see myself getting a lot of chances to come back to the states. How 'bout you? You just enjoyin' the blues and pizza or what?"
As Vince said this, he realized he really had to go to the bathroom.
"Excuse me for a moment," Vince said with a grin. "That beers running straight through me."
After making it about halfway through th next car (the bathroom was about two cars away), the train budged, nearly sending Vince on the floor.
"Hm...maybe we're not alone," Vince sighed, steadying his balance. The train continued to accelerate before it hit full speed.
Vince finally made it into the bathroom and began to relieve himself. The head was pretty nice. Had some type of perfume, flowers, and the toilet wasn't nasty either.
Everything was going fine, until he turned on the sink. A nasty, brown/red liquid came out and spilled into the sink like sludge.
"Jesus," Vince laughed disgustedly, covering his nose with his arm. "Maybe we do have to stop pollution."
He reached forward to turn the sink off, when the train came to a sudden halt.
"God d@mmit!" Vince hissed after being tossed forward and hitting his head against the wall. He wondered why the train had stopped. It was possible they were picking up more passengers, but why had it stopped so suddenly.
Then, something that truly made Vince nervous happened. The lights shut off.
"What the f**k is going on?" Vince muttered, looking around the bathroom. The place was pitch black. No light coming in from outside, no light on the inside. It was like he was sitting at the bottom of a canyon.
"Hello? Hello!" Vince yelled as loud as he could before going stock still. He could hear a strange, clicking on the roof above him, like an animal or something was crawling around on top. Vince flicked his pocket knife open and gripped it tightly.
The clicking eventually disappeared but was replaced by a loud crash from the next car. The car in between him and the others.
Vince didn't even say anything. Those windows were too thick for any animal he knew to jump through. He could only hope that a tree had fallen through the window or something.

Pepper grabbed the PDA and smiled back, "Thanks." She suddenly paused and reached back into her backpack. She forgot Elliot's phone number again. She pulled out her notebook and turned to the second page. The number was at the very top, right above Carol's number. She dialed in the number and waited for three rings until Elliot picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi, it's me. I just got onto the train."
"The train? Wasn't it supposed to leave almost a half hour ago?"
"Ummm...it did, but..."
"Oh God, Pepper. Don't tell me you got lost again."
"It was an accident. The main roads were blocked off so I had to find a new way around to the train station."
"Is this train at least going to the right destination?"
"Ummm...maybe?"
"Pepper!"
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. I'm not alone. I'll be home soon, but don't tear the streets looking for me. Love ya lots."
"Likewise, Babe."
Pepper ended the call there and handed the PDA back. She felt a little better about making the call. "Thanks a bunch." she said to Zack as she handed the PDA back. She suddenly stopped when she heard the crash from the next car. Something wasn't right. She had a feeling.

Thorton had smirked when the sailor had taken off to the head, wanting to remark that if he spent so much time around water, why couldnt he hold his own? He'd save the jab for when Vince got back. In the meantime, he had time to study everyone in the car. Looked like a kid going home, maybe a tourist because of the backpack. And the fact that she had been looking at a map at the platform. A uniformed cop without a duty carry or much else on his belt. But he did have a pry bar... The f**k?! Was Chicago that much in debt? Holy hell... Some guy in a long rain coat, flashing a badge on purpose or accident, Thorton wasnt sure. Gold shield, detective grade of some kind. Probably homocide or sex crimes, from the way he was dressed. Those kinds always tried to look like the ones on TV. A woman wearing a bow next fell into his view. A bow... and not much else. What the f**k kind of train did he step onto? Maybe it would have been better to have stayed at the platform and waited for the morning train.
Eh, too late for that. He was just bored anyway, his calculating mind wandering for no reason, taking in his surroundings and inputing stupid s*** where ever it applied.
Thorton was almost tossed out of his seat by the sudden stop, sliding down one place and smacking into the rail with a thud and a growl of displeasure. He snapped back to the here and now, his train of thought shattered, and looked around the car. Nothing out of the ordinary, no emergency lights or sounds coming off. Usually there were small indicator lights, meaning something was wrong. At least in all the commuter trains he had ever been on. He wasnt seeing anything to indicate a problem, but still... it felt... bad. And he knew all about bad feelings.
The crash sounded from the car over, and he stood up to have a look into the car. He couldnt see anything, but... Darkness. Lights had gone out in the next car. Very out of place. Without a second thought, he slid the door to the side and then the next one, taking a slow and cautious step into the car that the noise had come from.

Zack reached out and snatched the PDA back from the woman who he let borrow it. He glanced at it quickly and stood up, bending over and slipping the cell phone into his back left pocket. As soon as he began to sit back down, a large crash tore through the silence. Zack was jostled from his seat forward and he luckily caught himself on the other side of the cabin. He straightened up and moved his right hand to his side, hovering over his holster as he stepped forward. His heart was beating out of his chest- what sort of object could do that kind of damage to such a train as the one he was in?
He watched as the Marine stepped forward and he sighed. His right index finger slipped off the leather strap on his Sig and he rested his palm on the grip and cautiously moved behind the Marine.
"No red lights.. No announcement... 'Ya ever seen anything like this?" He said, heading into the cabin of the car the noise came from alongside the man from before; his eyes couldn't adjust fast enough to compesate and the only light he had was on the rail of his pistol.

Xanthira was knocked back into onto the bench as the car rocked from the crash. She sat there rubbing the back of her head as she looked toward the door. She glared at it expecting something to come bursting threw it, and knowing well enough that one of the passengers were on the other side. She tilted her head as if in thought before climbing to her feet and practically standing by the Marine at the time. She let her body blade as if in a defensive stance. Her eyes gazing wearily at the door. "There should be nothing around the track to do that, unless someone completely drove threw it," she said as she looked lightly toward the cop. "But even then that would be slim to none."

After he had waited for a couple minutes (and until the "clicking" sound had disappeared), Vince grabbed the handle and went to open the door.
"You gotta be kiddin' me," Vince muttered, jiggling the handle. It wouldn't open.
"Come on you son-of-a-b!tch!" Vince yelled, as he pulled on the handle harder and harder. Finally, he realized what the problem was. He had forgotten to unlock.
Once he had opened the lock (and cursed himself a couple dozen times), Vince walked into the car the bathroom was in. It was pitch black (along with the next car), but he could see a light coming from the car where everyone else was. He could also see a few people in the windowframe.
Vince walked (after lighting his lighter) through the connecting passage of the two cars (which, luckily, was under cover) and entered the next car. As soon as he made it into the next car, however, his lighter was blown out by the wind.
"God d@mmit," he muttered, shoving the lighter into his pocket before taking a step forward. As he put down his foot, a wet, sloshing sound could be heard and a warm, wet sensation enveloped his leg up to mid-calf.
Vince looked down at the ground, but couldn't see what he stepped in. He pulled out his phone and began to bend down when the lights flickered back on. There, in front of his face (and the object he had stepped in) was a corpse. But not just a normal corpse, it had been viciously mutilated. The skin had been ripped from its face, eyes torn out, chest ripped open, and disembowled.
"Jesus f**kin' Christ!" Vince exclaimed, falling backwards as he tried to step out of the much but got caught. He crawled backwards until he came up against the door leading into the next car and raised himself up. He stared at the body for a long time. This had obviously been what had broken the window, but how? Either he had jumped or been thrown through, but, either way, who could have enough strength to either jump through a train window or throw someone through one?

Eric noticed the man in uniform looking at him, pretending not to notice, he stood up and strecthed out his back. The train halted and he lost his balance. Leaning backward to cancel out his sudden push forward, he mumbled something to himself again. "Stupid people gotta learn to drive a train." The soldier and the detective were crowded in front of the door, which made him think something was wrong. Giving the men some room, he stood behind them and adjusted his grip on the crowbar. He cast a backwards glance at the women to make sure they were ok, then shifted his gaze towards the windows. Great, just what I need, I'm late, then a creepy train comes, it breaks down, and I have no idea where I am. He heard a man, then a thud, which immediately set Eric's mind reeling. That man wasn't that drunk.

Thorton let the cop take the lead into the next car, coming up close behind him as his eyes followed the tac light on the detective service weapon. He hadnt seen many cops who did that, attached a light to their weapons, but it was always a good idea. Eliminated the need for a larger and heavier flashlight.
For the time being, he kept his own weapon in its holster. The cop pulling his gun was a natural thing. A technical civilian who was holding an illegal concealed weapon pulling it with two cops in the car was a bad idea. They made their way into the car and looked for the sailor. Nothing in here, and what was worse, it was totally black. Again, no emergency lights or anything. The detective made a mention of this, and Thorton silently nodded. They were on the same page, it seemed.
Thorton stepped foreward, past the officer, and to the next door. The detective seemed concerned with checking everything. He was just concerned with finding the sailor. This place was already giving him a bad feeling. He made his way to the door, openeing the one to the car he was in, but not the next. He could already see the sailor, his back pressed to the door. He seemed to be looking at something, but Thorton could make out anything passed a foot or so away in the darkness.
He pounded his fist against the glass of the door, trying to get the attention of Vince, just so the sailor would move so the door could be opened.

(Sorry, it's a short one, but I don't got a lot of time.)
Vince started as someone pounded on the door. His heart stopped racing (a little) when he saw Thornton and the cop standing on the other side of the door.
Realizing he was blocking the door, Vince moved off in between two booths so the two men could come in.
"Can you f**kin' believe it?" Vince muttered, pointing to the body. "A f**kin' dead body....And not just dead, it's f**kin' mutilated!"
Vince shook his head and looked up at the cop.
"You ever see anything like this before?" Vince asked, hoping the cop would say "Yeah". "I mean, look at what they did to him!"

Zack stepped forward, following the marine and then moved in front of him, surveying the surroundings and taking note of any small discrepancies. As soon as his flashlight landed on the window with the man's back to it, he stepped aside, allowing the Marine to knock on the door. The Sailor turned around with a look of relief on his face and stepped aside. The man before him opened the door and moved aside, letting Zack further in. The detective knelt down, placing the hand with the gun on it on his knee, positioning the flashlight on the corpse. His other hand moved to hover over the dead body. His eyes darted and scanned the corpse.
"Yeah... Superficial wounds on the neck.. Obvious signs of mutilation, facial lacerations, large amounts of skinning and even signs of ritualistic behavior.." Zack stood up, letting his gun hang to his side, "I had a case like this a few weeks back. Similar, but more detailed and specific. This seems like it's consistent of repeated assault."
He sighed a bit, his nose hair would be burning if he wasn't trained to ignore the smell of a fresh corpse. He was surprised the other men hadn't vomited or at least held their breath at the sight. Desensitization was obviously rampant. He walked a few paces forward, stepping around the body and lifting his pistol forward with both hands, moving the light around the car as he made his way down the isle...
(Go ahead and say what I find, since it's your RP Eric, and since Zack's the only one with the flashlight.)

Xanthira stepped back away from the door so that she wasn't crowding in on a situation she didn't need to get involved with. She took a couple of steps back, and leaned up against a pole. It wasn't her place to get involved in this situation, and who knows what would happen if she did. She already had a situation with Mafia she didn't need one with the cops. She sighed a bit as she folded her arms and watched the men in the other car work. Though she couldn't help but let her mind ponder on the situation that was happening. Wrong train, dead body, and emptiness. Something wasn't right, but she couldn't figure it out. In all her travels, and everything she has done and been threw this was the strangest.

When the car moved, Pepper had to grab onto something just to prevent her head from hitting the back of the wall. It seemed that everyone was going to the door to try and figure out what the cause of the problem, though one of them, the other female, refused to go inside the actual car.
Pepper couldn't help herself to see the body that everyone was talking about. It was messed up, but she had to see what everyone was so freaked out about. Though she didn't completely step inside, she poked her head inside the next car to listen to what was going on. When she heard Zack saying, "Superficial wounds on the neck.. Obvious signs of mutilation, facial lacerations, large amounts of skinning and even signs of ritualistic behavior.." she poked her head back into the original car, where the other female stood. She didn't want to see the body unless she absolutely had to.
Pepper turned towards the other female and asked, "So, what do you think is going on exactly?"
