It was the only thing that made sense. John knew that Rey could take care of things himself, yet still he found reason to help her. The guy was covered in blood, and looked like hell, didnt really need to be. On some level, John mustve enjoyed what he did, just as much as she enjoyed it. There was something satisfying about killing, there always was. Rey was never one to go looking for a fight, but when there was an opportunity, she took it. After reaching the house, the girl she didnt know came running out to meet him. Madison seen Susie and John kiss, which definitely caught her offguard, but she was more interested in the reunion right now. Rey stayed on the patio with Madison, while the other two went inside. Madison wanted to talk, to get answers, but this wasnt the time. Leaning inside the doorway, she motioned for Joseph to come out. "Hey, come on outside."
With a knife wound in his knee, the kid wasnt going anywhere on his own, he could be controlled without being tied up. The walker pit was to rattle him up for John, to make him realize this wasnt a game they were playing, that if they were going to come at them, they weere going to lose. John wouldve sent the same message, which is why he felt a little backed into a corner when the girls didnt like his methods. Thats when Madison came and called him over. Much as he wanted to stay and watch John kick around the kid, Joseph wanted to see his daughter, whether she wanted to see him or not.
"You two are crazy, man! She came after us, not the other way around!..." The kid spoke in a stuttering voice, but calmed himself once he realized John was going to listen, and not try and feed him to any biters. He seemed a little more rational, but stills cared the hell out of him. "My uncle was doing a run when she attacked him and his group. He got away, called it in, and we tracked her back to town. She stole our supplies, probably stashed it somewhere here. We werent all here looking for her, it was for that stash, our stuff, ya know. F***, man, ask her yourself, I dont wanna kill you. We thought she was in this place, not you." The kid was telling the truth, Madison could read him pretty well, and knew John could to. There was no way hed lie after all this. Which was the worst part, because it meant Rey was the culpret, not them, and they were just doing what the needed to survive.
The blood all over John was a sure sign that he and Rey did go back and kill the rest of his people. Once the kid realized this, he was going to panic, and what little he had left in this world would be broken. Suddenly, a lot of mixed feelings about Rey came over her, and she questioned herself as to whether or not she was the kind of person she wanted to become. But she wasnt a psychopath. Neither was her father. There had to be something missing, some sort of rational explaination for this. Madison only hoped so, because this would split them up.
~~~
Outside, the rain started to fall even harder, and the patter on the roof started getting harder. It was a colder rain, too. which meant that within another couple of weeks, the snow would be here. Rey knew this town would be a great place to hold out for the winter. It was close enough to the highway, spread apart, and surrounded by trees so hunting was still an option. Most of the houses had been looted, but whatever was left remained stored up, either by her or the deceased group. Reys thought process had been interupted when she seen the man step outside. Now taking more than a glance of time to see his face, she knew for sure it was him. But she didnt hug him, or say anything, just stare at his face. The scars, his missing eye, he looked like somebody else. So many questions, but nothing came out.
"I never thought id see you again." For the first time in forever, Joseph had gotten emotional. It seemed a lot of things that were bottled up, just went away. He felt unguarded, and it was a bad feeling, but it didnt seem to matter. Looking at her face, really taking the time see see her, she looked grown up now. Scars of her own, but still pretty as ever. Her lack of smile made things clear that she wasnt exactly happy to see him, though. "I can leave, if you want. Im not dead. Dont plan on it. Too smart for that. You dont need to worry about me. Where is she? Is she here too?" Rey assumed that she wasnt, but had to ask.
"No, shes not. Shes not here. I promise."
Rey had attacked them. Unlikely but not in the realm of impossibility. John grabbed the kid by his shirt again and threw him into the couch, breaking it's legs. Then he picked him back up, and slammed him into the wall. John had managed to get him between two studs in the wall, basically putting him into the wall. "I don't believe ya fer a second. One girl ain't just gonna attack a group a guys. No matter how much better of a fighter she is than yer group. So what'd ya do to her before she attacked ya?" John asked, his fist raised and the kid totally at his mercy. Susie couldn't watch John be the monster he had to be. She knew if it wasn't for him, she would be either dead or worse, but she didn't have to stay and like the way he was acting.
She walked away from everyone. She couldn't even begin to understand Joseph and Rey's relationship. She didn't want to be part of John's actions. She thought it was best to be away from both scenes going on to the back porch. This was her only mistake. If she had stayed within someone's eyesight. Just as wiggly as she had sat on the steps, something hard hit her across the face. Then she wasn't there anymore. Her brain had shut off and she was at someone's mercy. And nobody had seen her get taken.
Something wasn't right. John felt something change. He turned and looked out the front door. He didn't see Susie with the other three. He then dragged the kid to the back and saw the struggle and footprints in the mud. "Who else is with you?!" He asked the kid but the kid shook his head and said nobody. "Maddie, Rey, someone took Susie!" John shouted to the front. He didn't even bother making sure the kid would stay before he took off. He ran as he tried to see the next footprint. After running through the backyards of some of the houses he saw a car take off down the street. He tried to follow it but after it took two turns was gone.
The darkness lifted from her eyes as she became conscious again. She was sitting in a chair with her wrists and ankles tied to it. When she looked around age saw her captor. The man they missed at the factory. The soldier's leader. His gentle tone of voice and polite smile concealed his evil, angry behavior. Susie was afraid because she didn't know what he was going to do to her. Her jaw already ached and her head was still fuzzy. By the looks of a few of the men, he hadalready started forming a new army. It was strange how one man was able to convince countless thugs to fight for him. He must have been recruiting them when John attacked the factory. "You should have just listened to me. Now I'm going to kill your new friends in front of you." He said before slapping her with he back of his hand. They left the room she was in, leaving her alone in the dark.
The commotion coming from inside the house was enough to cause the pair to stop talking. John was getting answers, but they were answers that didnt really matter. The people were all dead, they had all the supplies they needed, things were good. "You can save the whole father daughter speech. You werent good at those anyway." Without getting a chance, even if he wanted to, Joseph heard the tires squeel. Not long after, John hollered that Susie had been missing. Running back into the house, observed the situation, but was clearly missing something. John sounded like he just ran, so taking a guess, she was the one in the car.
Rey was the one to speed things along. She owed John a favor after helping her with her problem, now she had to help him. "Come on, we have a better shot at tracking the vehicle while the tire prints are still fresh. The longer we wait, the harder the rain is gonna make it for us." John wouldve already knew this, but was gathering some things first. They didnt know where they were going, or how long they would be, but everybody was in this together now. If John was going, Madison was too. If Rey was going, Joseph was too.
"No sense going on foot. That hatchback we brought here will work.", Joseph added. It was one thing after another, no time to rest. Never any time to rest. All the quarrels that had could be put on hold for now. There was more important things at stake here. Rey was the first one to the rig, and jumped into the passenger side, starting the engine before John and the others were even in to save them time.
John ran back through the house. Sliding across the hood of the car like the Files of Hazard, he was in the car quickly. This time stealth wasn't part of the plan. If he caught the person who took her, his screams were going to be louder than and gunshots that night. But the weather was against the group. As was luck. The rain picked up and the wet tire marks quickly disappeared and she was lost again. John could drive around the entire town and never find her. Whoever took her did so carelessly but got lucky getting away. John slammed on the brakes once the trail was totally lost and shouted at the steering wheel. No words. Just pure anger coming from the deepest pit of his soul. Then he turned back to everyone in the car. "Somebody took her. There were footprints comin' up. Then somethin' happened n then the footprints walked away." He said as he tried to figure out a plan.
Paul stood with his four new recruits. All of them, scarred, tattooed, and vicious. The only reason they followed him was because he promised an easy safe life with all the food, drink, and women they could hope for. But he was smarter than them and something different to fear. He was the cruelest, most vicious, man they would meet. "Alright boys, what I need out of ya is for this plan to work to avenge your fallen comrades. We can secure this town as our own, but not if there is a murderer here too. We took his girlfriend so we have the upper hand. Now let's go find some friends to help us." He said with a new thought in mind. He saw the man throwing the kid around. The kid was sure to help them. Then they needed to outnumber the other group so there wouldn't even be a contest. Once outnumbered the group would be killed in seconds.
"We can't go back to the house. They know we were there. We have to find somewhere else to park." John said as he rested his head on the wheel. He was running on fumes and needed to sleep. It would be hard with an uneasy mind but it was something he needed to do. In the morning, they could search the town for the car. If it was even still here. He pulled into a garage of a home. Pulling the door down concealed the car they were sure to be recognized for. Then he went inside to try to sleep so that he could find Susie by the next day. But his dreams and mind weren't going to make it easy on him at all. Sleep wasn't going to come easily.
Susie sat in the dark, scared and alone. She had run out of tears and just sat there. Whenever the man came back in, it was to just hit her again. He was cruel and only wanted to cause pain. After a myriad of times Susie could finally see the sun coming up and that the rain had stopped, between the door opening and closing. The only thing going through her mind was that John casted for her too. He had showed her before this happened. And he was going to make this guy pay dearly for taking her. It was the only strength she had left. But this guy was going to cause a war between the two groups.
The frustrsating part wasnt onlt that they had taken their friend without anybody even noticing, but the fact that they did it without being tracked. Both Rey and John had looked extensively, and werent able to make heads or tails of a direction. Joseph wouldve helped, but his vision made his tracking ability almost pointless, he really had lost the skill, especially since most of the evidence they could even use wouldve been washed away at this point. Madison wasnted to say something helpful, and positive, but knew that it wouldnt help anything. She understood Johns anger, and knew it was best to just let him be, and wait for him to talk.
He was right, they couldnt go back, not now. It was too risky. If one person knew where they were going to hold up, then it was a matter of time before others. Even if one person on watch, the house wouldnt have been safe, not if they were out numbered. Rey was content with the garage, it would work, but she still felt uneasy. She was the youngest of them all, and put the offer on the table. "Ill take watch. Im still wide awake." Joseph nodded, and Madison wasnt really in the mood for thinking against a plan. If this was what she wanted to do, then its what happened. Somebody needed to be on watch, and she seemed willing to do so. John was already trying to calm himself down and rest, which meant he accepted the offer. Rey smiled at Madison, as if to ease her in some way, but it was unnoticed. Joseph seen it, and it was the perfect thing he could fall asleep on.
This time of year, daylight fell quickly, but it rose even quicker. They only had another few hours until the sun broke out, or at least tried to with the way the rain was coming down. But actualy light would be enough for them to pick up the tracks, if they split up. Not all parts of the road had been hit with the heavy rain, and the dense forest around them made things a little easier. If they did leave town, they couldve only went a few directions. Figuring out with one would be the challenege, but once they did, the lead would take them right where they needed to be.
A connection between the garage and the house made going back and forth easy. Rey took watch from the window, waiting for signs of anybody to come around. She constantly monitored the ground around the house, looking for any signs of intrusion, and made sure she did it without giving herself away. If somebody was watching, they wouldve already seen them pull up, but she wanted to be certain she wasnt the cause. Under any other circumstance, nobody wouldve been able to pull this off had it not been raining. It was the reason for all of this, whether part of their plan, or not. Or at least she hoped so. If it turned out to be some sort of retlaliation from the group she and John executed, then all of this wouldve rested on her shoulders. She wanted to make sure that if it came to that, she could make it up, and give John the opportunity to do what he felt he eneded to do to the man who took Susie.
It had been a few days since Bobby had seen another living person. The last being his friend who got bit by an eater. He walked on the sidewalk, despite there never being cars, with his pump action shotgun draped across his shoulders and his hands resting on it. He had seen a man going into a house on the other side of town, but the man didn't see him. But he was seen later on when a girl with a bow had it aimed at him. "Woah, man! Chill!" He said as he raised his hands as a sign of surrender. He didn't like being at the wrong end of people's weapons.
His blonde hair and beard were still wet from the rain. His blue eyes stared at Rey over very dark ring. His black band tee was damp and strained with some blood. His camo pants had seen better days and were tucked into his black steel toe boots. Which were also worn down. His pistol was tucked into a belt designed to hold shotgun shells which was half full. He turned to the door when John came out to see who was shouting. "Hey, man, I ain't looking for trouble. I just need food. I ain't had nothing in days." He said as he offered his guns to John as a peace offering. John wasn't about to play too nice but the man needed food by the look on his face. John took the guns from him and motioned for him to follow.
Placing a can of ravioli and a spoon he took on the table, John took a seat at the table. "Once ya finish that, you can get goin'." John said as he sat across the man. Before he had even sat down the pull tab on the can was already off. "Oh, thanks man. Yeah I'll get out of your hair once I'm done. How long have you guys been here? You guys are the first ones I've seen in days. Well besides the guy going into that house across town." John's attention was instantly undivided. There hadn't been anyone else in the town except them and the kid. By the guy's language, it wasn't the kid.
"Where? Can ya show us?" John said as the man nodded at John. "Sure. For another can." Bobby bartered but John already had another can on the table as he finished his sentence. Then when Bobby got up from the table, taking the can and spoon with him, he saw how many people were actually in the house. A man looking like he went through the bowels of Hell, only to be sh*t out on the other side, and a good looking brunette who was missing part of one of her arms. He lingered a little on her before giving her a friendly smile. He had seen a whole lot of survivors these days, and he just figured it was something his old group had tried to do. One of the eaters got her and they cut off the bit part. His old group had tried it with a man's leg but he died later from a blood clot or fat something. He remembered the doctor telling him it could have been either but he didn't remember the second half of the fat one.
"Let's get goin'." John said as they started walking to the car. Bobby just assumed they had one stashed in the garage and followed John. "Name's Bobby by the way. Last names don't matter much these days so I'll spare you guys." He said as he climbed into the passenger's seat. He looked at each person as they climbed into the car, seeing each for how unique they each were. He was starting to like this group and he had spent less than an hour with them. He guided John to the house, which happened to be the one they came from and had the car that took Susie parked in the driveway. John then turned to Bobby to let him know they were even. "Thanks Bobby. We helped you n you helped us. We're even n you shouldn't get mixed up in our problems."
But Bobby want having any of it. "No way, dude, you guys could have just left me to die. I ain't leaving you guys to die." He said add he checked to make sure his shotgun was loaded. Then John turned to the rest of the car. "It's gotta be a trap though." John said but Bobby was already thinking up a plan. He also had seem too man episodes of Cops and cop movies, and had been trained to do this sort of thing. "We'll rush the house. Come in from the front and back and ambush the ambush." He explained to the group. But it wasn't about to be that easy for them.
Susie watched the guards. While she had been sitting there, more men had come to work for Paul. She didn't know where all these people were coming from but things were about to go very poorly. The men keeping an eye on her were new and it looked like most of them had left with Paul. She didn't know where they were going but it couldn't be good for anyone. All she knew was that they were going somewhere else to make it hard for anyone to find her.
Paul sat in a chair in the living room of the house John's group had left last night. The room still smelled of blood but it didn't bother him. He had nine men with him and ten guarding Susie. It was going to be an ambush if they went to either locations. Paul knew they would find his car at the house and so he set them up. Having the only other running car made it easy to hear them coming. He was going to make them pay, but not quickly with a shootout.
When the morning came, Joseph had realized that he was the only one left inside the car. Really mustve been a lot more tired then he thought, which was understandable given his age and recent imprisonment. Stepping out of the hatchback, he went for the side door, not worrying about his bag. The only two things he needed were his pistol, and knife. As she stepped outside, it was easy to tell it still had been raining, although a little softer then the night before. Judging by the looks of things, the group didnt go anywhere, and only stuck around the place they parked. No doubt John was trying to track where the car went, but nobody was in eyeshot, so it was all just a guess.
"Why dont you tell me why youre really here.", Rey spoke out from the balcony of the house to the ground. In that instant, she jumped the railing, and landed down into the driveway, rolling her momentum before standing in front of Joseph. "You sure did ciome all this way for me." Joseph knew that Rey was smart to be lied to, or have anything hidden from here, which in some cases, was just as bad as lying. "Bout a month ago, I got a message from Richard, said there was a lot of... Activity..." Then things started to make sense. "You lost her, didnt you?" He dodged the question, it was irrellivant at this point. "...Then he told me you were in town. I thought she mightve tried to find you."
The truth came out. "So you dont even know if shes here or not, do you?" The question didnt need to be answered, they both knew howe unpredictable she was. Neither of them had been more unsure than the other. The reunion happened, one way or another. "But once I knew you were close, I didnt want to do anything other than find you. Nothing else mattered. Thats the honest truth. I dont want you to leave again, you dont have to. Not not, not tomorrow, not unless you want." Joseph had been getting emotional again. There was something about being a father that she just wouldnt truely understand, and she wasnt raised to understand it. "Yeah, okay, whatever you say." Rey walked away from him before he got teary eyed, or something, but truthfully, she really was happy to see him.
Madison stayed with John. She liked watching him track, it seemed like no matter how long she watched him for, he was still seeing things that she just didnt. Though she would learn more if she asked questions, she didnt want to bother him, and figured when the time came, she would learn. They didnt go very far before running into a survivor. Madison didnt speak to him, just let John do the talking, he handled it. Rey showed up as well, which made things under control, even if the guy was lying. When John and the survivor had been going back to the car, she spoke to her. "You see this guy before?" Figuring Rey had been around here for awhile, she would know of the survivor activity. "No." The simple asnwer was all that was needed to make sure things didnt go south before they even had a chance.
Taking in new people wasnt really what she preferred, but Madison was definitely up for it, especially if she had information about Susies disappearing, and the fact John trusted him. Rey didnt care either way, she just wanted to find their friend, kill who needed to be killed, and set things right before it got too cold. If they were going to be fighting again, she was up for it, and seeing how spry her father was looking, Joseph wanted in on the action too.
John rushed back to his people with Bobby who John pointed in the direction of the gear they had taken over the last few days. A bulletproof vest was going to come in handy. Bobby slid it over his torso and saw another valuable tool the knife in the sheath attached to the best. A seven inch blade straight knife he instantly recognized. Seeing the new comer easily seeing himself up, John came to recognize the tattoos on Bobby's arms. Military and anti Middle East covered the open skin he was showing, but could be hidden under a uniform. "Time to rock and roll, man." He said to John as he filled the empty spots on his belt with shells.
John had got the attention of the group and was trying to see who was in, but by the looks on their faces everyone was in. Bobby was willing to help because this guy took their friends and they helped him. "Alright, seems y'all are with me. So we gotta get him n find out where Susie is." He said as he headed to the car. Bobby was right behind John as they loaded up. He didn't mind taking the back seat either. He was just ready to help. Once in the car, he showed something about himself no one was expecting. Pulling up his right pant leg, he showed them he had a prosthetic leg which he checked to make sure was secure before going into the fight. It was a metal rod which was attached to a holder at his knee which his boot was attached to.
He winked at Madison when she saw it and confided in her. He knew what she went through but she had it worse since the world was worse than when he lost his leg. "We should get you some sweet set up for your hand. Maybe somethin' with a blade on the end?" He said half joking because there was no reason to always be dark about things. That's how he still lived after recovering from his injury, which made things easier for him after the world went down. He let his pant leg cover his leg. The less the enemy knew, the less of an advantage they would have. "Only thing that still bums me out is that I wasted money on tattooing that leg before I lost it. If I had known I wouldn't have tattooed that one and got the other one done. So I paid twice to get the same tattoo twice." He laughed, thinking out loud about his financial misfortune.
This wasn thow Madison planned on spending her days, fighting battles. She really hated the constant that it became, so natural at this point. When they had been in the united states, it was killing the undead, fearing them, their large numbers. Here, there hadn tbeen any enough to worry about, which meant more people, and people were the real danger. Maybe moving up north was the mistake, but really, it was one thing or another. Now, she preferred the other, the walkers over the ones that shot back at them. Madison was in this for backup. Shed skilled a few people, but it was always in pure self defence. Until recently, when her world obviously changed, and she became a killer. She didnt like it, but giving up wasnt going to get Susie back.
When Bobby was tlaking to her directly, it seemed strange. She didnt like people for the most part, and her was so friendly, it was uncanny. But them sharing something like a missing limb showed that they were both human, and it didnt slow him down. She would be fine, and adapt. "I find it harder to kill them. Other than that, its not much of an issue. Really though, im not sure how useful im going to be in this fight..." Maybe she was second-guessing herself, because Madison was fine during their last fight, where she actually had to kill. Still, she didnt like it, but she was going to do what she needed to do.
Joseph wasnt too keen on driving up, keemed it would be better to go on foot, but at this point, they would be seen either way. At least they had more supplies with them taking the car, so long as they protected it. Rey had been in the back trunk, the hatchback made traveling with five easy, ane since the back window had been broken, she could even shoot from it if she had too. The new guy showed up out of the blue, he was still unpredictable, but with how many odds were stacked agasint him, there wouldnt be room to get the jump on the group.
As the guy directed them to where the house he seen the man go into, Rey waited for the car to come to a complete stop before jumping out. She didnt need to hear a strategy, because she wasnt stupid enough to get herself seen this time. The way she ran from the car, through different houses, even if anybody had eyes on the, they wouldve lost her in minutes. She knew what she was doing, and just waited for the shooting to start. Joseph wasnt too keen on having his daughter run like that, and by the looks of things, neither was John, but they had to trust that she knew what she was doing. Shes been in situations like this plenty of times.
Madison looked around, readying her revolver. Having only five shots wasnt ideal for this sort of situation, but they didnt have anything else for her that she could shoot with one hand that would be useful against living humans. She wasnt some sort of combat expert like the others, she couldnt just sneak up and stab somebody in the neck, or however they did it expertly. At best, Madison would support the others with ammunition when needed, since being bait wasnt going to work this time around. "Whats the plan, John?"
John was trying to figure out a plan that didn't get them all killed. His slight hesitation gave Bobby time to think of an idea. It sounded crazy to him so he knew it was going to sound crazy out loud. "I'll just walk in through the front door. If it's only one guy, I'll drag him out to you. If there's more than one, I'll act like I can help them and walk them out into the open, man. It might be crazy enough to work." He knew that the person inside wouldn't have seen him with the group and would just act like a stranger. Before anyone could object he got out of the car and headed for the door. John liked how crazy Bobby was and that he was willing to help them. John and the group got our of the car and took cover behind it.
Bobby went to the front door and acted like he was trying to see in the window. Holding his shotgun with one hand, he opened the door with the other. Once the door opened, he saw the man on the chair. "You an eater?" He asked the figure in the chair. The figure shook his head before answering the question verbally. "No and this isn't my house either." He said as he got up but then a second later the room was flooded with men holding guns. Bobby had made the right call by going alone. They didn't shoot and lowered their weapons after a second when they realized it wasn't the right person. Mostly because their leader was ordering them to lower their guns.
Once the confusion settled Paul explained. "I'm sorry for the scare, my friends and I are waiting for someone who attacked our friends. A man with a pair of wings." Bobby played it calm looking around at the men, counting as he did. "Cool gun." He said to one guy hold an ACR with a Skelton key attachment and a bayonet. Then he turned to Paul after hearing about John. "Shaggy looking dude with a crossbow? Bastard threatened to shoot me with it. I can show you where he's at for some food." Bobby said to Paul offering his hand to make a deal. Paul took it but then also offered Bobby something else. "Maybe you'd like a place among us, son? Things are going to be looking up soon." Bobby just shrugged and headed for the door.
Once he stepped out of the house, Paul's group followed. John stood up and confronted them. "We got ya ass holes. I'm gonna get my friend back." John said before launching a bolt in Paul's groups direction. That's when a firefight opened up. Paul's groups had bigger guns and more of them but they also were in the open and about to be shot from behind. Bobby blasted the guy with the ACR in the back when Paul looked at him surprised. "Sorry dude, they're my friends." Paul took off when he realized his men were brought into a trap. After taking one more shot at the group and taking the ACR, Bobby took off after him. He knew that this man knew where John's friend was.
Sitting and waiting for this guy to get to the house seemed like hours, Madison had been anxious. She knew what was coming next, and wasnt ready for it. Then again, nobody was truely ready for anything, things just happened, and they prepared for the worst. Even longer than he walked to the house, it seemed he was inside for even longer, and the group inside the car began to get out, slowely. Madison stuck close to John, and kept herself in cover, waiting for something to happen. Joseph took the lead with John. Luckily, he had time to grab a carbine from the bag of guns they had, and it was fully loaded. Madison had the rest, and the ammo, and was with thrm as they moved up, waiting for this guy Bobby to come through. From the looks of things, it was bad, really bad. He was crazy, looking for a death sentence, or something. The only explaination. Or maybe this whole thing would work. Either eay, Joseph prepared to shoot and kill as many of them as he could, the moment he found contact.
Then finally, it all went down. Bullets rained through the air, breaking apart wood and metal scraps from the shed they used as cover, and the broken down car turned onto his side on the street. The one they were after seemed to have gotten away, but Bobby was on his tail, and Joseph knew that his daughter would be too. Which left John, Madison, and himself to take out what remained. They were on the offence, and outnumbered at least three to one odds, but they had the advantage of good cover, where as they didnt. He swore that he hadnt shot this many bullets at once in all the time he spent in Raccoon City, but this was different. Having taken out a little over half of what was their army or sorts, the gunfire died down, and an evident reload from their side was needed. Needed, and hopefully not possible.
Madison scattered out the boxes of ammunition, loading up as many extra magazines as she could. They had the advantage of ammunition, as well. It wasnt used for the walkers, so they were able to save up plenty for a rainy day. No pun intended. That mixed with the amount that found here in the town, they had more than enough. But at this point, the remaining men ahd started to cover their fire, and scatter. The arrows from afar stopped coming, so it was obvious that Rey had went with Bobby, which put the three of them on a search for the rest. "Still got lots of bullets here, but now every infected left in this town heard us. We need to move, find them before they regroup.", Joseph spoke, assuming John had seen which direction a few of them went as well.
~~~
From the mass shooting, Rey wasnt able to track the leader, not even get a good look at his face. But she did locate Bobby, and he seemed to be hot on the trail. She stayed in silence and stealth, watching and waiting for a good opportunity, but she wanted to watch Bobby. Things seemed to go a little too well at the house, and if he was playing them from the beginning, she would see it. But if he wasnt, and ended up landing himself in hot water, she would be there to help. No matter the outcome, Rey followed them both, hoping that she could figure out where they were moving so she could maybe get to Susie before their leader did. But that seemed out of the question. She could be anywhere at this point.

Bobby chased after Paul as he pulled out his pistol and took shots at Bobby. Bobby cursed loudly as he ducked for cover. Once Paul stopped, Bobby was back to chasing him. If Paul want caught, Bobby hoped to find where he was hiding Susie. Just before Paul ducked into the police station, of all places, he took his last shot at Bobby which would have hit his leg if it was still there. He let our a nervous laugh when he felt the bullet rip through his pants. Bobby didn't see anyone who would help him so he went in from a different door. Though the moment he did, he was forced to fight. Instead of shooting the two guys he swung the butt of his shotgun against the jaw of one of the guys. To free his hands to fight he let the gun go after it hit the guy. Pulling out his ka-bar bk3, he swung it at the other man. He slashed the man in a few spots before thrusting the 7 inch blade into the man's throat. Slinging the shotgun across his back and sneaking in. Bobby ducked behind a desk as Paul was shouting at his men. His men went to guard the doors as Paul went to a room in the back of the building.
Bobby moved out of sight to go where Paul had gone. Once Paul was alone with Susie he was going to make her pay. He pulled out his knife and was going to cut Susie when Bobby burst into the room. Paul turned the blade toward Bobby who retaliated by punching Paul across the chin. After a few more hits, Paul was out cold. Then Bobby turned to Susie who looked afraid of everything. "You must be who we're looking for. I'm gonna bring you to your friends but there are still guys out there." He said as he freed her. He checked the door before guiding her toward the door he came in through. On the other side of the door, two guys stood guard but Bobby took advantage of this and took care of them quickly. A slash at the back of their necks took them down quickly. Then they made a run for it back to the last place he saw the group. Though the bodies of the fallen were still there, the rest of Paul's men had ran. By the count of bodies on the lawn meant that only four of his men were alive.
John had been trying to figure out of these for men were worth hunting down. He was following a set of tracks but none of the other men seemed to meet back up with him. After a few minutes of tracking, he found the guy. Though the guy had been worrying about John's group getting him, he didn't see the walker come around the tree. Between it's clumsiness and surprising the man, it had tackled him and got a big bite out of him. Bleeding out quickly allowed the walker to then start eating the rest of the man. John saw the creature was distracted and headed back to the car. These guys weren't going to be a problem for him. He just wished he was able to track their leader and Bobby. As he emerged from the woods with the others he saw who was waiting for him. John ran off toward Susie who ran to meet him. After a minute of hugging, Bobby interrupted. "Not to ruin anything, but we should start running. There are still more of them and if he wakes up, we could have to fight them too." Bobby, John, and Susie jumped into the car.

The case lead them to a police station, which was where a large majority of the ammo had come from the first time around. What remained now was unknown, but thats now what she was here for. Rey see the two enter the station, and from the looks of the building, there were only two exits on this level, since the windows had been barred. If this was a rouse, the garage would be where the man would come out, but if he stayed inside, then it was a good thought on where Susie had been. Though it all seemed a little too perfect. Was it the fact that maybe Bobby had been underestamated by the one he gave chase to, or was there something else going on here?
She watched, and waited, until a couple of the men arrived holding guns. Rey was sure that Bobby would take them out, but with two good arrows, she dispatched them, not taking any chances. Their bodies remained with the others, which was good, because she shot for the neck. An arrow to the neck was a lot easier then trying to get her home brewed heads to peirce the skull at long range like this, and that meant the ones she killed with a shot to the neck would come back from the dead. Nobody worried about that no, it was part of living in this world. Rey remembered a time when it was the most important thing, and not it didnt seem to matter at all, because the undead were the least of their problems. If anything, an inconvenience.
As she watched Bobby come from the building, holding Susie, Rey knew that things were golden. Still, she didnt go with them, but made there they had a clear path back to the house. Having a hight advantage was a good way to spot things you couldnt see from the ground. Jumping in through the window, Rey checked the rooms, trying to find which one he man had been in, and making sure she was on high alert so nothing got the jump on her. She wanted to make sure he as dead, because if he wasnt, he wouldnt stop, she she wanted this to be over. They needed this town, and if somebody was going to prevent from the taking it for themselves, they somebody was going to die.
~~~~~~
Sitting in the back of the car, Madison took the time they had to reload an magazines they needed, for all of them, even Bobby. He wasnt entirely sure what kind of gun he had, but she made sure everything at their disposal had been loaded up and ready to go, just in case they needed them for another shootout. Which honestly, there was a pretty high chance they would, at one point or another if not soon. When Bobby got back, Madison seen that he had Susie with them. "Oh thank god your alive, John just went looking for you. You, uh, Bobby. I think you just earned your place with us." It wasnt so much earned his place as just sort of made himself part of the group, but Madison had liked to put it a different way, since she didnt really like traveling with a lot of people. The ones she was with now all had something for them, and they were stronger than they were before.
From the tree, John came back, and the runion had be something sweet. It was good seeing these people caring for eachother so much, yet still being strong and able. Usually it was either or, and one of the other got somebody killed, or worse. Joseph was glad to see they had found their own, but now hewas waiting for Rey. He kept to himself, because there wasnt any cause for alarm, she knew where they were at. Quickly enough, Bobby told them all they needed to go, because there were more of them, however Rey was nowhere to be found. "Rey was following you... Were not going anywhere, were finishing this. Your not going to let him get off scott free like that, are you, John?" Joseph made sure his daughter wasnt the only excuse not to drive off out of here.
Bobby lead them to the police station but their car was fired on by the remaining men which caused them to have to stop short, get out, and return fire. Bobby and John rushed the front door, Bobby's new assault rifle causing the men to either retreat or get under better cover. This allowed the two to rush through the front door. Bobby slammed the bayonet into the gut of one of the men and with a crude smile fired the Skelton key attachment into his stomach killing him. John rushed ahead as Bobby stayed back to help the other two. His firing was precise from all of his training, it never really went away. He was hitting hard and when he didn't hit his target, he kept them pined down. In the heat of battle it was hard to keep track of how many were dead on the other side, but he made sure his people were okay. As he checked on where the three were, he saw something bad. They were about to be ambushed from behind. A man was coming out of the cover near them. Bobby rushed out of his cover to stop the shooter. He could see it was too late to stop him so he threw himself in front of Maddie, Susie, and Joseph, taking three bullets in his bulletproof vest.
After getting floored by the shots, Bobby got back up and charged the man. Grabbing the man by the back of his thighs and planting his shoulder into the man's gut allowed him to slam the man down hard. "Don't f*ck with my friends." He said as he slammed his forehead into the bridge of the man's nose between each word. Soon enough the shooting died down because the other side was either dead or running. There wasn't enough reason to track down the few that got away. They weren't the type capable of surviving on their own. When Bobby was done beating the man to death was when he felt his wound. One of the bullets had gone through the vest. "Sh*t..." He mumbled as he sat down and tried to catch his breath. "I get nearly blown up, but this is just crap luck man. A lucky bullet got me."
John had run inside to confront the leader but when he got inside, he found Rey. A nod was all it took to let her know the plan: kill him. They opened the door to the room but Paul was in waiting. He ambushed John and Rey before they could just outright shoot him. He seemed faster and stronger than them but no more than a normal human. John fought back just add hard as he was getting hit but it seemed he couldn't do it fast enough. On top of fighting John, Paul was contending with Rey at the same time. Then Paul hit John so hard that he fell, but luck was against him and he hit his head on the desk and he forgot where he was for a moment. He couldn't focus eyes and everything sounded like it was louder than it needed to be. Then he realized what the noise was and remembered that Rey and Paul were fighting and he tried to get back up but was put back down with a kick to his ribs. This was getting ugly. He was worried they might not make it, and could taste the blood in his mouth and smell it in his nose. He was hurting worse than when he got shot.
Inside, Rey heard shuffling coming from the second floor down the stairwell, and she was already moving down the steps with her bow drawn forward. She seen a door close shut, and immediately ran toward it, but caught that it was locked. Turning out, there had been two infected police officers nearly on top of her, but with a quick pull, she fired an arrow into the eye socked of the first at close range, and kicked the second back. Quickly pulling out the arrow, she drove it into the same place on the other, watching as they both hit the ground motionless at the same time before she ran back for the door.
Approaching it, Rey slammed her shoulder into the frame, hoping it would come loose and open up, but there was something on the other side blocking her from doing this. The pain in her shoulder was sharp, but she shook it off, and ran down the hall to find another way around. making her way through a locker room, she kicked open the door at the end just as the man was running by. Rey was faster, and tackled him into a wall before he had the chance to turn the corner.
The two wrestled to the ground, but the leader was first to pull his knife, and sliced a gash in her arm. Luckily the leather jacket prevented a deeper cut, but Rey was still wounded, and kicked off. After getting to her feet and pocking her bow back up, he man was already gone, and she didnt see if he had made a roudn back or went for the entrance. Taking a wild guess, Rey made her way to the entrance.
As the car came to a stop, John and Bobby were the first out, and then Joseph and Susie followed, though not nearly as quickly. Madison had to unlock the truck from inside to get out, and when she caught up with the others, the had been another man that came from around the side of the wall, shooting at them. Joseph, being between them, wanted to get between one of them, but before he had the chance, Bobby took the shots for all three of them. Quickly as he did this, he was on the shooter, and had him done for. Madison was the first at his side when it turned out he was bleeding through the vest, but there had been other problems.
A large number of undead were on the street, making their way toward the front of the station. They mustve been collecting up from the gunfire around town, and followed them here, all grouped up. Joseph had knew John was inside to go after the leader, so he just grabbed the rifle from the trunk, and held his ground. "Get him in the car and then help me fend off the entrance before they overrun us!", he ordered to the girls, not caring which one or if both helped Bobby. This was the first time in a long time Joseph had to shoot at the living dead, bit there had been too many to risk getting up close. All he could do was take slow, well aimed shots, and take out the closest ones to them. He didnt have enough ammo in the gun to take even a fourth of them out, without missing even once.
Back inside, Rey arrived at the entrace, and seen that she wasnt able to track him. He wasnt here, John was, which meant he didnt leave this way. Her next guess was the parking garage exit, and Rey nodded back at John, leading the way. But as they opened the door to the parking garage side, Rey had been kicked in the stomach, and thrown over the railing on top of a car. In pain, but still raring to fight, she rolled off onto the ground, and then pulled herself back over the railing only to see the guy knocking John into the guards office. Rey tried to grappling him to the ground, but instead ended up landing punches, but was overpowered and thrown back to the ground.
Seeing the man kicking John while he was down, Rey had enough. Her arrows had been strewn across the ground, and in a blind rage, she grabbed one of them, and drove it into the leaders arm. The next instant had been rough, because she was tossed through the window, landing onto the pavement again with a hard slam, and feeling broken glass over multiple areas of exposed flesh. She was down, not getting up, and from the corner of her eye, she seen the man running across the parking garage. She managed to just bring herself to her feet, and stumble after him, but she tripped down the steps, completely out of the chase. From the ground, she seen the steel shutters open, and the man escape from sight. But that wasnt the only bad news. A large number of infected were coming through, stumbing toward her.
