Its been months since the community began to regroup with others around the province, and since had formed trade arrangements to make sure that they stayed in contact in case anything else like it happened. Checkpoints had been setup along the highway leading from town to town, with food and shelter for those who need to make the walk on foot. Its far from anything they had before the outbreak, but its a step in the right direction. Hoards of the undead were thinning out, and more cities and towns had been cleared out every month. At the rate they were going, by the end of the year, the entire province would have been cleared.
Expansion even started with communities that spanned further south into the United States, with members of The Brunswick Community working daily to connect people with one another, families locating families, and becoming part of an increasing population count. Railroad tracks had been cleared off for miles between neighboring communities, making transportation that much faster for large hubs. This is what they could accomplish in under half a year, because people worked together toward a common goal. They earned what they built, and this was the life they deserved.

"My fathers there, hell get you back to the others, I promise.", Joe spoke, his hand rubbing the shoulder of his daughter in law. "You can come with me. You dont have to leave. I dont want you to." Putting both arms around the grizzled man, Madison rest her head on his shoulder. Coming back here was the right thing to do, but deep down, she knew that it wouldnt be the same without him, or Rey. "Theres still things I need to do, and I need to do them alone." Joe kissed Madisons cheek, and then noticed a vehicle driving toward them from the town. "I have to go. Stay safe. Go live your life. Be happy. Second chances dont come often."
With that, Joe gave Madison one of his rare smiles, and took off into the tree. Madison was on the verge of tears, but knew that things were going to be better. They wouldnt be like it was before, but it would be better. Walking down the dirt path, she dropped her bag to her feet, and raised her hands. "Madison Lockheart, im not armed. Im looking for a community near the border of the uni-", she spoke, but stopped when she seen a familiar face stepped out of the truck. Madison knew she had a lot of explaining to do, but for now, just stood in the road, smiling like the goofy Canadian she was.

John and Bear had been doing their usual route toward the train station where work was normally done. Once they got the train running, large amounts of supplies could be shipped around when needed. The two former bikers, too good to actually be in a gang, we're covered in their usual layer of grease, dirt, and soot, or whatever was in the mechanical parts of the train. When you worked on bikes and cars, a bigger engine and bigger vehicle didn't make you feel unqualified. Only challenged. The two were hardly even armed these days. Six months ago, these two guys would have been armed to the teeth. Now the two were packing a big ass revolver and a crossbow. One weapon for each man. Not counting their knives of course. It was almost like the two were on their way to work. Almost.
"So what do ya think of that redhead who showed up last week? Hot little thing, huh?" Bear asked making small talk. The cd playing over the trucks speakers had some rock song about a redhead. It made Bear think about the new arrival. "Man, if Sarah heard ya prospectin' girls at me, she beat ya a new hole." John said, reminding Bear that John had been with Sarah basically since the town got overrun back in the winter. He saved her daughter and then when he tried to get them out of the safe house. "Yeah but I can look, ya wet blanket. Don't ruin my chances with any hot numbers just cause yer taken." Bear barked back. The two had restarted their friendship since waking up in a truck outside of the town with no idea how they got there. For a few days, they had some sort of heightened senses but it wore off by the end of the week. It was some sort of antidote or something since they had both been bitten by infected.
Bear saw the people standing in the road as one quickly made his way to treeline. John slowed down for the other standing in the road. Bear was about to grab his revolver in case they were being set up. But it wasn't like they had anything but the truck and weapons to take. When John saw who it was standing in the road he almost couldn't believe it. John jumped out of the truck and rushed Madison. The reason why she stopped talking was because he had grabbed her into a hug. He was practically in tears. Bear set his revolver back down as he watched his friend hug this stranger. "Lockheart, huh? Took me 2 damn years to learn yer last name."

It felt good to have her arms around the man who she spent the majority of her time with post-outbreak, but Madison had been too exausted to grip any tighter, no matter how much she wanted to. She looked at the other man standing not far from John, but quickly put her attention back on him, releasing him from the hug. She was trying not to cry, herself. His eyes couldnt help but come in contact with her arm, one that used to be missing but was since replaced as a going away present. "Theres probably a lot you dont know about me.", she grinned, trying to laugh just so she could negate the tears welling up. "Hey, um, you mind if we talked later? I need to get off my feet..." Madison trailed off, hoisting her bag back up onto her shoulder before stepping toward the truck, nodding to the other man who came with John.
When she got to the back of the truck, almost instinctively, Madison proped the back back over her shoulder, showing part of her midrift. As the bag landing in the bed of the truck, however, her string neckleck had gotten snagged around the strap, locking part of her messy hair up, ripping at her hairline painfully. She pushed herself close to the truck, and in an instant, tried to reach down for the knife on her lower leg, but faired to reach it. This was just like her too, making a bad impression at the worst possible times, still seemingly a helpless dumb girl.

"Alls im saying is its unnessicary. They dont need me up here with the rifle, but they still keep me up here anyway. Cause why the hell not? Gives me something to do. And besides, I get to listen to my music. You got those batteries I asked for, right?" Steven sat up on the wall, rifle resting against the railing, and an MP3 player sitting on his lap with the back open. It had at least a couple hundred songs, mostly rap, but some classic rock too. Danica snatched it from his lap, reaching into her pocket. The four batteries she pulled out was double what Steven needed, but then she wouldnt have to make another scavenging run. She inserted two of them, closed it up, and tossed it back onto his lap along with the spare in an elastic band. "I dont know why I do it for you, but I do. Not like you need the distraction, what with how you let that psycho chick back in January."
Steven plugged in the earphones, turning it on to make sure it worked. But he snapped back at her while he fumbled to turn the volume down. "Man, Dani, I keep telling you, I dunno how she got out, dude. Gate was closed the whole time, and she sure as hell didnt jump the wall. Even after all the repairs we made to it." Reaching for the earphones, she placed them on her head, seeing what was playing. Bobbing her head back and forth for a few seconds, Danica wrapped them back around Stevens neck. "Whatever. She was crazy anyways. Had people out looking for her, risking their asses for nothing."

John's had noticed the new addition to Madison's arm. Last he saw, she was missing one of her hands. He was the one who cut it off to save her life. She had been bitten and would have turned if he hadn't reacted quickly. Bear had no idea and so John didn't bother bringing it up. Sure they had a lot to talk about, but he didn't care what physical changes there were to his friend as long as she was still the same person. His hand did brush it though, in a thoughtless attempt to make sure it was actually there. When his hand didn't go through a ghost or mirage, he knew it was real. He also wasn't going to make her stand here and tell them both what happened. "We can talk later. That was Joe wasn't it?" John said as he thumbed over his shoulder toward the treeline. He could tell by the look on her face he was right, but he just smiled at her. "Ol' buzzard." He joked as he moved toward the truck.
Bear was just standing there trying not to make things awkward, mostly for himself. John was moving for the driver side, so Bear moved out of the way for Madison so she could climb in. That's when he saw her get snagged up on her necklace and reach for the knife on her ankle. "Here. Lemme help ya with that." He said as he lifted her bag back up. He untangled the necklace so she didn't have to cut it. But that meant being close to this stranger who brought tears to his friend's eyes. Which meant she wasn't that bad. Once it was untangled and she was free of the bag, he moved back away from her. "There." He muttered to confirm the task was complete. He then let her climb in first, squeezing between the two muscular men probably wasn't comfortable, but it beat walking. "Name's Bear, by the way. Some call me BJ. Others don't cause they think it's too crude. It just stands for Bear Junior. Now my pops had a crude sense of humor namin' me that." He introduced himself, making a joke of his own name to show he could be friendly. "Though, John here has been apparently hidin' all a his cute friends for me." He said to embarrass John, knowing he was safe from a beating with Madison between them.
John started the truck up, but didn't put it into drive yet. He had to make sure it was okay by her that they headed to the train, rather to camp first. He and Bear had a job to do. "So Maddie, me n Bear are goin' ta a train. We got a job of workin' on it, bring the thing back ta life. Is it alright that we head there first, so we ain't any later? Or do you wanna go back to the town? Either way, we'll let ya rest up, not put ya ta work yet." He asked her, hoping she'd go with them. It would make things easier and then Bear could ride with someone else once it got dark so they could talk.

What a charmer, Madison sarcastically thought to herself. The other man seemed just as greasy as John, so if any concusions could be drawn, they worked in the same place. Seeing how things were when she arrived, it was much better than it was everywhere else in the world. The United States had been better than it was in Europe, face being that either Joe nor her had killed any undead since they dropped back onto the ground. They didnt come across anybody trying to kill them for their things, either, not that they would have much to take. Then speak of the train only put things into a bigger perspective; things really had gotten better, and they would only get better so long as they had the right mindset. Maybe staying away for so long was a good thing, less drama. Madison always had a knack for it.
Another thing happened when John mentioned the train, and that was a memory of Rey. She wanted to just forget everything, and for the most part, she could after John asked his questions, but it was her that she couldnt get out of her mind. No matter what she did, or how things turned out for them, Madison still cared about her. But it would have been easier thinking she was dead than knowing she wasnt even human anymore. "I dont mind pitching in. Just not sure how productive ill be. Ive only been on a train once..." First time had been not even a few months ago. It was actually a subway train, but the idea was the same, at least in her head.
But thoughts of who else was going to be there made her more nervous. It was a good sort of nervous, she wasnt scared. If anybody was going to hate her for being gone so long, it would be John, and he welcomed her back with open arms, just like he never even left. The only part that made things a little more uncomfortable then she predicted would be not knowing who was alive and who wasnt. They all had time to mourn, forget and move on. Or remember adjust recourse accordingly. But she was gone, making it perfectly clear how selfish Madison really was. Still, John let her back in. God knows she didnt deserve it, but he did none the less. "Who else will be there?" She asked, knowing there would probably be more than just the two of them, but John would figure out that she meant anybody else she knew from before.

Popping the truck into drive, he started rolling toward the train once again. The roads were empty, all the cars that had been abandoned had been moved. They now dotted the side of the road. Though they offered cover to ambushers, they were patrolled often so ambushers would be rare. Bear and John were always on the watch for something like that happening, just in case. "I dunno how much ya know bout mechanic sh*t, but I think me n Bear got it covered." John said about offering to help. "Most of the sh*t will stain your skin for weeks." Bear remarked, looking at how clean she was compared to the two of them. The engine and parts that made the train run were dirty and made anyone who touched them just as dirty.
"Far as people ya may know, Bobby n Susie are back at town doin' whatever jobs they got today. Prolly goin' farther out ta kill walkers." John said, remembering that Madison had only met a few of the others in passing. "I still don't know why ya call 'em walkers, not all a 'em walk. All a 'em try ta bite. All a 'em try ta eat. Bobby's got the right idea callin' 'em eaters." Bear said almost interrupting John. John just scoffed at Bear but didn't say much else. He was focusing on the road now. The train was coming up. But Bear wasn't done talking. "So why haven't I heard about you Maddie? John always kept sh*t too close to the vest. Someone who makes my friend teary-eyed must be somethin' special." Bear asked but John laughed at him. "Stop tryin' Bear, she's hitched." John said to shut him up.
The train was easy to spot on the tracks along the road. A warehouse near it was used as a lookout point which their sniper for the day sat upon. John and Bear unloaded themselves from the truck. Bear took off the band tee he was wearing and threw it into the back of the truck. "I like that shirt, don't wanna get it dirty." He said as he adjusted the tank top underneath. With the summer heat, it made sense that he didn't have sleeves. He was welding today after all. The heat from the torch was going to be excessive since it was already hot. He needed to cut the constraints keeping the last car attached to the rest of the train. The coupling was stuck and so they couldn't just release the car. The car's brakes were also ceased up making it immovable. Once it was unhooked, they could get it off the tracks. Bear grabbed the blow torch and mask as he made his way to the last car. John went to the front to keep working on the lines that needed changing.

Madison thought it was pretty funny how people still talked about names for the monsters, mostly what all three of them had a different name for them. A lot of the BOW they encountered all had names from the labs, which were all mostly in other languages, since the virus' were created overseas. But the infected themselves had been a mistake, and had deemed many names for them. Biters, Walkers, Infected, these were just some of the commonly known ones. The infected are what Madison usually called them, given that was closer to the truth. If they were using the argument that not all of them walked, then not all of them bit either, but they were all very much infected.
Bear was definitely one of the more upbeat of the two. She had known John for a long time, the better part of a year or two, and she could tell that him and bear must have been close as well. Considering how distance John had been before she left, and seeing how he was now. But as personal questions were brought up, Madison looked at John, smiling at first, almost chuckling at how nice it was for them all to be in such a good mood. However, her facial expressions changed once John mentioned that she was married. At first, the thought never even came across her mind. She wasnt married. It didnt mean anything then, and it didnt mean anything now. Not since the world as they knew it ended. "Its a long story." She chimed in. Thankfully, the tracks hadnt been too far away, and Madison was able to just sit and ponder in thought, which was usually how she looked. Her quiet, ordinary self.
When it seemed that the two of them had been working on separate parts of the train, Madison instinctively went with John. Not just because she knew him better, and they had a lot of catching up to do, but because Bear was going to be doing some welding. That wasnt the greatest conversation tool. As she walked with John, her attention was kept on him, and how it was still hard to believe that she was back here. Madison hated the awkward filler, the questions that were obvious when you hadnt seen somebody in a long time. She would rather just go back to how things were before, skipping all of it. It probably wasnt going to happen, though. "Full disclosure; Im not married. We had a bit of a falling out. And by that, I mean, im kinda, well. Dead to her."

Bear got straight to work at cutting through the coupling. It was going to take a while and he wasn't even sure they had enough fuel to cut all of the way through. They would probably have to break it the rest of the way, if that was possible. Pulling on his gloves and putting on his welding mask, he got to work. The heat from the torch was just as unbearable as he thought it would be. After a half hour of welding, he stopped to get himself a drink. The group had brought a cooler with soda and water. It was amazing how anything but diet soda lasted a few years. That and not a lot of people went looking for soda after the outbreak. Popping open a soda as he brought one over for Madison and John each.
While Bear was welding, John spoke to Madison. "Well don't tell Bear that. He's been sniffin' round fer a girl since I started with Sarah, a survivor from the town, n Bobby put a bun in Susie's oven." He explained Bear's jealousy and Bobby and Susie going to be parents. He also informed her of Sarah, the woman who's daughter he had saved and now was dating. "I can only hold him back fer so long. He is bigger than me after all." He joked as he focused in on the line that was leaking. He was trying to figure out what could be done to fix it. "So, yer hand? How'd that happen?" He asked as he focused on getting the train started. As she explained everything, he eventually got the train going and the lines were all changed.
Bear came by just at the end of the explanation with cold sodas for them. "When was the last time ya had a cold soda?" John asked as they were handed sodas. "So I dunno if we got enough fuel fer cuttin' through that couplin' back there. Ya know if we got a saw that can cut metal, or do we gotta go lookin' fer one?" Bear asked but John wasn't sure so he just shrugged. "We'll check when we get back ta town." John said before Bear turned back to keep cutting. He knew he had enough fuel to cut for another half hour. "Good job gettin' the thing runnin'." He said before walking away.

Thinking about settling down and getting back into a relationship with somebody else didnt seem possible, but time would tell. None the less, she grinned. It was a surprise to thing of how much has changed in the last months, and how productive they had all been. Madison was productive too, in other ways, nothing like what the group had been doing. It seemed by this time, everything was going back to how things where when the infected werent roaming around. Since touching down on the old North America, neither her or Joseph seen anything dangerous. No infected, or BOW to worry about. Not even people trying to kill them, which was definitely a change of pace considering the recent months.
"Oh. That was her. Sort of. Its a little hard to explain, and id rather not get into it..." It wasnt that John wouldnt believe her, but that it was obvious what happened. How it happened was obviously complicated, growing back a limb had to be. but the details didnt really matter anymore. Bringing it up would just lead to more questions, and in the end, Madison wanted to forget about everything and start new. A clean slate. Still, John deserved some sort of answer. Anything less would be overdramatic, and if Madison really did want to move past it all, then she needed to be able to talk about it without refleting on the bad. "...she changed, lost control of her abilities. Her and the others. They had her messing around with all sorts of crazy virus', stuff ive never even seen before, not even from my time with TerraSave. She did something to me, and I dont even know what, but it grew my arm back. Even healed the scars I had before. Rey had so much potential, John, and she abused it to get stronger. I didnt think she would do that."
Not too long after telling him the story, Bear showed up, and without skipping a beat, John continued on over the conversation so that his buddy wouldnt get caught up in it. He definitely also seen that she didnt want to talk about it in the first place, but he got his answer, and Madison was strong enough not to dwell enough. Taking the can of Crown Royal, one of the more famous pops from Canada, she debated on opening it now, but felt like passing up the gesture would be stupid. "Thanks.", she smiled at Bear, opening up and taking a large mouthfull.
The two had to have been working on the train for quite awhile now, and while she had been no expert on trains, or mechanical engineering in general, Madison could tell that more than enough time had been put into it to get it running. It was a good idea, and really changed the ways they could transport things. Clearing the tracks would have been the longest part, but they had the better part of spring to do that, even if it was just this province. With another mouthful, Madison lowered the can down, gripping with with two hands to keep them cool, and spoke. "If my arm is going to raise too many questions back with the others, I can stay somewhere else. I never was big on crowds anyways, and ill bet that the place is packed with people by now." Madison didnt want to say it now, but just because she was back, didnt mean she was staying. Especially after being on the move for so long already. Settling down seemed like it could go either way. It would be hard to fit in with normal people again.

John had to think about who would ask about her hand but quite a few people who survived the attack on the town hadn't really seen her. Bobby couldn't be bothered as long as she didn't become a monster and try and easy him. Susie wasn't one to pry. He knew now. Bear didn't know her before but was pretty up to date on supers. And the mechanic boy from Moncton, Cal, might remember but John could explain it to him. It was actually pretty ready to explain when or into layman's terms. "Maybe just Cal, remember the mechanic from Moncton? Well he came to us after Sebby got bit. He might remember ya not havin' a hand. Besides him, I think everyone will be fine n won't ask questions." He said, reassuring her that it'll be fine. But John had a keen sense of things from his friends. Especially Madison. He could tell something was on her mind and she didn't know how to tell him. That's when he got the sinking feeling in his gut.
"Yer not staying long are ya?" He asked as he shut down the train. It didn't need to be running right now. The look on her face answered his question. "Why not? Is it because of Rey and people like her? They ain't yer problem. Ain't our problem. Ya deserve ta live a life not keep gettin' dragged into other people's problems. We been through the sh*t, we get ta relax now." He said, careful to keep his voice even so he didn't sound mad. The last time she had left, he had lost himself. She had been thrust upon him but he accepted her. He had done his best to protect her. Yet she never seemed to want to stay somewhere safe. They kept having to move. Now there were places for them to stay safe and she didn't want to stay.
What John didn't know was that Bear could hear everything they were saying. When had suffered similar fates the day they were both bitten. John had been given his shot sooner than Bear had after getting bit. While John's enhanced senses and strength faded, Bear's strengthened. He became something stronger, and someone his size didn't exactly need to be stronger. He had heard everything but didn't want more power like Rey had looked for. He didn't even want the power he had now. He could sense all of the other supers on Madison the moment they pulled up to her. He didn't say anything because it was John's friend. He was allowed to have other super friends, or ones who had super friends. He couldn't tell if she was a super or not but he knew Rey was. He still hadn't found out who his savior was but he hoped he could rip their throats out. Though he had smirked when she told John she wasn't married anymore. Bear thought she was definitely better looking than the red head back at town.

Feeling like she was about to go through everyting all over again, which by now would start to sound like a broken record, Madison knew that there was no backing out this time. She wasnt going to get dragged into anything, either. She was her on her own accord, whether she liked it or not. It might have been the only choice she had, other than not coming back at all and being all alone. She didnt want to be alone, she never did, but if it made things easier, than she would. "A lots happened since I left. It wasnt a vacation, and I wasnt us running around just surviving, or playing newlyweds either... Now matter how much she was trying to avoid it, Madison wasnt going to be able to. Not without telling her everything. The biopolar tendencies, attempted suicide. It would make sense.
"Do you remember when you first met me? Damian? Hes still alive, and he was using me from the start. He was controlling me, getting in my head, making me think things. I didnt even know it was happening. I was so scared when he wasnt there, and I didnt even know why. You helped me try to get through it. Then when we found her." It even made her mad to say her name, Madison was trying hard to avoid it, and it was starting to show. "She did the same thing to me. All that time, like she knew, like she was in on it. With Damian, and Arc. Even Joseph, at one point. They wanted me to be part of something, and I knew, soon as she told me how she was controlling me, that they were using me. My head is still messed up from it, after not being under their spell or whatever for so long. I know, it sounds like something from a book, but I wouldnt lie to you, John. I dont want to be around people, because I think I might do something bad. The scariest part is, I dont even know what."
Madison wasnt getting scared, or sad. If anything, she was angry, and not just at herself for being weak enough to fall for it. Her facial expressions might have been changing, but she knew that everything was going to be okay now that she knew the truth. But it still stuck with her. Whatever they did to her lingered, and she just didnt have the answers. She didnt even want the answers, she just wanted to move on. "You know I dont want to hurt anybody, and I really do want to see everybody again, I swear im not leaving again. But I know I cant stay. A couple of days maybe, but thats only because im going to make an effort. Ill try, for you and the others. But mostly for you. I still have to find a way to say sorry, for everything. All the times you put your life on the line for me. I dont think ive ever done anything like that for you."
Everything coming out like this made her feel at ease, like a heavy burdon was lifted off of her check. All of the pain went away, replaced with anger, which was one emotion she never experienced a lot of in her lifetime. It felt good, like there had been a certain balance now, like she could be herself. Madison really thought things could go back to the way they were after meeting Damian, and before she met Rey. "I just need to hear you say it. 'I forgive you'. I need that. Than we can go see the others, but not until you say it."

John was taken back by her words. He thought he had in not so many words. He looked at her almost wounded because he had his friend back and that's what mattered to him. The now was more important than the past. Life was already short before the outbreak, now it was definitely too short to hold a grudge. Especially over something she couldn't have controlled or a decision she needed to make. "Maddie, I gotta say the words? I thought me greetin' ya like I did meant it. Fer ya, I'll say it. I forgive ya. The world ain't a place these days to hold a grudge. I got sh*t done here while you did yer thing out there. Yer my friend. What ya did, couldn't have gone any other way than how it did. It's over n we need to move on n not dwell on the past. Don't go leavin' again." He said, the last part almost sounding like a plea. The sudden pop of a gunshot caught everyone's attention.
The sound of a safer place to live had been bringing Benny farther from the militarily controlled Vegas and more into Canada. He was dirty, tired, hungry, and out of ammo. The walls went up around Vegas, and the care for outside the walls went down. Benny had left when things started getting more like prison and less like a city. Outside the walls of Vegas was tough, he had used most of his ammo in the first fifty miles. An old revolver of his father's was the best he had. And he wasn't alone. His long time girlfriend, Erin, had decided to join him. She didn't have any guns to protect them because the military took her's before she was able to leave. It was hell in Vegas and only destined to get worse if the military was going to remain in control. Scared men with guns and actual orders were in control of even more scared civilians who had learned how to survive in a wild world the last two years. Now everyone had to work together, but it didn't seem to be going in that direction.
Benny and Erin were in trouble now. Three men had ambushed them with a gun and were holding up Benny and Erin for their things. "We don't have anythin' man. Just listen to us. We're out of food and water. Only thing we got left is an empty gun and the clothes on our back." Benny pleaded to the men who weren't even listening. "Why don't ya let us have her for a bit?" Benny hated that line out of the savages in this world. But yet again here he was hearing it. "Why don't ya stick your d*cks in each other for once? Your f*ckin' type of outlaw mentality is just stupid. Go f*ck yourselves before I find out if you actually have any ammo." He said angrily. He was only able to stay angry for a second as the man holding the gun shot Benny in the stomach. Benny went to his knees as they grabbed Erin. He never guessed he was going to get shot, but here he was. Erin's screams of help brought him away from dwelling on his wound. He whipped out a fold up pocket knife and jammed it into one of their necks and pulled on it to cut out his throat.
As he fell to the ground bleading, the other two were caught off guard. Benny stabbed another in the stomach as he turned to confront Benny. Benny was quick despite his wound and stabbed the man as many times as he could, as quickly as he could. Before he could get the last one, Benny was blindsided by the man. He hit Benny a few times before trying to strangle him. Benny reached for anything to hit the man with because his bare hands hadn't phased the man. As Benny got his hands on a rock, the man put his knee on Benny's bicep to pin his arm to the ground. Things were starting to go dark until a scream from the man on top of him reminded him he wasn't alone. Erin had stabbed him in the back with his knife and the man squirmed as he hit Erin away and tried to get the knife out. His leg lifted off of Benny's arm and he was able to hit the man with the rock. The impact knocked the man off of Benny, he took the advantage to hit him again with the rock, harder this time. After a few more hits, the rock, Benny, Erin, and the surrounding area were covered in blood.
Benny, on his knees, hung his head as he tried to catch his breath. "We gotta move baby. Let's get to them tracks we saw last night and hope we find this town." Erin said as she helped Benny up to his feet. "Don't forget the gun." Benny said to her as they started moving. She had already grabbed it before helping him up. It was only fifty yards to the tracks and then hopefully someone would be nearby enough to get them to safety, or she wasn't opposed to shooting someone to get a vehicle if it meant Benny lived. The two of them were a mess. He was covered in blood, not just his own with a hole in his tank top where the bullet went through him. Her clothes were partially ripped and she had blood from all of the men in the fight on her. At this point it was mostly Benny's. Now that they were on the tracks, they could see a train. More importantly there were people on and near the train. Erin didn't have time to play it safe but was just ready with their new pistol in hand. "I need help!" She shouted as loud as she could. Her and Benny were still a hundred yards away or so, but she was having trouble getting him to move anymore. He was starting to black out and then she wouldn't be able to carry him on her own.

'I dont ever plan on it.', the words came into her head, but before she had the chance to say them, the sound of gunfire stopped their moment. It was a lone bullet, which meant something bad, because no way anybody shot just once these days. Though the risk of infected hearing it wasnt a big deal anymore, Madison assumed anyways. Almost immedaitely though, she went back to the truck, and grabbed the M93R from her bag. It was the only thing she had, and no extra ammo, but she knew well enough how to fire it. At this point, probably even surprising John with her aim. The pistol was sub-compact, and as she ran with John toward the sound of the gunshot, she held it forward using her shoulder. Behind her was Johns friend, who name escaped her, but she didnt beat herself up over the small lapse of memory, given there were more important matters ahead.
On the tracks was a man and a woman, one of them appeared to be shot. John was immediate to their attention, but Madison was more intent on finding out who shot the man. "I got this.", Madison barked. Not even caring to ask them, she ran off with her gun, but didnt get far before she seen the bodies. It was a bloody mess, but Madison wasnt fased by it. The scene looked like it was a victory for the two survivors, but one that was shot made that victory a little close, especially if he died. Pulling out the knife from her boot, she drove into the side of the in tact head, avoiding the other one since it had been in peices. None would turn, and now she could pick was little they had on them. It wasnt a lot, but every little bit counted. The most noted of the spoils had been a half full pack of gum, which the blood would wipe away from easily.

Benny was a fighter. Even though the darkness of unconsciousness was creeping in he fought it off. He didn't want to go under to make sure Erin was safe. He protected her, it was just like how he was before the outbreak. Being an enforcer for the Hartford Wolf Pack hockey team just carried over to defending his girlfriend from everything. It carried over into not passing out. He was conditioned to take a beating and keep going. He knew how to get hurt but hurt others worse than he was. But ultimately he was just doing it to protect his people. He normally was a nice guy as long as you didn't cross him wrong.
Benny opened his eyes wide to fight the blackout before looking at Erin. "You're really pretty covered in blood. It matches your hair." He said with a stupid grin on his face. The red headed girl just smiled at him. Even with a gunshot and bleeding everywhere, he knew how to make her smile. "Shut up, baby. You're such a dork." She said as she kept pressure on his stomach. "We need to stop the bleedin'. Though looks like he is made a bricks n the bullet didn't go through." John said looking Benny over. He and Bear helped get him to the truck and layed him down in the bed. Erin sat in the back with Benny to make sure he was okay. John waited for Madison while Bear tore off. John knew he could catch up with Bear in a car one of the others had taken to train.
Bear felt like he recognized the guy in the back of the truck. He just couldn't place his finger on it. "Hey so where do I know ya from? I swear I know ya." Bear asked since the guy was still up. It would keep him up if he wanted to stay conscious. "Know anything about hockey, dude?" Bear realized it once he said it. He had bet a few times on hockey games but loved watching the fights. Before the outbreak, there was one guy from Connecticut who was fighting his way to being the most feared player in hockey. They called him the brick because he was like a brick in every thought of the word. He hit and took a hit like one. "F*ckin' A, yer Benny the Brick! Ain't gonna let a celebrity die on my watch!" He said as he slammed his foot down harder on the throttle. He was going a hundred in the little beat up truck within seconds.

The sound of the truck speeding off was a little jaunting to her, but Madison knew that John wouldnt have just left her, and there he was. She came up on the tracks again, almost following the blood trailing leading from where she was. Something she wouldnt have cared to notice before, but now it was something she precieved more often then not. There wasnt a chance she was good at tracking as John would ever be, but she was better at it then she was before, having applied what little she picked up from the man. It wasnt the blood trail that lead her back, though, it was to make sure they knew the situation, and she let John know what happened.
"Looks like they fought briefly, shot went off, hit him in the stomach trying to make sure the girl was okay. Then he took down the others. I dont think hes going to make it though, thats a lot of blood..." She pointed to the trail behind her. This wasnt exactly what she had in mind the moment she got back into this life, and it was almost surprising, hearing how good it had been back here. "...I take it this doesnt happen much anymore, huh? But your buddy drove off, meaning you all must still have quite the infirmary if you think you can save him. Maybe im wrong." It was a little cold of her to assume he wouldnt make it, but it was just the hard conditioning of the time she was away, and not the pessimistic side taking over.
Having her bag in the truck that just left, Madison knew that whatever she had picked from the corpses was all she had on her, and she felt a little naked for the first time in awhile. Even though she still had her gun, with enough ammo in it, and even a home-site machined supressor on the end to mask the nine milimeter rounds that were fired from it. On top of that, she had John, who always proved to be the best weapon in the groups arsenal, so the feeling of being naked didnt stay long enough to matter. If they had to walk back, it wouldnt be so bad. At least they could talk.
