Perry's novels deserve their own thread, this should also keep the amount created on it to a low amount....or just this one.

Wait does that mean that no one liked those novels? That's a shame because reading those novels is what drove me to play the games, plus she was more inclusive of Barry and Rebecca so I gave her more respect than I did the game producers for character development.
Besides the only thing different in the books between the games is leveling the playing field of all the characters in terms of their involvement in the games and adding the two extra books between to explain what the heck was going on between RE and RE2 and RE3. I also thought that her Character Profiles were a little less far fetched than what Capcom gave us, although maybe she went a bit tooo far with Rebecca, well I think she over indulged a bit too much with Rebecca, but it was still better than what Capcom gave us, frankly.

You're assuming too much, Ace. Mew is simply saying that the novels deserve their own thread is because they are a whole different insight in the RE Universe. There are many things that can be discussed about the books—enough that it'll clog up the other threads and make knowing which is which difficult. So, it's better to create another thread to help sort out the mess.
As for actually liking the books, there are several of us who practically read all of them. I won't speak for any of us—since I would be a hypocrite on doing so—but I can personally say that I definitely enjoyed the books, and I agree with you; the books give more insight on support characters and give us an idea on how they were like.

Eh, that's fair I guess I did overreact at bit much at Mew's post. Yeah the only book I haven't read yet is Zero Hour, although quite frankly, I haven't played RE0 either soooooooo... Oh wait I haven't played the new REmake either, I only played the original ones, and RE4, so I guess as far as Perry's concerned Wesker sure isn't as big a character as he's made out to be later in the series.

I loved the books. Read them all several times. I agree with the insight, but there's one character that's such a thin-ice subject: Trent.
I personally kinda liked Trent. It was new insight onto some things, and kind of a nice filler when we didn't have all these official details about what was going on between/behind the scenes in the games. Plus it, no doubt, gave Perry a bit of creative impulse of her own.

You both misinterpreted the point of this thread, if you read the rules you'd understand. Being stickied and labeled 'Official' means this is where you talk about the novels, it's suppose to stop members from making lots of threads on the books and keep everything in one thread alone. Obviously I had to type up something to actually post the thread and I just threw that up there.
And yeah, are reading teh borks, Undead City is just unreal.

I found it funny how City of the Dead and Nemesis have conflicting events—because Jill supposedly left Raccoon, but in Nemesis it says otherwise—but I guess that's what happens when you advance a tad bit much, especially before the next game comes out.

Dude, if you fread Zero Hour and then The Umbrella Conspiracy, little in the means of when Bravo take off and the time between then and when Alpha take off make no sense. Perry hadn't considered that Capcom would create a prequel, she doesn't consider a lot really, but she deals with it and somehow it works fine.

I thought she wrote Zero Hour after RE0 came out, guess I was wrong, but remember that's the only one I still have yet to read so it's ok for me to be wrong.

That is the case, Perry wrote Zero Hour after RE0 came out. That's exactly where she screwed up though, because she created the beginning events of The Umbrella Conspiracy her own was and didn't consider a prequel to be created, meaning the timeline for Zero Hour and The Umbrella Conspiracy doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I personally liked the books. They really go deep into the back story of Resident Evil and I thought they were really action packed as well. Props goes out to Perry for writing these novels

I agree, the novels were great. She gave the characters depth that was absent in all the games, and uncanonically filled in the many plotholes the game series has. what i liked best was how she combined Chris's and Jill's scenarios in the first Resident Evil, which made the whole story make a lot more sense seeing as there are two different versions of the story in the game itself

I know, right? When I first heard of a Resident Evil movie (I'm aware it's a touchy subject, but bare with me please), I envisioned it to be like the books, or at least somewhat follow the storyline! I've read all the books so far except Resident Evil: Zero Hour, but I can't find that one, so I don't really count it. I'me currently planning on petitioning Capcom to make new RE movies based on the books, including Trent and everything. Oh, I liked Trent a lot, he was a badass. Anyway, I got my Dad to read the first one, even though he didn't like the movies and he thought the games were moronic, but he's addicted the the books now! All hail the power of S.D. Perry! And all hail the awesomeness that is Rebecca Lynn Chambers!

Oh right, she had a middle name, forgot that part. Man I need to pick these up again and reread them.
You know aside from petitioning for REmakes of 2 and 3, we should just petition to find out where the hell Rebecca and Barry went (yes we think Barry is safely in Canada but that's boring) I mean, petitioning to get games for books that were based on games is one thing (to be honest I don't understand why most hardcore fans of the series down play these books, seeing as they can make a s*** tonne more sense than any of the games taken at face value [bad writing style aside, according to some fans]) and just trying to figure out where key series characters went is quite another, yes?

Actually, Rebecca's middle name isn't mentioned in the books, nor is it mentioned in the games. I only know it through a connection at Capcom. I know the middle names of all the main characters, but I only really remember the ones I like, such as Albert James Wesker, Rebecca Lynn Chambers, Claire Angela Redfield, Sherry Jessica Birkin, and Ashly Ann Graham (I don't count Leon, since we all know that one). Capcom's official position on the books is that they are canon, though there are discrepensies (I hope I spelled that right) in the timeline. The movies, however, are in an alternate universe, kinda a "what if?" thing, though even they think the movies blow chunks in comparison. I am honsetly waiting for the novelization of RE4. I hope S.D. Perry writes that one, too. Oh, and I feel kinda bad having to say this, but I honestly didn't know S.D. Perry was a woman. I didn't care if she was or not, but I never really looked it up either.
