“Oh, now you tell me…” Daniel said with a smirk on his face. He figured there would be side effects, but still. He looked over Malcolm’s map and memorized it in a few moments, handing it over to Rio and smirked at Malcolm.
“If all else fails, Harry can make the orders.” He said, looking back to Rio.
“If I turn purple, I’m gonna throw you in the river.” He said with a laugh. She mentioned the area Malcolm had pointed out as a good place to grow plants, and then raised his hand.
“I’m all the farmer we need. You guys don’t remember the plants I grew on the train? What’d you think I was growing, hash?” He said with a smirk. “If we can get some seeds for whatever we want, I can make it grow.” He said. They might have found it odd, that he was the one who was agriculturally inclined, but oh well. He’d managed to grow plants indoors for years, never having had the environment to do it outside.
“We can get some small scale growing going now, and if the snow ever thaws out outside, we can grow more sustainable food. But we’re going to be running off MRE’s or purchased supplies for a while.” He said. They needed to get somewhere to get supplies soon, enriched soil and seeds. Water filters to use their waste water for the crops. Speaking of…
“Does this place have store rooms? Have we checked out any of the supplies here, if there is any? If its good, we should use it first. If it isn’t, we need to get rid of some of it. The rest we can use for compost.” He said.

"Woah, hold on. You WEREN'T growing pot? What about all that cash I loaned you, or the tools and fancy plant foods you asked me to bring back on those salvage jobs? I was hoping to get baked enough to avoid all the boring parts of the briefings."
Malcom borrowed marker pens from a passing merc and started drawing up a larger map on a clean wall patch. Making lists to go along with the group suggestions.
"Some of the chemicals are outdated or close to it, we should either ditch them or use them up rapidly respectively. Some of the crew have set up a machine gun at the entrance and cleaned out the broken furniture in the cabin above, moved in some of their own stuff, seriously, so many folding lawn chairs up there now. Scouts are going in teams to check out the further parts of the bunker, seeing if we have any other entrances and...." The lights cut out while he was talking and came on again a few seconds later.
"That would be the new generator parts installed. I'll give them a check over later but we should have constant power for most of the complex, I'll open my purse strings a little and see if we can order in some more stuff to run the whole base. Shouldn't worry about how much we spend, when we get funding we can just reimburse outselves."

Rio shook her head slightly. "I want to hold off on touching our personal accounts. As long as we pull out of the account I have set up it's easy for me to hid our transactions. More personal accounts will be a bit harder," she pointed out. She stood up and stretched her arms a bit. "Before we even touch our personal accounts I want to hold off until we have government backings. Remember Art is very clever and will go to no ends to get at us. With the government standing behind us she'll think less on trying to come after us," she said as she walked to the door.
"I need air to wake myself up. Having a coffee machine set up somewhere wouldn't hurt either." She stretched her arms a bit as she checked over Elijha for a moment. "She's good for a while. Hopefully when she wakes up she'll have answers for us." She shook her head as she headed toward the door. "Anyone else for a walk? Nice cold and windy outside. Good weather to wake up with," she laughed a bit.

“Mal, I can only hope your joking. That, and it wouldn’t matter if I was growing pot or not. Now it’s Art’s pot.” Daniel said with a smirk. It’d be a hell of a phone call if he asked for it back…
He listened to Malcolm lay out the area for them, and then watched the lights flicker for a moment. New generator, that was good. He talked about using some money to get them some new supplies, which Rio shot down quickly. She had a point, hiding their transactions would be a good thing while they didn’t have anyone watching out for them. But…
“You know, the gang up there has groups up and down the west coast. For now, that should be a good enough support network.” He said. “And if we need anything, I have some cash. I cleaned out the house in Nevada. A lot went to these guys, but I have some left. Art can’t track liquid assets, so if we need anything, I can cover it.” He said.
Rio asked about going out for a walk, and Daniel smirked.
“Well, I got two broken legs but I’m up for a walk.” He said, standing with a wince and putting his weight heavily on the crutches. “Make sure and call a few of the guys to come with us. Just in case.” He said. Backup. They didn’t have a lot of it before, so why not use it when they finally did have it?

"I just ordered an application code for backing while we were talking." Malcom finished a short typing session on his pda "Just need to run it by any military spot with the right computer equipment and they'll book us an inspection team, gotta make sure we're not just looking for free cash after all."
He packed his gear up and grabbed his gun to go with the others.
"I'd better come too. Wolfe might not have set off all my traps so I'd rather you stayed on a safe path rather than go up 50 feet and scatter yourself over the path."

Rio smiled a bit as lead the others out into the hall. They picked up a couple of the mercenaries on their way out of the building. Zipping up her jacket she stepped out onto the snow covered ground. She could see the sun starting to set over the mountains, and smiled a bit. "Well I guess we shouldn't be out here that long. Just enough for air, and something to help me wake up," she pointed out. She looked back as the others were preparing themselves as if they were going to be attacked. Though given their current situation she wouldn't doubt that there was something out there.
"The path is a bit harder to see in the snow. It use to be obvious, but after years of not being traveled it has covered over," she said as she lead them to a group of trees. "It starts here, and circles back to the lake."
The walk through the woods was a bit easer than she expected. When Malcom said he wanted to come along because of his traps she was expecting to see him disarming them every ten feet. Except he seemed more intent on the surroundings than where he laid his traps, and that made her feel a bit better. It just meant that they were safe for the time being. Ahead of them the trail seemed to disappear beneath the snow, and the snow seemed to get a bit deeper. Rio stopped for a moment trying to get her barrings. It had been quite some time since she had walked this path, and a lot of it seemed different now.
"Lets head back the way we came. I can't see the path anymore, and this area looks a lot different than I remember," she said as she turned to the others. She felt the snow beneath her feet shift, but not as if she was moving her foot. Looking around she realized the snow was sliding as if it was falling through wholes. It took all of a whole two seconds to realized what was happening, and it was two seconds to late. The ground beneath their feet gave way as they fell through a large whole.
The fall was a good distance, and a small pool of frozen water awaited below. The rocks that fell before them broke the ice before each of them hit the water. Rio surfaced coughing a bit as she looked up into the dark of the cave. No light from the whole they had fallen through only meant that the ceiling had caved in on itself. She cursed slightly as she looked around the freezing water for the others. She couldn't see anything through the darkness. "Hey," she called through chattering teeth. "Everyone okay?"

Daniel found that he could only form one conscious thought on the way down the hole. That though couldn’t quite be put into comprehensible words, it was more of a feeling than anything. But the words ‘oh f**k’ were probably close.
His next thoughts were voiced as soon as he broke the surface of the water after a short swim.
“Holy f**k, that’s cold!” He almost shouted. He took a look around and swam over to Rio, stopping short as he flicked water in her face.
“Oh ya, let’s go for a walk guys. Let’s not drink coffee like a normal person, let’s go for a walk and fall in a friggin’ lake that‘s colder than Satan‘s balls.” He said, his voice a higher than normal pitch as he mimicked Rio‘s voice, splashing another handful of water at her.
“When we get out of here, your grounded.” He said, trying to smirk but finding it hard through the chatter of his teeth.

"Okay, seems Wolfe made an interesting route on his way over."
During the walk Malcom made a point of showing off the results of his work, the blast patterns, damage to environment and blood splatters.
"Here's a fun part, from these footprints it looks like he tried to hold off this tree falling on him, only to be hit by the shrapnel bomb attatched to it and too a lot of the blast across the back. Whilst here is where he tried to stop for cover and set off the lighter fluid spray and the flare gun. I gotta teach you guys how to make stuff like this. Beats model planes any day of the week."
He caught up with the other two in time to notice the ground seeping downwards, dropping into the cave and water during the collapse. Luckily they all managed to get to the surface without hitting a frozen over part of the surface. Malcom struggled to the edge and climbed out, tipping his gun to clean out the water and hammering a pocket flashlight as it flickered on and off before clipping it to his belt.
"Okay, I heard a cold shower is a good wake up call, but I'd like to do it properly next time. Better find our way back and dry off before we freeze. Looks like everyone else stayed topside, they should be looking for us."

Rio followed Malcom out of the water along with Daniel. She sat on the ground shivering slightly. "I want to know one thing," she said with chattering teeth. "How the hell do you know how cold santa's balls are?" she asked with a grin. She reached up with trimbling fingers and plucked the gloves off her hands. She then reached up to ring out her hair so it wasn't so wet. "Besides no one told me there was going to be a damn whole in the middle of the forest." She looked around in the darkness of the cave before looking at Malcom. "Alright you have a flash light. What about you?" she asked looking at Daniel. "At least a gun light?" She shivered again and brought her hands up to her shoulders.
"Someone else can take lead. I'm tired of leading right now, but we do need to keep moving so we don't freeze." She looked at Daniel. "An without the virus in your body your body you'll be suffering just like the rest of us. So we need to hurry." She looked around the cave again, and then back to the water. "I've never seen this place before, but then again I didn't have much time to do much exploring the last time I was here," she pointed out. "Any ideas?"

“Gotcha.” Daniel said as he hauled himself out of the water, his teeth chattering worse as the air hit him. Jeez, it was cold…
Laying on his back for a moment, Daniel looked around the area and saw the darkness surrounding them. Two flashlights wouldn’t do much, but he was prepared. Reaching into his vest and pulling out a flare, he took the cap off and struck it on the strike plate. The area was soon filled with green light, somewhat muffled as Daniel held his hand to one side of the flame to warm it.
He pulled his radio off his belt and started pressing the button, hearing the warble of it and knowing the waterproofing had held up.
“Ground team to base, come in base.” He said, and another voice soon came over the radio.
“What’d ya want?” A voice answered.
“We want you to come get us out of the big damn hole we just fell in.” He said with a grin.
“Hole? What hole?” The voice asked, confused.
“The one we fell in. About a hundred feet down the path, follow the footprints.” He said before putting it back on his belt.
“Roger that.” The voice finished.
“Now we wait and hope nothing else is living down here.” Daniel said.

"Man, why did you have to say that?" Malcom groaned. "We need to rent you more horror movies man, never say stuff like that."
A low growl echoed around the cave, hard to place the source or direction given how it was bouncing around.
"Either winnie the pooh just woke up cranky or we just tresspassed. Want to tell those guys up top to bring a shovel and heavy artillery?"
Malcom shined his flashlight around with his gun. Seemed there were three passages out of the area, one of them the source of the water filling the area up.

Rio shivered slightly as she watched where Malcom shined his light. "Wait point it back to that cave," she said pointing to the one with the water sitting in it. She walked to the edge of the cave trying her best to look in without falling into the water. "It ends," she said as she looked back at the others. "From the look of it this may end up at the lake by the house," she pointed out. She looked back at the water and then stepped away. "If it was warmer outside I would suggest a swim, but non of us would be able to make it with this water so cold." She watched as Malcom continued on through the cave with his light.
Her eyes though caught something in one of the side caves. It may have just been the rock shining off of a light. She edged to it since Malcom and Daniel's lights were pointed else where in the cave. "Hey, can one of you shine your light over here?" she asked as she stopped in front of the cave. Her ears picking up on a faint sound that echoed in the cave. As the light lit up the tunnel she expected to see her shadow extend the distance of the light. Except it abruptly ended in front of her. The form in front of her bent over in the small tunnel. For being big and bulky the creature was much faster than she expected. As quickly as she registered that it was something else, and went to move it's hand reached out just has fast wrapping around her neck.
Rio cried out as her hand went to grip the wrist of the creature. She struggled to break free of it's grasp as it moved out of the tunnel, and stood it's full 9' height in the cave. It roared out as it picked Rio off the ground her feet kicking in the air. It looked around at its pray, and then Rio for a moment longer. It tossed her across the cave and into the water. As soon as she hit the water she gasped out inhaling the icy cold water. She surface coughing and gasping heavily her hands searching frantically for something to grab.
The creature roared out again as it charged toward Malcom and Daniel. It's hand swinging knocking them both up against the cavern wall. It quickly moved grabbing both Malcom and Daniel by the necks lifting them off the ground.

Without even time to think about what had happened to Rio, or if she was ok, Daniel felt himself being hoisted up into the air and felt the air being cut off from his lungs. He grasped at the hand as he tried to get the hand off, but it’s grip was too strong. He did the next best thing he could, pulling out his gun and pointing it at the monster.
He was too close to miss, and fired as many shots as he could before it threw him across the cave like it had Rio. He hit the wall and landed in a heap on the ground, laying there for a moment and gasping for breath.
When he could breath, albeit shallowly because of the pain that radiated through his whole body, he pulled himself to a sitting position against the cave wall and aimed his gun again. His arm burned as he held it straight, but he did so and fired another round to get the creatures attention. And to alert the mercenaries. Gunfire would travel to the house, they would come running.

"Damn, either they grow them big in Yellowstone or someone has been chowing down on more than pic-a-nic baskets."
Unable to aim whilst being held off the ground by the creature, Malcom settled for firing his MP5K wildly into what he assumed was centre mass. The muzzle flash and his swinging light gave brief glimpses of it, but not enough to make any educated guesses for it's identity or species. It reacted angrily by dropping him to the ground and swinging both hands down to crush him. Malcom scrambled out of the way at almost the last second, losing his gun to a glancing hit and diving into the water.
Tough and fast, hopefully it doesn't have smarts either....Rio?
The flashlight illuminated Rio struggling to keep afloat, Malcom swam over and grabbed her around the waist, pulling her towards the edge of the water where she could stand on solid ground.
"Take cover kid, I kinda dropped my gun somewhere so this might take a little longer." He scanned around with his light towards the sound of the gunshots, hoping to find the creature close by.

Rio shivered as Malcom held her in the more shallow part of the water. His flash light reflected off the water allowing it to illuminate part of the cavern. She was tired and exhausted, and the water wasn't helping her in that area either. Her fingers were numb, and the icy water bit at her body like the clothing wasn't even there. She wanted to cry at the present moment, but she was to scared to do anything. The creature's foot steps echoed around the cave making it difficulte to hear where it was coming from, but the moment it stepped into the light it was obvious that it was heading for Daniel. Rio cried out at the realization that her friend was hurt, but struggled to fend off the creature. She did the only thing she could think of. With trimbling hands she splashed water at the creature trying to get it's attention.
She thought that maybe if she could get it's attention that Daniel may have a better chance of getting to Malcom's weapon that he had lost. Except something happened that she didn't expect. As barley a few drops of water touched the creature's sking it cried out as if the water was acid to it's body. It turned to bare it's teeth at Rio, and the light went on in her head. Still freezing, and struggling against the move she splashed more water out of the pool. The creature roared again before taking off down the same passage it had originally come from. When she figured it was safe enough they climbed out of the water. Rio stumbled over to Daniel and with trimbling fingers placed them on his shoulders. "A- are you okay?" she asked with chattering teeth. She looked back at Malcom. "T- try wringing out your cloths as best as you can." she said before looking at Daniel again.
