Okay, anybody got any new news about Darkside Chronicles? I was just thinking maybe its a leadup to an RE2 REmake, the I thought, nah... could it? It'd be great though.

What kind of news do you want? I've got all kinds, because apparently no one else on this board wants to actively look for the information >_>

Damn it, I want to know what the third scenario is already! Is it Leon's South America chapter or not? ... sigh-esque
I have a feeling Steve has truly passed though, one of the bonus BG images insists on this. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, but the Steve in Darkside Chronicles appears less of a tool than in Code Veronica.
But I can push RE2 and Code Veronica asside fairly leniently just to get my hands on the untold chapter.

Hmm, I like both of these games, my favourite games. Even with RE2's numerous time and plot holes.

it has pretty much been confirmed through Leon's tweets (>_< is all I can think for them making Twitter accounts for their characters) that the 3rd scenario is South America, but there should be a fourth one as well that we don't know about, assuming Capcom is following a similar formula to Umbrella Chronicles where there were 4 main scenarios (RE0, REmake, RE3 and Russia) with their own sub-scenarios

I don't think that's happening. After I finished playing the Umbrella Chronicles I knew straight away that there would be a second game, maybe not necessarily of the same calibre, but it would have been something like: RE2, CVX, RE4, new scenario. However it looks like RE4 is being left out of this one, which I don't have that much of a problem with, but there'll be more chapters in each scenario this time around I presume. Rather than the standard three for each like in the Umbrella Chronicles.
I also have to point out that the locations for each game have actually been given a face lift, even CV which was 3D itself.
The thing is, in the Umbrella Chronicles it was clear that Capcom had cheated its way out of development by porting maps from the Outbreak titles, and likely porting watered down versions of non-prerendered areas from REmake and RE0 on the gamecube. Same goes for character models, simple port of Chris and Jill, Rebecca and Billy. Then all they had to make was the Russia campaign setting and a new Chris and Jill. Plus Jill and Carlos for the RE3 scenario. Even Ada and HUNK could have been straight out of RE4's Mercinaries.
No to mention all the areas motion capture was reused during in game quick time events.
But with RE2 and CVX they can do that, they need to remake everything because there hasn't been a remake for 2, and the graphics from CVX are far outdated. So I presume they're cutting down on the amount of chapters for the sake of not having to make even more content.
Also, I have to note, I watched on gameplay piece of Leon and Claire when they first entered the police station and encountered the Licker. When it jumped at Claire I jumped aswell, plus adding on top with Leon shouting "Where'd it go!" I think this could be the first RE in a while to incorporate 'horror' with 'survival'.

probably, but it is called Darkside Chronicles, and the director blog has mentioned many times that they are incorporating a darker feeling both in the atmosphere while playing and storywise as well.
Also (I'm not that big on programming stuff so bare with me here) to your point about everything looks redone... wouldn't that HAVE to be the case since they're switching to the Havok engine and no other RE games have used that graphics engine before? I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me.
Also since people keep commenting on other boards that while character models like Claire's have had major redesigns (one of the blog posts was making a big deal about how big Claire's ass had to be and how much of her belly they were going to show with her new RE2 model) there is still the likely even that some characters will still look like they've been somewhat copy-pasted from other games and my evidence for this is Ada Wong, you will notice that in RE2 she didn't have the thigh holster, or really anything outside of her red dress, all of that was from her Mercenaries outfit (not like there's a problem with that, I liked that outfit and first thought it was a nice shot at nostalgia, like Leon's RPD outfit, and when I saw her with that layout in the DSC pics I actually didn't get outraged by it)

I'm not outraged, I think it's clever and pushes the game out faster.
What I mean by major redesign though is that there is no HD version of either RE2 or CVX while every other title has graphics level with the Wii. RE0, REmake, and the mapping of Outbreak were all suitable.
As for Havok, when it comes to modelling it isn't an issue with a differentiation of engine, you do have to rework it all together but you don't have to recreate models.
Before anyone comments on RE0 and REmakes prerendered backgrounds, it'd be simple to open the file/s and reduce the polygon count to compensate for hardware.
But yeah, Capcom have recycled lots with the Chronicles series; whether people have issues with that is beyond me, but it raises production value and lets developers focus on other areas (Like making a freaking Awesome South America scenario for Leon).
Edit> Just thought I'd note. I'll sticky this thread once we're closer to the release date.

Also Mew, if Gamestop and gamefaqs are anything to go by, the release date appears to be November 17, 2009

I might have some info on the actual gameplay if anyone would like it. I played a demo at Comic-Con and it was really... realistic. My friend and I played the first level of the RE2 scenario and the camera is really shaky. It's very hard to get a headshot. But it was really realistic and fun. It's as if you are actually running, not sliding around, although most of you may know that. I hope this helped a little. I could describe more about the level, but only if you guys want me to.

Yes, it does look realistic, but hopefully it's not shaky enough that it looks like people being s*** scared, come on, one kick to the head and their head pretty much falls off, but no. That's probably only the one thing in RE that annoys me, and I only thought of it cause I had to be steel toed boots, buy some, kick 'em in the head and they're dead.
