Figured I'd whip up a thread for things a little bigger than you want to share which can't fit into a post in the C-box. General chatting can go on in here as well. It'll help with the full on arguments, conversations, et al.
Annual anime and sci-fi convention swung 'round this weekend. Missed it the past two years due to fundings being dry, so I hopped onboard madly throwing money at shiney stuff.
Michael Winslow (Police Academy, voice of a thousand sounds) was, like, the primary reason to get involved; that man is just so damn cool. Every other celebrity seminar was crappy Q&A and boring gibberish (Fact it was all Twilight celebs may have enforced this) but Winslow actually went out of his way to do a stand up for everyone. Most noteably hilarious was his entire dubbing of the scene in Star Wars Ep.4 of the Millenium Falcon coming under attack from TIE fighters, voices, sound effects, everything. Made me laugh to tears.
Being my first convension I figured I would try to get something signed by a celeb if there was anyone there I knew. Eliza Dushku was there, and I figured I'd get her to sign my copy of WET; for kicks.
Signatures turned out to be $30 each ($40 for Eliza because she was the main celeb). My reaction being: "You know what, I didn't care that much anyway,"
Most memorable cosplays: - Captain MacMillan / Ghillie Suit Guy (CoD:MW) - Splicers from Bioshock - Rorscach. Honestly, he just walked around doin' nothing and spooking everyone in the process. It was badass. - One helluva detailed (Nolan) Batman. - There were storm troopers everywhere too. An ewok jumped on one.

My first con was a total letdown. It was called Kunicon, and it sounded WONDERFUL. I went decked out as myself [Thomas Belmont], complete with weapons a-plenty. A lot of horrible crap happened though, including a fire. Anyway... The last con I went to, and probably will have gone to until Ellie's old enough to manage loud, large places nicely, was Nan Desu Kan '08. Aside from my wife running around as her Pirate-persona and myself as my Vampirekiller, we went as other favorites of ours. She went running around in Basic Training-esque pants and shirt, both grey, with the shirt reading "ODST", and myself as Elliott Salem, in "Old School Heavy Armor" from Army Of Two, dragging around a very heavy newspaper-stuffed hunk of armor representing Rios. [As in, he was injured to the point of collapsing, and I was dragging him away from danger for like, half an hour at a time.] In the USA, "real" looking guns are kinda banned in cons, as spurs over using real guns have caused plenty of controversy, so I had to make due with a modded-Nerf Longshot. ._. But yeah, anyway. Thirty bucks for a fookin' autograph? Sucks to be you. Then again, they did fly all the way to Kangaroo-land to see you lot, so I expect the fee to be there... I got to meet Richard Epcar [Bateau: Ghost In The Shell, Zigguratt 8: Xenosaga, just about every anime/video game with voice acting], Stephen Jay Blum [Spike Spigal, Cowboy Beebop, Mugen of Samurai Champloo, ect.], and a ton of other voice actors for FREE. I even talked to Richard while he was walking around the property. D: He acknowledged my existence. s*** was so cash. Best part: They played Whose Line is it Anime , with the four of them all on stage at once. It was the single greatest experience of my life.

FIREFOX HAS AN ANNOYING AUTOCORRECTION SYSTEM. >:C And trying to find subroutines around it just seems unnecessary. I can stop most autocorrections, but Firefox adjusts itself for me.
THANK YOU FIREFOX.

Auto-correction? Can't you undo that? Bebop should run smoothly anyway; but Bateau? What is that? Some sort of reversed Plateau?
Anyways. Popped out and picked up MGS: Peace Walker today. Had to swap my PSP as well because there was residue on the inside of the screen highlighting pixels and what not, looked really bad on PSOne games and dark levels. So now it's gone from Turquois to Silver. Silver's kinda cool, but I do miss my Turque.

Oh yeah, I always had planned to grab the game. Had it preordered for ages. It was only just released here in Australia, though; is why I'm raving about it.

Well I've been playing RDR pretty much all day because I've been stuck at my dad's house thanks to car repairs (100 miles away from where I live, which is lame). Thanks to RDR, I've been keeping sane til I leave tomorrow. Of course, at that point I'll be living with my friend who doesn't have internet, or my friend with really weak internet. I'll be on consistently, just not as often.
Overall my day was good but also kinda bland.

Finished Peace Walker, sorta. I think it goes on a little further or something. The ending was awesome either way. PW is the best Metal Gear Solid game to date. It's nearly a shame it wasn't proposed for larger consoles where we could get a massive experience rather than having it want to explode our handhelds from the sheer Awesome.
Couple'a interesting things, spoilers if you haven't finished the game yet.
I'm guessing Strangelove ends up Otacon's mother in the end. It feels kinda weird knowing who his mum is now after Otacon explains the apparent incest that occurred while his sister drowned in the pool outside their house.
It's also good to see how Snake truly becomes Big Boss at the end of this game. For too long did Solid Snake and Big Boss seem one and the same, then at the end of Guns of the Patriots they both appear and feel like very different people. The sending out of his bandana and the acceptance of his true codename, it's sort of a sign that we won't get another Metal Gear Solid game playing as Big Boss anymore. Either way, it's a fitting end for the prequel history leading up to Solid Snake's story.

Are you sure you finished it? Because it's not really over till the second time you see the credits...

Finished Peace Walker, sorta. I get that there's more Dee, it made itself prominant when it said "Continued in Chapter 5" so I gathered there's a fair bit more, but I wanted to share my thoughts after the finale The Boss gives us. I love The Ghost in the Shell analogy. Granted, it's probably not spot on GitS, but it stirred up the GitS fan in me once Strangelove implied The Boss' ghost was in the Mammal Pod.
