The Bar is a previously abandoned, independently owned pub, which is part of a large complex of buildings, seperated into six sections. The Bar is located one and two stories underground, in a basement setting, and was still partially under construction during the time that the outbreak began. Despite the exposed piping, plywood, unpainted walls, and unfinished flooring, The Bar had been fully open for business for several months, and was rather popular, due to its central Downtown Raccoon City setting. The actual name of The Bar is currently unknown, and it is likely that it was never given a name to begin with.
The front entrance of The Bar is located directly between a cafe and a restaurant, which are both part of a three-story shopping complex. The front doors have been replaced by a pair of three-inch-thick steel panels, which are connected to tracks on the exterior ground and walls, which permit the doors to slide outward. The doors must be manually operated, and are secured by three seperate latches on the interior end. At eye level, a half foot-tall opening on each door allows residents to peer outside, and can be manually opened and closed using steel shutters.
On the interior end of the foot-long doorway, another pair of horizontal sliding shutters provide extra protection. They consist of steel wire fencing, woven tightly together enough to allow plenty of space to see past, but not enough to reach through. In order to enter or exit the building, both sets of shutters must be passed. Upon entering the building, a small ground-level room must be passed through, which leads to a short, sloped hallway, which then leads to the main room of The Bar. Ceiling-high fencing has been applied to the railing that seperates the two levels of the main room, which forces residents to walk to the end of the railing, then take the short staircase to the lowest level, which is where all activities take place.
At the back of the lowest level of The Bar, a cargo lift that leads to another establishment at ground level is operated by a small control panel, that has only two buttons-- 'up' and 'down'. The lift can only be operated from the lower level of The Bar-- it cannot be raised, nor lowered from the abandoned thrift store above. A second control panel was original intended to be placed, but due to the current state of construction on both buildings during the weeks prior to the outbreak, was never completed. As a result, in order for a person (or any cargo) to be lowered on the lift from the thrift store, a second person must be operating the control panel from the lower levels of The Bar.

[Prologue: Discovery] [/u][/i][/center] [One Week Previously...] Night had long past fallen on Raccoon City, and an unusually violent blizzard had been raging on for several hours. Everything was dark, and the moonlight was barely visible through the thick flurry of snow that fell from the sky, unwaveringly. The landscape was completely obscured, and Allison stumbled as she attempted to wade her way through the knee-deep snow beneath her. She shivered, teeth chattering as she furiously tugged at the dark gray buttons on her beige trench coat. The coat and snow cap that she had lifted from an abandoned shop earlier in the day weren't doing her much good, and hypothermia was beginning to set in. She knew she was going to need somewhere to take shelter for the night-- preferably somewhere underground, such as the basement of a shop. On the street corner not too far ahead, Allison could faintly see a dark red, flickering neon sign, hanging from the side of one of the buildings. It looked as though part of the sign had fallen off, and only the word "Bar" remained lit. Allison took a moment to think, and began to crave the warmth of alcohol. Potential alcohol aside, it looked as good a place as any for shelter. She began making her way toward it. As she approached the street corner, she noticed an infected man leaning against the front door, which was closed. It was facing away from her, and its moaning was nearly completely drowned out by the blizzard. Allison began making her way toward the zombie, creeping silently-- not that she had to try to be silent, with the snow storm raging as it was. She approached the man's back, then reached inside her coat and down to her leg, retrieving her knife. Allison whipped her trench balisong out, flicking open the blade with a fancy wrist maneuver. Raising one hand, she tapped the zombie on its shoulder, and took a step back. The infected man whipped his head around to face her, and groaned loudly. With a single thrust, Allison jammed the blade of her butterfly knife into the man's skull via his eye socket, then tore it out with a quick motion. The zombie fell limp and toppled to the ground and into a bed of snow. Allison bent down and scooped up a handful of fresh snow to clean her blade off, then flicked it shut, slipping it back into its sheath. Allison nudged the zombie's body out of the way, and began examining the front door of the bar. It was pure steel-- a few inches thick. Four vertical steel shutters, about two and a half inches in width and less than a fourth of an inch in thickness, were built into the door at eye level, presumably to allow a person on the inside to see whoever was at the door. On the outside, there wasn't much of a handle to grab at, but Allison managed to pry the door open a few inches with her fingers. The door was on tracks, and slid to the left. Luckily, it wasn't locked, and the tracks were on the interior, which prevented snow buildup from making things difficult. Allison shoved the door open far enough to allow her to enter. She squeezed through the opening, then slid the door shut behind her. Upon entering the Bar, a motion-sensitive light flicked on, and illuminated the entire interior. Allison looked around, finding herself in a small hallway, which was more of a ramp that led to the lower levels. A second pair of sliding doors were on the inside, however, were not made out of solid steel. The two sliding panels were made of wire fencing, and slid shut, meeting at the center. Allison guided the door panels over the exterior door, further blocking off the entrance. She toyed with the lock latch that bound the doors shut, and eventually figured out how it worked. However, she left it unlatched, in case something else resided in this building and she needed to make a hasty escape. Allison removed the snow cap from her head, shoving it into her pocket, and letting her hair fall down to her shoulders. She shrugged her suppressed AK off of her shoulder, and aimed it forward down the hallway ramp. She took small steps, slowly proceeding forward and making her way to the bottom of the narrow ramped hallway. Reaching the bottom, the hallway broke out into a large room, which was divided in the center by thick metal bars. The half of the room that she was on was raised nearly six feet off from the other half. At the end of the railing, a small staircase led down to the other half of the room. Allison made her way down the small ten-step staircase and further scanned the room. The place was trashed, but, however, did not appear to have been looted, as there were several different types of valuables strung across the room. Recognizing that the building was completely clear of threats, Allison slung her rifle back over her shoulder and walked toward the wooden bar table at the center of the lower level. Walking around back, she gazed underneath the counter. Dozens of bottles were lined side-by-side, all filled with booze of different types, and half of the under-counter space was filled with a twenty-bottle wine rack. Allison smirked, and knelt down to to the wine rack. She reached for a random bottle and lifted it out of its place. The label described the wine as a certain flavor of a certain vintage from a certain orchard of a certain brand-- but Allison didn't waste her time reading it. She swiftly popped the cork with her knife and took a swig directly from the bottle. Allison closed her eyes, smiled, and took a moment to enjoy the faux-warmth from the alcohol. Setting the bottle down on the bar counter top, Allison looked around the room once again. An idea struck her, and she smirked, then gave an ever-so-slight nod of approval. [Chapter 1: Just Business] [/u][/i][/center] [Present Day:] It had been a week since Allison discovered the abandoned underground bar. She had plans-- big plans-- for the place. She had fantasized about the idea of leading her own group of mercenaries in the past-- and this bar could potentially help her bring that idea to life... in style. Allison spent the week cleaning up the place and tossing out trash. However, the furniture was rather old, and she had plenty of other ideas for decoration and renovation-- but, she would need help. Allison had contacts in the mercenary business. People respected her, and surely plenty of other people would enjoy the right-out-of-the-movies idea of an underground bar owned by a band of classy mercenaries. It didn't take Allison long to make up her mind. ~~ Allison lifted her phone from her pocket, punched in several numbers, then lifted it to her ear. "Ceaser, it's Allison," she said into the phone. "Oh, believe me, you'll wanna hear this," she told him. She then proceeded to tell him of her idea, and the location of the bar. "Sure, bring a friend. I've got one more person to invite, myself. The more the merrier," she smirked. Allison ended the call, then dialed another number. [Several Hours Later...]

"Ceaser, it's Allison. Oh, believe me, you'll wanna hear this." The voice over the phone said, and Ceaser couldn’t help but smirk. She went on with her idea, and his smirk broke into a wide grin. Her tone sounded so excited. He could tell she was ecstatic about her idea. And he had to admit, it was a good one. Backup was always nice to have. A place you could call yours, that was extra nice. He was in as soon as she brought up the concept.
“Sounds great. I’m in. Got someone else to bring along, you ok with that?” He asked as he looked over at Taryn for a moment.
"Sure, bring a friend. I've got one more person to invite, myself. The more the merrier.” She said. He could hear the smirk in her voice.
“You got it. Be there in an hour. We’re in town.” He said as he hung up the phone. He looked over to Taryn as she said goodbye to the people she had been contracted to help out of the city. He walked over and clapped a hand on her shoulder.
“Got another job, sort of.” He said as he watched the family leave. “You can decide if you want in when we get there. It’s semi permanent work.” He said as he motioned for her to follow him out into the reinforced area that used to be a parking lot outside the terminal.
-------------------------
“This is the place.” Ceaser said, stepping out of the car. The place looked pretty run down, sure, but if what Allison had said was true, it had real potential. He walked over to the door and found that it wasn’t locked. He waved Taryn to follow and came to the inner doors, which were locked. He expected that.
Banging his fist on the door a few times, he turned to look behind him at the open street. Not much going on at the moment, but that could change if the undead got a whiff of them. He rested his hand on the grip of the 1911 at his side and kept his eyes scanning the street.

== At the Airport ==
Taryn nodded to Ceasar. She looked back at the family and then down at the bag of cash and diamonds that they paid her. It was fortunate that she had run into him here, at the Raccoon City Airport. They had worked together before, a small job here, an escort there. If it hadn't been for those stupid raiders, forcing her to detour for a bit, she would have totally missed him.
Now, she had the opportunity to work again and those punk bastards were rotting in the road... or else walking again.
She nodded over to her ride with her head and then loaded up her shotgun. "Let's go." Taryn wasn't much for words.
== At the Bar ==
"Looks like a dump, though looks can be deceiving." That was all that Taryn would say. She had pulled her car into the alley beside the bar and locked it up. Slung over her back was her shotgun and her SL8 was in her hands. They had entered the first set of doors and then Mikey had banked on the inner doors. Taryn automatically turned around and aimed her rifle back down the street. "Hope she answers the door soon enough."

Allison awoke to the sound of a vehicle on the surface. She had dozed off on one of the couches while waiting for the others to arrive. Glancing down at her wrist watch, she tried to figure out how long she was out. The digital watch said "5:14PM", so she had only been out for an hour or so. Allison leapt off the couch, leaving her rifle on top of her coat, which was lying beside one of the arm rests. She trotted toward the stairs, and reached behind to her holster while she ascended them, making sure her revolver was still tightly secured. She unbuttoned the strap that held it in its place, then lifted it out. She made her way up the ramped hallway and to the front door.
Ceaser and his companion were already trying to get in, and were stuck behind the fencing panels that were latched shut via a simple mechanism. They could be opened rather easily from the inside, but the wire fencing didn't provide enough space to slip something past to unlock it from the outside.
"Hey, hey, hey," Allison said, grinning, as she unlatched the fencing.
Allison slid both fence panels outward, but stood in the way while she looked the woman that Ceaser brought up and down. She fixed her eyes on the woman's 'NCIS' cap, then groaned.
"Really? You brought a cop?"

"Hey, hey, hey." He heard Allison say as she opened the door from the inside, the doors opening and Ceaser’s face wearing a grin to match hers. A grin that dropped just as quickly when she gave Taryn a once over.
"Really? You brought a cop?" She asked, and Ceaser let out a sigh. He didn’t have a problem with cops, personally. They did cause a problem on certain jobs, sure, but he was able to recognize that they were only doing their jobs. Just like him. And he tried to go out of his way to avoid them if he could, at the very least not kill them if he had to confront them.
“Technically a federal agent. And a former federal agent, at that. Trust me, she isn’t a law enforcement office anymore, I’m not stupid.” He said. He had figured that whatever was going on here would be a little less than legal at times, and if Taryn had still been with NCIS, he would have avoided her after their first meeting. But she was just like them, a merc.
“It’s all cool.” He said, trying to reassure Allison.

Taryn stepped inside the door and then held her rifle down and away from the new girl and Mikey. She kept her finger off the trigger, but held the gun ready. She knew Mikey and trusted him, but she didn't know this woman. She gave her a simple smile when she mentioned that she was a cop.
And she snorted. She opened her mouth to let the woman know that she was wrong when Mikey did it for her. At the end, Taryn simply shrugged.
"I can put on a Mikey Mouse cap, but it doesn't mean I work for Disneyland either", she said drily. "I used to work for NCIS, but was dishonorably discharged for taking the law into my hands. They couldn't prove it, so they just fired me. I took my leave with a cache of weapons and a ride and went for hire, but I find it sometimes useful to people to think that I'm a federal agent."
She looked over at Alison and then at Mikey. "Seriously, If I need to leave, it's okay."

Allison groaned again.
"Great, so, not a cop, but a fed-- and, a loose cannon, at that. Even better," she shrugged, sarcastically, completely ignoring the fact that they mentioned she wasn't in the business anymore.
Allison wasn't fond of cops-- or federal agents, for that matter. She'd had had plenty of bad run-ins with them in the past. Regardless, Allison decided she'd give the girl a chance. Stepping out of the way, Allison allowed Ceaser and the woman to enter, then shut the doors behind them and took lead down the hallway. Upon reaching the bottom of the hallway slope, she made her way toward the stairs, and descended them to the lower level. Allison then made her way around the back of the bar counter while Ceaser and the woman made their way down the stairs, and leaned against it.
"Well," Allison spoke to Ceaser and the woman from the other side of the bar. "I'm Allison," she said to the woman in a neutral, professional tone, and extended her arm for a handshake.

"There, see, let's play nice." Ceaser said as he looked from one woman to the other. He hoped there wasn't a catfight in the making. He wasn't sure if he would be in a hurry to get between them. They were both packing.
"Allison, if she wasn't straight up, I wouldn't bring her here. You owe me that much, don't you? A bit of trust? We've been through a lot together." He said, almost pleading. He liked this idea, he wanted it to work. And he had two people that he considered good friends, as little as he actually knew about them aside. He was quick to make friends, slow to bring them close. Friends were always good until they became a liability. As long as they continued to hold up to their end of the bargin, he had no problems. He watched the two exchange remarks, Taryn offering to leave if she needed to. Ceaser was about to shake his head when Allison spoke out in a neutral tone, offering Taryn her hand. Ceaser let loose a small grin and smacked his hand on the bar.
"There, see? It's not so hard to place nice. Come on, let's have a drink. And while we're at it, where's the guy you called up?" He asked her, suddenly remembering she had said she had another call to make when he was searching his mind for a change of subject.

Taryn followed Mikey and Allison down the ramp and stairs to the lower level. She let Mikey stay between them. She knew from past experiences that it could be pretty tense having someone behind you packing heat, so she tried to alleviate the situation. As she got to the stairs, she put the safety on the rifle an slung it over her shoulders.
“Taryn”, said Taryn, sticking out her hand over the bar top to shake Allison’s. She looked around the bar. “Nice place. It was probably a money maker back even before the outbreak.”
”There, see? It's not so hard to place nice. Come on, let's have a drink. And while we're at it, where's the guy you called up?"
Taryn rolled her eyes a bit, but she smiled. The thought of a drink did sound good right about now. She listened as Mikey and Allison spoke about a fourth person… someone that Allison knew.
It would be unlikely that Taryn knew this other person. She hadn’t been in the gun-for-hire business too long and she didn’t take certain jobs. That, coupled with her usual loner type attitude meant that there really wasn’t much in the way of teamwork with others. Mikey was one of the few exceptions. The money had been good… and she had come to trust him, so she would always consider working with him.
“Who’s the 4th person?” She asked out of curiosity.

Johnny had finally found the place he was called to. Downtown Raccoon wasn't exactly where he wanted work, considering it was where his sister bit the big one fourteen years back. Plus it was pretty damn dangerous being ground zero and all. The money didn't matter much to him, he had all he needed if he wanted to back out and head into Vegas to cash in.
Really, this job was just to keep his hands busy and his aim sharp. Either way, he ventured further on by foot until he reached the heavily secured door which was wide open with three others standing inside, must have been the two Miller had told him about earlier.
"Who's the fourth person?" a woman asked as he neared the doorway. He stood tall and firm before grinning, scratching at his stubbly chin.
"I think that'd be me," he responded, folding his arms and moving deeper inside, arching his neck to get a good look at the place, from what he could see, it was holding up pretty well. Wasn't appealing to the eye, really, but he didn't care much, there was booze in his immediate future.
"So which one of you ladies is Allison Miller?"

Allison shook hands with the woman, firmly, as she announced her name-- Taryn. Ceaser went on to ask about the fourth person that Allison had invited, and that very person-- Johnny-- had already made his way into the bar and was making his way down.
Johnny announced his presence, approaching from behind Ceaser and Taryn. He then asked which one of them was Allison, to which she responded by raising her hand slightly, making a bit of a smile, and tilting her head.
"That'd be me," she told him. "Glad you made it," she added. "Johnny, right?"

Ceaser turned to look at the newcomer, what looked to be an unassuming, short, scrawny guy. He introduced himself as Johnny, and Ceaser gave him a wave.
“Come on over, we were just about to start.” He said. Start what, exactly, he didn’t know. But he was sure Allison was going to lay out her plan. What the plan was, he didn’t know. He wasn’t a plan kind of guy. He was an improv kind of guy. You could never go wrong with improvising, because you didn’t actually make a goal to be wrong about. You could end up getting screwed, but that was a whole different story.
“So what’s this idea?” He asked as he nursed a beer she set in front of him.

Taryn nodded at the new man introduced himself. He was smaller than Ceaser, but carried himself with confidence. Either he had the skills... or he thought he did. Time would tell. "I'm Taryn."
Taryn took up a stool at the bar. "Do you have a zinfindel wine spritzer?", she asked, with a deadpan look on her face. Then she broke out into a grin. "Just kidding. Beer it is", she said grabbing the bottle that Allison gave to her. She popped the top off and took a long sip, looking around.
"I used to wait tables in a dive not much bigger than this back in New York City."
She turned her attention back to Allison, to see what she had to say.

Johnny shook Allison's hand and shifted glances between a mousey little girl who attempted to look tough and a mountain of a man who he could only assume was their muscle. He retracted his hand, scratching at the side of his head before squinting an eye whereas Allison had began passing out drinks. He was thirsty, aching for a burn in his throat but as uncomfortable as he'd felt right now, he decided he'd rather watch his back. Doing that, meant keeping away any buzz.
"So, Ace," he began, quirking a brow at his new boss. "What exactly are we here to do?"
He was sure she might have explained it to him prior to their physical meet, but it slipped his mind. Either way, he wanted to know details about why he was called, who the other two were and just what the hell this Bar was for.
