Scoffing at Toast's reaction, the General looked him in the eyes and said, "Now that you're working for me, we're going to become great friends. If you don't like it, you are the one who chose to work for me in the first place." he said, smug as always. "Although I may have had a bit of leverage, it was still your choice, nothing will change that from being the truth, although perhaps stretching the truth a little. I am growing sick of your threats and the next time it happens, I'll have no problem terminating you. Am I clear?" the frustration in his voice was clear, he was not lying about his threat towards Toast.
With a sigh, Abigail looked at the both of them, and said, "Christ, can we get on with this? Toast, I understand that we're not at the friendliest of situations with him, but at the moment, my family is at risk. I'm not happy about this either, but we're going to have to cooperate with him."
"Abigail knows her place." the General said, before answering the questions Toast had asked. "I have nothing to hide, and I have no intention of double-crossing you." a smirk grew on his face, knowing that Toast saw right through the guise of the operation. "The captors were simply mercenaries, no meta-humans involved. We had hired them to capture the Abigail's siblings, but they had grown impatient at our lack of immediate payment. While they had found them hiding in Las Vegas, before going AWOL, we last picked them up somewhere in the tropics of Brazil." he lit a cigar, and began to smoke after he had discussed the basics.
"Would they have killed my brother and sister soon after going AWOL?" she asked, the answer was already clear in her mind, though. She was certain that they would have already been killed, and the mission would no longer be a mission of rescue, but a mission of revenge. If they were dead, she wasn't sure if she would be able to resist slaughtering everyone of the bastards that had taken them.
"We are not sure of that, but we do know that they were taken with them. Meaning that they may have had some use for them yet. Perhaps to sell them into slavery, or as a bargaining chip for something else." he said.
"I understand." Abigail said, fear that her siblings may have been killed lingering in her voice.
"Good, he said. "We have a private jet ready to drop you two off at the last-known coordinates of the mercenaries. In Brazil, they would not be able to stay in one place very long, as the infected have been known to have heightened senses in those areas. When you are ready, just head to the hangar and board your flight. Supplies will be ready for you there, and if you wish to rest, you may do so on the flight." he said. "I wish the two of you good luck on your mission."
Without a second thought, Abigail made her way into the hangar. Time was ticking fast. Any minute now the mercenaries may tire of bringing along her brother and sister. She would save them if it was the last thing she'd do.
