"Gotcha!" Dalton allowed Shane to take Nova from him and he turned around to face the small opening in the fence. Right now the undead hadn't reached it, but soon they would be pushing to get through it and to topple the fence.
Even though they hadn't reached the door, he pulled out his H&K G36 and took aim at the first row of undead. He pulled the trigger so quickly that most people thought it would have been set to auto fire, but Dalton was that quick and his enhanced vision gave him accurate sight, especially at this range. He raked the first row and then traversed his sights back across the group, catching the second row. Spent shells flew from the gun as the 5.56 rounds flew from the gun. A third row started to fall when he had to stop and reload. It was only a second before the clip dropped, and he was forcing in another one. He didn't bother to pick up the spent mag... it would just waste time. Again the barrel was up and the rest of the third row was mowed down. Then he started in on the 4th row as the rest reached the fence. The undead were piling up, forming a barrier that the others behind them had to get past, but Dalton knew that he didn't have enough ammo to take care of all of them. As the 2nd magazine was emptied, he slung the weapon on his back and took out his katana. Then he pushed a metal dumpster up against the fence, effectively blocking it off.
That only left the door now and he could hold that for as long as his body allowed.
As the undead began to push their way past their fallen comrades, Dalton was there, slashing through their necks. Heads, with jaws still snapping, fell to the ground along side the bodies that they had belonged to. Within a few moments, he was building another barrier at the door. It was then that he grabbed up the first empty magazine and put it back in his pocket. He also changed out the magazine in his G36.

Nova pulled out both guns as Shane moved through the yards. With steady aim and accuracy thanks to a lot of training. She fired at the walkers that approached or were in their path. "Shane," she called out as she spotted an unusual shed in the next yard. "I think that's what your looking for. The house also kinda gives away that it belongs to a higher up," she pointed out. She looked to the trees of the forest and then behind them where Dalton was keeping the others at bay. "I don't like this. We all know there's more to those woods now, and all this noise may attacked some unwanted attention," she pointed out.

Reaching the back of the house he put Nova down and drew his weapon. The reds were concentrating on Dalton but a few walkers came out of the woods. Like a reflex action he drew his weapon and let out three bullets. The walkers than stopped in place as the bullets glowed red hot soon causing the heads to burst into flames. "We're not going into the woods anymore." Quickly he moved leaves and debri and found a "Fruit Cellar" with a bulletproof door and keypad. Taking out his notepad he cross referenced the house address, the owner with known access codes and punched them in one by one. "DALTON COME ON, FOUND AN EXIT!" With that said the third passcode he was provided unlocked the door and he quickly helped Nova inside holding it open with weapon in hand keeping watch until Dalton arrived.

Dalton downed another walker with a thrust of the sword. By now they were so packed together that Dalton couldn't swing through it. Instead, he began to thrust the tip of the blade through the weak bone area between the eyes of the undead, right above the nose. This actually worked better as it would destroy the brain.
"On your six, boss!"
With one last jab, Dalton turned and sprinted off toward Shane and Nova. A screech behind him told him that the mass of undead were pushing their way through the fence and moving the steel dumpster. Within a few seconds, he had sprinted the distance between them, sword in hand. Nova was back on her feet and she had two guns in her hands.
And then the dizzyiness started to affect Dalton. He slowed a bit and shook his head. Then, just as he passed Nova, he sheathed his sword and took out the rest of his beef jerky. Immediately he began to feed on it like the undead feed on a living body, tearing into the dried and preserved meat, swallowing chunks of meat, just to get it into his body.
"I must have exerted more energy than I thought", he said between bites.

Nova used the wall to help her move across further into the cellar. She looked back as Dalton entered the cellar. "If food gives you back energy then we need to find more. Those beef jerkies wont keep you sustained," she said as she finally sat down. She looked over at Shane she nodded slightly. "I'm slowly getting my legs back. Give me a few and I should be back up to par." She looked down at her watch and sighed a bit. "It's not lasting as long as it use to." She looked over at Dalton. "Are you going to be okay?"

Seeing Dalton eating made Shanes slightly dumbfounded and agitated. "Their should be plenty of food inside. This is a high tech bunker meant to support high valued employees for months until extraction. My guess is it should have artillery as well as an alternated access to the emergency tunnel system."

Dalton nodded and swallowed down the last of his jerky.
"I'll be okay. The virus regenerates my cells, but it burns through my food supply three times as fast. I have to eat along, especially when I exert alot of energy or else my body starts feeding on itself."
Dalton did indeed feel better. The dizziness was gone and he didn't have a headache.
"The more protein the better. Well let's get down there and complete this job."
He readied his gun, switching to the MP5 instead of the G36.

Nova nodded as she slowly followed behind the others. She was up and walking, but her body still felt shaky. She shook her head trying to get her thoughts together. Looking up Shane had opened the door into the bunker. She followed in leaning up against the wall. Looking down at her watch she noted the level of the virus in her body. "Well were pretty far from the creature that made that whole in the road. i can't hear anything beyond the wall, but if it's reinforced I wouldn't be able to hear it." She pushed off the wall and made her way up to Shane. "So what are you thinking?"

After everyone was in he punched a button sealing the cellar door followed by a second sliding metallic door. Climbing down he turned on his flashlight revealing what seemed to be an average fruit cellar. There were assorted boxes and barrels. In the back was a wine rack which he headed to with a brisk job still feeling the adreniline. He began looking each one over tapping each lightly with his flashlight listening to the ring that resulted. "Okay Dalton. I have a confession to make. I think I know now that I can fully trust you." The last bottle her checked did not ring but make a hollow thunk. He then turned to face both Dalton and Nova. "I was a genetic scientist for the labs here. That's how I know so much about the inner workings and have access to the account I mentioned. I was originally brought in to work on a medication to combat the huntingtons genetic disease. In the end they put me to work towards gene manipulation in a combination of the viruses they developed. I never wanted to do the work but they injected me with a version of the virus that, without maintained by the company I would die if I went rouge." He then turned back around and studied the bottle.
"While working for them I teamed with other scientists secretly working on reverse engineering of the virus. Nova was one of my projects while they were having me work on new super soldiers. She was a failed experiment resulting in her disorder. She was my last before the outbreak so I retrieved her before she was sent to the 'recycling plant'. We now travel from facility to facility where I work on finishing my code to reverse the damaged area's of her genetic code and find a cure for my infection." He then looked at Dalton. "If we get to the labs, I could begin working on the disabled parts of your own manipulation as well." He then turned the bottle %50 to the left. The room shook slightly as the back wall slid open revealing a clean miliary fashioned bunker with computers, weapons, military dehydrated meals and a cabinate of chemicals. Bright neon lights lit up as the generator kicked in.
"You can hate me if you want. I'm sure Nova still will always hold me accountable. I would probably end myself if it wasn't for my mission to correct Umbrella's wrong doings. I don't mean to sound arrogant but with my experience I am one of the few who can work on the level required to restore humanity to the inhuman things I've done and those like me."

Dalton should have known that there was more than what they actually said back at the airport. Perhaps he did know. How else would Shane know exactly where to go? Intel only went so far and Shane acted more like someone who had first hand knowledge. What he said about himself and Nova made sense, even if he didn’t like it.
“I don’t hate you and I’ll still continue one with the job. Both of you have earned a bit of trust with me, so I’m sticking to the mission. As for cooking up my genetic soup some more, sorry… I’ve had enough digging around in my body to last me the rest of my life.”
As the doors opened Dalton took in everything that appeared from the computers to the weapons to the stacks of MREs. “Man, if I didn’t have to find my wife and kid, I’d be willing to live out of here for the rest of my days.”
“So where to now Boss Man?”

Nova looked back as Sane explained himself, but she didn't say anything at the moment. She proceeded to look through the boxes of food trying her best to ignore him. She sighed a bit as she turned to look back at them. "We should eat." She picked up an MRE and looked it over. "They have some good selections." She looked back at Shane. "I don't hate you. There are other things I can call you, but I prefer not to." She opened up the MRE and started shifting around in the food.

Shane looked back at Nova slightly concerned and confused at what she said. Shaking it off he walked to a switchboard and began flipping switches sending the generated electricity to a computer console. He then walked over and after claiming one of the office chairs, hooked in his tablet to the USB port and began typing away. "My situation is rather unique. I don't need the antivirus to stay alive but direct injections of the virus in it's purest forms." Shane began brining up the security networks checking out the rooms and hallways for danger. "To cure myself I need to find a bone marrow donor that matches my own physiology. Finding a match is near impossible, but if that's not enough it has to be one of the patient zero infected subjects." He then smirked. "Bone marrow transplant from a zombie. How crazy is that. On the computer a number of areas blinked red indicating infection. He then looked back at Dalton.
"You know, I know you said you might not want to be cured. However, if you might be interested in joining up with us I could possibly boost your abilities and eliminate the side effects. Nova and I might make a good team but both of us are medically compromised so it is flawed at times." Now seeing the area's of infection he began doing a quick scan for the best route while hacking away at the security door pass codes.

Dalton smiled, but shook his head. "Sorry, Doc. I've had too many people already digging around in me, playing God. I'll stay just the way that I am. As for joining your team, I'll let you know. First I have to find my family. I sent them to Ireland as the outbreak was spreading. Hopefully they are still alive, but I need to go make sure. I have a little girl, Ainsley, she's only 4. Once I make sure they are okay, then I'll let you know."
Dalton grabbed one of the MREs and opened it up, chewing on the corner of the ration bar. Looking over Shane's shoulder, he pointed to the red areas.
"Do you need me to take care of them?"

Nova looked up from eating her MRE as Shane was asking Dalton to join their group after all this. It was a small group, but some how Shane had managed to gather a large group of connections. She looked over at the two as they worked on the computer. "While you decide that," she said as she took to opening up another MRE "Shane has a lot of connections around the world from all of our travels. I'm sure no matter what you decide he can find your family a secure place to live. I may have my moment's where I hate him with a passion, but he is good at finding people safe homes. Yours wouldn't be the first." She dipped her spoon into the chili and started eating.
