The sound of giant twin rotor blades of the CH-47D Chinook loomed over the horizon as the chopper made its way to the destination. The U.S. Army had been kind enough to lend their 160th SOAR pilots to fly the mission to deliver some "reinforcements" on behalf of Umbrella. The Corporation always preferred overkill, strength in numbers, all that jazz.
The Chinook was deemed a last minute replacement to using two UH-60 Black Hawks as the mission planners feared Murphy's Law would come into effect if they tried to over-complicate things.
Within the confines of the bird, sixteen members of this new U.C.O. team were all going through their own ritualistic preparations. For many it would be the first time they actual would get hands on experience with the undead save a few veteran members.
They were drawing closer now, prompting Kennedy to get up and speak into his headset. He had been asked by Commander Darovich to give the mission brief.
"Alright, listen up. Just in case anyone forgot why we're here. Team breakdown. Team one: Captain Xavier, Apollo, Nick Delburton, Placid, Striker, myself. Team two: Sergeant Stromstor, Steve Delburton, Ivan, Lex, Spade, Tenchi. Support element will be Captain Banin and two of his U.B.C.S. men in Sergeant Breed and Rocky in addition to June Starfire."
He let the team composition soak in before continuing.
"Team one is to secure the U.M.F.-013. That is our primary mission. Team two, you will be tasked with securing HVTs (high value targets) and eliminating any resistance such as S.T.A.R.S. or civilians. Detain when you can, kill when you can't. Captain Banin's team will remain at the Clock Tower and set up our ORP (objective rally point) and CCP (casualty collection point)."
"Should you sustain a casualty and it is deemed non-life threatening pop your red smoke and radio it back. If it looks life threatening you will be left behind. ROEs (rules of engagement) are to be determined once we have a better picture of what's going on here. There will be other U.B.C.S. and U.S.S. teams operating in the area so keep that in mind and act professional."
The pilot radioed back "ETA 5 mikes"
"That's all I got, get ready for boots on ground."
The helicopter began its descent then broke into a Pinnacle Maneuver above St. Michael Clock Tower. The rear hatch opened up and the team was given the green light. They exited two-by-two and began their sweep and search of the roof. Kennedy snapped his helmet together and lowered the NV monocle and hopped out last. Once they were clear he motioned to the pilots who raised the door and began to climb then disappear over the horizon.
It appeared the area had been secure by a previous team which made their job that much easier. One everything seemed in place, Owen lifted the monocle and reported to the Captain.
"Captain Xavier, team two is moving out, support element is setting up shop. We're ready for your orders, sir."
He hated having to address his colleague as sir. They hit it off well in the beginning but conflicting ideology had made them grow resentful towards one another. The Baron would wait for the captain to issue his orders and begin movement.
