1978: Before the Beginning
Raccoon City had its first citywide infection, though it was only recorded in highly classified files only seen in the entire Raccoon City history. The Tira virus was released either by accident or by intention. Though nowhere near as bad as the infestation that would happen twenty years later, it was a wake-up call to what could happen if a virus would get out of hand. The incident would only last a few days after Umbrella was able to take care of the situation. Over the years, the event would be largely forgotten by the public until a fateful day in September 1998.

After days of fighting to eliminate the threat, Umbrella concludes that theres nothing to be done, and sets up the things a large scale test to see exactly how strong the virus is, its limits when put up against trained soldiers. When it became known that people were starting to escape the city, it was quickly firebombed, without any real information leaking out to the press. If you survived the Raccoon City Incident, then you were hunted by Umbrella. From then on, the distribution of BOWs and the like popped up on the black market, and became the leading currency for terrorists and scientific warfare enthusiasts. Up until Umbrellas Downfall, which didnt even seem to make an impact, as the entire thing was just picked up so somebody else where things left off.
2006: Control
The Kennedy Project from RE4 happened, and it was covered up as "a cult following incident" to the public. Viral outbreak of both T, G, and BOWs began to break out around the would in secluded locations. Some were linked to terrorism, others were just tests gone wrong. These were dealt with like Raccoon City, only without the need of fire bombing. The BSAA was created to counter these threats, and make sure they didnt spread. The public was still in the dark about it all, as the UN expands the BSAA to a global level, to ensure that everything remains under the cover and control.
2012: Outbreak
The President finally decided that he was going to make a global announcement about the BOW threat, being as the BSAA was fighting a losing war, and the people needed to know and prepare. Leon was there as a bodyguard, but obviously the C virus was released on the town, and it enevitabely leaked out. Soon after, BOW and the infection went onto a global scale, and thats where the BSAA has its downfall. Tricell couldnt even contain things either, and both corporations just fell victim to the BOW. So now with virus' spreading across the globe, and without any real protection from the BSAA, people were forced to fend for themselves as the C virus took over large chunks of the population in a matter of months.
2020: Restart
For years, the world was a victim. Technology has been severely limited, and most places around the world now thrived on farmland and home brewed medicines for survival. The wild animals we once knew are now extinct, and BOW replaced them. They began breeding, forming living conditions in caves and even abandoned cities. The remaining worlds population remains unknown, as communication has been cut unless you traviled there yourself. A new world order is in place, and local militias who own the most guns control the most public areas. A Humanity lost the war against the undead and the BOW, but they wont be a slave to it.
