The Legion had been waging total war against anyone who stood in their way of conquering the east and adding numbers to their slave army. Luckily for Vault 122, there was a strong enough river to slow down the Legion. As well as plenty of mines and booby traps. Byron had helped set up choke points to stop the Legion as well as leading ambushes. It wasn't hard since the Legion preferred low tech gear that it was a surprise to him that they made it as far as a second battle against the NCR.
Byron had been recently trying to find a way to stop them completely. It wasn't cutting the heads from the snake but destroying it's body. The only way to do that was to wage the war that they wanted rather than small ambushes to strike fear in anyone who came through the area. He had heard of a bomb in the middle of a city and if they could get it into Caesar's head base, they could strike a blow to finish it once and for all. Another option was allying with the super human mutants and taking control of the rumored robot army. Byron thought he might as well bring it up to the Elders of the community to see if they would approve an expedition to find either options.

[Might take me a bit to get adjusted to roleplaying something like this. So if anything in my post doesnt fit, lemme know and just work around it in your own.]
Everybody thought "That girls craftier then a nightkin, you never see her coming.", and another one she heard was "Where the hell is she carrying all of these damn stealth boys?". The conversations she overheard, but never took part in herself, made Penny fairly content with how she got in and out of the vault. In the maintainence tunnels, there had been installed before the bombs fell. It used to be blocked off, but since she found it, Penny had been using it ever since she became friendly with the other community members here in Vault 122. It was evident that nobody else knew about it, or cared to check on it, because she had been using it for the better part of a year or two now. Sure, maybe it put the place at risk if somebody came across it above on the surface, but if anybody was going to find it, they would have already. Besides if the people ever needed an escape route, it would save their lives. That what comforts her in using it with secrecy.
"Aaron didnt make it, but I managed to fry they rest of them. Sorry I was gone so long, hows the legion problem coming?" Penny spoke in a non-shelont tone of voice. She had no personal vendetta against the legion, and didnt want to take sides. She only really care about staying alive, and if helping the vault out with this problem gave her a place to hoard all of her technology from the Brotherhood of Steel, then she would do whatever she could. By now, Penny had an abundance of alien technology stored up, sharing it with the other vault members who had the same scientific brainpower as her. They harnassed the power, mostly turning it into weapons, or at least modifying the plasma and laser technology they had already. But if any of this got out above ground, it would cause an uproar.
!!~!!
Let me explain. About a week ago, there had been an unidentified aircraft crashed north of Vegas. Nobody seen when it crashed, or even investigated it, at least none that stayed alive to tell the story. Penny, however, had been much smarter and more perceptive then anybody else in North Vegas Square, and taken the entire wreck for herself and the other members in the vault to use. Alien tech, thats all she could call it. Eighty two questionable power cells, two types of ranged weapons, a single close ranged weapon, and enough auto-doc technology to run their own sub-dermal implants if they had the resources to fix them up. The find really put Vault 122 in a good place. Though it wasnt an whole lot of scavenge, it was enough give them a step ahead
So that brings us to the now. Legion on our front door, looking to take over the Vault for use as one of their strategic military camps, or whatever it is they do. Step one on the list is really just repelling them enough to make them stay away, which were already doing very well. So the next step was to actually take some action. I like action, especially if it involves me turning something into green goo. Byron was already onto a few things, and I like to stick with him. We dont always like eachother, but we have cooperation, and know our way around a Casadors nest. He was going fill the higher ups in on our little gameplan, and hopefully by tomorrow, we can start to kick things into gear. Or just kick them in general. With a plasma pistol. Which doesnt even make sense but I need to sound unintelligent sometimes so everybody doesnt get jealous.

Byron was resourceful. The .45 ammo that he picked up from the Legionnaires kept him killing. As he slammed a fresh magazine into his gun he look over his shoulder to Penny. "Know what I like about my pistol? Common ammunition. Sure your advanced stuff is cool, but what happens when you run out?" He said to her, his voice distorted as usual from his breathing mask that some swore he never took off. They were headed back from a scheduled ambush against the Legion and had been planning while waiting for the dumb Legionnaires. Now they were going to back to share their plans.
The hike back was quick for these two because they knew their way back. They were greeted back warmly and informed the townspeople of their latest success. It wasn't too hard to ambush a group of thugs who mostly used machetes and simple guns when your partner was packing an alien gun. Goo and ash was all that remained of some of the Legionnaires. They set up a quick meeting with the Elders and waited for them to gather. As soon as they were all present.
"So Elders, Penny and I have done some planning and looked into a few rumors that may be able to help destroy the Legion before it becomes too much for us to handle. There are rumors of a Vault like ours but instead of people living there, there is a dormant army of robots. There is also a community of super human mutants who are fighting just as hard as us and if we can get both on our side we can destroy the Legion once and for all. Or we can travel to Megaton in the east and get the bomb from the center of their town. Then we bring it to Caesar's camp and detonate it to utterly destroy most of the Legion in one blast." He explained to the leaders of their town.

Traveling all the way to Megaton seemed almost out of the question. Penny hasnt ever been there, but from what shes heard, it was worshiped by a group of religious fanatics, which shed rather not waste just to get their hands on a nuclear warhead. Getting there would take time, and thats not knowing exactly what occupies the territory they needed to cross. The way back? How they would even carry a weapon of that size back through the mojave, little lone across the United States, seemed a lot more trouble then what they needed. So, Penny spoke up, before the elders made any sort of decision.
"From a technological standpoint, I think taking control of that robotic army sounds like a good first course of action. The super-mutants solution sounds just as promising, too. Theyre angry, like, all the time, so using that to our advantage would be a great idea. We can work on getting that bomb from Megaton, but I think we could scavenge up and make our own here in the Mojave, actually." The plan seemed simple enough, but what they didnt know was how much more complicated it was. You dont just walk into an abandoned vault and reprogram an army of robots, thats going to take a lot of preparation. As for the super-mutants, maybe they should start with them first.
"All three of those plans would suffice.", Keely responded. "But time is our biggest factor. Choosing one would be more logical, correct? Lets start with the Super Mutants. Convincing them to join us is going to be a challenge, but I know where you can start. Jacobstown, located at the top of the mountains north west of New Vegas, has a thriving community of peaceful supermutants that might be open to the idea of helping us fight the legion. But its not going to be that easy, their will be a catch. Only way to find out what that is would be to talk with them." What the elder said was true, the were peaceful, but it was just that. They wont be open to the idea of fighting the legion if they dont have to, or have any reason to. "Thats where we come in, right? Yeah, well figure it out, Keely."

Byron rubbed the back of his helmet as he thought through his plan and what they thought were Caesar's plans. They were just the first stop before enslaving every village, city, and tribe from the Colorado River to the east coast. Mutants of all kinds were hated by them and anyone who wouldn't side with him was a threat and needed to be killed. Then as he touched his helmet an idea formed in his head. "The Brotherhood!" he blurted out. He knew they were located all through the wastelands and had gear better than even their alien tech. "They'll be wiped out by the Legion. They wouldn't ever join with Caesar and would eventually fall because of that fact. I heard a story that the Capital Wasteland's Brotherhood of Steel actually has a functioning giant robot that crushed the Enclave during a battle over there. Maybe if we get into contact with any part word will reach them. If not, we'll have the local Brotherhood on our side." He explained as he thought up the plan on the spot.
They'd also have to get as many others willing to fight with them when they attacked. They had already agreed to contacting the Super Mutants so with his last words, him and Penny left for Jacobstown. The hike was right through Legion territory. They were sure to get into a scrap or two. Despite the Legions' numbers, they had never overpowered Byron and Penny. For such a big guy, it was surprising that he could sneak around so well. When sneaking didn't work, he was just as skilled at combat. With Penny as his super-brain he didn't have to worry. She could think of anything on the spot and usually got them out of a tight spot if fighting wasn't going to work.
Sure enough, within the first few hours of walking, a Legion ambush came. It seemed to be attacking everyone on the stretch of road and dragged them back to their camp for holding. Byron guessed that from there they went to the main base of the Legion. When they asked nicely with blades drawn, Byron had his knife ready to do some killing. The Legion thinks themselves terrifying but if you were to cross Byron alone, few people in the wastelands would act bravely. Byron was quick with his attacks as they advanced on the two. He knew Penny would handle herself, either turning her attackers into goo or ash and doing it with finesse. Three approached him and three went toward Penny.
They moved around to form a triangle around Byron. He waited until the first one lunged. As the man's arm camed down, Byron dodged, grabbed him by the wrist and sliced with his knife in a smooth motion. The hand came off in Byron's hand and the next man came in for an attack. Byron only had seconds to react as the third was coming in as well. Byron too the hand and hit one of the two with it as he stuck to knife out as neck level. The man ran into the knife, stabbing himself in the throat as the other fell to the ground from the hit. Byron came down on him stabbing him int the back of the neck to kill him. He left the other man missing a hand on the ground screaming in terror and pain. He turned to check on Penny who seemed to be patiently waiting near three piles of goo.

The Brotherhood, now that was a very interesting plan. Penny didnt quite care for them, to be honest. Since her friendship with Veronica ended the way it did, she just never seen the point in dealing with them. The Brotherhood in the Mojave Wasteland were all hiding in bunkers, away from the world and the problems like war. The truth was, if they got attacked by Legion, it would be on their own turn, and the legion would need to through the bunkers. Or at most, starve them out, come to think about it. But they would no doubt fight back, and when the time came, it would be nice to have them on the vaults side for when they did cross that bridge. However, right now, Penny wanted to focus on getting to Jacobstown, and setting up a plan with the locals up the mountain.
It didnt take long for them to come across the ambush by a small Legion raiding party, but they were too unequiped for heavy combat. It was sad, really, going up against a handful of them. Byron used a knife, which was always a very strange thing to see considering all of the technology available for use, but whatever got the job done. But Penny? She used her Plasma Defender modified with the alien technology, which made short work of the legionaries that crossed her. Seeing Byron still fighting, she thought that maybe it would be good to help, but he was taking care of business his own way, and she would never jump in unless she felt the need to. "I... Almost feel bad for them. Tee hee." By the end, the bodies, and piles of glowing gunk, were all that was left of the raiding party. Bad part about using this sort of technology is it almost always destroyed the bodies, and everything on them, unless you got lucky. Scavenging wasnt ever big on her agenda though, because most, if not all of the things she needed, she already had on her.
"There it is, up there." Penny looked down the abandoned highway, and could see where it cut off into a more caved in path, which no doubt lead up the mountain. Light trails of smoke came from the very top, signifying that life had been waiting for them at the top, the super-mutants. They didnt need to climb, it would be all on a reletively simple road, but it would take them at least another hour to reach the top. "Ive never been up this far before, but from what ive heard, Jacobstown used to be a resort of some kind."

They started their ascent to Jacobstown. The Super Mutants on guard watched the two humans making the climb. The fact that the humans didn't come in guns blazing kept the Super Mutants from attacking. It seemed like a quick hour and soon enough they were at the front door of the resort. The two standing in their way waited until they spoke.
"We are here to speak to your leader. We need to discuss an allegiance with Jacobstown." Byron spoke. After being eyed up by the two, they let Byron and Penny inside. They walked on either side of the two humans and let them into the office where their leader was. Byron was caught off guard by a Super Mutant who was dressed like a little old lady. Then the leader greeted the two. Being warmly greeted by Super Mutants was odd to him but he wasn't going to be rude.
"Welcome to Jacobstown, humans. My name is Marcus." The Super Mutant said to the two. "Now how can we help you two?"

The lack of protection on the outside of the building was a little shocking. They had an entire fence, and a nice gate set up and everything, but no other supermutant guards standing at it to greet them. The only two had been at the main doors, and they did seem to eye the pair. But then again, they were humans, it was just how things were. Inside looked like a very well maintained safe haven-turned building, and it easily held all of the supermutants here from the numbers shes calculated. Among the population had been a large amount of nightkin, the blue tinge and more exotic look gave them away all too well. Something that did make Penny very uncomfortable, and it was something that Byron failed to notice for lack of her even having one, was the Nightkin had been eyeing her stealthboy. It was a new model that she would assume nobody had seen before, but she couldnt tell if the nightkin knew exactly what it was, or just plain wanted it for themselves.
As they got into the main office, Marcus spoke out, a thick burly voice, but friendly. Turning to see it was a large supermutant, who hadnt been layerd in broken street lamps and tires, Penny responded to his question with a very kind tone of voice. "We come all the way from the east of the Mojave, seeking friends. Im sure your well aware that the Legion is at our doorstep, and-" But Penny had been cut off. "Not interested. We arent going to war. Dont take it personally, you seem like you two know what your doing, but our people dont know war." Penny understood, but she quickly retorted. "This isnt about war, please just listen." Marcus nodded, respecting that they wouldnt have come all this way to be turned down without a fair argument.
"Our scouts found some intel about the legions attack plans. Theyre starting with the north, which meant out vault was in the way of their attack. From what weve gathered, that also means Jacobstown is on that list. With the NCR outpost just a quarter mile down the mountain, I wouldnt be surprised if they try to take that over in the next few days. Your going to have to fight, whether you like to or not. We came here to make sure that your going to be ready." Sure, maybe that wasnt their true intentions, but when it came down to it, saving them from a legion attack also meant getting them on their side, so it would work out in the end. Penny looked at Byron before Marcus replied.

Byron decided to explain everything. "The Legion hates your kind and Ghouls. Your home here, it's perfect ground for an attack on the NCR. If we push them back from this point the Legion will be forced back. If you join us we can finish them for good. You guys are fearsome fighters and we respect that which is why we came to you all for help." Byron said, laying it all out onto the table.
"Well, I respect your honesty but I will have to ask the rest of Jacobstown. Please allow me to ask." Marcus said as he motioned for the door. Byron lead Penny out as he came to a seat and sat. He just knew that he had to wait as all of the Super Mutants went into the room to discuss it. They could hear the loud voices from the closed doors. They couldn't make heads or tails on where the discussion was headed because all of the voices sounded the same.
When the door opened, the Super Mutants walked out and let Byron and Penny back in. By the look on Marcus's face, the news wasn't going to be good. "I am sorry, humans, but we're going to risk it on our own. We don't wish to go to war." Marcus said to the two. Byron left without saying anything. They still had the vault filled with robots to search for.

"I hope they know what theyre doing. It wasnt like we were only using them to our advantage, we could help them. I dont think they can make it on their own, otherwise they would have been all the way up here, hiding from the rest of the world. Doesnt matter, they dont want us, thats fine. We have other options. Lets just get out of here and down the mountain. I wanna be inside before night time, cazadors come out at night..." Pennys fear of the large insects were the only thing keeping her from moving around the Mojave at night. Even though she had enough plasma to take care of fifty of them, they just scared her, and he ended up missing. They wouldnt have to deal with them so long as they kept to the plan, and sought shelter behind the walls of North Vegas, just until morning.
When the pair finally went through the gates, Penny looked back. The place really did look like a perfect vantage point. A nice choke. Maybe they really could hold off on their own. But something else caught her attention up ahead on the road, and noticing Byron caught the same thing, she stated the obvious. "NCR Rangers? Why are they doing all the way up here?" Then it became pretty clear that more than likely came to negotiate, just as Penny and Byron did. There was eight of them, it just made sense.
Penny and Byron seen the NCR as they seem them both, and within a few more seconds, they met on the road. "NCR Ranger business, please move along, you two. Unless your looking for trouble." They could leave now, and let the super-mutants handle things on their own, or they could try to reason with them. The latter might end up getting a little messy, though.

Byron was a bit p*ssed off by the Super Human's decision and the NCR stepped up to be punching bags, but Byron knew that if he picked a fight with the NCR then they'd have two superpowers to contend with. That was until someone stepped up over a hill and into sight. "Move along boys. They didn't do nothing to you." spoke the new comer. He had the butt of his railway rifle resting on his hip while he held the handle. He seemed like one of the good guys in the world but also had a look like any other wastelander: willing to do what was needed.
The NCR soldiers kept moving at the sight of the new guy. They must have known him or his reputation and decided on the better option. Byron approached the new guy and talked to him. "So who're you and why'd you help us?" Byron was sure he looked like a tribal but he didn't care what he looked like.
"Well the NCR likes to pick on anyone who didn't sign up to fight with them. I decided to not let them push you around. My name is John, and I'm from Vault 3." He said to the two as he holstered his rifle. He was ready in case they were attacked by anything. He was one of the wasteland's successes. He knew that you were hardly ever safe in the wastes.

When the stranger showed up, glorified in wasteland attire and a expertly crafted weapon in hand, Penny seen this as an opportunity to enlist in more help from people who actually had a good side here in the wasteland. The guy acted like a saint, bringing justice, and quickly as the showed up, the NCR backed off and retreated back to their camp. The timing couldnt have been any better, but she wasnt going to think any harder about it, because it meant they didnt need to deal with the situation that was forced onto them.
After hearing John had been from Vault 3, however, Pennys thought process began to excel. Vault 3 had been one of the only Vaults in the Mojave that were housed by humans and not robots, or plant life. Not only that, but they hadnt been experimented on by an overseer. Arguably, however, the experiment was to see if the post-apocalyptic defense would function properly, which it did aside from the vault being completely overrun by The Fiends at this point.
It wasnt as if it mattered, John more than likely had other plans being all the way up here. If either of them were going to bring up their mission, it would be Byron and not Penny, who kept to herself since the burly man showed up. But the she noticed the weapon at his side, to which he spoke up. "Hey, that Mk.4 G76 Class B your carrying. I had one like it myself, but it overheated due to the inconsistent power ratios in the cells when I converted them over from V3.7 model APCs to V4.1 model APCs. Would you mind ejecting a few of those in the gun and letting me run some Hy3-88r diagnostics on them? Pretty please?"

She was close, finally, after months of wandering the post apocalyptic wastelands of what was once America, she was finally close to New Vegas. It seemed like a life time ago that Katerina had started her journey from the Capitol wastelands, with numerous events and memories to keep her up at night. But now, her journey was in the final stretch.
which just went to show how life was such a b*tch.
she was walking near the entrance of the path leading toward what her pipboy said was jacobstown when she was rushed by a bunch of raiders dressed up like Roman soldiers. "The Hell!?" some of them opened up with coybow repeaters and 10mm submachine guns, however their aim terrible enough that none of their bullets hit. diving behind a rock also helped. quickly grabbing her assault carbine she had just enough time to cock it before one of the raiders leapt over the rock, swinging a super sledge. rolling backwards she put her foot into his sternum and swinging him head first into the ground, audibly cracking his neck. just as she completed her back-roll another raider with a super sledge jumped over the now bullet riddled rock, and got his head blown off by a quick burst from her assault carbine. quickly getting back into cover she equiped one of her self-made tin can grenades, "Hey Morons, Catch!!" and threw it amongst the raiders, taking out several with its concussive wave and flying shrapnel. seeing her exhillerated grin, the last 2 broke and ran, up the path towards Jacobstown. equiping her 10mm pistol she gave chase, quickly putting a round through the knee of the one lagging behind the one in front, blowing his head off when she passed him. She chased him for a while until she got bored, and shot him in the knee. He went down hard, screaming like a pig. as she closed in he pulled a 9mm pistol from his leg, she shot his hand before he could even point it at her, and stomped on it, grinding it into the ground. "Tell me what group you are from or ill shoot off your balls." she said to him over his screams. "Legion!! Ceasers Legion! we were one of the raiding parties sent across the river!" She smiled, "Thanks for the info." He scowled at her, "you have made an enemy of the Legion, you will be Hunted down like the Dog you are!" She grinned, "Bring them on." 2 shots from her pistol obliterated his head. as she stood up she noticed a group of 3 other people standing about 50 meters up the path, staring at her.

John raised an eyebrow at the girl who seemed to speak gibberish. He wasn't sure what to say or do so he waited for her to explain herself. Though before she was given the chance a fight broke out down the hill. Caesar's Legion were picking a fight with a single girl who was more than a match for them. When she double tapped the last one she noticed the group watching her.
"Well seems like you can take care of yourself." Byron said to her since he didn't even get the chance to jump into the fight. John was surveying the area in case more were coming but it seemed clear.
"So what were you asking me to do girl?" John asked still unsure of her request. He didn't know what she wanted and if he wanted to know but he thought he'd ask anyway.

At this point, it was pretty obvious. NCR just so happened to come up all this way from their camp to check out the old mountain resort, see how the super mutant situation was, and they were followed by the Legion. It was a popular choice of legionaries to stalk, but when this new stranger got onto them first, things were hairy. To avoid any conflict herself, Penny wanted to stay clear of either side of the trail, and stick to the side with John. Byron had went to investigate the scene, he could handle things, find out what the girl wanted, handle her if needed be.
By this time, John asked what she was talking about. Maybe all these smarts helped her get through to a lot of people, but other it just went over their head. She wasnt thinking he was stupid, but to the common mind, it would be too much to process, unless you spent years practicing. So she decided to keep it simple, but respectful. "Your Blaster, I had one myself. The ammo I made melted it into a pile of crap. If I can look at the kind of ammo your using with it, I could figure out an alternative. Cause, you know, you cant just buy those from a Caravan, not even down New Caanan way."
