"you know, I do believe Katya would be rather annoyed at you for allowing me to see you naked young lady."
polly shrieked in surprise when aleksander spoke right behind her, quickly muffled when he tossed his jacket over her.
"you should be more mindful of your surroundings. your not in your own home at the moment."

Polly waited a few moments to respond, her heart feeling like it was going to beat out of her chest. Once she was able to get her breathing back to normal, she shook her head and covered herself with the jacket, the large coat covering her almost down to her knees. She tugged it tightly around herself, the smell of smoke and sweat strong on it.
"I'm sorry. I didn't think anyone else would be awake. I promise I'll remember to put clothes on while we are here. I sort of...got used to not having to anymore. Katya doesn't like it when she comes home and I'm still dressed."
She felt a blush come to her face as she stopped talking, realizing she was giving more information than she should have to the man. Perhaps Katya's frankness was starting to wear off on her. She wasn't sure that was a good thing. The woman could and often did talk about anything she wished, and there were times she would have preferred the woman kept some things private.
"Um, which room is your bathroom? I wasn't sure if you have indoor plumbing still. or if you were using an outhouse."

"its the door at the far end of the corridor."

"Thank you."
Polly quickly scampered down the hallway to the door the man had pointed out and opened it slowly, not wanting to barge in on anyone that may have been inside. Thankfully the room was empty, and she locked the door behind her as she took care of her business.
"He keeps guns in every room it seems. Never hurts to be prepared I suppose."
She saw a large shotgun sitting over the door frame, wondering how often people must have attacked them for him to feel the need to en so protected. She figured Katya got in enough trouble to warrant the need for so many weapons in the house.

"think she noticed?" Aleksander grinned, turning around to an equally grinning katya. "no, she didn't notice." "we are such horrible people." they both cackled like crazy.

Polly came back out and saw the two of them grinning at her. It made her feel suddenly very uncomfortable, and she fidgeted in front of them as they seemed to be either laughing at her, or at something she had done. She gave them a puzzled look, and tried to figure out what was so amusing, other than her lack of clothes.
"What? What did I do?"

"nothing pet, we're just laughing at how bad we are." they continued to laugh as they went downstairs.

"You're both terrible."
Polly waited until the two were completely downstairs and then made her way back to Katya's room. She quickly dressed, folding the man's worn jacket over her arm as she made her way back downstairs, determined not blush. She knew they were going to say something to embarrass her, if the old man was anything like Katya.
"Well, go ahead. I'm sure you have SOMETHING to say."

Aleksander turned to Katya, "how do you not keep her chained up in the dungeon?"
"her parents would start to miss her. plus I'm sure polly would probably literally die of embarrassment to have her parents see her chained naked to the saint Andrew's cross. they are as bad as we are."

Polly lost the fight to keep from blushing, and just hurried back down the stairs as she tried to keep from catching on fire from the mental images she was trying to keep from coming to mind.
"I think you would get bored with just having me chained in the basement. And besides, I think my mother would rescue me. Or at least bring me dinner if nothing else."

"I would say yes on the dinner part, but she would insist on playing "here comes the airplane"."

"Remind me never to ask her to feed me when you have me bound. That would be a bit more than I could handle."
Polly was glad to be dressed again, and looked through their options for breakfast as Katya and her uncle caught up. She was trying not to pay attention their conversation for several reasons. The most obvious one was that it was rude, and also it was more than likely about her, and she didn't want her cheeks and ears burning anymore than they already were.
"Have Jake and Cassandra woken up yet?"

"Coffee? You mean...real coffee? I've never had it. All we have is chicaree back at home."
Polly suddenly perked up, wondering if the settlement was actually able to grow their own coffee beans. She had to know how they did it. It was something that was still elusive to her community, and she knew of people that would trade many things to have some again. She would have to establish some kind of trade agreement while she was here. It would allow her to bring something back to the community after their long trip.

"the farming settlement grows most of our food, including the coffee beans, they have a large greenhouse just for that."
