"Hi Ho silver, away!" She chuckled, and picked up speed.
A lot of speed.

"Haha! Oh you are just crazy! Onward my love!"
Polly cackled and hung on as Katya nearly galloped her to the coffee growers. She hadn't done this since she was a child, and the fact that it was her warrior woman running her around like a child made it all the more better in her mind.

Katya was grinning the entire trip, and slide to a halt in front of the greenhouse.
"Here's our stop love. time to dismount."

"Sigh, if I have to."
Polly got down, unhooking her legs from the woman's waist as she found herself on solid ground again. While fun, she was glad to be on solid ground. Having no ck trol over where she was going was disconcerting, even if she did enjoy her mode of transportation.
"Hello? Anyone home?"

"come on pet, they won't here us from out here."
leading Polly, Katya walked through the doors into the muggy heat of the greenhouses. around the back, through rows on rows of fruit, vegetables, and various herbs and plants, was a small room. going in, Katya smiled. "Granny, I'm back!"
a grey haired old lady looked up and smiled. "Katya, how nice to see you again."

"So, this is the green-thumb that has been making the great coffee."
Polly hung behind Katya enough to make sure the woman saw someone she recognized first before she made her appearance. It was best to make sure that no one got hurt because of an ill-timed surprise.
"I'm Polly. Katya's...uh, well...girlfriend really. Lover, works too?"

the woman turned to smile at Polly. "Dear I have already heard about you from Aleksander. I hear your quite the cook, not to mention a screamer." she chuckled.

Polly sputtered, and blushed nearly cherry red as she hid behind Katya again. Well, this was something she was probably going to have to get used to during her stay in the settlement. More than likely everyone would know about that soon. She hoped she would be ore famous for her cooking skills than for her vocals.
"I think I'll let you take the conversation from here my love."

katya grinned, this was fun. "no pet, your idea, your conversation and bartering."
the old woman looked at polly and lifted an eyebrow in query. "well?"

"I hate you, you know that right?"
Polly stepped out from behind Katya, and cleared her throat in preparation for more verbal abuse from the pair.
"I...well, Katya too I guess, we come from a settlement far North. I was hoping we could discuss how you can grow your coffee. We've been trying off and on for a few years now and the crops repeatedly fail."

"well, coffee is quite the commodity nowadays for one very simple reason. growing it successfully is tricky, not to mention it takes, with great care, 2 to 3 years until the plant starts to flower and produce the cherries."
she led them to another, larger greenhouse. inside there were about 10 coffee plants. "there are varying factors to take into consideration. such as altitude, constant temperature ranges, irrigation, and more." she pointed to the plants, "I grow robusta coffee beans because they are, as the name announces, more robust than Arabica beans, at the exchange of having an inferior taste, and more caffeine."

"I would love to be able to trade for some of the beans. Stupid me didn't bring anything to barter, but on my next trip here I would love to see if we can work out an arrangement."
Polly gently ran her hands along the coffee plants leaves, the soft organic feel sending a shiver up her spine. She loved things that grew from the ground. Her family was good at growing food, some cotton, but mostly things people could eat. If they could finally grow coffee as well, it would make a lot of people in their settlement very happy.

"perhaps we can work something out. but for now, would you like some tea?"

"I would love some. I'm sure Katya would too. Anything I don't have to grow myself she'll like. She hates our current options."
Polly get better now that the initial embarrassment had passed. She would have to get used to it. By now all of the settlement probably knew about her. This was something she would have to get used to for their stay.

as the old woman got the tea ready, Katya pulled Polly onto her lap as she sat down. "so, 2 to 3 years before you can even try the rest of the process, not to mention the engineering and materials needed. think people back home will want work that long for coffee?"
