"Oh don't worry. its got a loud speaker so they will be able to hear us. but maybe we should tell them that we are coming back and to tell the council that our response to their decision will ... not be to their satisfaction." Katya said. Jake and Aleksander literally shivered at her grin. It was not a nice one.

"Good. About time someone put the fear in them. I don't think the gate guards will even think to side with them. Tank or no tank."
Polly cuddled into Katya's arms, the idea of going home both scary and exciting. Things would definitely be interesting on the trip back, and if they got there and found teh gates closed, there wouldn't be any gate by the time they were done.
"So, are you going to show me how it works? I want to help, just in case something happens. I hope nothing does, but just in case."

"Of Course! come on, lets show you how to drive Bessie."
what followed was a rather enjoyable evening, though admittedly Aleksander was a little put off by the fact that Polly ran over a compost bin that he had only just finished building. The fact that Aleksander chased her around the yard for a few minutes while Jake put on the benny hill theme song, just added to the hilarity of it in Katya's opinion.

Polly finally felt too winded to keep running and fell over, her hands raised in mock surrender as she giggled and caught her breath. She couldn't believe she had been able to drive a tank! An actual working tank! She had heard some of the soldiers back at the settlement talk about them, how they were the masters of any battlefield. But that was all before the dead rose and destroyed their world. Now they were so rare she hadn't even seen one until today. And to think she got to drive it, and would learn how to use the weapons on it! They would be riding back in style.

upon reaching her, Aleksander put Polly into a headlock and started rubbing her head with his knuckles, laughing at her protests before he got pushed off her by katya. "She Belongs To ME. Only I'm allowed to torture her." she said playfully as she held polly against her.

Polly rubbed her head and gave the older man a stern glare before she broke into a smile. She knew he wasn't really mad, although she would have to help put it back together before they left. It was the least she could do.
"Exactly. But we will have to put it back together before we go. Been a while since I've made a compost bin, but I can do it."

they all looked at the ruins of the compost bin. it was a splintered wreck. "Don't think you'll be able to repair it. you'll have to make a whole new one." luckily, Aleksander had more planks, screws and hinges, so for the rest of the day they worked together on a new one while jake and Cassandra made them dinner, which wasn't bad.

After a long days work, Polly was glad to be sitting at a dinner table around people she cared about. It reminded her of growing up, the long days in the field ending in a peaceful meal together. Only nownit was filled with driving tanks, and dog collars. She supposed it wasn't a bad way to live. Just...different.
"Let me guess, Cassandra did all the cooking and you stood here and watched?"

"nope. i helped cut things up."
"Pretty much all you were good for though right." Katya said grinning, causing him to blush. "barely." he muttered, giving cassandra the stink eye. "kinda hard to be actually useful when someone's constantly hitting you over the head with a wooden spoon."

"At least nothing is on fire. And she didn't try and kill you with a wrench. So...things are looking up for you."
Polly shooed Jake out of the kitchen, knowing he would only get in the way. She often did the same to Katya, knowing the woman would be more comfortable out of the kitchen than in it. She didn't mind though, it was her domestic nature. The woman protected her, and she made sure she ate well, had a clean home to come back to, and a warm bed at night.
"Alright, where are we in cooking? I'll pick up the slack."

"Just about done actually. If there is one thing that our partners are actually good at, its barbeque. He did the steaks just jight. all we have to do is the salad."

"Well, good to know he's useful for something."
Polly gave a disarming smile to Jake, and helped make the salad. She felt more comfortable in a domestic role, being in the kitchen and preparing meals. This was her normal role when she and Katya were home. If she wanted an edible meal at the table, she had to be the one to make it. She loved the woman but her cooking was terrible.

"And it's good to know you can at least not hurt yourself in the kitchen, unlike everywhere else." Katya told Polly, grinning.

"Very true. How Jake has survived this long amazes me. But I guess Katya could say the same about me. Did we ever tell you how we met? Or rather, how she met me, and saved my life? Well, and then she threatened to cut me open like a fish..."
As they finished preparing dinner, Polly regaled Cassandra with the tale of how they met and escaped the fortress they found themselves in. How she became the woman's lover, and slave, and how brave the woman was when she was shot, saving her by carrying her all the way back to her settlement.
