"See We're better for each other than you thought."
Polly finally got Katya to let her go, and held her at arms length, looking at her warrior woman. Yes, they had been good for each other. They saved each other, in more ways than one. She couldn't imagine her life without Katya in it, and yes, that included her violent and insane relatives.
"So, what other dangerous toys do you guys have laying around the house?"

"Well...we have a tank."

"A tank? You...of course you have a tank. Why am I even surprised by this?!?"
Polly knew that the family had been prepared for just about anything, so of course they would have something big, tracked and capable of leveling a small town. That would have been helpful to have when they were trekking across the infected areas, but then again it was so big it would have drawn large groups of the dead to wherever they were. That wouldn't have been a welcome gift when they got home.

"Its an old sherman "easy eight" it was kind of both a for fun and restoration project. We gave it better traction, gears, engine and hydraulics. It was even legal to drive on the road." Aleksander, katya and jake smiled at the memories. "Bou were people surprised when we went through the drive throughs."

"Imagine rolling up in that. We'd probably bring a large group of zombies with us though, and there is always a chance we'd hit those mines again. Dunno if it would break the tank though. Something to think about I suppose."

"that depends on whether or not the zombie horde managed to blow up the entire mine field. then again we have Lots of Cannister."

"Fat chance. But I imagine a lot of them went off. Those zombies were nearly shoulder to shoulder out there. Probably didn't miss too many of them."
Polly was glad the zombies were far behind them. She didn't imagine the group they were around would have appreciated hundreds of the dead things coming their direction. Then again they were more than prepared to deal with anything like that. This settlement was far more prepared to fend off an attack than hers had been before Katya came along. She was sure there were more changes that would need to be made, and they would be there to make sure they happened.

"Still, we'd have to be careful. And showing up in a tank? How awesome would that be? Can you imagine the looks on their faces when us - the exiled ones, show up in something like that? I've never even SEEN a tank!"
Polly was definitely being affected by the warrior woman. Her attitudes and mannerisms had changed significantly since Katya had come into her life. She wasn't always sure it was a good thing, but she was glad for it regardless.
"Can we see it?"

Katya grinned, "Sure!" She lead the group over to a barn further away from the house. Opening the doors, she revealed a thing of beautiful brutality. the tank had been modified as previously mentioned, yet even more so.
There was a bull-dozer attachment to the front, armoured extended fuel tanks, track armour, dual .50 Ma-Deuce's, remote claymore mines on the hull facing outwards and what looked like an armoured fuel pod attatched to a flame thrower. in addition, as if an afteerthought, along the tanks barrel was painted "BESSIE" in flowing script.

Polly put her hand out and gently touched the cool metal of the tanks hull, her eyes wide as she looked over the rolling death machine. They could roll through nearly anything with this, undead or otherwise.
"This is...amazing. Could we take this back with us? They'd never stop us from coming home, we could even park it in the front yard."

"With all the fuel we managed to scavenge and kept usable we should be able to roll to the settlement without even needing to stop or refuel. And since the engines fuel efficiency is insane we don't even need to carry extra fuel cans, though we are going to anyway."
She grinned evilly, "Those old fools are going to s*** their pants."

"When we're ready to go, we are going back in style."
Polly put one arm around Katya's waist, and smiled as she thought about traveling safely for a change. Of course, once they got home their lives were going to be very interesting again. Bullying their way back into the settlement was one thing, but what was to stop the council from trying to banish them again? Or maybe hurting her parents? Worry seemed to overtake her facial expressions as she thought about everything they were going to have to take care of when they got back.

"None of that." Katya lifted Polly up and kissed her thoroughly. About 10 seconds later she broke it off. "No worrying allowed." she said grinning.

"Ha! I'll still worry, just a lot less when I'm inside that tank. Not much to worry about then is there"
Polly wondered if warning the settlement would be a good idea. She wasn't aware of them having anything that would be of use against a tank, and she certainly didn't want any of the gate guards hurt because of something the council ordered them to do. They weren't their enemies, the stupid council apparently was.
"I wonder if we got the Colonel on the radio he could make sure we get back in. I don't really want to hurt anyone."
