Katya slowly washed off the remains of dried sweat that telled of the previous night, and pondered.
'How did I sleep that long? its been years since I slept that peacefully. it couldn't be exhaustion or even the great sex.' she grinned, remembering, who knew that the girl would be so responsive to her touch. 'Every night since then has been nightmare after nightmare after nightmare. perhaps...' she stopped grinning, slamming her palm against the wall. no, she couldn't think like that. if she started she would hope that things could be different. And Katya KNEW it couldn't be different. She couldn't let someone that close again, she couldn't handle history repeating itself for a third time. She knew that last night should Not have happened, she Knew it would just make things harder. But like the cursed fool she was, she couldn't stay away. like an insect to a bug zapper.
after that sobering moment, she got out of the shower, quickly drying herself and changing. black paramilitary cargo pants, socks and black combat boots, a grey long-sleeve shirt, a dark purple short sleeve t-shirt, her jacket, half finger gloves, and her shemagh. her gear, weapons and tools went on afterwards, and she picked up her rucksack before heading to the room she had left polly in.
seeing the girl packing, she placed the rucksack down just inside the open doorway, and moved towards her. seeing her, the girl stood up, facing her, like she was expecting katya to say something. Katya just closed the distance, and wrapped her arms around the girl waist, holding her gently. "I wish..." she began softly, before shoving that thought down. she let polly go and stepped back. "Ill be waiting for you by the desk." she said distantly, trying to erase her emotions. "come by when your ready." turning, she went and picked up her rucksack, and with a single last glance at polly, she went back through the door, and closed it.

Polly looked after the woman, confusion written on her face. Something had changed, the woman had treated Polly almost like a stranger, someone to keep at arm's length. Had something happened? She supposed now wouldn't be the time. When they get back to her group, maybe they could talk about it then. She finished gathering her items, then made her way out the door to meet the woman at the front. Soon they could be back on their way, and then they would be that much closer to home.
"I'm all set. Are we going further into the city, or are we going to try and go back out into the woods?"

"Whatever's the quickest route back to your compound. we should move quickly and quietly so only engage targets if necessary. we don't want any complications."
Katya could sense to other woman's confusion from before, hopefully the girl would just forget about her when she left her at her home. she hoped she could forget her, but she had a feeling that might be a problem.
she got out her map and layed it on the table, opening it fully. "where abouts is your home?"

Polly looked over the map, eyeing the map and trying to see where they were, and how far out of the city her farm was. It had been so long since she had seen a map that it took her a few moments to get oriented. She stabbed a finger at a portion of the road map several grids away, her eyes going wide as she looked over the distance.
"My word, how long was I out? It's..It's miles! I've never been this far from home before!"
Looking at where they were in reference to where she was from it would take days, possibly a week or longer to get home. She didn't know how long she had been unconscious or how they managed to travel so far when she was abducted, but there was a large expanse of wooded area and a dangerous patch of land between two cities they would have to cross before she could make her way safely home.

Katya sighed. she had hoped that Polly's home was close, maybe within a day or 2s walk. this was going to keep her in temptations way for a maximum of 10 to 12 days. what made it worse was that the silly emotional part of her was happy about being longer in the girls presence.
"well we might as well start," she said, marking their location and destination on the map before folding and pocketing it. "we're not getting any closer just standing here."
before they left katya pocketed the key to the bondage room. she knew it was silly but her emotional side at least wanted a momento, a reminder of last night. after closing up the brothel they went over the wall and started on their journey.

Polly watched the darkened streets as they made their way over the wall and back into the open. She didn't like being out, knowing that the undead were the true masters of the city now. They needed to get out of the empty and ruined buildings and back into the woods, somewhere they could hide and evade anything trying to find them. She let Katya take the lead, the borrowed pistol in her good hand as she kept an eye out for anything that was an immediate danger.
"I don't like this. I really, really don't like this."
She tried to keep her voice low, but everything sounded like she was screaming and stomping her feet. The silence made everything eerie, and even the slightest noise made her jump. She supposed she looked silly next to someone like Katya who must have gone through the city dozens of times. She tried to toughen up, if nothing more than to make less noise and have less of a chance of knocking something over and making a load of noise to attract the undead with.

Katya subtly watched polly walk with her. the girl was obviously frightened and spooked by the quiet, empty city streets. the undead were the rulers of this city, and they were nowhere to be seen. "stay calm. Its better to stay calm in this situation, and to keep your goal in mind. it helps to stop your mind from wandering."
they continued on for the next several hours. they rested for short periods, about 5 to 10 minutes while they snacked on something and sipped water. If katya was alone she would have been able to get to the girl's home in about 4 to 8 days of forced march, but with polly she had to slow down, take more breaks. she didn't complain though, in a way it was nice to just have company. humans are social creatures, and could easily go insane if they were isolated and only had themselves as company for long periods of time.

"I'll try, I'm sorry it's just so scary here."
Polly was glad to have the rest. Her wrist was feeling better, but she still wished she was home and out of the danger she found herself in. She was glad to have Katya at her side, and leaned her head on her shoulder as they rested. She didn't hear anything, and for the moment she assumed they were safe. She was hoping that soon they would be out of the city, and into the forest.
"There might be a settlement in the area, we could find a place to stay for a night, maybe two. It would be nice to have a roof over our heads."
She heard something shuffling nearby, and clutched onto her pistol, indicating to Katya where she heard the sound. She was certain she heard something coming their way, and it didn't sound alive or friendly.

Katya motioned polly to keep moving. they didn't need to be bogged down in a fight with the rest of the undead population coming for them. they needed to keep moving and evade any large group of infected or any BOW's.
about an hour later they came across a small group of about 7 zombies. Katya paused long enough to pass Polly her Cold steel special forces entrenching tool. "if you can, aim for where the temples should be, the head is weaker there." Katya drew her kukri and, motioning to polly, got stuck in.
as she hacked away she kept an eye on polly, ready to help if needed.

Polly holstered her pistol, using the entrenching tool by swinging it lack a tennis racquet and smashing it into the sides of the undead. These ones had been dead for a while, and were badly decayed, but still a threat to anyone that they could surround and bring down. As she dropped the first one, she heard their terrifying moans which would of course call more of the infected to their location. They needed to dispatch these quickly and move on before anything came to find them.
Katya was faster than she was, more skilled at taking them out before they could grab her or bite her, and by the time she had brought down her second zombie, the other woman had killed the rest. Polly watched as she brought down the last one, and then she smiled at the other woman, adrenaline making her forget about her injured wrist. She took the short time they had before anything else showed up and quickly checked the bodies, not finding anything of use. It was time to get moving again, and once they were out of the city they could find somewhere to rest.

"here's a tip, next time don't use the flat of the blade, use the edge. much more effective." Katya instructed. If she was going to travel with polly for up to a fortnight then she should teach her how to more effectively survive and defend herself.
they travelled a ways before reaching the city's edge, but by then half the night had gone. they continued across the main roads, following the road signs and the map.

"I still can't believe people used to travel on these roads for miles. My father used to tell me that these roads would be so full of people and cars that sometimes it would all have to stop for a while."
Polly stayed away from the long ruined abandoned cars that they passed, remembering that some may still contain their infected passengers, and draggers were known to hide under cars and grab passerbys. Or maybe that was something she was told so she wouldn't do something stupid like try to climb into the cars. Either way, she made sure to stay close to the other woman, and away from the vehicles.
"I wonder what they looked like when they were working. I haven't seen a working car in a long time."

"It depended on the model, but the real joy was driving a car going at high speeds down a road. the roar of the engine, the howling winds, the speed of the car pushing you back into your seat. it was incredible. though I preferred motorcycles, you got the engine roar, the wind whipping against you, and the vibration of the engine was incredible." Katya sighed, "I only got to ride on a motorcycle but damn, I so wanted one. then the damn apocalypse happened."
suddenly, she spied a zombie on the ground, but damn, this one wasn't going anywhere. "Oh goodie, entertainment." the zombie was a wreck, it was missing its arms, lower body and its jaw. spying a golf club in one of the closer cars, she checked under the car first, then the inside before smashing the window and taking it.
"wanna have a go at zombie golf? the rules are simple, you gotta whack the zombies head clean off. you either take turns or just keep doing it until your bored."

Polly looked at the rotting zombie and made a face. She hadn't seen too many of them around the farms, but the ones she had seen were in far better condition than this one. She didn't know what kept it going, but she just wished it would finally fall apart and truly die. She took the golf club from Katya, and aimed for the undead creatures head. Even with no ability to reach her, it was still making some attempt to get to her, to feast on her body.
She swung forward, feeling the smack reverberate up her arm and causing her to yelp when her injured wrist tweaked the wrong way. She dropped the club, and turned around, hissing in pain and holding her injured wrist.
"Oh that really hurt! That was really, really stupid!"

"no kidding." Katya raised an eyebrow at polly's glare, "you knew your wrist was hurt, you knew it would hurt but you did it anyway. now your wrist hurts more and is likely to have to heal for longer. What's more I gave you the option to not play, you didn't have to, shouldn't have, yet you did."
Katya picked up the club, and put one foot on the zombies back, tacking an experimental swing. "this reality we live in isn't kind on those who don't think polly. think before you act, but don't ever think so much that you run out of time. make quick, sound decisions, and you will probably live a longer life."
she swung the club over her head and swung back, her whole body in motion, and her swing connected. the sound of tearing flesh and snapping bone was background noise to the sight of the zombies head flying through the air and smashing through the back window of a car.
