This is data from the VR-World offshoot story line where the VR-World meets the Resident Evil realm. A top secret program in which multidimensional travel has been conducted and resulted in agents of exploration discovering the Resident Evil realm (and other realms). What they found there was not so appealing. A virus used for bio-weapons were discovered being manufactured by a pharmaceutical company. Its effects were horrific. But then, using 2010 tech, and leading on to 2014 tech, the folks from the VR-World have developed a cure for the T and G virus, however, there are side effects depending on how far gone the victim is.
A synthetic style antibody has been created using nano technology. It was really sort of an accident, since not many cells can conquer the T or G virus and adapt fast enough to make up for it all.
For the T-Virus, the tissue begins to resemble a decaying effect after a day, due to the skin basically eating itself to compensate for the adaptation process. This explains why the skin becomes very itchy. What happens is the T-Virus, once contracted, instantly takes effect in the body, and quickly moves about in the body, replicating and over time it mutates to compensate and overcome the amount of the antibody production of its host. The body begins to feel a sickness like the flu, because it begins to produce antibodies. A fever occurs, and cellular replication speeds up to try and compensate for the speed of the replicating virus which seeks to alter the body. The body begins to crave sustenance because of the energy is must use to compensate for fighting off of the virus mass replication and its fast mutations. The body heats up considerably, because of the fast cellular growth. The virus also attacks the mind, causing a numbing effect, and the mouth becomes numb as well. Since the stomach and mouth have high rates of cellular growth as it is, the stomach becomes much more hungry, and the mouth becomes highly impulsive, so even of the person is aware, which in some cases they are slightly aware, they can't help their impulsive reactions to biting anything that looks soft enough to bite and consume, and smells consumable, animals, or other humans are open for consumption. Victims can try to fight it, but ultimately don't win. due to cellular regrowth speeds increased, even after was might seem like death, usually from loss of blood, or drowning, as long as the heart and brain are intact, the person, or what resembles a dead body, can move and impulsively search for consumption. And that is how the virus spreads. These victims can linger for several months before bacteria consumes the motor portions of the brain, causing them to shut down. Smaller creatures don't last as long as larger creatures. Flies will die off after a day or two, larger bugs, maybe a week or less before they decay completely. To stop victims from infecting others, their brain must be destroyed, or the heart must be uninstalled, shot, or destroyed. Victims still need oxygen to power motor functions, cellular division, replication and reproduction. They are not fully "dead" but are, mentally, "dead." They are also numb all over due to the sensory functions of the brain being turned off, as well as any other nerves that are damaged by the virus.
That is with the T-Virus, but the G-Virus is a whole different situation.
The G-Virus is highly reactive to various types of minerals, like blood, iron, calcium, etc. For it to be injected into live tissues, it instantly causes victims to mutate. Basically, the body reacts and the virus itself also mutates at high speed by quickly adapt to the reaction of the body, then it takes over and causes a slightly different effect than the T-Virus, which is a rapid physical alteration. Victims actually retain a good portion of their mind longer than with the T-Virus. But the impulse to consume or reproduce becomes overwhelming for victims. Instinct eventually overcomes the host. The pain from mutation is most likely extremely overwhelming but unstoppable, like bones breaking and mending in different forms very fast. It is literally, instant evolution, and intense pain. Victims, depending on the environment, will almost instantly react and mutate to adapt to whatever environment they are in. Once the virus reaches the brain and completely infects it, the mind of the victim is gone for good. As if a computer got a virus and its registry was rewritten for an entirely new program (or soul). Only impulse exists. The only way to neutralize the victim is to denature the central nervous system.
The cure. Using nanotechnology, synthetic based antibodies that identify a substances are injected into victims, if caught in time. So far, this is the best antivirus method to date. What happens is, the virus is put in a machine with a sample of a blood type and with the antibody production properties. The virus mutate accordingly, and antibodies are made. After several hours of antibody production, as many as possible are collected in as many types as possible, and are synthesized. So, from initial infection, the various antibodies based on the several stages the virus's mutations that are made are re-synthesized and an abundant of them are made. Each virus mutation is also collected and used to create antibodies. When enough of them are available (which is very possible), a vaccine can be administered and the blood content could be reduced to normal, however, the damage that is done must be repaired.
Considerable damage is done to recovering victims, depending on the blood content of the virus;. If not caught fast enough form time of infection, a lasting sickness will linger. At 50% before the point of no return, a person may feel an achy sense like the start of a flue, for about a week. 75% victims could experience vomiting and full blown flue like symptoms. At 90% or more, for about a month there is nasty flue like symptoms. Above 95% is same as 90% but for two months. 99%, half a year. 100% and it is not worth living, because it is a year. This is before the loss of the mind. After loss of the mind, victims are not there. They are blank. They are not infected, nor are they hungering, or impulsive, but yet they are still numb (can't feel), and just exist.
There is a theory. If the brain could be re-circuited, basic functions could be sort of "programmed" into the mind, and the victim could literally be made to be remote operated or to follow verbal commands, or even trained. However, research into this has been banned as an unethical practice. It is made illegal globally. And, organizations like the GPEO have international immunity to seek out and arrest violators of this law wherever such practice may be taking place. In which violators would be brought before an international court under trial for crimes against humanity.
