Well, I recently read that Netflix was creating a new series based on the Resident Evil games. I don't watch a lot of Netflix but I figured that if a show was based on the games themselves and not the movies, then it actually might be good.
Then I read the storyline. It stars the two Wesker sisters, Jade and Billie, who move to Raccoon City and end up one of the few survivors of a zombie takeover. My first reaction was, "Really? Of all the things they could do, they end up with this? That's just stupid." I wouldn't mind if they create a survivor storyline because that's what we do here, but if they create characters related to a main character, it's going to most likely tick off game fans or confuse people who are starting to play the games.
If the writers/creaters really wanted to make a series based on the main characters, then they can easily make a season based on the members of S.T.A.R.S. before, during, and after the first game since we really don't know much about the pasts of most members of Alpha and Bravo Team. If the season is a success, then they can focus on people who actually escaped Raccoon City and are trying to survive from monsters attacking them from around the world.
However, if they want to make original characters surviving Raccoon City and afterwards, they should just create new characters unrelated to the main characters (same last names count). In fact, here area list of characters that they can use:
*Cammie- Age 18. Seven months pregnant.
*Todd- Age 40. Surgeon who is being investigated for negligence resulting in the death of a patient. Has ties to Umbrella.
*Father Ezekiel- Age 32. Priest and teacher at St. Magdelena Catholic School. Watched members of his congregation devoured by zombies and barely escaped unscathed.
*Nancy- Age 25. Freelance photojournalist. Has worked a few times with Ben Bertolucci. May have proof of some of Umbrella's secrets.
*Luke- Age 13. Born with a severe disadvantage for a zombie apocalypse: Deafness.
*Clyde- Age 26. After a long day at the office, he goes home and emerges as Karen (or Karma if he's going out)
*Deven- Age 16. Very poor, but knows how to survive with the most minimal items.
*Raye- Age 29. Former Marine. Removed from her position due to disobeying orders while on duty in Algeria.
There you go Netflix: Eight original characters with no relation to the main characters and therefore will not mess with the storyline. You're welcome.
