Captain Davis: “Last known, hmm.” He looks around. He checks the wrist device. “Here.” He drops a waypoint directed for you only. “This is last known. They won’t be there now. Last contact was good. The giants were shook. We got a quiet prisoner. Shook the mob. I think they know I’m in command, so they went for me and left the others, or didn’t care to chase them. Ritzy said all was quiet last contact I had to him. Lakeland also went silent. I last saw her stationary, up in a tree. She’s probably droning around looking for stuff.” He checks his wrist device.
2nd Lt. Hyla: “Aren’t we like 6 or more miles from our entry point ?”
Captain Davis: “Yep. And that’s how far I ran to get here.”
2nd Lt. Bardlaw: “Still in range. I guess they’re ok.”
Captain Davis: “Team status, all around ?” He looks your way. “Caston.” He looks Bardlaws way. “Bardlaw.” He looks at Hyla: “Hyla.”
2nd Lt. Lakeland: “Lakeland, check.”
2nd Lt. Ritzy: “Ritz, check.”
Captain Davis: “German guy ?”
2nd Lt. Ritzy: “Yeh, he’s with us.”
Captain Davis: “So we’re all on the same
page. Is four are going to recon the terrain this way. We will drop discs periodically. I’ve set range alerts on, so we will be in contact. Stay hidden, keep the family in that hide out. Use your active camo, and observe like a spirit.” The team acknowledges by sending a text of acknowledgement to the Captain. “Good. All is good. Time to proceed.” He drops a disk. “In a mile, Hyla drops a disc, then after you, Bardlaw and then Caston. For every mile of travel one of us drops one.”

The captain acts normal, as well as energetic, but he looks pale when he shouldn’t. You see he’s sipping his water more than normal. He’s also breathing heavy and stumbling more than normal and doesn’t seem as focused. These are all signs of blood loss, but he doesn’t appear to be losing blood that you can see. This is after about 40 minutes of walking.
Captain Davis: “We will need to refill on water next opportunity.” There is a hint of slur on his words.

“Uhh. Hey Cap. We need to take a break. Let’s find somewhere decently hidden. Let me check you out, you seem like you’re running on fumes and I can’t have you going down. Something seems wrong.” I grab my med pack and water and attempt to lead him over so I can do a blood sweep.

Captain David: “You know, there are hero’s, and there are fools. A hero may die from bravery, but a fool might die from foolishly being ignorant. I knew something didn’t feel right.” He turns to Bardlaw and Hyla. “You two, recon drone the area. Keep FLIR-Eye open to possible threats and anomalies. Caston, do a bio check on me. Use my kit, not yours.” The sky is dark. The night life is active and a zipping sound can be heard, in the same loudness katydids do, and there are also “wooh-wooh, wooh-wooh” sounds in random spots. There is no wind, yet there are clouds and long range flashes of lightning, but it’s subtle. There are creatures flying about the tops of trees that have soft-green neon like lights that are also subtle and slowly go on and circle in one spot and then go off slowly. On the FLIR side you see the warm dots of warm blooded creatures all over, including bug like creatures that seem warm blooded. Flying creatures that aren’t warm blooded also can be seen slightly, and there are also snake like creatures too, but not close by. “Well, I’m thirsty, so that means I might have blood loss. You’ll have to numb and use tape to inspect deep. You have my optic-scoptic-wire. If I got a breached blood line, you’ll need to patch it up.” He leaned against a tree and then takes a seat. “Let’s do this.”

To make, all you need is a 5. You made. You examine him and find that his wound is deeper than you expected. He has a triangle hole entering from his right side, just between where the ribs meet the soft area. When you examine with thermals, it’s warmer than normal at the injury. He hands you a plate from his pack and you see that it folds out.
Captain Davis: “Put the plate behind me.” He unfolds it. “Put it along where you think it penetrated me. I feel pressure from here to here.” He shows you, pointing from the entry to just behind his liver area. “Turn on the XRV mode on the wrist device. The four lasers will go on. Hold it over me and estimate where the plate is. You’ll hear a beep when it engages the X-Ray burst, which is it taking a picture.”

You make an X-Ray image of his wound. It shows a thin line going in and then a bunch of pockets of that same substance, which you’ve determined is blood that is deeper in by some arteries, and pierced the liver. The captain grabs the plate and examines it also.
Captain Davis: “Oh, this will require a good lots of pain. But I think you can do this.” He says sarcastically as he hands you the plate. “The nano-drones have been keeping me alive for the run. I’m glad you noticed this.” He points at the plate. “The enemy that got me used a sort of sabre. It didn’t believe he got me this good as I was running. He was on the ground after I shot him and pointed it up at me. I jumped over him as he got me. I should have shot his ass twice. Thought he was down, but he tricked me.” He feels the wound. “Yep. Umm.” He shakes his head. “I don’t like this spot. Patch me up enough to where I can run at least.” He looks around. “Take as many X-Rays as you want. Find least invasive entry for maximum efficient patching, patch vein or artery, however many are damaged, and stitch the wound, inject nano-drones that have my last DNA template installed. I should be able to run immediately, and be fully operational and healed there within a few days.” He turns on his side and winces. The immediate location in the forest seems clear, with the other two keeping watch.

Judging by the X-Ray, you already know you’ll have to make a small entry from his back to bring in the medical stuff needed to fix him. You know you’ll require some nano-drones and replicators to be used as a glue manufacturing agent (which the nano-drone will produce like how slugs make very sticky mucus), on some of the breached veins and aerators. Because his pack has pre-programmed nano-drones specific to his DNA, they can produce substances that can quickly patch areas. You see the pierced liver has two major blood pockets where the damage is most concerning, the rest is just lacerations on the liver, but they can heal over time and are of minimal concern. The captain eats a vitamin pill specific for blood nourishment, to help it produce proteins for healing.
Captain Davis: “I can walk you through for a bit, but if you got it, go on and get it over with. Start trimming.” You notice his pack has all the tools you need to do this. You

I pull out all his equipment, the clamps, suction tube and nano drones and also prepare an antibiotic tape and cleanup materials. I clamp on the entry side to stop excess blood from pouring in and suction off any excess to start. I use the nano drones to inject to the most damaged area that needs the biggest patch and let them work. Once I see most of the patching up is done I begin to clean the excess blood and any debris from the area and check for any leakage or missed spots by the drones that may be problematic before I finish the dressing.
