Anomalous Trip (Part II)

I try to conceal myself as best I can. “If we get separated, don’t chase. I have a plan B.”

Captain Davis: “Caston ! The only reason we are about to distract is so you run away !” The captain sounds angered. “If we distract we put us all at risk.”

You can tell by how the giants legs cut through the water that you could never escape from them in the water if they spotted you. As the closest one to you reaches half way, it sinks into the mud, and takes a moment to get out. One of the wolves runs back and wags its tail and runs back into the tree line. You know of the spot or smell or hear you, it’s over. You also know if Hyla fires one shot, the groups of dogs in the distant will hear it, and could be attracted to the sound. There are seven giants in view, unaware of your presence at the moment. The wise option is to do what the wildlife might do. The captain has urgency in his voice when he speaks.

Captain Davis: “Caston !? Get out of there !”

[slicsinatra]

I get up and make my way stealthily to the wolves’ positions. May I roll?

[Dragnoxz]

Sure, roll Dex (for stealth).

[slicsinatra]

Stealth, 15.

[Dragnoxz]

You reach the wolves without alerting anything. They go down a dry creek bed and continue at a brisk pace.

[slicsinatra]

I follow them, hoping they have somewhere to hunker down. “These wolves are intelligent Captain, they are taking me somewhere to hunker down until the giants pass. I’m between a rock and a hard place here so I need you to trust me and make sure you all have somewhere to go. I’ll catch up.”

[Dragnoxz]

Captain Davis: “They might be Rain Wolves, from the legend. Good luck, oh shi-“ He cuts out for a moment. “A f**king rat or somethin. Anyway, see where they lead you.”

The wolves continue. The giants make it to the other side of the river and continue on inland toward the many groups of dogs. The wolves stop. They seem to suck low.

I flatten myself along the ground with them and wait for their next move. I try to make sure I have my active camo ready.

You can easily fit inside the foot print you are laying next to that has imprinted along side the creek bed.

Captain Davis: “We are backing off. Will monitor from a distance.”

The wolves continue on. They follow the dry creek bed to a small opening in rocks in the ground. You are at the opening. One of those small amphibian like creatures with the quills on its back stand idle by a muddy area between the boulders.
