Anomalous Trip (Part II)

Before I throw, am I being pursued by the dogs or giants?

[Dragnoxz]

Nothing is going after you, that you know of. The dog that yelped is gone, however, you do know that other dogs are probably heading to that location. Nothing is within FLIR range, which is way more range than anything else in the woods. You notice a few emerging a good 140 meters away, but their movement is too loud, so they won’t hear you, and nothing is close heat wise that could hear you.

I hold on to my frag and smoke grenades. I keep my blade out and try to make my way back quickly and stealthily as I can back to my group to find them.

[Dragnoxz]

You’d have to go toward the dogs and giants. Is that what you do ?

[slicsinatra]

No it is not. The player in me chuckles. I got turned around. What is the best way to circumnavigate and make my way back to the river at a passable location, how many miles?

[Dragnoxz]

You don’t know, nor do you have time to find out. You do have a perception roll.

[slicsinatra]

Perception, 17.

[Dragnoxz]

You see the remnant and fading heat signatures of footprints on the ground of where the wolf and the pack of dogs ran toward with the IR sensors.

[slicsinatra]

Same direction as the giants? Or different?

[Dragnoxz]

No, if you take that path, you’ll be following the path the one giant took to chase after them.

[slicsinatra]

I will head in the opposite direction until all is clear then make my way to the river and go back up to try to find where my team went.

[Dragnoxz]

The area toward where you want to go is increasing in activity. You see a row of dogs moving toward you in the front line formation fashion. The footprints on the ground are starting to fade away because they are cooling. Soon will not be able to track where the wolf went. The giant that attempted to give chase to where the dogs gave chase is now running into trees and knocking them over (probably cause it can’t see). At times you here growls and shouts of frustration. The giant is no longer visible and seems to have gone off track.

I drop my head and think. I guess I have to go find the wolf. I head off in that direction as the FLIR begins to fade.

[Dragnoxz]

After a few moments you catch up to where the wolf and the dogs that are giving chase converge, then you begin to see they are getting warmer. You eventually pass the wandering giant to the left. After ten minutes of following the track, you spot a group of dogs below a tree, and a human up the tree, breathing heavily. You identify 5 dogs at the base of the tree, howling and snarling. They are about 180 meters away. You have made some distance from the line of dogs behind you. You have the element of surprise.

I attach my suppressor to my rifle. I take 6 shots total at the dogs. 17, 12, 19, 2, 16, 20. After i finish shooting I check to see if they identify my location.
