Anomalous Trip (Part II)

[slicsinatra]

I attach my suppressor to my rifle. I take 6 shots total at the dogs. 17, 12, 19, 2, 16, 20. After i finish shooting I check to see if they identify my location.

[Dragnoxz]

First hits, and dog stumbles down.

Second hits, dog whimpers and runs off.

Third hits, drops the dog.

Fourth doesn’t appear to have an effect.

Fifth hits, drops the dog.

Sixth hits, drops the dog with a spectacular head inflation and forward section of head explodes and sprays the tree base.

There is a dog stumbling off into the forest. One looking at the other dogs around it, paused and confused. The rest are down.

3 more shots. First one at the stumbling then the other two at the last one. 16, 11, 18.

[Dragnoxz]

The dog starts to yelp loudly, causing the other to look at it just before the shot hits. The dog goes silent from the impact.

Second shot causes the last dog to flinch and shake, the third shot does it in and drops it. The tail wags a sort of uncomfortable flinching slap at the ground before all is silent.

There are echos of distant howls and stumbling of that one giant nearby, as it stumble toward your position. The person in the tree climbs down and limps about. The overall figure heats up and the are sharp speckles of glittering heat signatures flashing as the person smoothly goes from human back to a large wolf, and looks your way before limping quickly deeper into the forest. There are some darker trees that seem to have normal leaves, rather than the large fleshy pine needle leaves like before. The wolf waits for you to follow.

I rush to it and continue into the forest.

[Dragnoxz]

The wolf leads you deeper, and as you continue, the sounds of the dogs and giants fades, and all you hear is your breathing and running. You see the wolf up ahead and the foot prints on FLIR. You notice the gradual change in the trees to leafy trees, and the canopy starts to get more dense.

Captain Davis: “Caston, we are running from a horde army. Will report back when clear.”

[slicsinatra]

“These wolves are shifters. When clear for a second can you send me your info on ‘Rainwolves’. I’m trying to communicate better with this one. They see me as friendly.” I follow the wolf deeper.

[Dragnoxz]

Captain Davis: “I’ll try to find what I have on them. Speak around them for a while, they have a way with learning languages fast. The file I read said they’re extremely intelligent. They’re bio-dimensional, whatever that means. Oh-shi-“ he goes silent. You hear very distant gunfire after a few moments. “I’m bac-. We ha- a run -n with - c-ster. We’r- going - cr-s back to -e f-st town we w-. I m-t split fr- the team - get some di-ance so they lose track of eve-ne.” He gets this information out as he’s running, so it sounds broken among his heavy breathing. The enemy is bleeding their energy out, putting pressure against their stamina. You, on the other hand, have a slow tracking, yet fast sprint enemy closing in on you. To rest could cost you. To double back will cost you. To maintain your speed will most likely keep you way ahead of this dangerous foe.

Perception 18.

[Dragnoxz]

You notice the other wolf close behind you. You feel a sort of comfort with her back there, as if to keep a watch out behind, however, you for sure can see much further than she can, even with her that far from you. She of course wouldn’t know, but at least she’s there.

[slicsinatra]

Once we are alone seemingly. I begin talking aloud to them calmly. “I was told you all can pick up language fast. If I talk to you more, hopefully you’ll understand me and can tell me some things. I have questions.”

[Dragnoxz]

They remain at a defensive distance to you, watching the area. The lead one begins moving again, deeper into the forest. After several hours, you begin to hear the wildlife again, and things seem to be much more normal and calm compared to the rage and intensity in the air from earlier. You see the lead wolf stop, and sneak up to something that you already saw, a hot object is moving about. It’s another me of those strange wildlife beings from earlier. It appears to be minding its own business.

I check my wrist device for info on the Rainwolves if I can find any archived data.

[Dragnoxz]

You have mission specific data. There are fils on the family you were sent to rescue and files on your gear. There are also files on possible enemies, like the barbarian like anrmy and the hand wavers and the German forces. There is no data on Bedtagon inhabitants.

[slicsinatra]

“Geez. You’d think they’d set me up with interdimensional Google or something.” I continue with the wolves.
