“Sorry yes it’s from me. We are still good, you got it?” I keep looking to see if the Captain split and when if he did split from the group.

Captain Buck: “Right. Downloading data.” He waits for it to load. “In.” He checks the data. “I’ll show only your path. X, find his commanders path and place a waypoint on the split.”
2nd Lt. Marx: “Yes sir.” He uses the touch screen to his left, and highlights both your and Capt. Davis’s path. “Link is active. If we pass over them we will receive the uplink request.”
Captain Buck: “I f**king hope so.”
SSgt. Easton: “Unknowns. Ship-330, Comp-060 !”
Captain Buck: “Ident !?”
SSgt. Easton: “It dipped. Looked like a hand waver.”
Captain Buck: “Send some pop-pop’s ahead of it in the trees it ran to. I’ll circle around.”
SSgt. Easton: “Rodg.” He attempts to fire some grenade shells ahead of its estimated path of movement to scare it back, however, the grenade launcher jammed. “s***. I forgot to- Dammit.” He messes with the weapon. The target is to the front left of the chopper but has no room to slow in time for an attack. The pilot rolls right rather than left, which will give a better approach rather than keeping the target in on the left side close. You notice that this chopper is equipped with a bunch of rocket pods on the sides. You know that hand waver isn’t gonna make it. BANG ! The overflow has just maxed out and released energy on the top of the chopper.
2nd Lt. Marx: “Confirmed hostile. There’s probably lots of them there shooting their s*** at us.”
Captain Buck: “Gonna light em up.” He rolls out of the turn and noses down. The chopper descends quickly. ShooShoo, ShooShooShooShoo, ShooShoo ! The chopper fires several rockets at the area the hand waver was last seen.
2nd Lt. Marx: “Nice group. Nice hits.”
The chopper noses up and rolls right.
Captain Buck: “Reminds me of those Vietnam war movies. Just these are truly evil enemies.” He rolls left to look at the terrain and then levels out before returning to the path. “Continuing.”
Captain Dixie: “I saw your attack run. Lakelands path intersects up ahead. It's converging on your trajectory. Upload data to me.”
Captain Buck: “Uploading.”
Captain Dixie: “This is the area she started to run. This is where she ran out of ammo. Her rifle was back by the river side still, untampered. She retrieved it.”
Captain Buck: “Caston. We’ve reached a destroyed bridge. Familiar ?”

“Yup. This is where we split and I met the wolves. I believe they headed more inland. Not sure where though since my signal got cut off going into the ravine.”

Captain Buck: “Look around. We will do a plus sign for about five miles in all directions then a square around our path, then cross each quadrant. Your team tags will show up if they’re still here. Dixie’s is here, she will start at a different altitude and perform the same search pattern in a mirror to us. Then we will follow the streams and rivers low level. This 10 by 10 square mile area will be fully searched. Then we will open up another quadrant separately and switch it up in a rotating manner till we find something or run out of fuel.” He shares the flight plan once his copilot completes it. Since they have active sharing on you can see their flight plans and fuel level as well as other flight data, though you can’t edit or control any of it because you aren’t a pilot or copilot.
The flight pattern continues, but there is nothing on the first and closest section. They begin another 10 by 10 each and there is still nothing, not even along the rivers. Each section takes about an hour. They begin to run low after about three hours. You’ve spotted nothing.
2nd Lt. Marx: “No joy, Caston ?”

“Nothing on my end.” I sigh. “I hope they are okay.”

Captain Buck: Let’s head back and refuel.”
Captain Dixie: “We found something.”
Captain Buck: “Lee hear it.”
Captain Dixie: “One of their rifles. There was a fight here. Two dead giants. A lot of trees down.” Their copilot places a location mark.
You see on your end a drone signature pop up just outside of the search section to the west, about 7 miles from your location.

“That may be a good sign.” I look around the area as we approach.

Captain Buck: “We still need to refuel.”
Captain Dixie: “I still have 10 minutes of loiter time.”
Captain Buck: “Ok, loiter for ten. RTB, then come back out.”
Captain Dixie: “Roger.” The chopper rolls and levels out heading to the east.
Captain Buck: “You guys are far to the west of the action, right where all the enemies and giants are. They’ve gone too far to the west by now. It gets very sketchy. This is all behind enemy lines. We have air superiority, but they have land superiority. The Nal’yus, or the golden skinned dragons of this region have agents of their own. You might have seen some of them. The Kypes. They are small amphibian like creatures that have a porcupine looking quills that shoot like darts. One prick of them it’s death. Don’t touch or act hostile to them. The big red birds are Flazem or Flaz something’s, I don’t remember the word for them, but they are like watchdogs for them. They can communicate somehow organically. They are very social from what we’re told. I hope this helps you in the field.”

“It does thanks.” I check my mags before I dismount. I didn’t give all to the LT when I gave him my rifle. I should have 3-4 left.

Captain Buck: “Good, good. I’m not the expert but I remember from briefings those two.” When you check, you find three full mags, and one with 11, and another with just one shot left. There is an empty mag in the rifle. Your pistol has not been used yet.

I reload the 11 mag w the left over bullet and take out the empty mag and replace with a full and rack it. “Anyone have any 7.62 on them? I may need it.”

Captain Buck: “At the FARP. Look for the f**ked up chinook. All you can eat for small arms.” The chopper tilts to the left slightly and then circles as it approaches to land.

“Gotcha.” I wait to disembark. I will get off first to help secure landing from anyone who may be waiting to jump at our vulnerability.

You notice you are about to land at the FARP. It was but 23.8 miles to the east of the action area. The chopper lands. Friendlies come to fuel up the chopper.
Captain Buck: “Go, get your rifle some food.”

“Rodger.” I didn’t realize we were in a safe zone. This world is much more built up than I thought. I go to find the broken chinook and fill up on ammo.
