The chopper rotates to allow the right side gunner to see a nice view.
SSgt. Seawall: “Starboard face at one three, gunner is occupied !”
Captain Buck: “Roger !” The chopper rotates to have the left side face the possible threat. The gunner readies the Mk-19.
SSgt. Easton: “Covering !” You are lowered to tree top level when your rifle gets to about 150 meters and below you at 45 degree angle. By the time you are in the trees you see a lone 2nd Lt. Bordeaux. He looks up and waves for you to hurry up. Behind him you are two giants stumbling through the forest. You are below the canopy and at giant head level. The giant sees you lowering. Gunner up top has yet to fire. It’s reasonable to believe they don’t have a visual. Yet, you keep being lowered. The first giant breaks a large tree branch off one of the trees and starts breaking off the smaller branches to make a stick. A big stick. The one behind it tries to pull the first giant away and looks fairly cautious about the situation. Bordeaux is now below you about 45 meters, waiting for you to be low enough.

“Whoever has the big gun, keep eyes on the area, giants coming. Picking up a friendly, be ready to pull me up. EXPEDITIOUSLY! I’ll give you my call out.”

The chopper immediately lowers as a safe but quick descent. Within moments you are on the ground and there is some slack in the cable.
SSgt. Seawall: “Four up !” The chopper goes back up about ten feet. “Hold !” She calls out. The pilot got some tension on the cable so it’s not all over the place and you have room to move around. The giant with the stick is almost done, and is about 122 meters from you, well within seconds of its running distance. The stick looks big enough to do damage if the giant throws it at it. You would be in a very bad position if it does decide to throw the massive tree branch. Though the gunner can’t see the area, they can see landmarks, and can tell distance. Bordeaux runs up to you.
2nd Lt. Bordeaux: “Hold this !” He hands you the rifle. No shots left. He unhooks the harness from the hook/D-Hook, and is about to try to hook you both together. The giant has just a few branches left before it does whatever it may do.

As he’s hooking I take out and unpin two frags. I keep the spoon held and when in range I toss both grenades at the feet of the giant. “100 meters in front of my position, suppressing fire, GO!” I toss the grenades.

First grenade lands exactly where you want it, like dead on at one of the feet just by the inner side. The second lands close by. The giant breaks the tip of the tree branch off and very rapidly swings it back as a preemptive to swing at the chopper. In the back swing, first grenade explodes, ripping a massive wound on its right foot. The second explodes shortly after as it raises that first (right foot) out of instant pain and it stumbles to its right and exposed that it’s actually a male. He shouts horridly and the tree branch falls over. He rolls to try and get up as the one behind him backs up.
SSgt. Easton: “Got visual !” He pops a few grenade rounds at the shorter giant and lands two shots on its head, causing it to back off and turn away and run. The larger one looks at its foot and turns away to crawl away, but doesn’t stand on the damaged foot. One foot is severely injured while the other has shrapnel wounds that gush blood. It cries out and continues to crawl away. “Clear !” No more giants remain in the area. Bordeaux clips on the hook to where you both are connected and he signals the all clear to go up.
SSgt. Seawall: “East Up !” She calls out. The chopper starts to go up. “Up. Up. Up !” She calls out once the cable is tense, and up as fast as a Blackhawk can climb in a hover you go. Before you know it you are about 400 feet above the trees just dangling. The helicopter slows its climb and hovers in place until you are all the way up. Then the nose dips down slightly to fly forward. Seawall pulls you in and Bordeaux grabs a handle and helps you to pull you both in. He hooks something onto your harness and you are no longer able to fall out. He finds a seat and straps in. He signals you to do the same. You notice the hook is just a safety precaution he did, you can unhook it any time and strap into a seat. Seawall takes her spot from Easton on the right side gun-mount position and straps in. She checks the weapon and gives the pilot and copilot a thumbs up.
Captain Buck: “Next location ?”

2nd Lt. Lakeland: “No.” She says.
Captain Buck: “Let’s start with your path of travel. Send waypoint along your path all the way to where you started in this dimension.”

Intel to see if I can get the path right?

Sure. Though you have a record of where you’ve gone, like the path you traveled, including the elevation, which is how you found the hole you climbed down which is where you repelled down form the chopper. Your weapon even has a history of where it’s been, so later you’ll be able to go back and see where’s Buck went while he had your rifle and where he fired the weapon.
You can upload the data to the choppers computer since you’re linked. The copilot or pilot can then click on your name and select reveal path history (or RPH as the acronyms on the tab will be seen by them as an option), on the GPS. Their GPS doesn’t stand for Global Positioning Satellite, it stands for General Positioning System, which also functions and doubles as a Global Positioning Satellite since the chopper (or GU system) has a satellite connection ability. They of course are not always connected to a satellite, since this isn’t earth. However, you notice a soft woman’s voice say “GPS Connected” every once in a while, which from your perspective could mean there is a satellite in orbit of this planet. You will hear that GPS Connected message on earth a lot as they start the chopper up of you are on the pilots frequency. The GU system a full blown unique operating system that’s only able to be linked through a persons bio signatures, some of the most restricted ones require up to three, even five signatures for overrides. That means s*** can get locked and only be used or unlocked by the user approved for a specific device, like a weapon or aircraft of even a ship and as simple as a door or safe.
The GU system (Global Unit) doesn’t just stand for Global, as in planet or globe, it means overall. Like the Directors acronym title being GOD, its Global Organization Director. OOD sounds odd, so global was used.
Regardless, you can upload your path of movement to the chopper, and the pilot and copilot can select your path history and follow it on their GPS system, while you look around. Lakeland has probably already started to do this.

I upload my path to them and activate the necessary GPS and see if I’m able to track my movements back to the river me and the Captain separated.

You can see your path and the captains path and the entire teams path, but you have been so far away that the paths end when your connection was lost, when you were in the ravine and underground. Captain got a notification and request to upload.
Captain Buck: “New data ?”

(He is receiving it from you). When you submit a link to transfer data, it shows up on the receiving parties end. In this case, you are sending it to the aircraft. Only the officer in charge of the aircraft will get the notice. This being the captain. So in essence, he is the spirit of the chopper, and the loadmaster is his right hand (for payload and weapons and armament and fuel duty). Captain receives the request.
Captain Buck: “Is this from you, Caston ?” He sounds abrupt, almost desperate. He’s probably experienced unknown transmissions that weren’t from friendlies before. Remember, in this dimension, anything can seem real, but could be something else. “I need to know.”
