Anomalous Trip (Part II)

Captain Buck: “We will be close, here to cover. Call when ready for extract.”

FLIR wise it does not look recent. The chopper crew would have informed you of heat nearby. Whatever happened here happened several hours ago. There is a bunch of sap hardening where branches have been torn off of plants and trees. It smells of a sweet pine sap as if someone mixed honey syrup into pasted pine leaves, at least that’s the strongest smell and you identify that it’s coming from the big trees that have been damaged. You smell a hint of lemon coming from some of the plants you’ve been hacking away at. You are about 78 meters from the location. The sound of the chopper fades but remains close enough to quickly extract.

SSgt. Easton: “Estimated distance ?”

“78 meters and counting, will stay in contact.“ I continue on.

You reach the location. You don’t see him, but you see the ground has been disturbed in the location. You see the tag showing up but it’s like it’s underground just a bit. Perception.

You notice strips of uniform partially in the ground. Then you begin to notice very troublesome features, such as hair, flaps of skin, bone, flesh all mixed in the dirt. It reminds you of how you saw that Evoker you shot got smashed by one of the giants. You see some fragments of the same kind of gear you have, including a belt, some medical gear, some gauze and mashed intestine and some yellow of mashed kidney, with dark red paste you’ve identified as liver. You begin to smell the blood and dirt and even fecal matter from the intestine and urine from the kidney and mashed bladder. Millions of those four legged ant like bugs are also swarming the location. The more you look you notice a vest smashed into the ground and some clips and some copper rounds peeking up out of the dirt. They are the same kind of ammo you have. If you try to pull it out of the ground you must roll strength.

I turn to my companion. “Grab what’s scattered of his gear..I’ll try to see if I can get him up.” Strength 15.

[Dragnoxz]

You pull the vest up and it tears, two clips fly out. One has a few bullets in it, the other is empty. Some mix of flesh and dirt peel up and off of dermis (skin). The belt is more exposed, as well as a section of ribs connected to part of the uniform. Roll strength if you try to pull that up, and roll a second time for a potential surprise.

[Dragnoxz]

You pull up the belt with some of his spine, and hip. Two more clips fall, one is full, another has a few shots in it. You barely miss his throwing knives as you pull up the belt, of which could have cut you. Three fall next to the clips.

[slicsinatra]

“My god. Sir..there isn’t much to recover of him. Christ.” I place what I have down. “God dammit. He needs to be buried but f**k I can’t even get him if I had a f**king bag.” I put my hands on my knees in a defeated stance. “f**k!”

[Dragnoxz]

Captain Buck: “I’ll vary a team there to retrieve him. Leo red with documenting the area, and quick. The rest of your team could still be out there, alive.”

[slicsinatra]

I grab what I can from his gear. Is his ammunition the same caliber as mine?

[Dragnoxz]

Yes. It is. What all do you grab ?

[slicsinatra]

I grab all of his ammo I can carry, and all of his knives. I plan to keep some ammo and give some to the crew to take back for their inventory.

You actually have thee spots that you can put clips that you’ve lost when you let Lakeland borrow the rifle.
