Thorton had wandered a bit further away from the line of stands than he had intended, and he had been trying to find her again since the lights and sounds had come on. This wasnt right. It sounded like he had walked them into a trap. He'd never found the source of the screams, and as soon as the carnival came to life, he couldnt hear it anymore. He doubted it was because of the other sounds blocking his vision. He wouldnt just lose track of the terrified screams he had heard before just like that.
But, he was more concentrated on another set of sounds. Quick footsteps, and then a gunshot. He knew it had to be Andreya.
He limped his way to where the gunshot had come from, seeing her off in the distance before anything else. Without hesitation, he started making his way over to her, never seeing Sniff or the soldiers on the other side of the carnival.
"Andreya." He said, trying to keep his voice down but still make it travel the distance to her. Sniff must have heard it as well, because before he could make it to her the mutant dropped from the top of one of the kiosks and started making its way to her. "Down!" He yelled, and she obliged without hesitation.
The thing was fast. It moved almost too quick for Thorton to keep a bead on it. Almost. His .460 revolver highlighted the creature in the sights, the hammer building up to a conclusion as he squeezed the trigger, and all at once, it was over with the sound of the gunshot. The hammer slammed down on the round, the round exited, and the creature unknowingly to him called Sniff received the highly lethal bullet through the chest cavity. The bones stopped the round, but anything touched by the lead was shattered, the tissue of the creatures chest torn apart by the specialty round. In short, a single shot ended the tourtured existance of one, Sniff.
"In here." Thorton said, knowing the gunshot would bring all sorts of unwanted attention down on them. He hauled her to her feet by her hand and pulled her along into the nearest cover he could see.
The abandoned funhouse.

(Mikey, Borrowing Thorton for a moment)
Andreya held onto Thorton tightly as she continued to cry. Her cries where heavy and followed between wheezing and coughing. She looked far paler than she had before they entered the place. With Thorton's help he sat her down against the wall, and went to scrounging around the backpack for what he needed. He pulled out two items one her inhaler, and the other an epi pen. He brought the epi pen to her leg, and gave her a quick shot. Waiting just a bit before he helped her with her inhaler. He waited by her side for a moment before she started to calm down. Once she had calmed down enough he put everything back into her backpack and sealed it up.
She looked up at Thorton tiredly before wrapping her arms around him, and resting her head on his chest. Nothing was going right, and one thing lead to another. She was wondering if they were going to ever get out of Raccoon, and knowing well enough that it was her fault they were here in the first place. "Thank you," she said lightly and with his help she climbed to her feet. Picking up the backpack with her arm and noticed that the pain wasn't as bad as it was a few days ago. She smiled a bit as she looked up at Thorton, and then into the shadows of the room.

"Awww. that's just one happy family right there"
The voice came from a dummy prop in the funhouse room. Usually intended to direct visitors, the mercs hooked it up to their security network. A camera installed in the top corner watched their movements.
"but you killed Sniff, we can't let that slide."
The doors slammed shut and locked. The mercs where on their way to find the two. One of the traps was activated, a dark red gas started pouring out of the rigged fire sprinkler funnels and pipes.
"You two look like you've been through some stress, this should put you in a better mood."
They'd run out of lethal gas a while back, so had to make do with what they had until the next resupply. The gas was developed by a chemist in the surgeons employ, intended as an interrogation tool and derived from nitrous oxide, in short a potent form of laughing gas.
"Big smiles for the cameras."
****************************************************
"Okay.....I don't mean you any harm."
Joe struggled to stand again. The twins had been cheap shotting and sucker punching him for a good ten minutes, then diving back into hiding.
"If I'm tresspassing I apologise, just come on out and we can talk."
Hearing another swing behind him he turned and tried to apply a wrist lock on his attacker, only to grab one of Slithers tentacle arms, the other two pinned his free arm and wrapped around his throat, picking him a foot off the ground.
Patch grabbed the hammer from one of the strength test games and marched up. The last people he hit broke and the mercenaries punished him by skipping his medicine, but maybe he'd get it right this time.
He aimed at the back of Joes head as his brother held him still. One way to find out.
WHAP!

Thorton saw the gas start to float out of the water pipes at the cealing, and he cursed. Ten to one, it wasnt lethal. These guys already seemed to have gone to too much trouble to set all of this up to kill off their test subjects. He was reinforced in his thought process by the man's words, almost telling him exactly what was going to happen, and ready to stake his life on it. But, he wasnt ready to stake Andreyas.
"Put this on." He said, pulling off his gas mask and helping her get it on. It was an older model with a new twist, the air filter in the front replaced with a gadget of some kind that recycled air used by the person wearing it. A compact way to keep soldiers safe, compliments of the TFP. He secured the mask to her and used his hand to cover his own mouth and nose. He had a balaclava on, and he could hold his breath for a reasonable amount of time. He figured he could get them out of there soon enough.
He fought the lightheadedness as he started checking for a door or other way out.

Andreya held onto Thorton's arm tightly as they moved threw the fun house. To tell the truth she didn't find any fun in it. She looked up at him with worry wishing there was something she could do, but again she found herself useless in this situation. Give her a small lab and she could probably find something to counter it with what she learned in school, but now there was nothing she could do. She watched Thorton carefully waiting for the signs. She knew one the gas had started taking affect he would lose the ability to think clearly and that was always bad. Gripping his arm tightly her eyes never leaving him, and she wondered just how long he could hold his breath, and when that failed how long before the gas seeped threw his fingers. "Thorton?" she whispered in the mask.

Most of the mercs gathered at one of the funhouse doors, ready to move in and claim their prisoners.
"Okay, the gas is obscuring the cameras, but I still see movement, watch yourselves."
The team put their own gas masks on and checked their weapons, going for the non lethal approach as ordered they had passed out a set of tazers and telescopic batons. The door was opened by remote and closed as they got inside.
"Target is still standing! They got masks too!"
"You get the girl, I got the soldier boy."
The first attacker lunged with his tazer, striking Thornton in the chest armour to no effect.
"Uh, guys, we got a problem."
"Freakin idiot! I told you to go for exposed parts."
A second merc grabbed Andreya by the backpack and started tugging on her mask, trying to expose her to the gas and keep her out of the fight in case she pulled her own weapon.
"Quit squirming kid, this will be over in a few minutes."

Andreya cried out as she tried to squirm away from the man as he held her backpack. She even tried to push his hand away from the mask. "Stop it!!" she screamed out, finally wiggling free of the back pack she pushed the man back far enough so she could fix the mask. She turned around looking for Thorton as she panted slightly. "Thorton!" she cried out as she bumbled into a wall. Her hand ran along the wall as she tried her best to edge away from where he knew the man was. She hated fun houses, mostly because they weren't fun and more or less scary. This one was just far worse than the others. Tears streaming down her face as she panted heavily. She could already feel her chest tightening, and her head was hurting. The room was all hazy from the gas, she had wondered to far away from Thorton, and she no longer had her backpack. "THORTON!" she screamed before coughing heavily.

Thorton saw the exit, and the obsticals there were blocking it. Only one way out, and he was more than happy to take it. The single man who had tried to bring him down with a taser stood there, seemingly shocked that his attempt hadnt worked. Thorton smacked the prod to the side and took a step foreward. He grabbed the man around the neck in a headlock, forcing his knees out from under him, and twisted with his whole upper body. The force was too much, and the man went limp with a sickening crack.
Thorton searched the gas for another one, having a hard time seeing in the mist. From behind, he felt a painful jab to his right knee, the good one, and his leg buckled. When he was on one knee, he felt another blow that was much less damaging between his shoulder blades, dampened almost comepletely by his armored vest. He slammed back with his elbow, catching someone in the stomach as he struggled to stand again. But, an attack from someone at his side with another hard blow, this time to his neck, sent him to the ground.
In this, his hand had left his mouth, and he was now struggleing to keep the air in his lungs. He needed to end this faster. He saw the figure looming over him, saw the nightstick raised above the figures head, and reacted quicker. He pulled his .460 revolver from its holster and aimed in less than a second, firing two rounds to make up for it. Both entered the man, both being shots that would have killed him. He saw the figure at his side continue to advance, and turned to fire the last two rounds from his revolver, again without aiming.
He knew he was out and dropped the weapon on the ground, trying to draw his Glock when he felt a sharp impact to his face. He tried still to draw the weapon when he felt another impact. The world finally went black.

"Crap, that went a little worse than expected. Find all his gear and lock this jackass up. I'll find the kid."
The rest of the mercs gathered Thornton's guns and dragged him outside the funhouse, the leader catching up to Andreya by the sound of her coughing.
"There ya are brat!" He pulled her gasmask off. "Just give up kid before we put a bullet in your friend."
Out of sight, a small rat man like mutant was crawling around the funhouse. Finding the dropped backpack he scampered off back to a private tent near where the mutants slept.

As soon as the man pulled the gas mask off of her she quickly covered her mouth and nose only to have him try and pry her hands away. Andreya cried out as she continued to struggle. Her wheezing becoming a lot more noticeable. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and she nearly froze when they mentioned shooting Thorton. She hadn't thought of him getting caught. It wouldn't be like him to get caught, but there was no sound of struggle anywhere. As the man pulled on her arm she fought a bit before he grabbed her by the back of the neck, and tightened his grip on her bad arm. Andreya cried out before unwillingly complying with him as he pulled her out of the fun house just in time to see them dragging Thorton out, and he was out cold. "Thorton!" she screamed as she tried to run to him only to cry out and grab her right arm when the man had not let go of her.

Andreya and Thornton were dragged to a large tent on the grounds a lab was set up in the back with a small makeshift prison to the front. Thornton was stripped of his outer armour and guns and bound with chains before being thrown in an animal cage. Joe was in a similar condition in the next cage over.
"Hey doc?" The merc holding Andreya yelled. "You're out of cages."
"Alvays with ze interruptions." One of the surgeons underlings came out from the back of the lab. He gave Andreya a quick look over. "Vell just throw her in ze box."
She was dragged over to a table with an old box prop from a magic show. The kind used for sawing a person in half illusions. Andreya was picked up by two mercs and forced into it, a set of padlocks kept it shut and stopped the panels from separating, wouldn't do to have her just slip out. Her head poked out the top of the box.
"Christ, I hate when we have to bring in kids. They always cry, then I get headaches."
"Well we can't just let her go now." Both mercs left to their previous jobs, leaving the doctor and the guards.
Joe moved to the edge of his cage closer to Thornton.
"I'm sorry to see you two having gotten caught up here as well. My name is Joe, hopefully things can be worked out here without any trouble."
"Zat is for mein superior to decide." The doctor paced the floor in front of the three prisoners. "I shall contact him momentarily and he vill decide your eventual fates."

The smaller mutant took the bag to the sleeping quarters of Toad, the alpha of the carnival mutants.
"Little spy, little spy. What do you bring your king?"
He took the bag and gave the contents a quick look, chuckling low.
"Wake the others, tell them our time is today."

"Oh, theres gonna be some f**kin' trouble." Thorton whispered, trying to free his hands. The restraints were easy enough to get out of, but with these ****ants standing around, it would make it a bit harder. And then the cage. He was reasonably sure he could get out, but it all came back to the armed men.
He started by rubbing his wrists against the chains, rubbing them together before twisting them individually. Soon enough, he felt the sting and the wetness that came from the chains digging into the skin and drawing blood. He was halfway there. About the time to try and get someone over here.
"Hey. You, you sorry excuse for a Nazi reject. Ya, you, get the f**k over here. Too much of a girl thingy to make any of the big boy choices? You got the guy who took out three of your cicle jerk squad right here in a cage. Do somethin' about it. How about you two? Look like you got kicked out of some half assed operation for bending over in the head." Thorton said. He could keep this up for days and never once repeat himself. One of the skills that was almost required to be an instructor at Parris Island. And if he was doing it right, someone was gonna get ****ed off and open up the cage for what they thought was an easy beatdown. All the while, he kept working the chains on his wrists, blood seeping freely now.

Andreya had struggled all to much when she realized that they had Thorton. She was scared to death for them, and she didn't want any harm to come to him. He was the last thing she had left on the planet. Still even though she wasn't struggling she was still having problems breathing. An even though her hands were hidden inside the box she was gripping her chest tightly as she continued to struggle to breath. When she had heard Thorton's voice she opened her eyes and tried her best to look for him. Her wheezing was coming in long noticeable sounds as she struggled a bit in the box. She was scared to death, and as she tried her best to cry out all that came out was heavy coughing and wheezing.

"You talk too much you evolutionary throwback."
The doctor put together an inhaler from the medical supplies.
"You vould do best to save your breath on ze cheap insults and focus some concern on ze child."
He help the inhaler over Andreya and gave her a few puffs to stop her asthma attack. Afterwards he pulled him a screen in front of the group, a loading bar came up signifiying it was connecting a communication.
"This had better be good." The image came up of a man in a skull like mask, in the background several more mercs were packing crates onto a helicopter. "I'm in the middle of important business."
"Herr Surgeon, we have captured three new subjects pending your approval." The doctor moved a small camera over the cages. "Two adult males, fine physical condition and excellent hand to hand combatants from what we've seen."
"and the third?"
"Teenage girl." The camera was pointed at Andreya
"She looks quite ill."
"Asthma attack, I have enough resources to keep her well."
"Hmm, keep her as leverage. If the two other try any heroics, hurt her. I have to take my leave now, but I'll have a team sent in to pick them up in a day or two." The Surgeon signed off.
"You are quite lucky, he lets you live. For now I suggest you keep ze child calm so I can vork vithout ze interruptions." ****************************************************
The mutants moved slowly through the camp picking off a few mercs at a time, hiding the bodies after. Toad made his way towards the lab tent. ***************************************************
"Your daughter." Joe asked Thornton. "Is she going to be okay? as much as I hate to agree with our captors, she doesn't look too well."
He was trying to stay calm. He was okay with risking himself, but now with others in trouble the pressure of the situation was building.

Andreya rolled her head slightly as she let out a slight moan. She looked lazily around the room as she still attempted to look for Thorton. She wanted to see if he was alright. She knew she heard his voice, but she still couldn't see him. "T- Thorton?!" she asked almost letting out a cry as she did. She couldn't understand it for some reason she was feeling tired, but it was always like that when she wasn't given the right kind of medication. Still she could breath better than before. Though inside the box her good hand gripped her shirt above her chest. It was still hurting, and it was like she could feel her heart beating threw her chest. Her right arm was long since numb. When she had turned she had re hurt her arm, and with the numbing sensation she had at least guessed that she had pinched a nerve or something.
