Phoenix jogged alongside Anna, steadily heading toward their goal.
"Let's hope at least one of the trucks is still there, and let's hope the keys are inside, where they should be," Phoenix told Anna, when asked about her plan. "We're gonna use it to plow our way through to the front gate. We'll improvise from there."
Once the two women reached the stairwell, they entered, shutting the heavy steel door behind them. Two flights of stairs later, they reached the roof access door. Phoenix immediately noticed that the door was bound shut by a heavy padlock and chain.
"Step back," she warned Anna, holstering her MK23, then reaching for the forty-millimeter shotgun on her back.
Phoenix removed a single shell from her bandolier and loaded it into the shotgun's magazine tube. She then racked the pump and took aim for the padlock and chain. Squeezing the trigger, Phoenix recoiled back as the extraordinary shotgun kicked substantially harder than any typical one. The slug punched a hole straight through the padlock, then all the way through the metal door.
"Well, that was effective," Phoenix smiled a bit, thankful that Cel had fulfilled her request for such a gun.
Phoenix kicked the door a single time, as hard as she could, and it flew open. She slung her rifle over her back once more, preparing to run.

Anna cringed at the fire from the shotgun. The hall to Roof Access was narrow and long, the noise was almost amplified thanks to the recently deserted environment. Either way, Phoenix weakened the lock and managed to kick it open with one full swoop.
When the door had flung open, a gust of wind and loud whirring of blades had pushed both women back a little. Looking up, Anna shielded her eyes from the churning dirt that lifted from the take off . One of the evac choppers had been almost two feet in the air and only ascended higher before taking off completely.
Pushing her dishelved bangs back behind her ears, with no success, she'd walked forward. "Ain't that a b*tch?" she growled a little more to herself than to Phoenix. She'd suddenly felt a crunch beneath her boot and looking down, she'd found a badge left behind. Kneeling down to pick it up, she'd found a B.S.A.A. ID.
"Captain Harrison Gibbs," she said, recognizing the face as her captain. She'd pocketed the ID in her back pocket and looked at Phoenix.
"When I get to Florida, you can bet this assh*le will be remembered for being a f*cking coward," she told her before jogging across the otherside of the helipad. "The garage is under this flat, I take it we're climbing down into it?" she asked, looking down at the short drop to the flat roof.

Phoenix ran out onto the roof and gave the area a good look around. She moved to the edge and peered over, looking to the ground level outside. The courtyard was filled with chaos. Bodies littered the area-- some dead, some not so dead. The area was now a sea of infected, dotted with living people putting up a struggle, but were obviously doomed.
"What the..." Phoenix hushed to herself, completely speechless at the sight that lay before her.
An entire camp of armed soldiers had been completely compromised in a matter of minutes. Phoenix began to wonder how the rest of the city-- unarmed civilians-- held up against the attack. Not well, she presumed.
"Let's move!" Phoenix shouted to Anna over her shoulder. The air was poluted with the sound of the last evacuation helicopter taking off, gunshots, shouts, and moans from the infected.
Phoenix couldn't see beneath the car port from this position. It looked as though they were going to have to jump down to ground level to even check if there was a vehicle available. If there wasn't, they wouldn't have a way back up, and would be forced to fight the crowd of infected, which would likely result in their deaths.
Phoenix took lead, jogging to the end of the roof. There was a large gap in between the roof and the car port-- a gap which lead to the sea of infected below. Phoenix began to gauge the distance, estimating whether or not they would be able to jump it.
"We're gonna have to jump."
Phoenix lifted her shotgun from her shoulder and heaved it over. It tumbled against the car port's steel roofing. She did the same to her shell bandolier. Taking a few steps back beforehand, Phoenix got a running start, then leapt over
"Now you!" Phoenix yelled to Anna. This jump would be a lot easier, since Phoenix would be there to spot Anna if she needed it.

Anna watched Phoenix toss her heavier gear across the small gap and watched it tumble along the rooftop of the port. Then Phoenix was next. When she safely made it across, she'd waved the agent over. Anna didn't need to be told twice considering she'd done this a few times before.
She'd taken a couple steps back and then jolted forward, vaulting over the gap and tumbling onto the rooftop. When she'd rolled onto her stomach, she'd pushed herself up with both hands and got to her feet.
"I'll take a look at the trucks over here, you look over there," she said, wandering over to the farther side of the roof and dropping back down to her stomach. She'd crawled over to the ledge and peeked under to see two men and a woman running through the port and taking shots at some shambling undead giving chase.
It wasn't long until one of the men ran out of ammo and in a rush to reload, he was tackled by two undead. The remaining man and woman had left him behind to his fate, allowing the man to distract the four undead while they got to a truck.
"Damn, that's stone cold..." she muttered. Swallowing a lump in her throat, she'd bit her lip and looked on to locate another car. Those other two would likely put a bullet in her or Phoenix before helping them.
"There's four shamblers in there and three trucks left on this side," she said watching one of them drive off, smashing into the one of the lingering corpses as they descended the exit ramp. "Two now. Erm and three shamblers."
