Jonathan hadn't even seen or heard the explosion due to his being so close to the impact. It had picked him up off of his feet and into another room, his body and face littered with shrapnel and burns from the grenade. It wasn't without pain. In fact, the pain was terrible, but well worth it. He knew that the blast wiped out the Russians which had been his goal anyway. With them gone, he could now focus on his primary plan: Joey. However that was going to take some time as he needed to heal from his wounds. Normally his rapid healing would have no trouble with burns and cuts, but with so many all over the front of his body, it was going to take longer than usual. So, as he waited for his health to return to an adequate state, he laid motionless on the ground.
He listened as the other men came into the wrecked house and spoke with the general briefly, only ending in gunfire coming to the general's final end. While Jonathan wanted nothing more than the kill the man during the fray, the fact that not even the general would die so easily earned the man some respect in Jonathan's mind. As he lay there, he reflected on his own life and how it had been relatively violent over the past few years ever since the outbreak. From his trying to help cover up his research project to becoming what he is today and now helping Tricell do exactly what he once did for Umbrella...it was a horrid existance, but one that had to be.
Wherever there was an honorable man that fought for justice and order in the torn world that they all now lived in, there was the opposite: someone that, by using shadowy tactics, aided the opposition in dominating the world and keeping it in its present state. Only Jonathan could fit that type of bill. On his file in Tricell, it would state that his occupation was withheld...though the truth was only known by top Tricell officials. He was the go-to man for the organization. He was the person that eliminated threats, retrieved needed samples, performed recon and various other black op activities.
A few moments passed and he opened his eyes and looked around the room that he was in. Judging by the sink, refrigerator, pantry and dish washer, he could tell that he was in the kitchen. Not seeing anyone, Jonathan took the opportunity to slowly come to his feet with his wounds now healed. He looked around for his sunglasses and picked them up from the rubble and put them back snuggly on his face. He then sighed and nodded in the direction of the dead Russians before leaving the house through the back door of the kitchen.
Once outside, he leapt the fence and headed for his old home where Joey, Raine, and the girl that he agreed to help were located. He glanced down at his tattered trench coat and slipped it off leaving only a midly burnt black turtle neck and his slacks on along with his holsters beneath each of his arms. He leapt up to the second floor balcony, landing on his tip toes to reduce noise before opening the door and walking into his bedroom. It was all about to come to an end for Joey whether he was aware of it or not. It was too late to escape.

Finally with the courage worked up enough, Joey grabbed the sledge hammer with one arm, and then moved over to Raine, making sure she was within reach. "Dont worry, im gonna get us out of here, Raine..." He then moved over to the barricaded window, and glanced through the cracks. There didnt seem to be many vehicles outside, not to say any one of them were unlocked, and actually had the keys. With the right tools, he would be able to hijack it, but there wouldnt be enough time. It would be easier to just run with Raine on his shoulder, far away from this place. Backing up into the room, Joey now grasped the sledge hammer with both hands, and brought it over his shoulder. Running forward, Joey lunged it toward the wooden planks.
But just then, there was a large explosion outside, this one much closer. It made him stop, and debate whether going outside right now would be a good idea or not. If carrying Raine was the only way, there no solution if explosives were being uses around the place. Joey wouldnt be able to get out of the area fast enough, and had he be caught in the mess outside, it would only turn more ugly. He dropped the sledge hammer once again, and then slammed his fist into the wall. This was useless, it was enevitable Jonathan and he would fight again. All he could do was sit and wait with Raine until the time came, and face what he came here to face.

The girl couldn't kid herself; all of those explosions and gunfire going off a block away; the scenario must have been a hell of a lot more grand than she originally assumed. After one last explosion a dark figure peeled across the sky, escaping the area; Alex squinted to try and make it more distinct. Once it vanished, the surreal view was dropped; as much it was something she wanted to follow in curiosity, just like the explosive battle, she had to stay where she was.
The sound of wood crunching from a hard impact vibrated through the walls and roof of the home taking Alex by surprise from the serenity of the aftermath, "God damnit!" picking herself up and hopping back through the window, she had her bullwhip ready to subdue the man, "Joey. I sure hope you aren't trying to escape," sliding back through the hole.
Raine still slept, comatose. Joey stood near a window at the front entrance with grief written across his face. One hole in a plank of the window created from the sledgehammer on the floor, another of equal size in the plaster from his fist. He knew as much as her that the firefight was over; Johnny's last pit stop was right in their direction.

Jonathan heard the distinct impact of the sledgehammer on the boards downstairs, and so, he took it upon himself to take the steps to the ground floor. He was in no hurry, though and walked calmly down the steps and around the corner toward the living room where Joey and Raine were located. "Joey. I sure hope you aren't trying to escape." "Yes," Jonathan chimed in with a calm tone, "I do hope you aren't trying to escape. I must say that I am surprised to see you still concious...it seems that my assistant here didn't do as she was asked." He glanced up at her through the hole, but made no indication of his plans with her. He had anticipated it as much anyway, "No bother...I'll just have to take care of you myself, which I must say will be even more fun."

"Well you didn't follow through with the plan," the PI crossed her arms.

Jonathan glanced back up at the PI with a look of disdain on his face, "Something else came up that was of more importance. I will admit, however, that I didn't expect it to take so long...but that is irrelevant at this point. The main goal hasn't changed." He didn't want to go into detail about the fight with the Russians, at least not now. Joey was of more importance and with him so within reach, Jonathan wasn't looking to delay his plan any longer.
"Do as you were originally asked and I will give you the ride that you seek," he added as he adjusted his sunglasses, "I am, among many other things, a man of my word. Even Joey here will attest to that. It is why I am here."[/b] He then turned his attention back to Joey with the look of hatred growing on his face, "Did I not tell you that I would come for you and that, no matter what you did, I would have vengeance on you? That time, my old friend, is now."

Without even making any response to the scene that unfolded before him, Joey lifted the sledge hammer, and held it tightly. "I guess you could give it a shot...!" Taking a few quick steps, he swung the hammer around horisontally, and then flung it in Jonathans direction. Yet still several feet away, he released it from his grasp, spinning it toward him. Then after it hade contact, he pulled out his handgun with speedy reflexes and fired off four rounds in his direction.

Jonathan stood his ground as the sledge came toward him and he smirked after it had hit him in the chest, making his stagger back a couple of steps, but not much. It was at that moment that Joey fired from his weapon and Jonathan, in a quick showing of speed, moved in a fashion that allowed him to practically dodge three of the four bullets, with the final one hitting him in the left shoulder causing minimal damage.
Jonathan glared up at Joey, "I'm not going to play games with you-" He then quickly drew his two pistols and fired three bullets out of each weapon at Joey, though his intent wasn't to kill. It was to wound. He aimed for the nonvital body regions...he had plans for Joey and he wasn't giving him such an easy way out.

When Joeys shots were fired, he was already running to the hallway only six feet away. As quick as his own brain could function, he heard three gunshots coming from the other side of the room, and knew Jonathan wasnt going to hold back this time. One of the bullets missed him, but the other hit Joey in the backside and forearm. Forcing his back against the railing of the staircase, he felt the wounds, the bullet went through clean. Quickly making a sprint for the kitchen side of the living room, he strafed out with his gun drawn, but Jonathan was nowhere in sight
Just then, he was lifted up, and thrown into the kitchen, smashing one of the dinner chairs from impact. Soaking up the pain, Joey aimed the gun up with his good arm, but saw nothing once again. Standing to his feet, he took pose, and then carefully made glances at both entrances to the kitchen.

There was a blur as a brown coat flapped through the entrance near the refrigerator. John Matrix had the fellow close to begging from what it seemed. At the same time she had watched the man take a bullet without blinking; not to mention the last time she saw a man take a sledgehammer to the chest it caved his plating and rib cage right in on his lungs. That pretty much concluded that there was a lot more to the black clad interceptor than what met the eye.
It wasn't her problem. None of this was. Alex had made her decision before they even entered Sunset Hills. Even now while stalking over the downed man aiming wildly in the least threatening directions possible, Alex still didn't flinch in her choice.
Jabbing the needle in Joey's posterior auricular vein, just below his ear, she injected the sedative to throw the man into his dark sleep. At the same time she lashed out and clamped her hand down on his sidearm, pulling it up and out of his grip so that it wouldn't discharge again.
Syringe empty, Alex removed it and returned to the shadows of the dark kitchen giving Mr. Black the decider. Her part was done, she was ready to out of here once the enigma had finished whatever speech was likely to follow suit after the PI's flawless victory.

"Argh! What the hell?! My gun!" Joey had been betrayed by the woman, or so it seemed. If she had any idea what was going on here, she wouldn't have sides with Jonathan. But matters change in an instant, his adversary had others plans of his own, keeping its prey alive. Joey sprung to his feet, and in an attempt to use up the last bit of his energy, he pulled out another bit of strength toward Jonathan. "She with you? I shoulder known... Shes more loyal then I thought." Joey threw a fist toward Jonathan, and smashing the side of his cheek. However, the super human just allowed him to this, knowing he wouldn't stop until he was completely worn out, which is what he was aiming for.
Throwing a left hook into his stomach, Joey rushed back in with a knee. Anger in his eyes, he pummeled out hit after hit, until he was grabbed by the throat and held upright. Then he was slammed downward into the ground, the wind getting knocked out of him. Gasping for air, Joey held his side, blood still soaking his shirt. upon catching another breath, he used it to sweep a kick toward Jonathan's leg. But it was already risen in the air, and crashing down upon Joey's chest once again. He was the man back up, and speak out lines that just put more and more hate into him.
Joey got back to his feet, and readied for another strike. He moved quickly toward Jonathan, but slowed down, showing signs that the sedative was taking its effect even quicker then he anticipated. Dropping onto his knees in front of death itself, his eyes glued shut, and he fell to his chest motionless. At least he didn't give up without a fight, but whatever the man had planned for him, had better kill him while Joey's not conscience. Because the second he wakes up, hes going to be ready for round two, no matter where they were.
"Raine, I'm sorry..." His last words were mumbled.
[Joey goes unconscious]

Jonathan watched emotionlessly as Joey fell to the ground and then looked down at him for a moment, soaking in the victory before sighing and taking his sunglasses off in order to wipe them clean on his shirt. Once he had gotten them back to their prisitine condition that he liked, he put them back on his face and turned to look into the darkness where the PI had gone after doing her part.
"Good job," he declared, "you've earned your flight out of this hole."
He then walked past the unconcious Joey and toward the living room where Raine lay on the couch, also seemingly unconcious. Jonathan stared at his former lover for a moment before shaking his head, "What a waste." He then adjusted his sunglasses and walked back into the kitchen.
"It's best that we take our leave now. It won't be long before he wakes and I'd rather him be strapped to a slab in a laboratory when that happens." Jonathan smirked at the PI before kneeling down and picking up Joey, throwing him effortlessly over his right shoulder before looking at he again, "Ladies first."

The turtleneck man smiled at his success; Alex couldn't help but share it with him. She aimed to please, and it seemed she had done enough to receive the first smile she had seen on the face of Mr. Black. Emerging from the shadow and following him out of the kitchen, Alex placed Joey's pistol down on the cutting board counter before stepping through into the hallway and down into the living room. The black clad man spoke down to the unconscious girl on the lounge; apparent history between them. Alex wanted to suggest they take her along, say that she could carry her. The fact they were going to leave the comatose girl here to die was way against the morals Alex held. from the words that had escaped Mr. Black's mouth the PI figured that would do more harm than good. Only in the least offend him. Just another of his endeavors which she knew she would be intruding upon. No space for patronizing dialogue now. "Ladies first." Taking a step forwards in compliance, Alex drew her hook shot and ascended back through the hole she had made, climbing out the window. A shy hop off of the roof of the veranda and she was back at street level, rolling to absorb the impact. She didn't wait for Johnny Utah, she knew the way back to the chopper; he was the one with the package, it was Alex's duty to keep an eye out and make sure no undesirables jumped out and got the upper hand on them. Judging by Mr. Black's recent actions though, it seemed surprises of that kind were less likely to happen than having the outbreak suddenly get cleaned up. [Joey, Johnathan and Alex are heading to the Uptown Street System]

Raine woke up on the couch in the living room and slowly sat herself up. She looked around the house trying to piece together what happened. She looked to her right and saw Lisa picking up boards, then she saw the hole in the ceiling. Standing up, she cleared her throat and walked over to where Lisa was standing. ''What the f**k happened here?''
Lisa turned around and forced a smile, ''Jonathan came back for your boyfriend and destroyed my damn house! Some woman injected him with something and the three of them left..'' Raine just looked at her and shook her head.. ''Wait, Jonathan was here?'' Lisa nodded.
''See, all I heard was Jon-...'' Raine stopped her, ''I heard enough.. I was conscious right before Jonathan walked in. But his voice was different so i didn't recognize him...'' Raine thought back to when everything was done and Jonathan left with Joey, she felt him looking at her. He knew she was awake, he also knew Joey wouldn't willingly leave Raine's side unless she was up and around. 'Don't kill him off yet darling..' she thought to herself.
''Lisa... if Joey does come back, go into another room... he and i need to talk. Something might get broken and I'd rather you yell at me later..'' Raine knew breaking anything was the last thing Lisa wanted to hear but with the way Jonathan 'Programmed' her, you never know whats going to happen. But Lisa was stubborn and although she had other thoughts, she nodded and told Raine she would step outside if Joey came back.

"Preston, this is Joey. Im back in Raccoon City, radio me back if you can read me." For the next fifteen minutes, Joey had been on the rooftop of a house just a few blocks away from where he had left Raine. It was coming on eight at night, two hours past the time he said that he would radio in to the other survivors. Hopefully nothing bad happened to them, but this wasnt the only reason he came here. Joey made a promise to both himself and to Raine that he would be back before nightfall, and he intended to keep that promise. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, he made his way closer to the house where he was earlier that day.
But upon jumping across a far gap, Joey landed on to the roof, and it collapsed from a previous break in the wood, and he was sent crashing to the bedroom below him. The impact was light, when he hit the matress resting on the floor. Two infected entered the room, and instantly, Joey jumped to his feet and pulled out his knife. Quick after doing so, he lunged forward, and stabbed one of the infected in the head, and kicked the other off to the side, giving him enough space to run out of the room and out of the house. Being on the streets wasnt exactly his intention, but there was only a few undead around for now, it would be a safe jog to the house.
After about another fifteen minutes, Joey saw the place, and the amount of infected surrounding it. They werent getting in though, somebody had been barricading the entrances while he was gone. That could only mean that Raine was up and moving again, or Lisa had came out of hiding and her instinct kicked in. She had plenty of experience, and knew exactly how to fortify a house on her own. So right now, the only way in way the hole in the roof, and their only way out should an escape plan come into effect before the infected went away.
After climbing up onto the roof of the house paralelle to the Byrne home, Joey looked across, and toward the gap between rooftops. It would be easier had he been in top condition, but his body was still sore from the fighting that took place. But with a quick leap, he rolled onto the top of the house, and grabbed onto the chimmny. Pulling himself into the hole in the ceiling, Joey dropped down onto his feet, still crouched, and waiting for movement or voices downstairs before doing any further.
