Jason grinned and brought out a map of the city from his leg pocket. "pays to be prepared."
taking out a few coloured markers, he quickly made multiple routes out of the city from their position and gave it to Lydia. "I hope you can navigate cause im gonna have to pay attention."
after that he gunned the engine and, running over several zeds, broke out into the street. it was absolutely chockers full of undead.

"Alright, I guess we can just...mow them down? I mean, it's not like this thing can't handle it. Might help a few survivors too, thin out the horse and what not."
Lydia was looking at the map, and keeping an eye out for street signs. A lot of the lights had been taken out, either by the power grid shutting down, or had collapsed due to car hitting them. The streets were an absolute mess, and she could see the large groups of infected making their way towards the large vehicle, ready to be run down and crushed under the giant tires. She didn't think she'd ever forget the sound of crunching bones and bodies.
"Take a right in two streets, that'll take us on a trip out of town. Hey, did you check to see what's in the back? Might be some good equipment?"

"Check, but take a weapon just in case." Jason said, driving through a s*** load of undead, set popping noises entering the cabin.

Lydia was almost tempted to plug her ears as she got out of her seat and went to sliding viewport between the cab and the passenger section of the vehicle. She pulled her pistol, keeping it handy as the vehicle bumped and rolled over the bodies in their path. Ash she opened it she hoped there wasn't anything in there waiting to reach out and grab at her through the small slit.
Not seeing anything initially, she pulled a flashlight, and scanned the interior of the compartment. Nothing, it was completely empty. She sighed, and shut the slit again, turning off her flashlight and taking her seat again.
"We're clear. Completely empty. Too bad, we could have gotten people out in this thing."
A sudden idea came to mind, and she reached over and turned on the radio, scanning through frequencies. Perhaps someone else was still alive...

Jason glanced at Lydia before focusing on the road, continuing to smash through the undead horde that had build up from the loudspeakers at the RCPD, damn communist bastards.
after a particularly loud squish, he looked back at Lydia, she was very competent to have survived for so long, and that was refreshing in the UBCS. "anything?"

"Nothing sounds pretty quiet...wait...something near the power plant. Sounds like UBCS and some civilians. Maybe someone is still alive out there."
Lydia poured over the map, trying to figure out where the power plant was from their current position. Damn, it was several blocks away, but thankfully in a less-inhabited area than they were currently in. If they ran over anything in their way, they could get to them before they were overrun.
"Alright, get us to the power plant, I'll see if I can get through to them."
She began switching radio frequencies, trying to get through to the stranded survivors. Depending on how many of them there were, they could all fit in the back of the vehicle, and they could make a run for the outskirts of town.
"Hello hello hello, come in please. Are you receiving? Is anyone receiving on this channel?"

"So you know, we're only picking people up that are on the way."
Jason drove fast and accurate, ignoring the soft zombies and avoiding the harder obstacles.
Soon, they were driving up to the power plant, where Jason could see several survivors. A few survivors and a pair of UBCS soldiers surrounded by a horde of zombies in the parking lot. They were keeping the zeds at bay for now, but would soon be overrun.
"Hold on!"
Speeding up, he did something nobody probably should do. He drifted through the zeds surrounding the survivors, finally stopping with the reach hatch open and facing the survivors.
He keyed the loudspeakers, "Need an invite?! Get in!"

Lydia whooped when they skidded on the undead under their wheels, holding onto the dash as the vehicle did a half spin before coming to a stop. That was one of the most exhilarating rides she had even taken in an armored vehicle before. She certainly hoped she would live to not regret it.
"Oh God, we just hydroplaned on zombies. Would that be zombieplaned?"
Lydia opened the door window, pointing her rifle out on her side and squeezing off a few rounds, picking off the infected that were getting closer to the vehicle. She wanted to give the survivors as much breathing space as she could, and kept an eye out for anyone else. Not seeing anyone, and hearing the hatch close shut and a fist banging on the separation door, she gave the man a thumbs up sign and closed her window, ready to depart.
"C'mon Jason, let's get the hell out of here before anything else comes up.

Lydia didn't need to tell him twice, and Jason put his foot down.
the APC quickly got back onto the main road heading out of Raccoon. "there's a hatch for talking in the separation door," Jason said to Lydia, "open it up and get names, concentrate on the UBCS people."

"Didn't recognize them, must be from a different team."
Lydia got out of her seat and went to the hatch, sliding it open and peering through into the now lighted compartment. She saw a few civilians and RPD members, as well as two exhausted looking men in black combat gear, obviously Umbrella security team members like herself.
"Just relax everyone. We are heading out of town now. So who else from Umbrella do we have back here? Anyone from Charlie or Sigma team?"
Both of the men looked up, and seemed to peer back at her wondering how she would know about the different teams. One of the removed his balaclava, revealing a youngish man in his late 20's with close-cropped black hair and piercing green eyes.
"Cho, that you? It's Davison and Ramirez from Echo team. Far as we knew, no one else made it out."

While Lydia was busy talking to her fellow UBCS troops Jason was concentrating on driving. Pretty soon they were back on the road out of raccoon city, and should be out within an hour or two.
"So," he asked, swerving to avoid a truck, "how long were you guys with UBCS?"

"Two years, these guys a little less. They were one of the last containment teams brought in before all of this happened. Are you sure we aren't hearing from anyone else on the frequencies? I don't like the idea of leaving anyone behind in this."
Lydia sat back down in the passenger seat, checking the frequencies one last time while unzipping the tactical vest she had been wearing. She needed to be able to breathe easier, and wasn't worried about anything trying to shoot at her for the immediate future.

"I've been in the USS for the last 10 years. I've seen some bad s*** but," he indicated the desolated city. "nothing as bad as this." "if you find other people on the channel call them out, but ill make the call."

Lydia nodded and checked the channels, finding nothing but static. The place had gone to hell, and they were going to have to ride through it to get to safety. Thankfully they were in a vehicle that was able to handle the many obstacles, both moving and immobile, that they have run over. After hearing nothing but static and automated messages for a few minutes, she was about to turn it off when she thought she caught something.
"Wait, I've got something. It's coming in faint, let me patch it through the cab radio. Might be able to hear it clearer."
