Ranging in age from the Dark Ages and onward, these huge buildings usually include a wall with gate or even drawbridge, and maybe a few small buildings inside. They are quite safe from zombies, but most have been abandoned for years. Not only are they unfit living places, most were left open and have now been inhabited by new, necrotic guests.

[North Western Poland, 37 miles outside of Kalingrad]
A black-hawk helicopter cut across the silent night sky, a Tricell Symbol stamped on it's sides with the letters TSTU painted boldly beneath it. It passed over the thick forests heading to it's destination, a medieval fort settled upon a series of hills that rose up in stark contrast to the otherwise flat, thicket of trees that defined the landscape.
The helicopter slowed down as it approached the forgotten fortress, gradually grinding to a halt and hovering above the fort's courtyard and slowly descending until it touched down. Three soldiers dressed in the combat armor of Tricell emerged.
"We go long way to homeland, and we visit Kraut castle?" Sobczak grumbled as the four TSTU personnel made a quick run of the closed off court-yard to ensure it was secure.
"s*** man, I was just hoping for a break after that last forte. Can't believe Alvarez actually wanted to be stationed with that limy creep." Ito said as the three regrouped near the helicopter.
"What we here for?" Sobczak asked, leaning against the helicopter.
"We got ordered to check this place out directly on our flight back. Some egg-head in the African area. Were just suppose to stay put and wait for further instruction." Hicks said.
"They don't pay us enough for this bulls***." Ito hissed, sitting down on the grass.
Suddenly a man dressed in a WW2 Schutzstaffe uniform came running out of the castle like a bat out of hell. He completely disregarded the TSTU personnel and attempted to sprint past them before being knocked to the ground by Sobczak.
"Well, that's one more point to you universe, I wasn't expecting that." said Hicks as he walked over to Sobczak, who'd put handcuffs around the man in the SS uniform.
"Vhat are you doing? You'll kill us all you fools!" hissed the man in the SS uniform.
"Okay, slow down. What the hell is going on?" asked Hicks, looking over the man with justified confusion.
"Projekt Ewigkeit! Zose fools, zey activated it. Listen! Ve still have time, he's stuck in zee lower levels but he'll get out! Ve have to go - now!" hissed the man in the SS Uniform.
"Yeah, yeah, trust me when I saw we've already heard our fair share of frantic scientists give that speech. So what's with the Hitler Youth outfit there, and just who the f**k are you?" asked Hicks in a stern tone.
"I am Doctor Fritz Richtofen. Ve have to get out of here, you in particular." the man in the SS uniform, revealing himself to be Dr.Richtofen said, grinning at Hicks.
"And just why the f**k is that?" Hicks said, laughing.
"Because your clearly an American, and beyond zat an Afrikaner, he'll kill you zee moment he sees you." said Richtofen, these men had no idea what they'd gotten themselves into.
"And just what the f**k does that have to do with anything, you wild-eyed little kraut." growled Hicks, were the living dead now discriminatory?
Dr.Richtofen laughed, "You don't understand? You know noshing of vhats going on here, do you?" Richtofen said.
"Yeah, we shoot NAZI." Sobczak said.
Dr.Richtofen growled, "Your dealing vith somesing designed for zee second vorld var. It vasn't ready, but it's been unleashed. Und it vill kill all of you if ve don't leave now!"
Hicks, Ito and Sobczak exchanged looks of confusion and disbelief, before any of them could say anything a man was thrown threw a window. The window was barred, but the man was thrown with such force he splattered through them.
"s***." said Hicks, looking at the bloody mess that just exploded from the window.
"He's getting closer! Quickly, in zee helicopter! All of you! Release me! It's to late to take off now! Ve're all dead if ve don't!" Richtofen said frantically.
Hicks looked at Sobczak, "Do it, but keep your guns on. If he runs away, shoot him." Hicks said.
Sobczak nodded and took the handcuffs off of Richtofen, the three then promptly entered into the helicopter. Almost on cue the door flung open, with four UBCS personnel opening fire at something in the doorway. They slowly backed away, their fire never stopping, retreating down the steps. Suddenly a plume of fire erupted from the doorway and engulfed the UBCS personnel. They all ran around on fire before collapsing on the ground.
Projekt Ewigkeit stepped out, seven feet tall, it surveyed the slain UBCS personnel and put it's arm down, the fire on his right hand dying down as he did so. He walked down the steps of the medieval fort with his MP40 at the ready, crushing the skull of each man as he passed. He approached Dr.Richtofen, and lowered his weapon. Dr.Richtofen brought up his right hand in the infamous salute, Projekt Ewigkeit followed suit.
"Tag, Herr Tahler, sehr gut zu seehe dich. Es scheint das unser helfen war nicht wichtig. Wir brauchen Sie an das Osten Front." Dr.Richtofen said.
Projekt Ewigkeit looked over Dr.Richtofen then suddenly grabbed him by the neck. He made a loud, static like noise before hurling him into the snow. Projekt Ewigkeit than leaped with the same ease one would over a bucket clear over the helicopter and walls over the castle. He then stopped briefly, turned slightly left, and began walking quickly in that direction.
Hicks and Ito left the helicopter as soon as Projekt Ewigkeit had disappeared into the darkness. They walked over to Dr.Richtofen who was holding his head in the snow, laughing hysterically.
"Just what the hell was that?" Hicks asked, looking down at Richtofen.
"My fault... I didn't take zee time to consider zat... he outranked me in zis uniform." Richtofen began to laugh again, "Marvelous! Nur Wunderbar!!! Perhaps zee most intelligent tyrant ever! Zee brain! Over 70 years old, but it still verks! It still commands zee creature! Ahahahaaha! DAS IST DEUTSCHER TECHNIK FÜR DICH!" Dr.Richtofen shouted, finally calming himself as he stood up and brushed the snow from his clothes.
"So what the hell was it?!" shouted Hicks.
Dr.Richtofen straighted himself, "I vill tell you along zee vay. Follow me inside, zeres a large amount of money und veapons locked in zere. Give me a ride, und I vill give it to you, ya?"
"Depends on how much your offering and where." Hicks said, helping Dr.Richtofen up.
"Enough, und Castle Caernarfon in Britain." Dr.Richtofen said.
"Caernarfon..." Hicks said, looking like a truck hit him. "Let me guess, your there to see that Brit, Nathanos."
Dr.Richtofen grinned, "Depends on vhy your asking I suppose."
"Lets just say I know him too." Hicks grumbled, as the rest of his men exited the vehicle (with the exception of Gambhir) and followed Dr.Richtofen inside the Medieval Fortress.
